Over time, with Brightview's recommendation, my mother-in-law graduated out of Brightview to independent living--a true testament to the level of progress she made and Brightview's priority to put the resident's needs first. So, Brightview was the obvious choice when, after a long hospital stay and rehab, our family faced the challenge of arranging ongoing care for my mother, Dottie. Insurance terminated our coverage for rehab 2 weeks early with 2 days notice, which was terrifying. The sales team, led by Stacey Taylor and supported by her assistant Mark, worked genuine magic and secured us a space. We are forever grateful for their care and dedication. From the start, the Brightview team made a scary transition feel manageable. After the first evaluation period, it became clear that memory care would be necessary. The staff didn't just provide care; they created a comforting routine that helped my mother feel safe and steady every day. What stood out most was the care woven through every role: - Concierge staff who welcomed us with warmth and consistency - Activity coordinators who kept life engaging and meaningful - Day-to-day experienced and long-term hands-on caregivers who treated her with patience and kindness - The wonderful chefs who prepared meals with care and attention to nutrition - The healthcare teams led by Mary Jean McCarthy and Irene George, whose expertise and compassion were pivotal to her improvement - Above all, Kimkitta Cariah-Butler consistently demonstrated professionalism and warmth, making us feel safe and at home every step of the way. We are deeply grateful to everyone who touched my mother's life at Brightview Fallsgrove. Their teamwork and heart made a difficult time not only bearable but significantly better for her--and for us. We would wholeheartedly recommend Brightview to anyone needing quality care for a loved one. If you're evaluating options, Brightview Fallsgrove is a standout choice. Thank you to the entire Brightview Fallsgrove community for the care, patience, and unwavering support.

She was there to get help with rehab and steady medication flow for an infection that she got after having surgery. My mother's first night there, they neglected my mother who was in pain. They did not follow the orders from the doctors to administer her medication in a timely manner. My mother called me complaining that they took her medication out of her bag. She was in pain, and that they are not giving it to her. I called them and asked about her medication, and they stated that that the pharmacy didn't send it. When I told them that the hospital sent it over in her bag, they Al of a sudden found her medication. When my mom called for help to use the restroom or to have her bag changed, they wouldn't come, so she had to get out of her bed and do it herself. No one changed her bed, when she asked for crackers, they gave her two, she asked for water they gave her lukewarm, she said she was hungry, they told her the kitchen was closed. My first visit there, I walked in to one staff member doing another staff members eyebrows or lashes. It smelled like pee, the furniture was from the 60's / 70's, peeled paint on the walls, bathroom fixtures old and not cleaned. What they feed them was so disgusting. Just because most of those people are dementia patients, they should not be cared for in that manner. My mom needed her bag changed, and one of the techs took a cup out of the trash and filled it with water and tried to pour the water in my mother's colonoscopy bag. My mom called me crying and upset. Because I called and told them my mom was aware of what's going, and the fact that she was a CNA, she worked housekeeping, and she just retired from a hospital, she knows how she should be treated. I took my mom out of this place, and the EMT's came to transport her back to the hospital. Potomac Valley refused to release my mother's medication that the hospital sent over with her. Lydia, Ann and the other ladies who where on call that night refused to come and talk to me or give the EMT's my mother's medication. They told the EMT's that my mother didn't ask for her medication. My mom and I asked and for her medication and they gave her the run around. Please do not put your family members in this place. No one should be treated in this manner. My mother's roommate suffers from dementia and the put her bed to the floor with a thin mat, just in case she rolls out the bed. Why don't the have new beds for these people. Why are they being treated by untrained, unqualified people.

There are musical performances and other cultural and healthful activities. It's difficult for anyone to adjust to a new environment, and even more so for an elderly person with dementia. The Kensington Park staff do their best to welcome and acclimate new residents - which, with the added problem of Covid, is a challenge. They are kind and attentive, dealing with irritability and other behaviors with grace and patience. The management is very open to communication from family members and every issue is addressed. She loves taking walks in the historic section of Kensington, right behind the building, and walking to the Saturday farmer's market. Noise from the trains passing by so closely has not been a problem at all! In fact, she really likes watching them go by. She also really likes the fact that the town of Kensington has almost all the services she needs, so she doesn't have to go far. There are a few "growing pains" being so new, still hiring staff, but they are finding great people and constantly improving. This place really doesn't feel like a senior home, which is also appealing, and residents don't feel at all micro-managed or confined. Brand new. Although my mom is in independent living, she continues to hear great things from residents about their assisted living and memory care services as well. She likes the relatively small size of the facility. They have a driver to take people to local appointments, they show movies on Friday nights, offer several art classes, and more. The food is all made-to-order in the restaurant. Service is leisurely, but very pleasant. They have an in-house hairdresser, also fitness coach. It's all about the people, and that's really made it for my mom.
