We had a wonderful time living in Sagamore. The best part was the friendly staff and extremely quick response time of any issues or inquiries we had (whether it was questions on rent or term extension, or any maintainence issues that was always resolved within 24 hours). It was best rental building I've lived in NYC so far, and I would totally recommend it. Also, It was my first time living in a rental building managed by Bozzuto and my impression of the management company is fantastic due to my stay here. Pros: - Incredibly well managed - Aprell and building staff are top notch and in addition to the quick response mentioned above, they maintain the building in a very clean shape. They also host periodic happy hours / breakfast / dog treat events, etc. - The front desk / building staff are extremely professional and kind. They know my family, and make it feel a really friendly building. - Beautiful rooftop deck and a fantastic 3rd floor outdoor space (with a dog run for dog owners), also a gym My only con would be that one of the elevators has been out of order a few times (more of an inconvenience than any safety issue - they block the elevator immediately and make repairs very promptly). I hope they make a more long-term repair for this. read more

The location is good, but not stellar. Heat and hot water work consistently. MOST of the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. In-house Super is friendly and on-the-ball for any repair issues, no complaints there. Dog friendly w/ private dog run in building is a plus, but you will pay extra. Building Link is useful for selling/ getting rid of things to neighbors quickly, or getting neighborhood referrals. Roof & 3rd fl. terrace have grills, but there's no reservation system to ensure access to one during popular times. Elevators do have occasional service disruptions but are usually resolved same day. Unit kitchen & bath fittings are OK, a little worn and dated given the rents they charge. Unit flooring is LVT (faux wood,) not hard-wood. The gym is OK: small, with basic equipment, no rowers or pelotons, which is unfortunate for a building of this size. Laundry room is 24-hrs but the company running the machines is sub-par. Bike storage is outdoor (albeit covered) & costs extra which is nuts b/c it's outdoor. We had guests over the holidays, and the one un-friendly doorman (day shift Tues-Sat) wouldn't let our guest back up in the morning 10 min after he'd left for coffee, which he had been doing for 4 days. I was even questioned on prior occasions as to where I was going when he claimed to "not recognize" me. Granted, there are a lot of apartments/ guests coming & going, especially during busy times, but it's the automatically accusatory tone he takes with everyone that is offensive. Note of the vacancy rate: about double that of comparable buildings in Manhattan with similar (most have better/ newer) finishes & amenities. The yr 1 rate may be reasonable, but be prepared for Bozzuto to increase it by an unreasonable amt (30-50%) beyond market rate at renewal. They require 60 day notice, whereas most building require only 30. They nickel-&-dime on additional charges for bike storage, pet fees etc. which many buildings/ management cos do not charge for such as Brodsky. The building management seem to have no input on leasing negotiations. While the building team does a great job of fostering "community" with happy hours, dog treats & breakfasts, and the use of Building Link is a plus, it seems superficial when they only seem to want market rate tenants for a 1 yr terms. The vast majority of tenants residing long term are locked into rent stabilized leases. read more

The management office is inferior the assistant manager is unscrupulous individual. You will suffer from repairs and profanity being used at the front desk. It unprofessional environment. The neighborhood is dangerous at night time frequent gun fire in the area. They lose a general manager every six months. The workers are friendly but unprofessional.Bozzutto needs a regime change at the sagamore. The last general manager was a female busy doing other things except engaging in proper building management. read more

Simply one of the best buildings to live in the UWS. They have great property management, doormen and facilities staff with a perfect location and nice apartment units despite being an older building. We loved our time at the Sagamore and felt like it was a home with personalized service. Apprell went above and beyond helping us get settled into the building. She was easily accessible and very helpful. Whenever there were any issues, the staff dealt with them immediately and with professionalism and diligence. The doormen were attentive and had a positive and friendly attitude. Also, the management team did their best to create a community through one of the most difficult times during the pandemic. They organized morning breakfast "on the go" every few months, and held virtual events. We also have to praise their amenities...the laundry room was truly superior:  Always clean, plenty of machines, never saw a roach, and best of all was located on the 3rd floor so it had windows and natural light!  The third floor terrace was also great, since it had a grill, comfy seating, and was partly sheltered by high walls.  The dog run was also there, and well kept and private.  The roof offered great views of the west side, and had plenty of comfy seating with a couple grills too! Best of all, there is a sheltered seating area next to the roof lounge, with great wifi and more seating.  Loved this outdoor space during the pandemic and work from home mode! read more

The building is well managed and incredibly responsive for any repairs that might be needed. The roof deck is beautiful, the rooftop lounge is a great benefit, and the fitness center is top drawer - and the front desk staff are incredible. read more

We've absolutely loved living here so much! When we wanted to upgrade from a studio to a 1 bed we knew that similar UWS buildings couldn't compare-- we found our new home only two floors up!! The space and views and rooftop are all lovely. I think the real stand out is how they make it feel like home-- the amazing office team hosts events monthly to build community (including "yappy hours" for the pup community), the concierge team welcomes you in with hand-picked records and updates from their families, and I actually know (and want to know) my neighbors! read more

