This is a nice gym, with nice people, in a nice old building. Equipment is well maintained, not crowded and I hear there are good instructors. My needs are simple. Yes, there are gyms with better TV and audio set ups, but these are fine for most folks. I'm writing this review because I really don't like it when people give bad reviews because of their own lack of attention, unreasonable standards or billing issues. Yes, the decor is in great need of upgrading but I've had nothing less than positive experiences here. The front desk staff always says hello to me and several of them remember me and my daughter who goes with me a few times a week to child care. $3 for an hour of care so I can get in a class or some treadmill time is downright awesome. I love that the trainers aren't personally paid by Pro-Robics so you don't get any hard sell or pressure to buy more classes or even purchase supplements. I've observed the different trainers and have yet to overhear one who I just wouldn't work with. That said, I've only worked out with one of the trainers there but if I ever had to switch, I'd have plenty of options. The Pilates instructor is hard core so you get a terrific workout. She pays attention to people's form so you don't have to worry about getting injured or overextending yourself. She really pushes you but never is overbearing. They have been updating slowly but surely- expanding a place to stretch, bringing in new lockers, some new wallpaper but if you want completely new equipment and decor, Pro-Robics won't please you. If you value being treated decently as an individual and not getting injured, this is the place. read more

The best part about this gym are the classes. Kari Anderson is one of the finest instuctors in the Seattle area and the popularity of this gym has a lot to do with her expertise. She also has several other great instructors who have been with Pro-Robics for years. That says a lot about a gym to know there's going to be consistency in the schedule and new instructors aren't coming and going all the time. The gym itself is sorely in need of an update. The locker room is adequate, but not very nice. I don't feel like I am risking my health by showering there anyway (like *cough* 24 hour.) Also be sure to check out the Gravity Training classes. The sessions are 30 minutes for about $15, small group (4 students) and will make you sore all over! read more

So I've heard lots of good and lots of not so good things about the Seattle gym. I've been a patron of the Queen Anne Seattle Gym for about 3 years now and I've always had a good experience with them. The gym is affordable, the staff is friendly enough with me, and I seldom have any true issues. It has everything I could ask for in a gym, and I personally really enjoy my gym. My husband still goes to the gym very consistently, but he thinks it is a tad dirty. He tells me all the time the staff shouldn't just be sitting around chilling out, but they should constantly be cleaning the machines, cleaning the window sills, cleaning the floors, essentially, he finds something dirty everywhere he goes in the building. My neighbor went to this gym for like a month, deciding to instead opt for Crossfit because he, too, thought the gym was dirty. It's never bothered me. I've never thought the gym was excessively dirty. I've always had good experiences and will continue my membership with TSG. read more

Like others have said, this place is affordable, has most everything you need, and it's not a scene, which is really nice. however, 1) the cardio room (which used to be the main dining room of Pasta Bella) gets incredibly warm and feels suffocating, even on a cool day 2) navigating this place is like a fun house without the fun 3) the locker room is like a sauna... again, temperature problems but again, that's the tradeoff for the location and price. read more

I do not have an excuse not to come here. I live right across from the gym and let's face it, in order to be a dedicated gym patron, I need it to be as easy as possible. I really like this gym for a few reasons: There is not loud blasting techno music or meat heads. I never feel like it is a meat market even though there are many attractive folks here. The staff are really great as well - when I had a free trial membership, none of them tried to sell me on things. When I come in to work out, they do greet me, but it never feels fake or like they need something from me. It's very relaxed here and I really appreciate how non-gimmicky it is here. The cardio equipment is always clean and working and no matter what time of day, can always find equipment to use. Great building too. read more

The Laurelhurst (now closed) branch of this gym had been my local gym, which was great. The facility and equipment were a little sketchy, but the location was amazing. I was really very sad when they decided to close up earlier this year. However, my sadness has turned to anger and frustration as I've attempted to get a refund of my annual membership. They'd made it clear during the closure that those who didn't (or couldn't) transfer to the Queen Anne branch would get a pro-rated refund if they applied for one, so I did using their refund process. As several others have mentioned, actually *getting* that refund has been an exercise in futility. Many ignored e-mails, with lots of auto-responses about "these difficult and confusing times" and "please wait 48-hours for a response." Well, it's been ~4 months now of this, so I absolutely agree on the "difficult and confusing" part. My advice for someone considering joining this gym: think twice (or even three or four times) about whether or not the convenience of this place is worth running the gauntlet to get your money back if you ever decide to leave. So since I'm a member I've decided to try out a bunch of the classes offered at Prorobic in Queen Anne. It's a clean place to lift weights but has very old, old, old, cardio equipment. The class du jour was the Zumba class by Nathaye. I've been to the one on Saturday but the Tuesday class has a lot more buzz. Now I work out a lot. And I can say that 30 minutes of Zumba is plenty. It's a great workout and it's fun. And this class is worth attending. Tomorrow is Pilates Mat class. read more

