This place is really a peaceful gem! The owner, Tim, is so friendly and excited about the health benefits of salt. Walking into The Salt Escape I immediately felt very relaxed and serene. Once I stepped inside the salt rooms, it was full on relaxation and quiet. The temperature and lighting was just right, there was quiet music playing in the background and the door is closed to block out any noise from the lobby area. Tim showed us the different areas of the salt rooms and the warming bench areas. There are pillows and blankets for additional comfort. I also tried the zero gravity chair in the main room. My favorite was just being able to lay down on the warming bench feeling the heat on my back while inhaling the pure air in the room. The salt air was clean and there are so much health benefits to being immersed in the salt setting. That night I slept incredible. Probably the best sleep I've had in a while! I loved my experience so much I pre-purchased additional hour sessions from Tim for future visits. Oh ... while you're there don't forget to say hi to Tim's sweet little dog. Batman! Very relaxing place. We bought a Groupon for 2 and it was very cheap. You have to call in to make an appointment. In the salt room, they have chairs, bed, and floor seating whatever you prefer. It was just 2 of us during that session. The ambiance in the salt room was amazing. Very relaxing. After our session, we talked to the owner and he was very polite and said people love this place and they come in groups. They also have a lot of stuff to sell. This was just the place for some much needed relaxation time. I mean for real, if you need some time to just completely mellow out, mediate, and even fall asleep, the Salt Escape is the place to go. Located in downtown Arlington Heights, the Salt Escape is a unique experience where you get to come in and rest in their relaxing, dim lit, salt-encompassed room. I mean it was literally one of the coolest places I've been to in the area. People have birthday parties and events here, too, which I learned when I was there. They also sell a lot of cool products like salt lamps, different oils, fluffy blankets, etc. They have sessions almost every hour where you can book online or call in advance. During these sessions you have around an hour to rest, sleep, meditate, and breathe in the benefits of all that Himalayan salt. You won't want to leave that room! (Each session is $40) The owner here is awesome; he tends the front desk and phones a lot. Super friendly guy who will answer any questions you may have. They also have the sweetest dog, Betty, that's here everyday! SO adorable! I do want to add that I've came here once before (probably 2 weeks ago) during their open hours to find their door locked and no one in sight except their cute dog, Betty, who barked for a little and then sat and rested. I called them twice when I was outside their door but no one answered. I waited around 5 minutes just in case they went to the bathroom or something but still nothing. I see some other reviews mention this happening to them, as well, so just beware! I'd call first before stopping in. Overall this is one of the coolest experiences Arlington Heights has to offer, and that's coming from someone who grew up and is still living here. Relaxing looking room. Plenty of available parking, and parking in underground garage as well. I'd just add about an extra 5 minutes to travel time to allow for parking in the below ground garage. Nice clean looking establishment. Free small lockers to hold small things like cellphone and keys. My main issues was that this was my first time and they didn't go over how things worked there. I had to fumble around with the noise canceling headphones to figure out how to get them to work. They just dampened the noise and it was just alright with them on. (We were asked to arrive 15 min early to our appointment and only made it about 5 min early so that might have been on us not arriving on time) Honestly the left side of the room is pretty close to the speakers and the percussiveness of the music was a bit too much for my taste. I could have moved to the other side of the room, but was already settled in and didn't want to disturb others by making noise. I also didn't know there was a little room off to the side that you could just sit in the salt. That would have been nice to know was an option beforehand. Only noticed it because someone walked in there as people were leaving when the session ended. Floors and most of the walls were Himalayan salt which was nice. Blankets were very soft and comfy to use. It was a bit chilly, so blankets were greatly appreciated. read more

The Salt Escape is a unique experience is the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. Park in the parking garage below Starbucks/Bath and body works etc. The Salt Escape is in a shop upstairs by the old movie theatre and noodles and company. There is a Groupon available for $40 for two people for one hour - I think it's a pretty decent deal. You arrive 15 minutes early before your appointment, remove your shoes and jacket and then you can enjoy the room, from my understanding it is the biggest Himalayan salt room in America. The walls are made of the salt - there are ocean sounds everywhere, comfy beds with the salt on them, no gravity chairs to relax in, a meditation room with bean bag chairs and noise cancelling headphones are available for you to use as well. I left feeling really relaxed and like my sinuses were cleared/no congestion. I'd recommend if you're in the area and want to try something relaxing that's really different. read more

