I want to love this place, but it's just so damn expensive for a parks dept course. Driving range prices have gone up from $18 when the top tracer range opened 8 mo ago to $20 now. What are we doing here. 10% increase a year from now on? It's a nice place, I like the course and the practice facility but it's priced way too high imo. I've enjoyed the group of golfers at this course, but recently I've had several encounters with non-golfers who don't seem to understand how a driving range operates. Instead of moving to an open stall or waiting behind a golfer who's nearly finished, they've been standing at the door as if waiting for an amusement park ride. Normally, when a stall opens, you simply step in, but today, when I went to take an open spot, I was told by one individual that I had to wait in line by the door like everyone else. lol. I tried to explain to him how it works, but he became belligerent, swearing and causing a scene and then he threatened me. I reported the situation to the pro/manager, and though he fully agreed with me all that he did was look at the range and chose to do nothing. Unfortunately, this reflects a real decline in the overall experience and atmosphere at this course. For a better and safer driving range experience, I recommend Cog Hill, Green Garden, or Prairie Bluff - where the facilities and golf culture are much more professional-- and Praiirie Bluff has better mats, Titleist range balls that feel amazing, and all of these ranges have a more serious golf-culture where the game is better understood. For reference, I am a low single-digit handicap golfer with nearly 20 years prior expeirence in the golf industry and a daughter playing Division 1 golf, I'm deeply disappointed and could not reccomend this range at all. We've spent a significant amount here over the past five years, but we no longer feel safe or valued. We won't be returning. read more

That round was a horrific experience. We finished our round within their pace of play at 4 hours and 15 minutes and had rangers harassing our group 7 out of the 18 holes. Then the course pro was rude when addressing the experience read more

never played there before so played recently and was impressed. first off the people in the pro shop checking in were very nice. my range finder was dead so I asked if they had batteries. they did not, bummer, but they went above and beyond to find me one to use for the day. someone took a battery out of their personal range finder and let me put it in mine for the day which was very nice. also, they kept an eye on rate of play which was very appreciated because it was a Sunday, the place was packed but played at a good pace. beautiful facility, good place to have a post round beverage or more. I am playing again. later I September and looking forward to playing there again. read more

Played for the first time two weeks ago. Booked on line with Golf Now. Twenty six dollars was the twilight rate. I would say that it's worth twice that. Good beer specials in the club house. Two dollar Miller LITE and Bud. One dollar Old Style and Hamms! read more

I am not a golfer but I sortof aspire to be. Sortof. I took lessons here last year and I am trying again this year only with Lessons for Women which I like even better. The instructors are super laid back, friendly and encouraging. They are flexible and non judgmental. They even gave us water today. As great as the lesson and course are, I still suck at golf. Worst experience I have ever had with a golf course. Called a couple of days in advance in order to check pricing. Was quoted a discounted rate $35 because the greens was aerated. Got to the golf course and they already had charged my group the full price. After further discussion we came to an agreement of $55 (too late to go anywhere else). They messed up the refund process and charged my dad's card a extra $248. It took my dad 4 days to finally get a refund, after being told several times the manager was not there. Instead of them apologizing and or offering a free round for the inconvenience they basically took a screw you attitude. Very unprofessional will never golf here again. read more

The Sanctuary Golf Course is a delightful 18 hole course in New Lenox. The course has plenty of challenges, especially on the back nine. We stayed for dinner and drinks by ordering from the bar menu. We were served outside under the pavilion. There is a nice menu from bratwurst to wraps, etc. (Excellent onion rings.) Ben McAdams is the young golf pro. Ben was an excellent source and coordinator for our group. He had an answer for any question we had and even brought us our dinner! I assume he is an indispensable part of the Sanctuary team. For a beginning golfer, this course is definitely a challenge. Even the more experienced golfers I have played with here have found it tough. The rating and slope seem a little low to me. The conditions here are excellent. In fact, I was so impressed by them that I couldn't believe that this is a park district course. It doesn't have that feel that one associates with many of the other PD courses in the area. This course challenges you to control every shot, because if you miss the tight fairways, you're going to be searching through the tall grass forever only to find someone else's ball where you thought yours was. In fact, if you've played here this season, you probably found one of mine: I want it back :P Why do I give this course such a high rating? I love it. I have a moderate handicap, and I find the challenges here enough to keep me coming back. Also, the $27 Wednesday special is great. A tough 18 including cart for under 30 on such a well-manicured course is a treat. A cautionary note about this, though: book your tee time in advance and as early in the day as you can manage. The later the time, the slower your round will be here, especially on Wednesdays. The starters and rangers do a good job of keeping the pace up, but there's only so much they can do. People should consider playing up a tee, but I will save that rant for somewhere and someone else. read more

One of the best golf courses in South burbs of Chicago. Several holes resemble a links course mixed with some traditional tree-lined holes. Difficult to score in windy conditions. Plenty of challenges with lateral water on 3 or 4 holes, fescue throughout the course and fairway bunkers on most holes. Beautiful course to spend a few hours with your buddies. read more

Great course! It is a well maintained course with natural grass bordering almost every hole, which, as it matures through the season, can make off- line shots very penalizing to deal with, when trying to recover. Its 4 tee boxes provide playability to players of all skill levels. Great fun to play! The staff is always great to chat with and are attentive to making every round a good time. It has an excellent practice range and they have league opportunities available, not to mention there great youth program. read more

This is a great public golf course the greens are fast usually in good shape and the prices are reasonable

5 1/2 hour round on a Sunday. No rangers. Problem easily fixed if they have rangers and tell so many people not to play from the tips with 10+ handicaps. Never seen a course where that's allowed, and it is allowed there. read more

Golfed on a Saturday morning (5.24.14) with friends; staff insisted on threesomes, even when course was backed up with three's and two's waiting as much as 10-15 minutes for tee; when a three and two paired up to relieve pressure of course (us), they went nuclear, even when it was explained the reason was to speed up play, and eliminate back ups of threes and twos; more concerned about "the rules" than speed of play, spacing, and enjoyment; for all the hype, I'm sorry; we play all top recommended courses in Chicago area, and this was vastly overrated compared to other tracks; another municipal course with the back/forth layout; best part was nearby Lloyds Tap House after we happily departed this barely average course. read more

The starters were great, the "pro-Lou" was rude and disrespectful. I had a bad experience and addressed it with course management. At first I was impressed by the immediate response from Bob Schulz and seemed to want to look into the concern. Then I did not get a response from him for 2 days and reached out again. He basically wrote back and informed me due to a negative review (which had nothing to do with me), he had no interest in following through with me. It demonstrates he cared more about a reputation than doing the right thing and following up with a customer that was treated poorly by his staff....now it's a former customer. read more

I played the sanctuary in early November and found the golf course to be in excellent condition considering how late in the year it was. The staff was helpful and went out of their way to make my day as pleasant as possible. When I finished the round the head pro asked me did I enjoyed myself today.. He went on to tell me all the events that are held at the golf. Informed me of the excellent Junior League they have during the summer for my granddaughter overall it was a great experience and I plan I'm playing there. Course is mediocre. It is built on a marshland so whenever there's rain it's basically unplayable for a week. The staff thinks its gods gift to golf and are all arrogant and rude. Ill never spend another dollar at this place. read more
