A good workout indeed, and some time away from the world to learn new things about your body.

Out of 10 of us, only 1 had/has dance experience and yet she made us all feel so comfortable! She was a great teacher and we all had so much fun. We definitely plan on doing another dance lesson with her again! It was in an old Junior High building that looks questionable on the outside but the inside is incredible! Redone and lots of other little businesses in there with an event venue as well. But our class was right by the front entrance. Easy to find!

My friend and I signed up for the Pole 1 Technique class with Justin. First, the space is absolutely gorgeous. Its in what looks like a converted school building and the large draped windows and hardwood floor made me feel like I'd walked onto the set of Fame. Super cool! Justin was warm and encouraging and did a great job communicating the fundamentals. I was super impressed by how he explained body movement and hand placement etc so clearly. It was my friends first pole class ever and she was able to learn the pirouette, the dip spin AND the mermaid spin in the first class! Justin was able to give me more challenging modifications and did a really wonderful job of working with everyone in the class at the level they were comfortable. I had such a a fun time and good workout, I wanted to book a class the very next day, but my schedule didn't allow it. Thanks Moxy Movement, we left our vacation with some lovely memories and new skills on the pole. Def recommend!!!

The building is compact with many other business surrounding the plaza. Once you walk in, the front desk is to your right and compartments for your stuff is to your left. It is very well lit with many poles in a slightly cramped area. The class I went to was pretty packed, there were only 1-2 free poles left in the studio. The teacher was teaching using the middle front pole, as per usual. The class I took was a beginners class (Bombshell I) and was $20 for the class. I came a little late, so I missed most of the stretching and I joined in for the first trick after doing a little of my own personal stretching. As we were learning the tricks, I felt like the class was rushed. I really enjoyed how many different tricks I was learning, but I was not able to really get it down and the teacher only came around to see how we were doing for some tricks and sometimes would not get to everyone before teaching the next trick. The pace and the minimal help that I was receiving made it difficult to really get anything down. Overall, I really enjoyed how many different things I learned in the 1 hour class; this class introduced me to the most pole tricks I've ever been exposed to through one class. However, I felt like the class was impersonal and rushed. I have been into pole fitness for a few months now and I have been searching around Utah for my perfect pole studio. La Bombe was one of the last studios I looked into and out of all of the studios I had gone to, this studio was the worst fit for me.

My friend, Shirley, invited me to both (she was an instructor here at one point), but still attends as a student. After showing some of our friends a clip of her performance, we came for our first drop in class. I haven't gotten to do aerial arts in a long time, so I was excited to go! I was surprised my husband wanted to go as well! The studio is located in a warehouse type strip of businesses in the Sandy/Midvale area on the west side of I-15. The space is very spacious and used for performances/events as well (seating tends to be tight during the events, but still so fun to attend). Signing up for classes is pretty simple, and can be done on the MindBody app/website. Classes are pretty affordable compared to other aerial studios (and gyms in general that offer drop in classes). We ended up doing a first time drop in for the Hammocks 1 class. It did take place alongside a Pole and Silks classes. Our instructor, Kortnie (who was subbing) was great! She was so patient with all of us, explained the combos thoroughly, and came around to make sure we were getting everything. We all had a lot of fun. My husband really enjoyed the challenge an wants to come back to try more classes (as do I, as I miss doing aerial classes - it had been quite a few years for me). I also wanted to mention how much I appreciated that the events Onyx puts on also helps to raise money for scholarships for those who have trouble paying their tuition/student fees and/or to future students who could use these arts. What a fun studio! Thank you Onyx team for all you do!

I've been here twice now and it is so great. I was hesitant at first because it's all so new and…read morepole dancing/fitness is so hyper-sexualized, it can be uncomfortable but this place does everything right. Nothing is outside your comfort zone (emotionally speaking), the instructors and fellow classmates are great, the atmosphere is encouraging and not judgmental. Physically, it will be fairly challenging but nothing too scary - even in an entry level class, you will have people with all levels of beginner ability but you don't feel ashamed when you can barely get yourself up off the floor while holding the pole. I definitely didn't get the "huffing and puffing unathletic kid in the gym class" feeling like I have in some other workout classes (spin, I'm looking at you). Be prepared to be sore in the days after your first class. No joke, I walked out of my first class, thrilled with how much I enjoyed it, but a little bummed that I didn't sweat and get a good workout. The day after, I became intimately aware of muscles I didn't know I had since they were all screaming at me every time I moved. I sneezed and it felt like my abdomen was ripping in half. So, if you are like me and hate working out, do a pole class. You will have so much fun, you won't notice just how hard you're working your ass off until you get home. Another thing - ignore the review complaining about how this gym should have been okay with a student being 10 min late. It clearly says in their policies that this is not okay. It's also a 60 min class. Missing ten minutes is kind of a lot and the lessons teach you moves in order. You also need to be warmed up so you don't injure yourself. Being late is not respectful or safe, so please be on time (or don't get mad when there are some consequences to being tardy). Lastly, this place is difficult to find. Remember it's unit 114. There is no sign and the building it's in is a business complex so it feels like you are in the wrong place. Just look for "114" and you will be all set.

The dance rooms are spacious and have mirrors along the walls which are perfect for classes. It's a little dingy and has a "backstage" vibe. Parking can be dicey since it's in the Trolley Square complex. I've taken basic hip hop and hip hop choreography, and both have been a great way to step outside of my comfort zone as a dancer and learn to build muscle memory when it comes to choreography. The instructors are extremely talented and hold a wonderful space for students at any level. I have found that some of the hip hop classes do choreography to different genres, but nonetheless, the classes are engaging and entertaining! Single classes are a reasonable $16, but you can purchase multiple passes at a time at discounted rates and to get a feel of which classes align with you. I'd recommend Millenium to anyone looking for a high energy workout in a professional setting!