First time checking out this escape. Very quit when entering, loved the puppy walking around. Owner or management was very friendly explaining the salt escape and the steps before entering. Once we got settled down inside it was well worth our money. Very relaxing, you can feel the demerit, the soft music puts you to sleep and even some areas are warmer which was a plus. A suggestion or two for first time customers.... If you are not informed at check in or as entering the Salt Cave about the nueomcea to make your experience comfortable------ know now you need to ask!! We were not provided helpful details about noise cancelling head phones, (there was a snorer with us) blankets, and choice of spots (heated beds, a small separate cave) We were there 20 minutesearly, plenty of time to have been informed. The staff seemed to know the other group that arrived atter us, they were invited into the room first.... we thought they were actually doing a different treatment, After our session, we voiced the disappointment- we were told that there was no time to go through everything because the other group was settled and waiting. ------------------- My reply to Tim post: I don't how to respond directly to your post- but looked like others had said similar things as myself previously- wish I saw them -- FYI - someone was in the separated Salt Cave and headset was not by my friends chair- This is not worth my energy- new customers be warned.... love this place very relaxing and helps me when my muscles are tense or in pain and when I'm feeling exhausted and run down. it's very cozy I like the set up you have several options on where you can sit and or lie down even hot salt stones are provided if you would like to enhance your experience. I also have bought cbd creams made by the owner that are scented with mango or frankensence essential oil. handa down they are amazing and worth every penny whether It's pain you have from the gym any type of knee/joint pain, from texting or typing and or yard work it works for anything and everything. since now it's cold flu season he even has a chest rub made from menthol and essential oils that works way better than Vicks vapor rub. What a magical place of peace. You'll feel transported to a different place. Far from the hustle and bustle. Arrive 10ish minutes before your session to browse the little shop area, use the restroom, lovk away your phone and valuables if you like, take off your coat and shoes and off you go into the room. You can choose to sit in salt, lay in it, on zero gravity chairs or - my absolute favorite: a heated amethyst mat! They have soft sound playing and ear things to tune it out. Lots of blankets if you're chilly. You can softly roam around too and relax for an hour until someone comes to softly nudge you awake or letting you know that the session is complete. The walls are made of salt. There's loise salt everywhere along with crystals. A few hooks for belongings inside the cave / room too. I've been twice! The first time it took me a while to settle in. Accept the calm. No phones, no distractions. The second time I meditate and went on a little manifestation journey. Pure bliss! read more

I fell in love with the puppy girl named Batman (yes, Batman's her name). And her kind and gracious Papa, the shopkeeper, who explained to me that the necklaces that I picked out for a couple of friends of mine whom I was visiting in Chicago, the artist put wolf's hair in each, as a symbol of protection. Which I thought was appropriate gifts for friends, one works as a school-based therapist and the other as an OR nurse. The salt cave therapy experience is my first time. I found it relaxing and calming. I basically took a nap the whole time :-) As to its purported health-related benefits, I probably need to go back 2-3 more times to appreciate those benefits. But to be honest, I thought that it cleared my head. Salt Escape is located in Arlington Heights. My kids gifted me a visit to the Salt Cave for Christmas. I was extremely lucky to be accompanied by both of them for a relaxing visit to the salt cave and the experience it did not disappoint! We walked out of the cave feeling way less stressed, light and rejuvenated. It was exactly what we needed! The 5 of us had a Groupon on Thursday, August 25th. The store was locked up, the lights were off, no sign of life with the exception of this adorable puppy all by itself in the store. We called multiple times, left messages & stood there to no avail for @ least 30minutes. We went to lunch & came back. Five more women were there also waiting for their appointment. It is still pitch black, still locked & the poor puppy was still there. Thinking something might have happened & concerned about the unattended puppy, we called the police. The police FINALLY got ahold of the owner only to find out they were closed for the day. No note on the door, no return phone call, no apologies for our inconvenience, NOTHING. The lady that made the appointment called a few days later & spoke to the owner. She explained to him what transpired & he kept changing his story. When she explained our concern & we called the police he HUNGUP ON her. She tried calling back & he wouldn't pickup. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR‼‼‼ We went back today to use our Groupons that we had paid for. The owner wasn't there but the employee was & she was very pleasant. However, when my friend explained what happened on 8/25, again no apologies, no explanation, no compensation, NOTHING. To me this is an utter & total disrespect for your customers, complete lack of common courtesy & extremely unprofessional. I purchased two promotional 10/packs when they opened in the fall and so far, the Salt cave has been a really awesome place to relax and be alone. I've taken my grandma with me because she's good at these types of activities where you cannot talk or have electronics. I recommend this to those who have environmental allergies like me. It's pretty awesome to have a "pollen free" 45 minutes of quiet! I also feel better overall for about 2 hours in my joints and spine where I have a lot of inflammation. read more