I must echo the review from May regarding the failure to take Covid seriously. Most members wear a mask, but a handful of regulars wear it on their chin or below their nose. There is usually only one staff person on-duty at a time, at the front desk. They will ask someone to wear a mask properly if you request, but that is it. So the person pulls up their mask for 5 minutes and then drops it down again. Management does nothing, and you feel frustrated and like a bad person for asking that the rules be followed. read more

After trying out various gyms in the area (Denali, Olympic Athletic Club, Ballard Health Club, Anytime Fitness), I finally found the gym for me! Seattle Gym may not have all the luxury amenities that some of the other gyms have, but I'm also not paying a ton each month either. I go mainly for the spin classes, pilates and free weights. Sometimes I'll use the treadmill or elliptical trainer. The gym provides more than enough options for my workout. Also, the staff are amazing! The front desk staff are always super helpful, friendly and smiling. The instructors are great, too. I especially love Jocelyn and Mary's spin class. I go in the morning, so I never have an issue with parking which is a huge plus. I can't believe it took me four years to try out this place. I love it! read more

So, I am downgrading my review a star. I have started to notice extra fees that are really frustrating. First, not all the classes are included in your monthly membership, unless you have the expensive level. The PTX classes are $15/class for example. They also charge a $19/yr "equipment maintenance" fee!?! Isn't that what your monthly membership pays for? And why charge it separate? Why not just have $1.60 added to the monthly fee? I was also charged for something else but am working with billing to resolve it. Hopefully that goes well... So far, the staff is nice still so I don't see why it wouldn't. read more

I discovered the Seattle Gym via ClassPass. As far as the workout equipment goes, it's a pretty standard set up, but I'm easily content with their cardio machines and free weights. What really attracted me to the Seattle gym are their group classes - great variety and excellent teachers. I just signed up for a month to month membership, and it looks like the staff took notes from some of the reviews below - I was informed of all the charges (including the $25 annual maintenance fee) and the 30 day cancellation policy (which my last gym had as well) up front. read more

This is a no frills gym that has knowledgeable trainers. While I'm not in amazing shape, YET, I don't feel out of place as there are not a bunch of meatheads flexing in the mirror. This is a great gym! I love the old building that is is housed in! I am mostly into cardio and they have fabulous room up stairs that has tons of windows that open and a porch to cool down on! I don't want to tell too many people about it however because I've been loving having the place practically to my self during the day:) ! They also have loads of clean towels and cleaning product around so you can wipe down the machines, insuring the safety and cleanliness! Staff is super nice and welcoming! I haven't tried the classes yet, but there is a substantial variety and offerings that I can't wait to try and the class room is HUGE!! read more

This review is based on a one week free trial I had at The Seattle Gym in Queen Anne. I would give it 3.5 stars if i could - not quite 4. Pros: -Close to where I live -Huuuuuuge very nice women's locker room -The main fitness class room is also huge with no pillars in middle and surrounded by mirrors on 3 sides -Ultra friendly, non-pushy staff. On my first visit, the front desk person gladly gave me a tour without pushing me to sign up for a membership, personal training etc. I very much appreciated this. -Awesome old building that stays pretty comfortable on hot days -Affordable membership Cons: -A lot of the equipment is older and not in the best shape (this is probably the main thing keeping me from signing up) -Not enough yoga classes in the evenings/weekends. I also found the "vinyasa" yoga class I tried to be very easy but was hoping for a challenge. -No LifeFitness elliptical machines - I personally can't stand the unnatural motion of PreCor elliptical machines which bothers my joints. I was really hoping this would be my new gym due to the location, friendliness of staff and other great pluses. However for me the cons outweigh the pros so I will continue to search Queen Anne for something that may be more suitable for my needs. I might still sign up here though! read more

