Im going to break this down in a few sections because obviously this is general rating. This is a long post, so thank you for taking the time to read this. This is from my experience on July 2, 2021. Staff: Had a GOOD experience talking with the staff who was able to fit 2 services for my wedding in a very busy weekend. There was a mishap with my hairstylist for the wedding and was not able to secure a 2nd stylist to do the rest of the bridesmaids' hairs. Initially, our conversation was about the stylists coming on site to do the services (if it were on site, we would've added more services) - it was discussed, confirmed, and then revised in the afternoon because they couldn't afford to have stylists gone for that period of time. Sure, I can understand that for a July 4th weekend. They then were gracious enough to have the two services done first thing in the morning at the salon. Hair styling: BAD experience. It disheartens me to say that the two updos that were requested (even with pictures sent prior to the appointment) were not what was done. I asked for an updo with integrated braids to add for texture and volume. I sent 3 photos incase the others were difficult to do, I was flexible with the style. My first bridesmaid's hair style was somewhat close to what was sent, but that was a battle I chose not to address because something worse happened. My other bridesmaid, came back with a COMPLETELY different hair style. I'm unsure if the stylist was inexperienced or just disregarded the suggested picture/style, but I was absolutely appalled when she returned with a hairstyle that was honestly, plain and ugly, and NOT what I asked for. The stylist even tried to "fix" her mistake (?) by trying to add a silk flower in her hair that looks like a birds' nest to cover up the negative space (not pictured). Obviously something I did not agree to, or discuss, with anyone. In terms of SKILL, it literally looked like someone put the hair back in a ponytail, and pinned a braid to the head. There was a GRAVE difference of the hair that the rest of the bridesmaids received from my stylist and the ones that returned from this salon. There was no volume, no texture -- overall, it just looked like a lack of effort or a lack of skill. I really could've done a better job. Trust me, it burns me to say this. After: I was troubled by the fact that WE we were requested to come back to the salon to have it fixed knowing that we were on a strict timeline. This was reiterated prior to the appointment. Heavily. If anyone has ever been married, or been in a big event, timing is everything. We simply could not have the girls return, with time not on our side and the possibility that she will return with another hairstyle. My stylist thankfully was able to fix it up a bit to make it look decent just minutes before we took our photos. I do not have photos of the completed/fixed look as you can imagine, we were pressed for time. After the weekend, and after an angry and disappointed email, I was able to get a full reimbursement for the services. The owner got back to me directly and willingly sent a check within the week. I appreciate when a business can take fault in mistakes of their staff. I hope that whoever this stylist was, true action was taken to make sure this doesn't happen again. More training, more supervision, more something.. so that other brides do not have to go through what I went through that day. read more

If you are looking for a good cut and lowlights, this is NOT the place. We just moved here. I told them bangs or Botox (my bangs are cut like a five year old) AND I said NO blond highlights. I have been going to Oceanside for 6 years. Numerous services are offered at this spa. The owner, Joanne, and the many employees are friendly, personable and courteous. The salon is easy to locate, has a large parking lot, is clean and the appointments are on schedule. In the waiting area there are refreshments, magazines, local artisan wares for sale, a book exchange and a delightful collection of items and apparel to peruse and purchase. The majority of workers have been here for many years and they look forward to working with their "regular" and seasonal customers. There is continuous conversation and interesting information being exchanged between the clients and employees making for a pleasant social experience. Today I had a color, foils and a cut. I brought a picture to show the stylists what I had in mind. One stylist, Bethany, did my color and foils. I wanted the highlights to be thicker and lighter than I usually have done and Beth worked meticulously to be sure I was happy. Upon checking the color of the highlights, Joanne suggested a toner to brighten and hold the color. Much appreciated! Next I moved onto Teri who did my cut and a blow dry. She was attentive to my photo and my concern on this new cut. The final result is that I couldn't be happier! I want to note that while I was there, I had the delight of meeting a 90 year old woman who has been coming for "more years than she remembers". Also, there was an elderly woman with dementia and on a walker who was brought in by her caretaker. Three of the Oceanside workers attended to getting her seated and safely settled in the salon chair. This genuine attentiveness that I observed was truly an act of professionalism, respect and kindness. We were looking for a place to get a pedicure while vacationing in the area. We are sure glad that we took a chance on Oceanside Hair and Spa. From the moment we entered until the time we left. We were treated like royalty! I watched as others received services and they seemed equally pleased. I would come here all the time if I lived in the area. read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because of the woman who did my hair. Rewind: my best friend's wedding was yesterday (I was the MOH) and the woman who did my hair was an absolute nightmare. I am a pretty easy going person and would have sucked it up if my look just simply wasn't what I'm used to or what I had envisioned, but it was HORRID. She finished my eyes, brows, and foundation when I asked to go look in the mirror. One eyebrow had a line through the middle of no product, and my entire foundation was blotchy and not blended. Not to mention it wasn't my color shade. I looked DIRTY. I looked like I did when I went on an ATV tour in Aruba through the desert earlier this year. Everyone was in shock including the bride. I would have rather not work make up all day. The woman didn't understand why I didn't like it, was extremely rude to me saying, "it's JUST make up!" - yeah lady, make up I'm spending $80 on for my best friend's wedding day. I had my hair and make up done, it cost me $50 extra to have them come to Ocean Edge to do it for my wedding. I have to say, worth every extra penny!!!! My hair and make up came out spectacular and it was a wonderful experience. My extensions were clipped in on the spot, and they lasted all weekend. Truly impressed with how I was treated. I would highly recommend them!!!! read more

