First of all, I just want to say I flew into town for a short trip to visit my friend for my birthday weekend and saw this on Groupon and seemed like a nice establishment with professional staff. However, the professionalism of the staff proved otherwise. I attempted to contact this company to schedule my appointment through multiple calls, emails and voicemails. They didn't get back to me until 3 days, the day I was returning home. The receptionist asked me if wanted to schedule an appointment a week out(after I clearly explained that I am only here for a short stay and supposed to be leaving that day). My friend and I arrived for her scheduled appointment that was confirmed through email only to find out that they did not have her scheduled massage appointment in their schedule. She then twists the story to deflect blame on her end and make it seem as if I made a miscommunication with them. She tells us that she's "sorry and we'll have to come back another day because the massage therapist isn't there to service her." Since it was her mistake, I tried to get her to accommodate us with a gift card or something for the inconvenience. What really took the cake, was when I was in the midst of asking her to accommodate us for the inconvenience, her rude manager/Boss, Crystal, decided to jump in and talk to me from way across the room and insist that "there's nothing we can do, the therapist isn't here right now" and continued to argue with me in a very rude tone that was condescending and ignorant, given she had no context of what was happening. She was totally unprofessional and did not have the decency to walk over to talk to me and my friend about the situation before jumping in. People make mistakes, but it was the lack of accountability, professionalism, and customer service that really stood out to me. read more

It's hard to find this place in the first place. Then when I finally got there, everything was fine. However, when they took me into the room it was FREEZING! Usually the massage rooms are hotter but this one was freezing and I was so cold the entire hour which made the experience unpleasant. Then adding on, instead of the normal sheet they usually use they had PAPER for the face "pillow". It was horrible.... It resembled the toilet paper seat covers they use in public restrooms. So it was all crunchy and very uncomfortable to have paper smashed on your face for an hour! Crystal did a good job but she "massaged" a neck muscle that in all my years of getting one I have never had anyone massage this and it was completely painful... and I still feel it the next day so I'm not sure what it was but it was not pleasant. This review is for Shala Plus Med Spa which is located inside/ in conjunction with Health First Wellness Center. I found Shala Plus through Groupon looking for laser hair removal in my area. Their website is super informative and I was contacted directly by an esthetician to answer my questions, help me through the process and to book my appointment with the groupon via email. This was extremely helpful due to my busy schedule! I made my first session appointment for a Saturday in May and was contacted a few days ago because there was a cancellation for today, which I of course jumped at! I was very anxious to get the first session started, but was also a bit nervous. My laser technician, Victoria was AMAZING! She made me feel welcomed and informed before starting the session. Throughout the actual laser session, she talked me through the entire process letting me stop her if I needed to take a break. She let me know every move she was making and why which made me feel comfortable through the entire session. She expressed her excitement for me through the whole appointment saying how this will change my life :) Overall, Shala's front desk, location, cleanliness and staff are an A+. Went in for a "consultation" did a few things that I could use my gift card. Ok, fine. Came back in a week and tried scaring me that I had all these things wrong with me and had this "plan" all set up for me. This "plan" was already typed up and ready for me to sign. $980 was my out of pocket expenses. This "doctor" was more like a salesperson. What a scam! Come in for a free massage and pay us $1000!! I have been a patient here for about one year, and absolutely love the service and the staff! As part of my treatment, I routinely work with Dr. Nickolas Lorenz (Naprapath) in order to address persistent back pain, apocalyptic knots, and vertigo. The treatments I found most successful include the deep tissue massage, cupping, and Gua sha. Dr. Lorenz is highly professional and holds himself to a high standard of excellence. Dr. Lorenz did a great job of listening to my ailments and made an effort to understand how my body works, and adjusted treatment as necessary. You can tell he cares about your wellbeing, it's not just about getting through patients and billing hourse. Another aspect I appreciate is the digital music selection; his office always has the calming sounds of waves (someplace tropical) or relaxing beats (he's a music lover) to get me in the right mindset. Upon looking for an alternative method of treatment for my chronic stomach issues, I decided on my own to try going to a chiropractor. I found this place on Yelp, and since it had good reviews, I gave it a try. Dr Elahi seemed to think that my thought process was valid upon our initial visit, and I ended up getting a single massage to alleviate my current symptoms. Upon my second visit, however, he dared lay out a grand scheme of having me come in for not only regular and routine chiropractic work, but also massages, emotional therapy, nutritional counseling, and physical therapy. It sounded and felt like they were vastly more interested in selling their scheme than actually making me better. That was my last visit there. What really turned me off to this place was the fact that I never saw a bill, but received calls from a COLLECTION AGENCY about what I was past due on. I had to call the office several times to get this cleared. Better yet? This happened TWICE, once being from a visit that was supposed to be a no-charge office visit. I can't speak to anything but my massage with Crystal, as I have never experienced any other services through Health First but my massage was AMAZING! I am always apprehensive about having a woman masseuse because I like my massages a little on the rougher side, but when I saw the Groupon I thought I'd give it a try. Crystal was really great about making sure that there was adequate pressure and she worked on all my tight areas, including some I didn't realize were there! I don't mind speaking up during a massage if the pressure needs to be adjusted or there is an area that can use some more attention, but I didn't need to give any direction at all with this one which is a huge plus because I was able to just relax and enjoy. Went into Shala Plus for my first chemical peel and laser hair removal session. Jackie and the other girls were very friendly and welcoming. The lobby is a comfortable place to wait with tea and coffee available, but I was taken care of right away so I didn't spend much time out there. Everything was very clean and the chemical peel was a very relaxing experience. I have issues with redness, mild acne and combination dry/oily skin. It has been a few days and my skin is feeling and looking great. My first session with the laser went really well, with no redness or irritation. Jackie made me feel informed and comfortable during boh the treatments. They have some great products here that Jackie let me know about, but I never felt pressured to buy and products or services. I can't wait so finish my laser treatments and I will definitely be back for some more chemical peels. read more