I was a member here for about 5 months until I had to move out of Seattle to the East Side for work, but I would definitely would have stayed if I could. I lived in lower queen anne after graduating from the University of Washington, and checked out quite a few other gyms in Queen Anne, Ballard, and Fremont before joining, and The Seattle Gym was the best value. Before joining here I did trials at: LA Fitness, Denali Fitness, Fremont Health Club, Ballard Health Club, Olympic Health Club, and Anytime Fitness (props to them, a close 2nd). Throughout college I worked out at the UW gym (IMA) which is top notch, so with so many different gyms around I wanted to shop around and find the best one. I'm not very picky as far as amenities or classes at a gym, I mainly want free weights to lift, and a variety of cardio machines. Unlike some of the gyms I went to with lines for some exercises, disorganized free weights, poor variety, and dirty weight and locker rooms, The Seattle Gym was great in all areas. On top of that the staff are very friendly and easy to work with. The sales reps are knowledgeable and just let the high quality facility and great service speak for itself- you won't feel like you're being sold to. I'd recommend this gym to anyone looking for a great value, lots of free weights, and a well-kept weight room. -Greg read more

Frustrated by closure and failure to stop charging. These guys were my local gym until they closed my branch and they've made it very difficult to stop payment. Multiple calls resulting in "go to the website to request cancellation" and "we don't know if we're still charging you". I wish there were a google or netflix of the gym world (an honest operator who charges only what they should). These guys are nice, but become unhelpful when it comes to cancelling. read more

As a previous review has very clearly described, this gym will gouge you for every penny when you need to move unexpectedly. They will make sure that when you cancel your membership with them, they take another month's worth of pay from you (even though you now live nowhere near the gym!) The only reason that they would do this is to make sure that they take all of the money that they can from you. Very, very greedy and makes me feel obligated to warn others to not sign up for this gym. So very disappointed in them. read more

Decent enough place, but just try to cancel your membership and you'll realize they make their real money from members who don't come in anymore but are still paying the monthly fee. You're required to either come in and fill out a form in their office, or mail them a certified letter. You cannot cancel by phone, email, or web and indeed when I emailed them on two occasions to ask about canceling they never responded. By phone they claimed this ridiculous cancellation policy is to prevent unauthorized people from canceling your membership, which is just about the last thing you'd ever be worried about. I moved and got rid of my car, so their two methods of cancellation are a major pain. I am never dealing with these jerks again. read more

I was a member for about 12 years, paid with auto payment, never missed one month. When I moved out of the country I left a voicemail to cancel my membership (apparently not allowed, must be in writing, which I have no problem with if I had known I would have). THEN THEY SENT ME TO A COLLECTION AGENCY!!!! I did not change my email, did not change my cell phone. They now claim that they tried contacting me "multiple times". They did not as I would have no reason on earth to ignore even ONE message let alone SEVERAL. To add insult to injury I had to contact them by phone as well as 4 separate emails before nearly 2 weeks transpired when I finally received a curt email from Kristyn in billing telling this very long term customer that I didn't do my part and I'd have to deal with their collection agency instead. When I return to Seattle next year I would have rejoined perhaps for another 12 years but forget it! I have NEVER been treated like this by any company let alone one that I faithfully paid for so very long. read more