very disappointed. brought my daughter for relaxation. not our first salt cave. loud and constant talking by owner and others outside of salt room- until I finally went out to tell them. by then, too late to relax. of two available lavender beds in salt room, one being used by worker's son the entire visit on his well lit phone, so no chance to use lavender bed by paying customers in room. also not a true complete salt room. many areas are particle board or decorations. such a disappointment and waste of our time and $$$ this time. read more

Looking for a fun way to escape the nasty Chicago winter? Look no further- The Salt Escape is now open in downtown Arlington Heights and is just the answer! This is my first experience at a salt cave, and I was excited to learn it had moved into town. Conveniently located on Arlington Heights Rd., it wasn't difficult to navigate to. We found parking in that little lot near the movie theatre, Yankee Candle, etc., and then walked just a short distance to the salt cave's entrance. Making an appointment online for beginners like me: I found a schedule of available sessions on their website, although it's not a user-friendly way to make reservations, especially if you're looking to book an appointment for more than one person. BOOKING HINT: on the main page, scroll down to the Arlington Heights location and select "Book Now", then find the tab at the top labeled "Salt Therapy Sessions" to find availability. It's still confusing because both 50 minutes and 45 minutes are noted at the same timeslots, but the actual session time is 50 minutes (I have no idea what the 45 min. means). The schedule shows how many remaining spots there are. So, pick your time by selecting "Sign Up Now". You'll need to create an account to register this way, and in doing so, you can list info. about yourself and other family members who you might also make an appointment for. In my case, I was making an appointment for myself and my mother-in-law, so I added both of our names to my account. ANOTHER BOOKING HINT: Once you add yourself to the schedule, you can't later add someone else. This is where I got stuck at first. I called the phone number provided and left a message, but after a couple of days, I still never heard back. So, I figured it out: you need to schedule your family member to the appointment first, and THEN schedule yourself for the appointment. At the time of booking, you can register as "unpaid", and you'll just pay when you complete your appointment. Once you've navigated making an online appointment, it's time to show up for it! The website says there is no special dress code, except suggested wearing white socks (you won't be able to wear your shoes past the front door). We brought slippers to put on once we took our shoes off. Think COMFORT and RELAXATION- and dress accordingly. We were the first appointments of the day and showed up early, so we got to head into the salt room right away and get a little extra time there before the session officially began. Upon entering the salt "cave", you'll immediately notice the serene environment: dimly lit, flickering candles, the sound of the ocean playing through the speakers. Find yourself an available zero-gravity chair and get comfy! They provide you with the softest, most comfortable blanket I've ever seen, which was much needed (the room was surprisingly cold). Next to your chair you'll also notice noise-cancelling headphones should you choose to use them (I did, and am happy to announce that it didn't cancel out the sound of the ocean, but cancelled out any other annoying sounds that might've been present). Once your session begins, it's up to you to find relaxation and just breath in the salt, listen to the waves, and enjoy! Takeaway: I assumed I'd leave there smelling like I had spent the day at the beach, and feeling like I had salt in my hair and on my face. I expected the room to be warm and beach-like. Although my assumption couldn't have been more wrong, I am happy with my experience and am really looking forward to heading back! read more

The actual cave/room was larger than most making the need to social distance easy (we had a private session and didn't need to but clearly enough room for others).
