Clay said grace and Joyanne said about everything else. Just a wonderful couple, full of stories and inquisitive about our lives. She wrote a book about there experiences with the local Amish and told stories of how they used to drive them around. This part of Ohio is all gentle rolling hills with plenty of farmland. We were here in the peak fall color viewing time so it was a little slow getting around. I imagine it's always a little slow all year with all the bikes, buggy's, and tourists. Lots to do and see in the area. We were lucky enough to be here during the towns annual garage sale, so we spent some time shopping these. I bet you would be hard pressed to find someone with a bad disposition around here, everyone seemed quite content with there own pace of life they have sit for themselves. If you are lucky enough to book a room here, make sure you tell them I said hello, they are not the type to read things on line.

Her 100-year old brick Victorian brick home lovingly restored by her and her children and her 5-acre property with Belgians, miniature donkeys, chickens and barn cats was a restful sanctuary for us. The movie "Somewhere in Time" was her inspiration and added to the charm. Nancy also served us a delicious and generous breakfast of yogurt with raspberries and blueberries, pancakes, poached eggs, ham and great coffee. We enjoyed visiting with her and her son Rod. We loved the amazing breakfasts by Sandy (we had breakfast inside one day and then out on the gorgeous patio by the water the next morning) and Bart handed us delicious Mint Juleps to help celebrate the Derby. Throughout the day, we took advantage of the plethora of great spots to sit and take in the gorgeous view. Bart and Sandy are hilariously sweet and a tremendous joy to be around. As for food, our burgers were a bit well done, but still delicious. The pretzel sticks with Gouda cheese were a hit. And the strawberry rhubarb wine was amazing. We can home with multiple bottles of it. And, of course, you can't forget the cheesecake. The service was a bit slower, but well worth the wait. My biggest takeaway is if you're between two menu items: get the one with the Gouda!
