Amazing experience getting a gel mani here! I was in town for a week on vacation and didn't have the time to get my nails done prior. I was going to a "treat yourself" dinner at an upscale place in downtown and desperately needed my nails done. I booked my appointment online and the booking process was such a breeze. My mani was done by Muna and she was such a sweetheart. My mani ended up lasting over a month! I use my hands a lot for work and school so I expected some of the gel to chip eventually, but my mani was flawless. I appreciate Muna's attention to detail in prepping and shaping my nails; I think the prep is what allowed my nails to last so long. Really happy with how nails came out! Cute spot tucked away in the middle of coal harbour/downtown area offering hair, nails and waxing services. Came here with a girlfriend for pedicure based on the reviews. Very friendly service and they did a great job with scrubbing and exfoliation resulting in super smooth heels ready to take on the summer! Colour choices are not as diverse as other nail salons but it's harder to pick with more colours anyway. I went with a muted brownish burgundy colour and they did such a great job with the shellac prep that my nails still look PERFECT 2 weeks later with zero chip and lots of shine even after a few visits to the beach! Very sanitary salon as well with lots of disposable items, however one thing I will mention is that the massage chair does not work properly so if you love a chair massage with your pedicure you might want to call ahead to make sure they are working so you are not disappointed. They are really friendly and helpful on the phone as well and made sure my friend and I could get our pedicures together! read more

Just the first time the gel nail stayed on for more than a month. Apparently the gel weren't cleaned/peeled off properly, so every 2 weeks, the gel will "fell off" and broke... and then eventually I need to find a new nail shop to fix the problems. I was visiting Vancouver and was looking to replace my tired looking shellac. I made an appointment here based on Yelp reviews and and my friend joined too and they were able to accommodate us both. I got a shellac polish and it lasted FOUR WEEKS! It was amazing. No cracks or peeling like my usual shellac and the manicure itself was perfection. My manicurist was so detail oriented and did a wonderful job with the shape of my nail and reshaped several times to ensure that I liked it. The shellac polish they used was clearly top notch and the Salon itself was quite small but very clean. I will return when I visit Vancouver next time. A mani lasting four weeks is unheard of for me! read more

I've been here before when it was under other management and then just came again recently to get some nail extensions with a minnie mouse design! my nails turned out so cute and also lasted 3 weeks, which is unheard of for me. I went again and this time I have an amazing lavender grey colour on my nails (with the extensions as well). The girl you need to go to is Nicki. I think she needs more clientele that want designs since she really only gets to do the corporate lunch crowds. So glad I found her. read more

I live downtown, and I've tried many of the nail salons, and blow bars that are within walking distance, and I have to say THE Salon is definitely a one stop shop for everything you need. I come here for nails, hair, and to even buy my hair products. The service here is amazing, and the salon is very well kept. They really maintain a high level of consistency & quality. I highly suggest making an appointment for all your needs. Walk in's are welcome, but appointments are definitely the way to go. On my first treatment here, I got the spa pedicure and gel manicure. Upon arrival, I was offered a refreshment. There's not a lot of salons that do that, so I was definitely impressed. They had a vast selection of gel nail polish colors and the coolest nail color display I've seen! (you will know it when you see it). I've had two different nail artists for mani/pedi, and both paid great attention to detail. The polish and shape of my nails always comes out perfect, and lasts a long time. You will NEVER get a bad gel job here. I've also had my hair cut & treated by Gienny. She is totally amazing. She gives a great blow out! I've had blow outs all over downtown, and I always end up going home and restyling my hair, but with Gienny, I don't have to do that. She uses special washing & brush techniques. She is also very helpful with hair products, and any styling questions you might have. After my hair appointment, I left THE Salon really wishing I had somewhere special to go. Instead I left feeling fabulous just to go run my daily errands. Haha! My hair was also easy to style and looked fabulous weeks on out after my cut. THE Salon only uses high quality products & equipment. That being said, prices for the quality of products and services is totally reasonable for downtown. I've paid for lots of treatments downtown from other salons that are nearly the same price, but not even close to the same quality of service. I love the pampered and polished experience I get when I come to THE Salon. Also, their selection of Kerastase is amazing! Try the Baume from Kerastase for Styling. She listened when I gave her a heads up re: ticklish feet and really did a wonderful job of trying to minimized any of my discomfort. Visited this salon bar with my friend to get our bridesmaid nails done for our friend's wedding! It was close and convenient to visit after work. I was happy that they could accommodate us on short notice (1 week, with lots of blackout dates on our end). Our nail techs were professional and efficient, and even stayed almost half an hour after closing to ensure my friend's nails were done properly and not rushed. Only thing I would recommend would be to be adjust their hours to close a little later at 7pm instead of 6pm! A lot of people get off work at 5pm so there might not be enough time to get a gel manicure with nail art (but I was told they don't really do complicated nail art, so if you're looking for more complicated designs, you might want to look elsewhere). read more