Not good -- I agree with postings below - watch your membership - if you cancel staff are tremendously unhelpful and unresponsive but more important ... they are not honoring their membership contract!!! They will promise free training sessions but they did not consult with the trainers! The trainers say they won't give you the sessions and ProRobics says talk to IanFitness and IanFitness doesn't do anything. It is amazing!! It is the second time that I stay in Seattle for two month ( I am from Argentina) and the second time I assist to the Gym. My experience was and is very good. I take the Pilates and DanceFITT classes first time, and now I tried Zumba, TBT and Yoga (with Kelly). For me is very important the guidance and experience of the instructors, and I think the instructors here are great, even when the group is numerous. I came to ProRobics after a not so positive experience as a member at the new LA Fitness in Ballard. LA Fitness felt really corporate and impersonal. It's not that I want anyone to know my name or anything like that when I walk in the door, but I just didn't need to pay extra money for features that I just ended up working on ignoring. The juice bar - I don't get food at the gym. The pool - very attractive, but never made it in there. The classes - Saturday yoga was awesome, but nothing else really appealed to me. The trainers -- pretty douchey! The bottom line was that I just didn't like going there. But, this isn't about LA Fitness...so, more about ProRobics. For me, the essential ingredients for being able to make it to the gym are: locality, easy parking, cleanliness, access to equipment and good gym etiquette among staff and clientele (I won't go into detail about what this means - just trust that if you've ever dealt with bad gym etiquette, it's a deal breaker). ProRobics scores well. Street parking is easy, it's totally clean and has spray bottles and washcloths amply handy throughout every workout area, even at its busiest times (early evening) it's still not horrendously packed and the staff and clientele are just the right amount of friendly. And it's not a scene, which is great. I'm not crazy about the classes except C.U.T. on Saturdays, and the gym has just the basics compared to the frills and bells and whistles of something like LA Fitness or Sound Mind and Body. But like I said, I don't want to get a smoothie when I go to the gym - I want to work out and not have to wait around for equipment. I also recommend the personal training services at ProRobics. I worked with a personal trainer twice a week for two months at this gym for reasonable rates and got great results. The workouts he created were perfect for me and I looked forward to going to the gym. Sessions were 30 minutes, pretty intense and I was able to put together my own workouts based on these training sessions and continued to work out on my own. My trainer also turned my onto his fitness boot camps that he runs through his own business (IanFitness.com). I participated in the summer months held outside at a Queen Anne park and winter months at the gym, and I am loving it. The boot camps are addictive and really fun, especially in the summer/early fall months when you can work out outside and get a bunch of sunshine and fresh air. read more

I really like this gym!! I went to their other gym in Laurelhurst three years ago, so when I moved to Queen Anne I knew I wanted to check out this location. It was very easy to sign up and get a month to month membership. Pros: Size-It's a big gym with large changing/shower areas. Upstairs is a cardio section and part of it is even outdoors. Location-Street parking, unique building, nice neighborhood. Group Fitness-They have a variety of classes all throughout the week. All of the instructors are EXCELLENT!! Vicki is especially good. Her classes will always kick your butt :) People-Mind their own business, older crowd, not too crowded (even after work when gyms are their busiest) Cons; Twice yearly equipment fee. Group Fitness Schedule-There are only two classes in the early morning each week. More 6 or 7 am classes would be a nice addition! I would definitely recommend this gym!! read more

Pros: very convenient location if you live on Queen Anne and a good selection of classes. I really like the body pump classes, particularly Rachel's. Cons: The cardio machines are outdated. The women's locker room is dingy and the supplies (toilet paper, etc) are not always refilled promptly. The club does not put a high enough priority to keeping things in good working order; for example, the lights except for a few small emergency bulbs were out in the women's locker room for days. read more

i go to this gym and love it. It is clean and staff are friendly and it is not expensive. I have only been to the spin classes and think they are great! Parking can sometimes be a problem depending on what time you go. The only thing I would complain is the sauna is a bit small and they don't seem to have enough early morning classes. Their earliest class is at 6am for spin which is only on Tuesday and Thursday. It would be nice to get more variety of morning classes. Overall my experience with this gym is very positive and i have recommended it to a lot of friends. It does not have a pool, but the Queen Anne pool is within walking distance to they gym. read more

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the amazing Zumba class with Daniel! That guy is a fireball! He brings positive energy and fantastic music to each session, and his style is much more challenging than other Zumba instructors I've tried. I'm in much better shape since taking his class twice a week, and I always leave super-happy. I wish he taught more classes here. As for the rest of the gym - it's perfect for my purposes. It has all the equipment I need, it's clean and uncrowded. I like that it's not like a big chain gym. The recent remodel made it feel light and airy and spacious. I'm glad they did that. I like using the cardio equipment on the second floor, with the brick wall and the big windows. read more

The gym is in OK shape, but when you go to cancel, they have a 30 day cancellation PAYMENT delay, meaning regardless of when you want to cancel, you are going to have to pay for an additional month. I tried cancelling in Mid-June and am forced to pay all the way through August. When I asked management about it, they hid behind "company policy" talk. read more

You won't find better trainers and there are bothing but good people working, and working out, here. This has been my gym for nearly 20 years and I still see some of the same friendly faces I saw back then. Loyal patrons say a lot about any business.