There is nothing quite as luxurious as to come in and see Joanne and her team at Oceanside for a day of beauty. I walked in on a rainy and dismal day and they gave me the full and exceptional service I hoped for. It is like coming home to family! Exceptional hair, color, nails/pedi, facials etc. her whole crew was amazing! One stop shopping that lifts the spirits of her clients. I have seen the compassion and care that the team extends to seniors and those who are handicapable. I place my full trust in them and they make me feel like I am ready to walk a red carpet! And don't miss the gift shop in the front of the spa - something for everyone!! read more

I took my entire bridal party here (7 of us in total), the day before my wedding to get manicures and pedicures. Although the staff was very friendly, the technician doing my manicure cut my nails (which I had been growing so they would be perfect for my wedding day!) was clearly NOT trained or skilled in this area. I asked for a square cut, so she proceed to cut my first two nails all the way to the base of my finger. I did not notice the first, but as she cut the second I looked down, and stopped her. I wanted a simple french manicure - not for someone to cut the nail off entirely! Thankfully another technician came over after she saw the look of horror on my face and attempted to fix the problem. Unfortunately the nails had been cut and she tired her best to paint them with nail polish to cover up the mistakes - but it really looked awful. I was really disappointed. Especially since the price was not that reasonable. The other girls in my party also received below grade quality in their services as well. Even though the staff was friendly, I would NEVER return here ever again. read more

These five stars are not for Oceanside itself. If you ever walked in there, you would know why. The walls are the color of fake dog poop that they sell at Spencer Gifts. Its awful. However, they do have THE BEST stylist ever. Her name is Mariah. I don't know her last name but you don't need it because let's face it, how many Mariah's do you know besides Carey? Anyway, before Mariah, I have never had a good hair cut. She does exactly what you ask her to and she's hip, so she knows what styles are in. So when you say long layers, you get more of the Jennifer Aniston, not Farrah Faucet. She's the best! BTW, the picture I have is of my sisters and me in wigs. So don't judge her skills on that! read more

Had hair and makeup done as part of a bridal party in a wedding. Was a disaster, half of the girls had to have their services Redone by the one lady who did a great job. and thankfully two friends in the bridal party were hair and makeup professionals and were able to help fix although this completely ruined their experience and they had to rush get themselves ready because they spent all their time fixing us. Do NOT recommend. Extremely unprofessional. read more

This used to be the only place I went for nail work on mid-Cape - no more! Worst tech I've ever had. She had no formal training, cut my cuticle and sliced under my big toe, I had to tell her 3 times to reshape my toenails and she missed paint on sides of my nails. On top of the bad work, it was on the expensive side - not to mention with an untrained "tech". Maybe other services are fine, but !DO NOT! go here for nail work!!! read more

I had Rebecca from Oceanside do my hair for my wedding day, and she did a great job. She came with 2 other hairdressers that did my mom, mom in law and bridesmaid hair, and everybody loved them. It's definitely overpriced but I because it was my wedding day it's easier to rationalize spending more to make sure you'll look the way you want. read more

I was very disappointed with my services at the salon. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi. I did not find the services equivalent with the price charged. During the mani, an instrument was dropped on the floor & the technician just picked it up and continued to use! When she was scrubbing my feet, she did not use any lotion or water to put on the pumice stick. Ow! I told her she hurt me on my right foot. When I got home, I noticed that she broke the skin on my left foot which left an open skin wound which really hurts. It is the most expensive salon in the area. I will not be going back. read more

Bad sign when you hear "oh crap" when someone's cutting your hair. Asked for face framing and left with a mullet. My hair was one length about 6 inches below shoulders, wanted to keep it long and now it's above my shoulders They quoted me $150 and charged me $191 even after completely ruining my hair. The girl that fixed it did a great job with what was left but I am still super sad about how awful it looks. read more

I've gone there 4 times now and 3 out of those four times, my bill was pumped way up when I went to check out at the desk. "Oh, that was more than a partial foil, the stylist used a full foil" or "Oh, the low light were extra" The Stylist never mentioned any extra cost, and the way they made it sound like it was all included. It's like once they have you in a chair, they're determined to get you for all they can. I'm price sensitive, so I have to make my salon dollars go as far as they can. You'd think that being in Brewster in the winter, they'd recognize that. Not going back. read more

I went to Oceanside for a perm. It was a great experience. Unfortunately, the first perm came out after one day but I do not blame the hairstylist at all. Honestly it could have been just that my hair didn't take to the chemicals the first time ( I have very straight hair). When I called to let them know it came out, they were very accommodating and set up another appointment to get it redone (no cost to me). Everyone at the salon was very friendly and they want you to be satisfied with their services. Kelly one of the stylists I had was amazing; she makes the experience so enjoyable by keeping conversation going and really getting to know you. I really appreciate good conversation because it can get awkward and boring just sitting in the chair in silence. I will definitely be going to them again for my next perm. read more
