I had a fantastic experience last night! Izzy pampered me with a shampoo/blow dry and I felt like I died and went to heaven! The shampoo was wonderful from the head massage to the hot towel! If there was a no star option I would have chosen that. They will quote you one price over the phone when you call to make an appointment. Next, when you get there because you are of a different race than the stylist, they will tell you since you have ethnic hair you have to use someone else. Next, the stylist that they try to get you to use charges triple what they advise over the phone and begin to give you a speech about their master level prices. This is totally a rip-off and a way to haggle customers. All I wanted was a rinse to cover my grays hair consist of Keratin regardless of the ethnicity of a person. I get the texture will be different but if you are a licensed cosmetologist you should have been trained on doing a rinse on all hair types and not just a select few. It is blatant discrimination and I am applauded JCPenny would be behind such a policy. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't go there go to Walmart Salon better CS and a rinse won't cost you an arm and a leg. read more

Ella is amazing. She has an eye for color and the skill to give me just what I ask for. My hair is a shorter, edgier cut so it is not an easy one but somehow she moves around the chair, almost like watching performance art, and my cut is perfect. She was doing some fun cutting technique last time I saw her. When she was through, my hair had life again. She had shared with me that she had just been to a training class on texture and blending. Nice to have heard that she keeps up with current trends. I seen Ella do some beautiful things with longer hair as well. A friend told me about her .... she has long pretty layers. Ella never disappoints. Ella also said that the shampoo and conditioner I was using was good but not the right kind for me. I love what she suggested and also grabbed a spray that added fun texture. When i went it was horrible the first steps were great washing and the front desk,but when she was going to cut my hair she never asked me where my part was and when i got home my hair was not even and i got a rash on the top of my head and it is little bumps that have not gone away. read more

This is probably the WORST experience I have ever had at a hair salon. Front desk staff was great, the actual stylists awful beyond words. Went in for a blow out before a wedding and left with my hair looking much worse than before I walked in. I was initially booked with Terri for an original quoted price of 35 dollars. She immediately added on an extra ten dollars for iron work (very fair) but then added an extra ten dollars since my slightly below shoulder length was too long. When I asked how much it would be without iron work, she said she would have to add on another ten dollars since my hair had too much volume. So basically ten bucks for my long hair and another ten bucks for thick hair? Plus she had the WORST attitude. If I could give this salon a -5 rating I would. They completely ruined my hair. I HAD long curly beautiful hair. I wanted to update with the beautiful silver hair that is so popular now. We started the process, which Lucy assured me she could do. And yes, I completely understood this was going to be a process and knew what I was getting into, I thought! After a few months and 3 different hair colors from bleaching, we were ready for the final color. OMG! Horrible! I literally looked like a Dallas Cowboys Football Helmet when I walked out. Royal blue at the scalp and ashy muted gray and completely fried hair! It was nothing like the pics I showed her! Over $500 wasted in the process! And Lucy could not even look me in the eyes when I left there! I now have a hairstylist I love that is trying to fix this mess! Needless to say, she has had to nearly cut all of my hair off and start over! My hair was just ruined! Completely fried! I even lost my curl for a while! WORST experience of my life! The Salon does a great job. My hair is dark also, but says that you have to go gradually on the lights and blonds, however, I will eventually get there. It isn't good to go drastically blond without several shadings first of which tells me they know what they are doing. After a whak job from somewhere else. they are fixing it back to the way i like wear it, but had to cut shorter to even it out. Anyway, it's growing back to how I like it. I had my first visit to the Town East Salon recently. I normally get great results from Keisha at Vista Ridge, however she was out last week. I called Towne East explained, that I was looking for a stylist that could touch up my highlights. She gave me the name of the stylist, I said sure no problem as long as they have worked with African American hair and they are a color specialist. At that point she changed me to Anthony! All I can say is WOW! I arrived timely, Anthony introduced himself listened to my initial request stepped away and came back with a cost quote, I too thought it was a little high however i have found JCP to be reputable, have amazing customer service and stand behind what they sell. Anthony was like the best friend that had a better vision for my hair than I had for me. He pointed to one of the pictures on the wall and told me that's what he had in mind what did I think? I told him to go for it! My hair was much more trouble than he expected I'm sure but Anthony worked with such professionalism and expertise. I just want to compliment him again he is a true artist, he was very confident that I would like the finished product, I absolutely love it!!! as I left the store I bumped into a customer she said "your hair looks fabulous", it told her to go in and ask for Anthony and she did. In actuality a lot of my friends tell me my hair color and style would probably cost double at a stand alone Spa salon and for the results I got I would be willing to pay it. The new style has been such a boost in confidence I really love it. Finally in closing Anthony had a preset appointment to do his mom's hair, true professional that he is, being in the middle of my hair he called another stylist to help with his mom. Sorry, I got ripped off and have no intention of paying them more to do what I asked for in the first place. I just moved to Mesquite, I was a walk in and referred to a stylist that was new. It took 4.5 hours to get highlights and a hair cut. I left not even realizing how bad my hair was. I took survey on my receipt and realized I was also charged for deep conditioning treatment that I never got. I asked to be contacted by a manager, which I was and she redid my hair and also gave me deep conditioning treatment I was charged for. I was only there 3.5 hours the second time... left with with attitude it is best it can be considering where it was. The next day my hair turned a muddy orange color. I called the manager three times now, but she will not call me back. I am going to follow up with store manager. JCPenny should be a name you can trust... But do not trust this salon! Beware!! I lived in Richardson at the time of starting my search for someone I could trust to color my hair. Like anyone else would do, I drove to the nearest location to my home which happened to be the jc penny salon in Plano. It was a terrible experience in fact i literally left in tears! They all gathered around and looked as if they didn't want to touch my hair. Maybe because i had quite a bit and it's very thick and long...Idk. My goal was to get corrective color first then slowly make my way to platinum blonde. To prevent having any damaging or chemical cuts. They literally told me it would be impossible to get blonde (and i literally had blonde pieces throughout my hair) and i would need to cut it to my shoulders and go dark first then return in 6months. I knew that wasn't right I actually have my cosmetology license and i knew they were pretty much telling me anything to get me out of there or to make their job easier! The stylist then said "sorry, i wish we could do your hair but we can't." So after leaving very upset i thought oh no, could i really be stuck with this ugly brassy hair forever?! Cause dying it dark was not an option i knew better!... I went to my car and Googled another salon and the Mesquite location popped up I called and that's when my Angel/Miracle worker Thomas answered!! I cried to him how they treated me and what my ultimate goal was. He listened attentively and told me what all needed to happen to get the color i desired. He happens to be a color specialist and he was confident he could fix my hair!! Well he was absolutely right!!! after maybe 3 appointments Thomas had my hair beautiful healthy and blonde!!! He's very affordable, talented and very honest! I will not go to anyone else for a cut or color he is my hair GOD!! Seriously! If he moves i will travel to him!!! I just recently had an appointment with him and guess what I'M PLATINUM BLONDE! Plano salon said i could NEVER be platinum my hair would melt off. Wrong!!! I'm PLATINUM and my hair is long beautiful and healthy!! Thanks to MY HAIR GOD THOMAS!!! read more
