I'm not really a NY beach person, per se. I love visiting beaches when on holiday because they are…read moreusually cleaner. However, Lido Beach was a nice surprise. Non-resident cars must pay $50 for parking and non-residents on foot pay $25. Residents pay $10. I believe the upped the non-resident fee significantly which is kind of crazy. I would suggest investing in one of those beach trolleys with the large wheels. It makes life so much easier. Unfortunately, I had one with thin wheels so it was a lot to drag that thing in the sand. We picked a spot not too far from the entrance but it was hell getting there with my cart. I have since returned it for a larger-wheeled cart. The water was very rough. I likely wouldn't return here with my toddler in tow but I wouldn't mind an adult's beach day outing here. The beach is very clean and there is ample space where you don't feel on top of other beach goers. The kids had a great time playing in the sand, making sand catles and running around. The seagulls are very aggressive. They were attacking people's unattended food. One guy had to chase away a pack of seagulls that descended upon some unsuspecting person's goodies. They're brazen and will go through your stuff while you're enjoying the water. After spending time on the beach, we went to the showers to rinse off. The shower water is really cold so be prepared for that. It was nice to see that the bathrooms were still clean after a full day out on the sand. Usually, these places look worse for wear after so many people have been using the facilities all day. I'm just happy that this outing made my daughter enjoy the beach and even the sand. She used to not want to walk in the sand. We had to carry her and place her on her chair or a mat but this day, she stopped being particular about her sensory issues with the sand and gave in, enjoying everything else she could do with it. It was great to see her evolution.

I love how clean and spacious the bathrooms are too, which is just a stark contrast to Field 6 facilities. Today I spent 2 hours walking the beach, observing birds and collecting some incredible sea shells. It really felt like my own little slice of heaven for nearly the entire time. If you're looking for a beach that is off the beaten path, West End Beach 2 is the spot you're looking for. Elite tip: Free parking after 6pm most days

Bo resident, No fish, No claiming, if you bring your children to there for beach playing. you won't know when you will receive a summon. those cops will come to you. first thing to ask; what you got, what you got. where is your basket. then they will write you a summon. special to Asian and Spanish. never go there again in life. be carefully when you see cops are there. they are not protect you. they are looking for a summon for them. not fare for the visitors. and no detail notice to visitors. all those cops summon people .

This beach is 12 minutes from our front door, so you can't beat if for convenience. Every year, we…read morego to park headquarters and buy a summer parking pass for fifty dollars (senior rate). At peak times and peak season, parking can be five or six rows back, but we've never had any real trouble parking. The lifeguards here are amiable and efficient. There are good restrooms and a snack bar. The beach is magnificent, with great opportunities to see bird life such as American Oyster Catchers and cormorants. Only problem some years is the seaweed, which can turn some parts of the beach into a soup. On the other hand, once you are on the beach, you can walk as far as you wish towards Long Beach, and set up your beach chairs anywhere. The Parks Dept. continues to improve this every year. This season they have added a large ramp from the restroom area to the beach, covering about half the distance to the water. Regular admission is ten dollars, so we make sure to go more than five times to get more than our money's worth.

As I sit in the sand writing this, I wonder why/how I ended up the Yelp Duke of Field 2 in Jones…read moreBeach. I mean, if I had like 24 check ins then I'd say "well duh," but I only have 3. What I also ponder is how I'm the first to review this spot. C'mon people, Field 2 is fine! Okay, I know it's not Field 4 at the hoppin' heart of JB. Yeah, it's not Field 6 either with its super close parking to the beach and non-radio signage (for those quieter beach days). But Field 2 still has it goin' on. They have their own little building with some food and drink (and beach shop). Their parking is just like Field 6, pulling right up to the cusp of the sand (and not having to walk half a mile from the lot like at 4). Oh and that umbrella line even helps to get you a little closer to the water (if you don't have one) without any obstructions. There's a lot to like here. Maybe the biggest downer would be the walk. It's wonderful Jones Beach has those mats down in the sand to make the stroll to the beach easier, but Field 2 feels like a trek, an expedition, a fourth installment of The Lord Of The Rings as Frodo journeyed through Middle Earth. Okay, maybe not that bad, and from start to finish, still shorter than Field 4's total steps, but it's easy to understand why some people just park themselves way back in the sand. If you're not in good walking condition, consider getting up early and going to 6. Besides this, and perhaps the bathrooms that leave something to be desired, Field 2 is on par with the rest of Jones Beach. Overall, like I just said, Field 2 is a quality beach spot for your summer needs. It's got quite a walk to the shoreline, but once there, you get everything you want from any other beach on Long Island. Go at an off time and you might even feel like you're on some (mostly) private beach getaway. Give it a shot before the warm weather ends. And hey, you might even see Field 2's Yelp Duke there.

Beautiful beach, LOTS of space, MUCH less built up than its neighbor to the west (Long Beach) and added bonus the awesome, unique, "space age" picnic pods!! On a beautiful Saturday evening, we had the beach almost to ourselves at about 6/7pm. Walked a few shoreline miles in each direction and wondered how I was EVER going to return to "landlocked" Ohioooooo a few days later!! Questionable "exclusivity" aside (I think the OCEAN belongs to EVERYONE) this is a beautiful place!! ENJOY!!

Decided to join friends with family as a last minute gathering and we had a fabulous time!! The water was freezing and towards the end bugs came out of nowhere but the visit and area was lovely! Great place to visit with friends and very family oriented as well.
