    Shrimp and scallop cakes
    Emily B.

I can't believe we've never been here! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The store has a great selection of different types of seafood, fish, and more. We just stopped in to check it out so we didn't buy too much, but we will absolutely be back. I'd like to try one of their hot fish meals. We got the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp and scallop cakes. My husband said that it was some of the best shrimp he has ever had, and he eats a lot of shrimp! The shrimp and scallop cakes were very flavorful and not too heavy on the breading. They were very easy to reheat in the oven. Looking forward to ordering some carryout meals soon!

I was there to get some fresh fish. While there, decided to takeout dinner. Fish sampler was a good way to try out many types of fish. Cod was my favorite followed by perch. Crab cake and onion rings were ok. Fresh fish was in general a lot more expensive than grocery store prices.

Great place for fresh seafood or a hot carry out to go. You can call ahead for pick up or order in person at the counter. They have a nice array of fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, etc. it's quite pricey. They also have a freezer full of frozen choice and a deli case with crab dip, salmon spread, egg rolls, crab cakes, smoked fish and more. A variety of fish and seafood are available for carry out. They are all deep fried and can be ordered with fries and a side of slaw. There is a daily catch of the day which consists of 4 different types of fish, fries and slaw. They also have a daily soup choice. My favorite meal is a cup of clam chowder and an order of clam strips with fries. They always have big meaty clams and the portion is generous. It's served with cocktail sauce. I always ask for tartar sauce for the fries which comes at a small charge. My husband usually orders the daily combo or perch. He said both are very good. To be fair, I originally gave them 4 stars but pulled one back as they open at 11:00am and never have their soup ready and available at that time. Very frustrating for customers.

For a simple fish market that sells and serves fish, it's not bad. I had the Cod Basket...three pieces of fried cod over fries. The breading is crispy, although a little saltier than I prefer. Fish itself was overwhelmed by the salty breading but overall for the price of 7.99 plus tax, it's better than what I've had at this price point. Agree with others, friendly service indeed. North Sea Fish in London is still the best in my memory... (see my other review). I'll check it out again in a couple months.

Quality fresh and frozen seafood is what The Seafood Center is all about. Fresh cocktail shrimp, sea scallops, and halibut were excellent. The salmon also looked fantastic. They carry plenty of different spices and sauces to complete your meal. This falls under " you get what you pay for" so the prices are at market for the quality you get. If you try them, I think you'll notice the difference!

5 reasons I'll be back. 1. Great attitude and service. Guy behind the counter was super nice. 2. Seafood is a bit pricey but it's good. 3. Ordered fish & chips (fries) and they were good. Portion was small but not bad. 4. Ordered Chowder which was good & crab cake. Crab cake was really good but again a bit pricey for the size. 5. Over all, good experience.

Jumbo shrimp single meal order. 5 of these lovelies with fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce $6.99

We arrived about 15 minutes early for our 7:45pm reservation on a Saturday and sat at the bar for a drink. I opted for a morning glow and an espresso martini. Both were decent, I would probably explore another option next time. Seating took a little longer than we thought, seated around 8pm. I'll be honest, at first our sever seemed like a jerk, but quickly turned it around. We started with the cheesecurds, we ate every single one of them. The salads that come with dinner were the perfect size and the bread was a nice touch. We went with a couple of different steaks and they were some of the best cuts we have ever had. As avid 801 Chop in Minneapolis this place blew them out of the water. Second best thing were the mashed potatoes- holy crap, so good! The hash browns were okay but I would have been sad if that was my only option. We were stuffed but the flourless chocolate cake was calling our names. I'm SO glad we pushed through and ordered it, it was a 12/10! Order this, even if you're full and thank me later! Check this place out, you wont be sorry!

I had the spicy margarita which was so good. They had a lot of dessert options but we didn't order any. The place was dimly lit so it was a very romantic date night. The reason for my 4/5 stars is that a margarita in a small bar glass should not be $15. Our total bill for 2 lobster bisques, 1 6 oz filet, 1 16 oz ribeye, a beer, and a margarita was $172. I feel like we ordered should not have been that expensive, but I guess it because of the dells.