Let me start off by saying that I love this place! Their Zumba classes rock. They have very fun yet knowledgeable instructors who make my work out something I really look forward to. I walk out of their classes exhausted and happy. You are sweating and working out every part of your body simply dancing and having fun! It is really the best place for Zumba I have ever been to. I purchased a groupon for 2 massages here. I initially thought 2 ppl could go but 1 person had to use both massages. I scheduled the first massage for a Sunday at 9am which is the day & time offered to me. The parking lot was empty & so was the building. The receptionist was nice but my massage therapist was late. It was a male therapist but I forgot his name... He said he specialized in sports massages. The massage was not good at all. It was as if he did not know what he was doing & tried to find things wrong with me. I wasn't in pain or tense prior to the massage but I surely did not feel relaxed afterwards. He also massaged me through the sheet the majority of the time & did not massage both legs or both arms. I scheduled my 2nd massage but decided to cancel it because it was not worth it to go back. The reason is because i wont go anywhere if its not through someone that has referred me to the place. I decided to give it a try because i read reviews on how great Victoria the laser technician is and let me tell you she is awesome at what she does!!! I was so nervous the first time because i never go to a place without a referral but she made me feel right at home and explained everything before she started . The second time i went i was much more relaxed because i knew what to expect. I already went to my second treatment and i have had amazing results!!! This laser machine does work! I have been here to get a massage from Ruel Mallari. He is an excellent massage therapist. But I have to say that trying to reach someone by phone here is almost impossible. Whenever I call I have to leave a voice message and then it can sometimes take them up to the next day to return my call. This is not acceptable and makes me want to go somewhere else for my massage services. I'm not sure how you stay in business with the set up they have for answering phone calls. read more

I was suffering with severe neck pain for over four months. The pain was so debilitating I contemplated retiring in September. A coworker recommended Health First. I was skeptical but desperate to resolve my neck issues. At first the pain got worse, which the chiropractor told me it would but after a few weeks of chiropractic adjustments, massage and physical therapy, I am pain free and look forward to continuing my career. The treatment I received at Health First far exceeds my expectations. Priscilla and Crystal are the best massage therapists, all the tightness in my neck and back muscles are gone. The deep tissue massage hurts at first but once they loosen up all that tightness the massages are heavenly. I bought a Groupon for a 60 minute massage. First, it was very difficult to schedule an appointment. I got rescheduled twice because the massage therapist had to cancel. When I arrived for my appointment the parking lot was empty, no one was at the front desk, and the light were turned off. The place is very odd, not your typical massage therapy. There were a few fitness classes going on in the back so I asked them for assistance. She started calling out the massage therapists name, then said that she must be in with another massage. My appointment was at 7pm. I waited for Perscilla, the massage therapist, for about 15 minutes. When she came out she asked if I was the one yelling her name. I said no and was about to explain but she walked away. She asked if I could wait a little longer because she was backed up. I didn't have a problem waiting. Perscilla didn't bring me back into the room until 7:30pm. I was brought to a physical therapy room instead because of the exercise classes. The beds weren't comfortable. Although the massage was decent it was over by 8:00 pm! I thought it was really short but didn't realize it until I got dressed. Unfortunately I didn't say anything at the time, but did call back and complain. They didn't care, I didn't even get an apology! I will NEVER go back and I get massages monthly. Don't waste your money, lots of other good places get a great massage. read more

I saw a special on Groupon for this place on laser hair removal. Initially everything was fine until I missed my appointment slot. I thought the girl had scheduled me at 1pm but in fact my appointment was at 11am. I called the office 7 times and no one answered. The owner of the place, Asya, explained to me that I was in fact scheduled for 11am and that I had confirmed it. I explained to her that I honestly thought the appointment was at 1pm and she said she could do nothing for me. She said I had to either forfeit the session or pay $50 to miss it. I asked her as a one time courtesy if she could do anything and she said 'no.' I was very upset and told her go ahead and forfeit the session and refund me my money on the other two sessions and she said she wouldn't do that either and that it was my own 'personal choice' not to come to the other two sessions. Since, I purchased directly from their website 'Groupon' can't do anything about it. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau because I have the right to ask for a refund on my other two sessions since I paid for all six up front. read more