The building is very well maintained and comfortable and our apartment on the 16th floor gets amazing light and has a really efficient layout. I've been so happy since moving in here last summer after a poor rental experience elsewhere on the UWS. From visiting and moving in everything was seamless. The units are updated and well maintained. Any maintenance or repairs I need are quickly addressed. I have lived at the Sagamore for 2.5 years and I really love it here. It feels like a true community. The people that work in the building from the front desk, to facilities staff to management are all so warm and make the place feel like home. This is my third year at The Sagamore, and I couldn't be more pleased with this residential community. The staff is kind, helpful and always available to assist with any needs or requests. They frequently host fun events for the residents such as free breakfast and happy hours! It is very clean, and I feel incredibly safe here which is always a plus in NYC. I have really enjoyed living at The Sagamore. There is a gym (always plenty of space, even right before and after work) and laundry for studios that don't have in-unit laundry (very clean, never any line, secure). The building management is incredibly professional and responsive. They host fun events every other month or so, and the maintenance team goes above and beyond! (Seriously!!! They helped us install shelving and hang difficult-to-hang mirrors and wall fixtures for no extra fee.) The neighborhood feels very safe and has lots of fun bars and restaurants. I love being so close to both Central Park and Riverside Park. I can't recommend the building highly enough :) read more

About to celebrate one year at the Sagamore and I couldn't be happier! I've rented Manhattan for the last 10 years, and nothing quite compares to my experience here. Not only are you nestled in the heart of the UWS ... I felt like I was the first person to live in my apartment - that's how clean & new it was -- stainless steal appliances are unheard of in NYC. The amenities are top shelf (rooftop + gym are my favorites). And above all mgmt and staff of the building are the most friendly, responsive and welcoming. The Sagamore has been the best building I've lived in. The lobby and common areas are kept very clean. The amenities are top notch. There's a gym, a rooftop with a great view, a party room, and a 3rd floor garden (which is being renovated). The building is dog friendly which is a huge plus. The doormen and maintenance guys are fantastic. So friendly and always willing to help out. Before I moved to the Sagamore I wasn't so familiar with the UWS in the high 80's -90's but I've grown to love it. Its a safe and family friendly neighborhood. There are so many great restaurants and coffee shops within a few blocks and new ones are popping up all the time. There's a soulcycle and an equinox nearby. Public transportation near The Sagamore is a breeze. Our unit itself is great. We have a one bedroom that feels huge because of the high ceilings, huge windows and dining room nook (which we use as a home office). The kitchen was renovated before we moved in so everything is brand new. The apt is quiet - we rarely hear our neighbors. My favorite part of our apt. is the light! We have huge windows facing east which gives our apt so much light plus the view can't be beat! The only reason we are leaving the Sagamore is because we are moving to CA for work, otherwise we'd be living in this building for years! read more

First thing first: Beautiful building and apartments! I have many friends that live or have lived in the building. The building is located in a less than pleasant area surrounded by public housing and is pretty shady at night. I also understand the management raises rent significantly after the first year. There are many buildings that are less expensive and closer to the park that I would give a 5 star for, The Sagamore is not one of them! read more

This building is absolutely amazing! The doormen are friendly, there are nice amenities, and we didn't see a single bug or rodent the entire year we lived there. They do raise your rent significantly when your lease is up, but on the bright side, the move-out process was so easy. :) They don't try to screw you out of your deposit; in fact, we got our entire deposit back! The downside to living here really is the neighborhood. The sirens are so bad that I had to sleep with earplugs, which I've never had to do before. Also, there may be luxury buildings around, but just take a look at what is immediately surrounding the Sagamore, especially at say 10 PM or so. There was a good amount of police activity at the building across the street, as well as a shooting and a stabbing. There is also currently a rash of robberies targeting school kids in the neighborhood that was all over the news. In summary, do I regret living there-no. Am I glad that I'm no longer living there-definitely. I'm happy that I'm paying significantly less for a bigger apartment in a safer neighborhood right on Central Park. read more

I have lived in the Sagamore for 1.5 years, and it is a wonderful place to live! The building is close to Central Park and Riverside Park and is very well maintained; my individual apartment has modern appliances, beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings, and plenty of sunlight. The amenities are also great: the rooftop and courtyard are great for hosting guests, the laundry room is clean and always has machines available, and the spacious dog run is my (and my pup's!) favorite unique amenity. We loved living at the Sagamore. The Concierge, doormen, super and support people were great! very friendly! The building is well maintained and the gym and the apartments were renovated while we were there, we lived there for 10 years. I think it was after 6 years that we moved up one floor to a renovated apartment just like ours. Whenever we had a maintenance issue it was attended to very quickly, the super and handyman were very good. I'd say the only negative is the neighborhood a bit but it is very convenient to the subway and there are a lot of great restaurants nearby. I'm a bit older but the neighborhood seemed to be getting younger and younger. I will miss the staff in our building and some of the restaurants nearby. read more

