    Before treatment

    I would not recommend Hil based on our experience. I first reached out to Hil by text to schedule a "Brazilian straightening" treatment for my daughter. I also asked whether the products she uses contain formaldehyde. She told me she uses Brazilian Blowout Free, which she said is formaldehyde-free. According to the product's own FAQ on their website, the expected result is "smooth, frizz-free, shiny and easy-to-manage hair for up to 12 weeks." We paid $350 for the treatment. Afterward, Hil told my daughter to wait 3 days before washing her hair and to use sulfate-free shampoo. My daughter waited 4 days and followed the instructions exactly. When she washed and dried her hair, we were stunned to see zero difference between her hair before and after the treatment - the photos are essentially identical. I texted Hil the next morning to ask why my daughter's hair looked the same as before the treatment. Instead of trying to help, she responded in a very rude and dismissive way, insisting she had fully explained everything prior to service and saying my daughter needed to "blow dry her hair and she'll see a difference in frizz." At no point did Hil tell us that the $350 treatment would not straighten or smooth my daughter's hair at all or that the only effect would be less frizz after blow-drying. We expected straightened and smooth hair, or at least some visible improvement, but got none. Regardless of what Hil claims she communicated, the results simply weren't there, and the before-and-after pictures speak for themselves. The treatment was a total waste of money. I strongly recommend saving your $350 and going elsewhere.

    I recently followed my hairstylist to this salon that she's now working at... It's a beautiful place near Abbott Kinney with ample parking for a change... It's light and airy, modern with beautiful plants all over the place. Really bright atmosphere and a chill place to relax and feel pampered in. My hairstylist, Sandra Ramirez, always greets me with a big smile and hug! She's very nurturing and has sweet energy. I always feel completely at ease and relaxed around her. She is very loving and completely professional. Not only does she do a fantastic job, she always takes the time to really listen to what I want and never rushes my hair cut. Instead, she very methodically cuts away, giving you the style and haircut you asked for. She recently gave me a layered pixie with undercut, that turned out really well... I was a little intimidated, because I've never gone that short before, but afterwards, I felt really liberated! Thank you, Sandra!

    I've supported this business since it opened over 4 years ago, and am really disappointed to report such a negative experience with a newer hairstylist/colorist named Harrel Guetta that I took a chance on when he had no clients and had recently moved here. The owner said I should try him about 6 months ago and I was open since he shared he worked well with thick hair. He began dying my base color hair every 4-6 weeks. I started noticing that my hair color was slowly turning red in between base coloring every 4 weeks and started asking him about it but he either denied it was happening (unless I sent him pictures) or ignored my complaints and took offense to them personally. Unlike a normal professional hairstylist, who would work to correct, he became incredibly defensive. I know he left a salon prior in West Hollywood and spoke negative about it, which was a red flag. As his clientele grew, his arrogance grew with me. I texted him a few pictures of my hair color to ask what he thought was going on and joked that luckily "red is in", and he said he would take a look at it at our next appointment (I was going in every 4 weeks for root coverage and a haircut every 6-8 weeks, giving him consistent business). Today, the owner of the salon, Ashley, out of the blue, informed me that he no longer is taking me on as a client, via text. I asked her why she was informing me and not him, and she could not answer. I tried to call her and she didn't pick up my call. He could have called me himself but no hairstylist in their right mind would drop a client for bad work they did, it's bizarre. He stated multiple times how I have the top 1% thickest hair and how beautiful it is, compared to 99% of women with little hair, but it is a lot of extra work. Also, any chance he could get to slam others in the salon, he would. A young learning colorist named Cristal was doing my root coloring prior, and when he took over, he immediately told me "you look pale" and that Cristal "did not know how to do color" with a look of disgust on his face. Ashley did try to set me back up with Cristal, but how can I go back to her after Harrel said I looked horribly pale because she didn't get my hair tone correct. For 4+ years all stylists I went to have used a Dyson to dry my hair and when I asked him to please use a Dyson he responded in a very angry Tony saying there is no difference between a Dyson and the regular dryer he was using. Lastly, he shared that all the colorists in the salon use "cheap" color because it eats into the amount of money they end up making and boasted about how expensive his color was and only uses the best (to his credit my scalp never burned again when he applied color on me). He repeatedly spoke about how successful he was abroad with a thriving salon and celebrity clientele, so I trusted his credibility/work. Lastly, he raised his prices on me within a few months, to "match" others at the salon, which is unprofessional. We talked about prices in advance and all of my former hairstylists have grandfathered set prices as a form of customer loyalty. I understand increases over years, but a few months is outrageous. There were several other unprofessional behaviors, if you'd like to know more please shoot me a message.

