I had made an appointment with a stylist I used to see, but discovered that the manager had scheduled me with a stylist i didn't know. When I called before the appointment, rhe manager explained that this was because sometime during 2020 or 2021 I had cancelled at least five appointment with my previous stylist. This was not true. I had made no appointments at the salon during that time because the stylist had not been vaccinated, and I chose to stay away from the salon because of Covid until this spring.. Since then, I had at least five appointments until this October when i got very sick with RSV and had to cancel three appointments during a six week period. The manager said that because I had so many cancellations in my file, the salon (and the original stylist) had lost money. (The salon doesn't have a cancellation policy that I would have honored.) Anyway, her explanation was disappointing, based largely on an error, and definitely not customer friendly or professional. The Salon itself is nicely appointed and very clean. Staff are friendly and professional. The operation is well organized and they have put in precautions during our collective COVID experience. I went there with my bridesmaids, mother and mother-in-law on my wedding day and we had a great experience with all of the stylists and the make up artist. They were INCREDIBLE!! My hair and make up were perfect. Tanya did the best job- better than I could have imagined. However, I was extremely disappointed with the way we were treated by the management. We were 15 minutes late because of traffic and it was made to seem like the end of the world. (I find it hard to believe that we were the first bridal party to ever be late.) I was also told that I had to choose between getting my nails done and getting my make up done because there were more appointments for the day, even though we had already paid for 3 make up sessions and only had 2 people get their make up done. (And it took all of 10 minutes to get my nails done.) I could hear them getting upset about the fact that I was getting my make up done, only to come around the corner and tell me how great I looked. I realize we were a bit disorganized, but we also paid them a lot of money. It just seemed very fake and I didn't appreciate hearing them be upset on my wedding day, which is too bad because the staff was great and we were really happy with the results. I would give five stars for the stylist and make up artist. read more

I've been going to Salon 16 West for many years now. I have always had a wonderful experience. I have been seeing Tara for an aesthetician and also facial. She is wonderful I highly recommend her! The people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. It's a great place! During the pandemic they were accommodating they followed all the rules they were clean they took your temperature and always had hand sanitizer at the door. I would recommend Salon 16 West for up-dos and wedding hair. Amanda was wonderful and she did a FANTASTIC job with my hair. My bridesmaids and mother, mother-in-law were very pleased with their hair as well. Seemed pricey compared to other times I've had up-dos, but def. did a good job. I had also gone to the salon for a pre-wedding makeup trial and I was very disappointed. I looked horrendous. Face makeup was caked on. The eye liner was all over the place. She didn't listen to any feedback I gave her. So needless to say I got my makeup done somewhere else on the big day. Bottom line: Check them out for hair- but not for makeup. read more

I have been going here for about 8 years and i am always satisfied and i am very particular about my color and cut. Amanda always takes good care of me. The staff is very professional and courteous. Went here for the first time last week after having driven by the salon for several years, and I was pleasantly surprised! The receptionist was really nice, Sonya did exactly what I asked of her and my hair came out great, and the atmosphere was totally relaxed and friendly. I believe it was $37 for a cut and blow dry, which I suppose isn't bad (although I'm used to paying $21 at school, I guess I'm spoiled there), but I will definitely be returning here in the future! read more

Awful salon. Will never go back. The woman who did my hair got bleach on my shirt and charged me for services I did not ask for. She did not do my hair to my liking or close to what I asked for - it is now extremely damaged and I have to cut it. Cost me $75 and I had a 20% coupon. When I explained to the receptionist that I did not ask for the services that were performed she said, "Oh well". This was my first and last time going to Salon 16 West. This is the prettiest and cleanest salon on cape cod. I have my hair cut and colored by Tania. I have course curly challenging hair and she does a fantastic job!! I request for it to be cut dry on straighten hair. And blown out after my color. My hair ends up being super soft, shiney and matches up the color perfect. After my first appointment where the color washed out in two weeks and became very brassy, I went back. The stylist put dark color on my roots and then left me totally alone and without checking me for the next hour and fifteen minutes while she did other customers. She never pulled the color through the rest of my hair so I have two-tone hair and the hair cut is the worst I have had in years. Not going back. read more

I have now gone to Salon 16 West for years after trying many other salons on cape. My hair has been taken care of by many of the wonderful stylists there, and I have never had less than a stellar experience. My cuts, coloring, kerotin treatments and manicures have always been perfect. My stylist works with me, giving me the best cut for my face and lifestyle. Nothing is done to my hair until we discuss what should be done that is best for me. The owner's of the salon have always been wonderful, courteous, professional, always meeting my appointment needs but most importantly warm and friendly. I have never really gotten my hair done at salons- usually I'll pop into the places that cost 11.95$ and youre in & out pretty quick, but decided to finally give a nice salon a try. Paid nearly $40 + tip for a wash cut & blow dry. The cut was nice, although it only involved cleaning up the layers I already had, but the stylist insisted my bangs were too short to cut which was most of the reason I came in to begin with. Now- at first I thought maybe I heard her wrong, since at that point they were literally down to the tip of my nose, but nope, she would not cut them. The salon is beautiful inside but I don't think I'll be returning since I had to go back to my cheapo place 2 days later, where they happily cut my bangs for $5. VERY hard upsell on other services/appointments as well. Not sure if its just because I don't look like the typical wealthy Orleans client, or if the stylist was having a bad day, but I don't have any interest in giving this place another shot. read more

I was a loyal customer here for years & spent hundreds of $$$ on everything they offered. Went in recently for a cut & color, which i was told was 75$. I got the red head. Told her exactly what I wanted & she said it would look bad so she suggested highlights & didn't mention it was double the $. She rushed through them like she was on drugs & missed my roots & literally only cut a side bang. She also left in the middle of my apt. to start another one. Basically I paid 130$ for botched highlights & no haircut. So botched that I had to go back & complain, which i really didn't want to do. Met the owner for the first time. She cut my hair & made it look better & more highlights, but not enough to cover the mistake they made. I cant part my hair anywhere with out it looking horrifying. Didn't get any $ back. Now I have to spend more $ for another salon to fix this atrocity. Don't go here! Theres a good chance you'll regret it. This Salon's full of dumb ladies who don't care about their customers. I'll never go again. When I pay that much $$$ for a haircut, I expect something good. So unprofessional & disappointing. read more

Some would say I am overly anal about my hair. For over 15 years I have methodically straightened my wavy, course, unruly hair with a straightening iron. This grueling process took me anywhere from 30-40minutes to achieve the straightened look I desired! It's not only frustrating to me but imagine how annoyed my husband was waiting for me to get ready! A month ago I was completely fed up and decided to get the Keratin straightening treatment. Words can't express how life changing this treatment was! Yes, it sounds pathetic but honestly I'm a happier person because of it!!! It now only takes me 10 minutes to do my hair and all I have to do is dry it with a brush- NO iron needed!!! I have more free time in the morning before work, more time to spend with my kids and not only do I now get ready quicker than my husband, my hair stays straight the entire day no matter what the weather is. Before I used to loathe getting ready because the process was so labor intensive, now I don't blink twice! I highly recommend this treatment to anyone who has a quarter of the frustrations I had! read more
