1-star rating due to poor workmanship and not performing the full scope of work. We hired The Screen Guys in March 2019 to install solar screens onto approximately 30 windows of our home. We were shown how the screens would be installed. We were ensured by Chris that due to his many years of experience that there would be no issues. The screen would be secured on each window with 4 or 6 tabs that would be screwed in. We were informed that the screw holes would be filled and that there would be no chance of water or anything else infiltrating. Unfortunately, this past April, we discovered that we had water intrusion from the exterior into the interior during the heavy rains. We had water and mold mitigation performed and as part of that process, some drywall and insulation were removed around a window. *We could see that the solar screen screws were screwed directly into the window frames and that no caulking or other water prevention material was used!* We hired a contractor to repair the water damage and to inspect all of the solar screens where they were screwed in. The contractor informed us that only 1 window of the 30 had screws put in with caulking! I advise not using The Screen Guys for solar screens as they will not properly install them no matter how much they may say that they will do so. Update: Chris's response admits that he did not caulk the screws as he said he would. That is necessary since his installation method drills screws directly into to window frame, which subjects them to water intrusion. I had to hire someone else to complete his work. He offered to reimburse me if I showed him the invoice from the other contractor, which I did. In exchange for reimbursement, I offered to edit my review to include his efforts to correct his failure. Chris is irate that I will not remove the review, which is likely why I have not received the reimbursement that he promised to provide. The bottom line is that he failed to complete his work and won't take ownership of that. read more

They worked around my schedule changes beautifully and did a great, quick, reasonably-priced job when we finally managed to get it together. With as easy as it was, I'm now eyeing other suspect screens for replacement. Would -- and will -- strongly recommend to others. read more