    I've been coming to see Zigi for about a year and a half now. I finally found someone who understands long and fine hair!! We typically just do a trim and I appreciate his meticulous style and that he never takes off more length than I am comfortable with. He is also very knowledgeable about nontoxic product swaps and at home DIY hair remedies, which I love!

    I went to Ziggy after a friend recommended that I go to him. I have had such bad luck with finding stylists/colorists in LA but this is the first time I have left a salon happy. I booked the appointment last minute because of my planned travel and he was very accommodating! Ziggy is super meticulous and passionate about his work and it shows! I was in good hands and he knew exactly how to do my hair without me really knowing myself what I wanted. Overall I had a great experience, my hair looks amazing and the price is well worth it for the amount of time and effort that I received for this wonderful result. I can't wait to come back to him to continue my hair journey.

    I don't know where to start! First of all, Ashley was so quick and helpful to respond to my request to fix the color in my hair. I had described to her that I had just gotten hi-lights for the first time, and the hair dresser did not a do a great job (the colors turned out super brassy and stripey). I sent her pictures of what I wanted to have done and she connected me over to Zigi because he had a time slot open! (Thank you again to Ashley for the response time and all of the help)! Zigi was beyond amazing. Not only did he spend 5 hours thoroughly fixing my hair completely , but he was also so much fun to talk to! I will 1000% be coming back when I need a touch up!:) Thank you again to Ashley for connecting me over to Zigi!!

I wanted a shorter bob in the back and longer in the front. Since this salon is expensive, I trusted that I would be in professional hands. Unfortunately, my experience with Mitra Jam was extremely disappointing and honestly devastating. The first time she cut my hair, it did not look anything like the haircut I asked for. When I explained that I did not like how it looked, she cut even more trying to "fix" it, and it ended up way too short while still not looking like the style I wanted. I also mentioned that I wanted some volume removed from my hair, but instead of blending it properly, she started cutting random chunks throughout my hair. Now, weeks later, I still have pieces sticking out that are barely about an inch long. There is no way to blend them or style them naturally. I literally have to use gel just to keep those pieces down because they stick out everywhere. I truly believe that if someone is not experienced or confident doing a certain type of haircut, they should not perform it. It is honestly unbelievable to pay this much money and leave with your hair completely ruined. Despite everything, she was kind and told me that if I wanted her to fix anything, I could come back. But realistically, she cannot uncut my hair. I normally do not leave negative reviews, but this experience genuinely affected me and I would not want someone else to go through the same thing.

I had booked her last year around November/December, but I totally kept changing dates due to just having a very busy work/mom schedule. Well the time came and Nancy was so kind to remind me about my appointment. I finally was free and went ahead and got my hair done. It came out soooooo amazing! So many compliments too. When I walked into the salon one the hairdressers greeted me warmly and guided me to sit where Nancy normally works with her clients. I felt really warm vibes immediately. Once Nancy arrived (I arrived extra early) she began her magic. But during the process, the gentle approach and her attentive ability to communicate and lather my hair gently sold me. Usually you're used to being splashed here and there, well my experience with other hair dressers. I was surprised I didn't get much water in my ears which is a problem for me since I have ear sensitivity and I'm just used to getting ready and embracing for the worse. I didn't get a wet back at all and I didn't feel rushed ever. I felt very comfortable and welcomed. Do you know how hard it is to find a hair dresser with great hospitality service? I drive all the way across the city to see her and it's worth every minute of traffic. She is excellent at her job, very professional, very communicative, easy to collaborate with and so so sweet. A delight to talk to! I feel so comfortable in her chair, and you know, how awkward this particular activity can sometimes be! Jo is a lovely person and a talented stylist. I'm so grateful for this relationship, both with her and with my hair, which she made me love again by knowing just how to deal with all my problem areas. She knows how to take all the fluffy weight out of my otherwise dense and frizzed out hair. I always come out of here feeling lighter and more beautiful than when I walked in. The price feels like a steal for the quality of the workmanship and the joy I feel walking out. They are usually running on schedule and I have rarely had to wait past my appointment time. I find that they are easiest to get ahold of on the phone in the earlier part of the day, and they do call back on left messages, text and respond to yelp appointment requests, which is wonderful. They get very busy during the day and this is a small team, so the service is personal, even when it takes some time to communicate. This shop is bright, airy, comfortable and clean. They always have good music going, and not too loud. The bathroom is spacious and always well appointed. They sell lovely jewelry, crystals, candles and other items, in addition to luxurious hair care products. Parking is very easy, even tho it's only street. There are meters on Lincoln, but I usually park down Marine or one of the other side streets for free, just watch for street sweeping hours.
