When we arrived we were greeted by a hilarious bald dude (he said to add the bald part) so the service was amazing! They also have a little hot coco bar that I used and it was also great. I moved to Wisconsin from Philadelphia years ago and haven't seen pork roll since I left. Staff were personable and attentive, very welcoming and helpful when looking through the menu. Lots of options and items were customizable to your preferences. Great food, great service, and nice atmosphere. Came in during a lunch stop on a road trip about a month ago (forgot to leave a review then) and was not disappointed. I had the cheese steak and some cheese curds, and both were fantastic and huge. The owner served us and made nice conversation, and the place had a real homey and hole-in-the wall type feeling. If I lived in Sparta, I would be eating at the Sandwich Shop at least twice a week. Unfortunately, I live in Central Illinois. However, I do make it a point to eat at the Sandwich Shop 2 or 3 times a year (at least) when I am up visiting family and friends in Sparta. I make eating at the Sandwich Shop one of my priorities every time I'm in town. I would suggest trying their sandwiches, if and when you pay them a visit. read more

Just finished a big bike ride on the Sparta Trail and found this little piece of NY/Philly/Chicago/NJ heaven for our delicious lunch. We had the Windy City Smash Burger and the not-corned-beef-only-pastrami Rueben on an actual NY bagel. Every single bite (even the last few after we were far too full) was perfection! I came here because I wanted a classic American style sandwich, on a roll, wrapped in butcher paper, and it did not disappoint. Staff and owners were super friendly, sandwich was delicious, and I shared it with my dog on the outside patio. Dog pictured side by side for size reference.
