I had the BEST experience with my stylist, Nik! She has such a cool, calm vibe, plays great music, and her studio is super easy to find. There's also plenty of free street parking, which is a huge plus. She was a doll, I called last minute with a self inflicted hair emergency and she was able to book me two days later! My hair appointment down the street was abruptly cancelled 10 minutes before my appointment. The manager of the salon was extremely apologetic and said she'd contact a great place that might take me as a walk-in. I was met by Geogiana, a beautiful brunette stylist. She sat me down and asked what I wanted to do with my doo. I wanted to keep my wavy hair long and under control. Geo said, "Don't cut yet." She explained that in a month it would grow out for the better. She the applied some product and showed me how to style it. And suggested a shampoo and conditioner that would eliminate the frizz. My experience with Trim was similar to my experience watching Showtimes Dexter. It started off great but fell off pretty hard. Let me explain. I had been growing by hair out for about a year and decided I needed a trim, and thought a salon would be best. Trim reached out to me and offered me a discount on my first haircut, so I booked an appointment. The salon itself is very pretty and has a great vibe. The cosmetologist shampooed my hair and began cutting my hair, and we were more or less off to a great start. Then about halfway through my haircut she tells me: "Hey by the way, I'm not going to give you a discount on this. Your hair is going to take some work." Honestly, I was embarrassed. I know it had been a minute, but I didn't think I was in need of an extreme makeover. And also, like, I'm not about to protest this when she's in the middle of cutting my hair... I figured if she's going to have to take double the time I guess she deserves it,but I was out the door like 30 minutes after I got there. So now I was straight up confused by my haircut doubled in price when the reason they got me in the door is because they offered a discount. All of that being said, the haircut was pretty good so I decided to call it a win and a day. Now here's the kicker. My brother was getting married so I decided to get a cut before the wedding. I specifically told the same stylist, "Please, don't cut the front of my hair. I want to be able to tie it back in a bun for sports." Tell me why the first thing she did after I sat down is cut no less than 4 inches off of exactly where I told her not to. It's been 7 months and I still can't tie my hair back... But it gets worse. The haircut was atrocious. I walked out of there looking like Ringo Starr and not in a good way if there even is one. Major league bummer showing up to the wedding looking like a Beatle. read more

Vibe: Gorgeous space, refreshments offered, chill music, nice ambiance. Difficult part: When I arrived, I showed example photos and talked through my hopes for my cut with the stylist I was scheduled with. I felt I was very clear, and she seemed on the same page as me. As she started cutting, I could tell she was using a different approach than what I've seen done previously when I've asked for the same cut, but I tried to trust her process. When she said she was done, while it was potentially heading in the right direction, It presently looked more like a flat wispy squared off helmet instead of a sexy, scrunchy French bob. I felt we had built a nice rapport, so I tried to effectively and kindly communicate that it wasn't what I'd wanted, and asked if we could spend a little more time on it. She quickly became defensive and proceeded to undermine my reality by saying it looked exactly like my request, and that I simply didn't understand how hair worked. She told me to sit with it for a week and come back if I didn't like it and that was that. I didn't know how to move forward, this was my first haircut in two years, since giving birth and raising my daughter. I was ready to feel beautiful and reclaim my body finally, and I felt ugly... though it was awkward, I requested to work with a different stylist if possible, to hopefully repair the cut and leave feeling good. Saving grace: In walks Brandee, who immediately met me with kindness and compassion. She didn't make me feel like I was a difficult person or asking for too much. I showed her my example photos, explained to her what I was hoping for and why the cut I had wasn't what I had wanted. She completely understood. Without undermining the other stylist, she validated that my cut was not quite what I had asked for and expressed confidence that she could fix it. She then proceeded to make me feel incredibly safe and comfortable, chatting with me about my life and sharing stories about hers, all while cutting my hair to perfection. I didn't think it could be saved because so much had been removed, but she pulled it off with grace and execution. This haircut experience started out stressful and disappointing and ended positive and satisfying. I'm very grateful to the front desk for quickly helping me shift stylists when they saw I was struggling, as well as only charging me for one cut. I'm deeply grateful to Brandy, who I will be coming back to, for making me feel sexy and cute again after having my baby girl. read more