The drinks are top-notch. Their cocktail menu is creative and well-executed think perfectly balanced classics and inventive options that pair beautifully with seafood. The wine and beer selection is solid too, with plenty of crisp whites that complement the menu. But the real stars are the oysters and crab legs. The oysters are incredibly fresh (they boast daily shipments), briny, and perfectly shucked some of the best I've had anywhere. We ordered a mix from the raw bar and couldn't stop. The crab legs? Outstanding huge, sweet, and steamed to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning so the natural flavor shines through. Paired with their drawn butter, it was pure indulgence. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, the portions generous, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. On our ongoing quest to visit all the supper clubs in Wisconsin (with the list hovering around 260,…read moreno easy feat), we recently stopped by The Cove Supper Club while staying at a cabin in Briggsville. The Cove serves up the usual supper club fare with, in true supper club fashion, the option to stop at the bar prior to being seated at your table. We decided to just go ahead and order drinks at our table vs the bar and were able to be seated immediately on a Saturday evening (it was a bit earlier in the evening, but still--nice!). For an appetizer, we ordered the bruschetta, which was solid. It was served with a sprinkle of parmesan and a drizzle of balsamic. For my cocktail, I ordered their bourbon old fashioned. It was also good. My dining companion ordered a Bulleit bourbon Manhattan, requesting it served up with cherries. It ended up coming served with olives, which is an oddity we've only come across in Wisconsin. He decided to give it a whirl (rather than sending back) and I had a sip as well. We're both decidedly not fans. So...lesson learned on that one! For dinner, I opted for the broiled shrimp and brussels sprouts. The shrimp were plump and broiled to perfection and came with lemon and cocktail sauce. Delish! The brussels sprouts were steamed, which isn't my favorite method for cooking sprouts (would have much prefered oven roasted or sauteed). That said, they tasted fresh. My dining companion ordered their Wisconsin Jambalaya, which was an interesting mix of bratwurst, chicken, shrimp, and rice covered in a spicy wisconsin cheese sauce. I had a taste and thought it was great! Meals come with soup or salad and a dinner roll as well (which was soft and warm!). Our server was friendly and efficient with our meal nicely spaced. Of course we finished the evening with sharing a Grasshopper dessert cocktail, which was simply presented but delicious. Get to it!

It was the first weekend they had their patio open to dining, so we naturally chose a spot outside -- in the shade, it was a bit much in the unabated sun. I thought we'd have a river view, but it was hidden behind some trees and a few cabins. Oh well. Still a nice outdoor spot away from the city. We were warned that there was a party of like 20 people coming in shortly to the patio, but we did not notice and interruption in our service as the gang flowed in. I will never love the ability to smoke cigarettes on an outdoor patio, so maybe I should have sat inside, but still worth being outside despite the occasional irritation. To each their own. Our server was great, and was very patient with our slow proces of ordering drinks, appetizers, and the meal in relatively spaced out time periods. The Old Fashioneds were great, without too much of the muddle and soda and more emphasis on the booze -- still a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, though! I enjoyed the cheese curds and was very intrigued by their potato and cheddar crusted cod. I usually get the fried cod during a Friday Fish Fry, but this sounded somehow elevated. Alas, I didn't find it to provide any extra or new flavors, and there was nothing crispy about it. The breading was more like a mooshy exterior that didn't do a ton for the fish. The fish was cooked nicely, but the very high price was very much not warranted. I can get crispier and lower priced cod closer to home, so just can't justify the trip for the fish fry. But then there was dessert. I'm always looking to recreate a favorite (late) childhood dessert that involved brandy infused ice cream. I always ask at a Friday Fish Fry if they can make a Brandy Alexander that's thick enough you need a spoon. They claimed this to be the case, and they did not disappoint. This was a delicious Brandy Alexander and definitely worth a trip back. So, while I wasn't crazy about my overpriced, non-crispy fish fry, I still enjoyed myself and enjoyed my food... I'm glad we came and tried it out, and if you're looking for a nice supper club spot, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We found our way to Sardine after their recent nod in the NY Times, so we made a reservation for a Thursday evening and off we went! The location is stellar, not only is the space expertly curated to give a slightly elevated vibe, but it also provides a fish house-y feeling as the colors, decor, lighting and wood throughout lend themselves to a spot known for seafood. In addition to the interior, they are located right on the lakefront, which creates calming and gorgeous views from inside or outside! Before diving into the food, we landed on a few cocktails to start the night off with. The cocktail menu was well laid out with house and classic cocktails along with a section solely dedicated to tableside served Absinthe! We went with a classic and house cocktail respectively. I seemed to enjoy my Pimms Cup a bit more than my buddy enjoyed his Old Fashioned, but he made a pivot to a beer for his second drink, so all was saved! Food wise, as noted, they are seafood forward, but have a few other offerings for those land dwellers! The menu is not expansive, but it is robust in the areas of offerings from apps to oysters, salads to sides and of course entrees. For our starter, we went with the warm goat cheese, because I am currently obsessed with warm fancy cheese dip style dishes, no shame! The cheese came with grilled bread, however the bread was a bit hard and made enjoying the creamy texture and feel of the goat cheese complicated. I would have much preferred a softer variety of bread or toast, or a less grilled portion. For dinner once of us went seafood, the other steak. The swordfish was light, well cooked and delightful. The steak frites were a bit heavier with less components, but no less tasty! The mustard sauce served on the side was perfection and a perfect accompaniment. For a fairly plain dish, the simple preparation was good, and the fries were crisp and well seasoned. It was not the best steak frites I have ever had, but it was a steak dish from a seafood spot, so I respect it and still enjoyed it quite a bit! Service was stellar from entry to exit. Getting to the host(ess) stand can be a bit confusing as it is located in the middle of the restaurant, but once there, they take care of you! Our server was kind, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with. Overall, Sardine was a great evening with a solid meal, good drinks, great service and a uniquely Madison vibe!
