If I could give less than 1-star, I would. By far, the most horrible experience I have had as I am still paying for it a month later with very damaged hair from an inexperienced colorist for Asian hair. The stylist was obviously high as a kite & couldn't remember what she was doing (at one point she asked me what I was still doing there when she hadn't even started) that her assistant had to tell her to step away & take over. The color mixed by the stylist did not contain enough color to cover my roots so after 90min, there was no change except the damage from whatever concoction was sitting on my scalp. Completely unprofessional treatment & lack of respect for clients to not be sober for appointments. There are too many other great hairstylists out here in LA so spare yourself the agony by going elsewhere. read more

I was specifically looking for high quality balayage with an affordable price point - it is really hard to come by in this side of town. Luckily, I came across Jenny Tanzilli. Jenny Tanzilli is at Marina Beach Hair. It is located right next to the Costco Plaza on Washington. Parking is either metered or residential street parking. Be sure to read the parking restrictions! Jenny's chair is located on the first floor of the salon. Upon entering the salon, I was greeted immediately by Jenny. I showed Jenny photos of what I was looking for - natural looking bayalage with minimal upkeep and that's exactly what I got! Throughout the process, Jenny was super sweet and explained exactly what she was doing with my hair. I was in and out of the salon in less than 2 hours! I will definitely book future color appointments with Jenny! Unfortunately, Jenny only works a handful of days a week and gets booked up pretty quickly. Amazing experience for my first salon coloring! Jenny knew I was anxious so suggested no bleach method. My balayage came out great! Subtle but still some nice light browns mixed in to my darker natural color. We moved cross country and I needed to find my new stylist. Since I love my hair and want it to always look on point it can be stressful to find a new person whom you can develop the rapport, trust and communication not to mention dependable results. I enlisted my husband to help me search through all the options available in our area and he found Jenny. I am so glad he did. First star is because I called on a Monday and she was able to fit me in on that Thursday morning. I had a wedding to go to out of town and realized my hair was a disaster and wanted it corrected before the event. That type of accommodation is important esp when you consider the fact that I was a brand new, first time client whom she was willing to make the time to see me. I'm sure she would do this for her current clients but for a new client, it sent the right message. Second star is because she was so warm and friendly. She immediately put me at ease. This is the beginning of a lovely relationship. Third star is because she knows what she is doing. She is definitely an expert at balayage and toning and color correction. My last color had turned shockingly brassy and yellow and I had some serious rootage happening after only 2.5 months from that balayage. I went in looking more alternative than I like and with the ombre horribleness that I didn't want. Jenny T was able to almost completely remove the yellow and brassy tone and lighten me back up to the blonde and bright look I prefer. She used techniques to really minimize the roots and she had the skill to get the color exactly the way I had described but that was flattering to my tones. My hair has returned to a natural state that is sun kissed, bright, blonde and natural looking. Fourth star is because her pricing is reasonable. She even gave me a little trim to make sure my ends are healthy. Going that extra mile for your clients and throwing in something like that really goes the extra mile. Just a trim at my last stylist would have been an additional $50 which was always frustrating. I seriously appreciate that small customer service gesture that was not lost on me - it solidified the fact that I have my new stylist. Fifth star is because she did an amazing job. My hair still feels healthy and the olapex she recommended will help ensure my color lasts. She said depending on the roots I may even be seasonal but could come back for a partial in a few months if I want a touch up. Sharing a before/after so you can see her skill. She has told me she doesn't like me and has kicked me out of her chair for asking about my hair. Beware of whatever she is going through because it is mean and nasty. Jenny was recommended to me by my gf Lauren who went blonde with her and has been to her consistently. She told me that she is an asian hair bayalage rockstar, quick and at fair prices. To be honest with you, I walked into it NOT really expecting much. I knew I wanted bayalage but with my previous history of getting bayalage 4 years ago (one from a caucasion hair dresser AND one from asian hairdresser), my fine asian hair (extremely thin and fine) was fried to a crisp and took all this time to finally become healthy. I was hoping for the best and just hoping it turned out without it being too fried. Of course the second my hair got healthy from my previous baylage, I started getting blonde fomo! Well, come to Jenny and she is a MIRACLE GODSEND. she immediately knew my hair was different even from normal asian hair as in it was extremely fine and could get damaged very easily if we didn't check the color every 7/5/7 minutes. She worked super fast, but was meticulous which i LOVE b/c i hate sitting at the salon for 4+ hours and leave basically cracked out and hangry. I was basically in & out of the salon with BEAUTIFUL blonde bayalage blended hair in 2.5 hours. Jenny and her girls are sweet, down to earth and will tell you/give you the real deal. It's with a heavy heart that I write this review. Today Jenny was slurring her words, smelled of alcohol, and was clearly intoxicated when I came for my 11am appt. I was at here to get my hair done for my baby shower and maternity photoshoot next month. I have been a long time client of Jenny's, over 6 years, and she acted like she didn't know who I was today. I let her know I didn't feel comfortable having her do my hair today based on the state she was in and I left. I am incredibly sad for her for whatever she is going through, but ultimately she has no business doing hair being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Believe all the hype about Jenny! Such a fun stylist and the best colorist I've met. She's currently only taking existing clients or referrals from said clients (I was neither), but she had an opening and was able to squeeze me in. She only works Wed-Fri, and since I'm on a typical 9-5 (work from home) schedule right now she offered me a 7am slot and told me "don't worry, I'll have you out of here in 2 hours and my super power is Asian hair". She definitely delivered! 2 hours flat and she even trimmed my hair and styled it at the end. I feel so lucky to have found such an awesome stylist in the middle of covid. She's also very affordable and doesn't push any products on you which is a huge plus. Rockstar! I initially came to Jenny just to get my haircut and maintain my hairstyle. She won me over with her early appointment times and dry haircuts. I first came to Jenny for a balayage in July, a month before my wedding. She did an amazing job then, so I came back for another balayage today! Good luck finding a great color at that price anywhere else in Los Angeles! She listened to my concerns and preferences without a bat of an eye; There's no ego here, just well-earned confidence. Her prices are great too, she packages the essentials of a balayage/highlight in one fair price, as opposed to having a equally high (or higher) base-price and then adding on with every tone, trim, etc. She clearly wants to make it so you can afford to maintain your color without your needing to take out a loan every month/every couple of months. Also, because I'd mentioned I am experienced in toning my own hair she wrote down what product to use and where to get it, all so I can refresh my hair myself between visits. That's amazeballs. As a side-note, I also loved Marina Beach Hair, the salon she works out of; It is a lovely mix of modern and organic, so if you want a great west side salon experience without the dance-music-thumping, drama-filled snobby-nobbyness that so often comes with salons these days, this is your place! Oh, and the front-desk staff is as welcoming and kind as Jenny and Arianna. Can it get any better? I'm super particular about my hair colorist since I've only been going to the same guy in Asia for 8 years.. he unfortunately wasn't around on my recent trip home and I'm overdue for a hair color - long story short, so so happy I found Jenny! It is clear to me that Jenny is an expert at what she does the minute I walked in. I asked her what suggestions she has for my color since my last colorist did such an amazing job it has grown out very naturally. Jenny immediately gave me an idea of what she has in mind which is actually what I wanted to do to begin with (let's be honest I was just testing her out to see what she would say, because you have no idea how many shops with great reviews I've walked in to and the colorist was tongue tied and keep asking what I want to do). Next, I showed her a pic of the color my friend has that I have considered switching into, but Jenny immediatly very honestly pointed out that that would take a lot more maintenance and work when they grow out and wouldn't last long between color. I really appreciate her honesty and how she has my best interest at heart - she focused on making sure the color would grow out nicely so I won't have to come in for another color for a good long time (I imagine most colorists would want their clients in more frequently :) Jenny worked with my current color and created a beautiful blonde balayage look for me - all done in 1h! I was so used to spending 5hours at my usual colorist's place in Asia I was amazed Jenny could create the same look for so much less time! Jenny also uses Olaplex treatments when coloring so my hair came out nice and soft despite the light bleaching. Best part is, Jenny has all inclusive pricing that include trim/cut, blow-dry and the balayage so I'm really happy to have paid $230 all in! Suffice to say I'll definitely be back :) And the ambience at Matina Beach Hair is super chill I love that too! read more

I've come to get my bayalage and cut done by Jenny three times now and she never disappoints! She has so much life and energy and you can always feel her passion whenever she talks about your hair. I've come in undecided about my bayalage each time and she's always helped me end up with the perfect hair. She made sure not to overly bleach my hair and to use olaplex to lessen the damage. Twice I've gotten a lowlights and bayalage service while this time I decided to lighten up everything. I talked and fangirled over Guy Tang's work with her LOL so you know for sure that she is up to date with all the trends (she also uses some of his products) Definitely trust her on the recommendations she gives for your hair goals.