I recently moved into The Sagamore, and so far it has been a great experience. The doormen and maintenance staff are incredibly attentive & very friendly. I've already used all of the amenities (roof deck, terrace, gym & laundry), all of which have been very clean and not crowded. The building also offers modern features, such as emails about packages and a website with community and building feature updates. The Sagamore physical space is in very good condition, and I am feeling great about my decision to move into the building. Caroline Burns, the Assistant Property Manager, was a huge part of making the move-in experience so great. She made her self readily available for showings and to answer any questions prior to moving in. And then once I moved in, she worked diligently to ensure that all of our needs were met and that the move-in process was smooth. I've seen her in the lobby since, and she always greets me with a smile! I'm looking forward to being part of such a warm & friendly community. read more

My husband and I have lived in The Sagamore for 6.5 years. We moved here before we were married and since then have gotten married and had a baby. I can't imagine living anywhere else...and we've looked! Nothing on the UWS compares or would meet our needs. The concierge, doormen, maintenance, and management are friendly, helpful, and responsive. The building amenities are such a treat. The roof deck and party room (with it's own private roof deck) are perhaps the primary reason we've stayed in the building. Most building party rooms are dark and lack outdoor space. We use the room every chance we get! Some of the negative reviews reference sirens and construction. We've lived through it...including months of a 7am jackhammer at the school next door. But this is a building in NYC. Any building along Amsterdam Ave will have sirens; EVERY building in NYC will experience construction. Luckily, it doesn't last forever. Perhaps the most special thing about The Sagamore is the effort management makes to build a community. Recently they hosted a S'mores night. During warm months there is weekly yoga in an outdoor garden. My son uses the playroom every day and we've become friends with other families and single residents who live in the building...and have maintained that friendship even when they've moved out! In a city with transplants and transients, The Sagamore feels like home and I can't imagine living anywhere else! read more

Our daughter lived at the Sagamore for over 3 years and has recently moved. It was a great building and experience for her. We live 2 blocks away , the area is fine, lots of restaurants and stores, movies..etc. There is a lot of new luxury building projects in this area. The doormen were terrific and house maintenance staff are very nice and responsive. The amenities are great., roof deck, garden, gym and laundry. They even serve coffee and bagels in the lobby some Fridays. The doormen really look out for you. She has since moved and the management made the move out , very smooth. I am a broker and have sent clients there and would recommend it again. Everyone there is very nice and helpful...expecially Rebecca in the office. read more

Avoid this building.Have had to call exterminator for bugs. I had Mice here(Gross). Heat broken often during the winter. Elevator broken a lot also. Recently phones in conceirge were down for several days. You do not get what you pay for. read more

Our band The Jokr's (Joe Kris Music) recently performed for the Sagamore at a BBQ event on their rooftop that they threw for the residents. From the second we arrived and needed to load in all of our equipment (drum kit, PA, amps, guitars, etc) to the very end they were the most accommodating and friendly people to work with. The doorman (forgive me, Willson I believe?) was SUPER nice and helpful. He offered us their luggage carts to get everything in from the street and up the elevator. He helped us every step of the way (literally). Rebecca and her fellow staff were outstandingly helpful and accommodating. They made our job performing for the residents so easy. They threw quite the BBQ on their roof. The food was delicious, the view was outstanding, the roof deck (and everywhere else) was spotlessly clean. They constantly were offering us beverages, food, and anything else we might need. The residents we did get to meet and talk with were extremely friendly and seemed to really enjoy living at The Sagamore. Although none of us live there I think we were all in agreement that if we ever planned to move into NYC the first place we would look into living in would be The Sagamore!!!! The Sagamore is one of the best buildings to live in. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the building looks great, the apartments have beautiful new wood flooring and brand new appliances, the kitchen cabinets, counters, and other fixtures are all top of the line. The building has a nice gym with lots of equipment, a beautiful rooftop with a great view of NYC, a patio (currently renovating but looks like it will be very nice when it's finished), a large laundry room, a kids' playroom/daycare, a 24/7 doorman, and a business center (with two decent computers, a free printer, and a shredder). Plus a few times a year they give away treats / breakfast in the lobby or throw parties on the roof. The maintenance staff is very helpful and prompt whether they're fixing something in the apartment or helping you hand something on the wall. Is it expensive? Sure, but if you want to live in a nice doorman building with amenities in this neighborhood, it's actually not that much more expensive than other buildings nearby which don't have nearly as much going for them. Only downside is that it is right on Amsterdam, so people living in apartments near the street will sometimes experience a lot of noise. Overall a very comfortable place to live in a great area. read more

I have been living at the Sagamore for almost 7 happy years. The neighborhood is hopping near 189 West 89th st. The building is so well run.. And the management is a pleasure to work with. It's beautifully maintained..my apartment repairs are often done within a day or two. The friendly residents are invited to several holiday parties, during the year, held by the management. The wonderful outdoor space is terrific. I love the Sagamore! read more