You can't get any better than the Screen Guys. I have huge weird windows that get full sun in the afternoon, causing my house to be very hot. They made custom screens and mounted them expertly and now I have at least a 30 degree temperature difference than before. They are sturdy, will last for years, and they are very easy to see out of, just like a regular window screen. These are high quality durable products at a fair price. I first saw this product at a neighbors house and became very interested. Chris came out and gave me an estimate and explained everything in detail. I went ahead and the finished product is wonderful! It really does block the heat and a lot of the glare. I can see the sun but it's not blinding. As a huge bonus I absolutely love the way they look. Chris did an amazing job adding new screen doors to our home! The best part of his service was repairing our sliding glass door. We were prepared to spend thousands of dollars to replace the door because it was to difficult to open and close. Chris indicated he could repair it by replacing the rollers. The door now works like it was brand new, savings us thousands. The front door (double doors) screen doors look great, there not what grandma used to have. These are current good looking doors. With another round of hot weather coming I was anxious to get sunscreens on a side of my house that was recently exposed when my neighbor had a big tree removed. Chris was very responsive in returning my call, coming out to measure and giving me a bid and finally doing the install. My original call was Thursday and the job was finished Tuesday morning. He even came by on a Sunday to measure and bid the job when another company was weeks out for the initial appointment. On top of this he even reinstalled another screen for me. Chris is great to work with! We had everything done within just a couple days and he worked around our schedules to accommodate coming to measure and then coming back to install. The screen door he installed is a much higher quality then the original on our other door, and the pet screen is great at adding some privacy without totally obscuring the view. He tested that it fit well and moved smoothly in the track and that the locking mechanism functioned appropriately, I really appreciated his attention to detail. Chris gave me a rough estimate over the phone, since he didn't want to "drive all the way up there" only for me to possibly not accept his quote. Not sure what "free estimate" means in his book. The Screen Guys did a fantastic job on three of our rental properties. We needed screens for windows and sliding doors and they hit it out of the park with their response time and workmanship. I couldn't be happier with Chris at The Screen Guys. He came to my house to give me a quote on a doggie door for my screen. He wouldn't sell me the most expensive one, said it wasn't needed- that the middle priced one was perfect, and he would give me a life time warranty on the door. To help me keep the cost down he even used my old screen door frame. He made the door in his mobile truck, right outside my house. I didn't have to go anywhere and it was less expensive than the self- install versions I found online. The door works perfectly and my dog has successfully learned how to use it!! I had a great experience with Chris from The Screen Guys. I called Chris on a Monday morning asking him to replace a bedroom screen with a hole in it (thanks punks who egged our house) and a sliding screen door. Chris said he would put together his schedule on Tuesday morning and call me with his availability. True to his word, he contacted me on Tuesday late morning and showed up shortly afterward. Several of our screens were worn out and Chris pointed those out, also telling me which screens would be fine for now and did not need immediate replacement. We ended up having him replace seven screens and a sliding screen door. Chris did all the work immediately and on-site. He replaced the broken locking mechanism on our screen door without us even asking and did not charge us extra for this. Both my girls bedrooms are West facing and the rooms were at least 15 degrees hotter than the hallway or other upstairs bedrooms. When you would walk in, it felt like stepping in to a sauna, I am not kidding. We would run the a/c from 9am just to keep the rooms semi-cool for the 5pm sun blast. And even still by 9pm, when the entire house was cool and a/c didn't need to run, those two rooms were 90+degrees. I used standing fans to try to bring in cool air from the hallway, it was horrible. For years we kept bringing a/c companies to check the unit. It finally dawned on me that it's the sun hitting the windows. So I looked up solar sun screens and found Chris. He gave me a quote and took my order on Friday mid-morning and said he'd be back within a week to install. The next week we would be facing 105 degree temps all week long, it would be brutal, and you could not sleep in those rooms even with the a/c running all day. Chris surprised me and showed up on Monday morning ready to install!! The screens didn't look like much, I could see perfectly right out of them and I was skeptical they would keep the sun's heat out. I was in for a huge surprise! Both girls rooms were the coolest I'd ever experienced by 6pm on a 105 degree day. They were actually the same temp as the rest of the upstairs!!!! How did that happen!?!! It was unbelievable that this huge problem was solved with such a simple solution. Thank you Chris, These sun screens are absolutely amazing!!!! A few added benefits: 1) they protect children from falling out out windows (my 3 yr old would always lean up against the bug screen, so I kept her upstairs window closed) 2) no one can see into the house, tints your windows 3) and according to Chris, which I totally believe now, it'll keep heat in the rooms in winter months (those same 2 rooms are also the coldest in the winter) P.S. We purchased this house 2 years ago and have been struggling with the screen door from day one. We had another company out who replaced the rollers and "adjusted" it. Still did not work (total waste of money). In walks "The Screen Guys". Within about 30 minutes they came in a measured and went out to their truck and made a new screen door for us. I contacted Chris to do rescreening of two of our window screens and a slider door. I intended to rescreen the windows, which get FULL sun about 14hrs a day in the summer, with solar screens. When Chris came to our home he explained that simply rescreening the current frames would not provide a lot of relief. He explained how making a new frame to cover the entirety of the window would be most efficient. He gave a bid for both options and while encouraged the building of new screens, was not overly assertive or pressuring in that direction. We ultimately chose to follow his advice. He completed and installed the screens earlier than expected and we are happy with the results! Would use again!! read more

Turns out Chris' shop is right by my house. He was able to stop by and make make a new patio sliding door to replace the existing one added by a previous owner. Very happy with the quality of the door and the attention to detail when installing. They use metal frame components and rollers, which makes all the difference in terms of operation and durability. My previous screen door was absolute junk, had plastic rollers, and was constantly falling out of place. The new door is works like a charm and looks great! I had written a bad review on this business but I must say that the owner had honestly apologized for what had happen the day he did not show up. It was very refreshing for a business owner to take so much interest in making a mistake. Come to find out it was personal which made me feel terrible. Chris even offered an discount which I do not expect at all. At the time I was upset but I thought with reason.