My girlfriends and I had a great experience at The Salon Beauty Bar. Ang and the staff were awesome and accommodating. I got a Gel Manicure and it was probably the best one I've had to date. The pictures speak for themselves: perfectly rounded and perfectly painted. They had lots of selection for nail colours. My girlfriends all got manicures and pedicures, and they were happy with their results as well. I actually didn't know the price of the service I was getting and was quite happy when it turned out less than I expected. I have paid more before for mediocre gel manicures at other salons, so this was an added bonus - quality for a reasonable price! Will definitely be coming back here again. A tip though: the parking in front is insanely expensive ($7/hr). We ended up parking in another parking lot and walking over. Downtown parking is always expensive but you can save a few dollars parking elsewhere. read more

I've paid roughly the same price, if not more, for a manicure or pedicure in Burnaby/Vancouver area and nothing compares to the quality, attention to detail, and perfection that this salon does! Not only do they go above and beyond what is expected, the prices are so affordable for a Downtown location! They even offer you refreshments while you wait for your appointment, and are very accommodating and considerate. I've given up on all other salons and this is my favourite nail salon in the city. They do my biosculpture gel nails every four weeks. All the nail techs are very talented and careful in their work. I get exactly the shape and style I want. I've never had lift, breakage or chipping and I only have to go back due to nail growth. I also get my pedicures done here and they are luxurious and relaxing. The salon is extremely clean and all of the staff very pleasant. I also appreciate the hours they are open. After initially getting my nails done I loved the way they turned out, however after 30 hours the shellac started to peel which was extremely disappointing after paying 120 for a mani/pedi. Don't mind paying as long as my nails stay for a couple weeks but it was disappointed having them peel especially while I was on vacation. Can't decide if I'll return and give this downtown location a second chance. If so I really hope next time I won't be over paying for nails that last a day. read more

Went here for a gel mani and could not be happier. Prices are reasonable and I can honestly say, it was one of the best, most meticulous manicures and gel applications I've ever gotten. It's the perfect shape and flawless color application--i can't believe how close my technician got to my cuticle while keeping the color completely neat and even just below. My nails are IMMACULATE! I came in from LA and have my regular nail salons there, but this place blew them out of the water. Everyone from the technician to the front desk were very welcoming and friendly. I booked an appointment for two ultimate pedicures and was very excited about my appointment. I am from Newfoundland so when I booked my appointment and gave them my phone number I let the person who booked me in know that the number was a NL number. She said it would be ok and that they would call me to confirm my appointment. I waited and waited, and did not get a confirmation call. I finally called them and she told me the "number didnt work because it is an international number" - I informed her that I did not get a missed call and the number is a canadian number. And she said that the appointment was gone. I am very frustrated with this. They did NOT try to call me because the number WOULD have worked and I did not receive a call (as I was waiting for the call). What do they do when tourists want to come and book in a pedicure? Do they not call them because the number is long distance? Bad service. read more

I'm a veteran when it comes to nail and lash extensions - So sometimes I can be stickler at how the nail extensions are applied as well as how long they last! I've been coming to the Salon Beauty bar for nails for years and have never been disappointed. I've had Yuri, Lili, Mamiko & Khana and wow these girls know how to make great nails! Lash extensions were introduced not long ago - I used to be a client of Mink Salon - probably the biggest salon in Vancouver. When I tried out TSBB's new lash tech - there was a massive difference! Helen was super educated about lash health as well to combine the look you want and make sure your lashes can actually handle the look. Long story short, Mink was giving me lashes that were the wrong shape - therefore too heavy for my actual lashes and causing them to lose strength and deteriorate over time. With Mink, I had to give myself a 2 month break just to save my tiny hairs from disappearing for good! Helen looked at my lashes and told me that "they were like chopsticks on a toothpick" the lashes were too long, with the wrong curve, and was breaking my lashes from where they attach! After a nice 2 hour session, she educated me on the different types of curls of lashes, as well as how you can achieve the same look you want, but in a smarter application of lashes. I loved the open eye look with a touch of cat eye. At Mink, I had lashes that were size 14 in a "C" curl. Helen applied a very light 3D Russian volume with an "L" curl and I woke up with really light eyelashes, normally, when I wake up at Mink, my eyes would feel really heavy! The results were unbelievable. I've had them for over a week now and they STILL look the same and maintain the look of the eye without any droopiness! I now know that my lashes are in good hands and can't wait for my next appointment. Well done, TSBB team! read more
