Well, I am no septic tank expert and this guy clearly could tell so he got me for triple the price. And when I go to pay, he tells me they can't except card payments so I have to write a check. I later find out that my septic tank was actually cleaned out less than three years prior (when I bought the house, didn't realize it until I found that in my records) so I was totally scammed. BTW, this was actually back in 2017 but I just found the name of the company so I had to leave a review so others don't get taken advantage of as well.

I saw good yelp reviews, and chose Affordable Septic Solutions, luckily they were available on short notice. I was quoted $75 more than the other company, but since they were available, and I didn't have to take another day off, I was happy to pay extra. I had a zoom meeting at 2:30pm so I asked for them to come at 4pm. The workers showed up at 2 pm, I asked if they had heard about the appointment at 4pm, they said that's not how it works. I told them I will have a meeting very soon, they said I wouldn't even have to be outside. I had to go outside of course to show them where the tank was, then one worker started digging. I come outside after my meeting at 4pm, thinking they would be done, he is still digging up the tank. Then he complains nonstop about how he has been digging for so long and says there are too many roots to break up. He says he has been getting calls about how this one job is taking too long, how the company should charge me extra. I tell him I have been using a different company for years, that sometimes just sends out one guy and does this work for cheaper without any complaints. I told him also that it was dug up a year ago in March, right before everything shut down due to COVID ( My septic tank backs up after a year or so, so I get it pumped every year to avoid the back up) He says there is no way that was a year ago because all these roots could not have grown back that fast, asks me if I actually watched them dig it up, I say yes. He asks the same questions over and over because he doesn't believe me. I told him this company comes back year after year and charges me the same price, doesn't complain about roots or the digging. As he is digging he asks me if I would like him to put the bricks back that were in the yard that he removed to dig up the septic tank. He says he can try to put them back, that he couldn't guarantee that he could put them back the way they were. Below are the pics of how he left them. I do not have a problem with the mulch all getting dug up, that is fine and is what will happen every time. I don't understand how he was not 'able' to put them back and had the audacity to ask if I wanted them back in place. Really?? They also requested a water spigot, which was a first for me. I showed it to them in the backyard and they attach their hose to use it. After they leave, i check my own hose and realize the attachment is gone. I called the workers, one didn't bother to respond to a text or pick up, the other picked up and said the attachment was theirs. 2 minutes later he calls back apologizes and says he will return it once he clocks out. It was returned that evening which I was grateful for, but also very puzzling why you would use someone's hose attachment to clean septic tank materials that would get splattered with fecal matter. The payment process was very smooth, minus the fact that they asked me how much I was quoted rather than knowing the amount they should be charging. That is what the 1 star is for. Otherwise I personally would never hire this company again, the workers that showed up were so rude to me and treated me like a lying idiot.

FYI, I opened the tank lid, cleared the spot for them had all the tools and hoses necessary which they knew and as seen in prior photos my tank is 10 feet from the fence.... They removed all of our exiting gas lines and installed a brand new gas Tankless water heater. The 2 gentlemen that came out (Leonel and Osvaldo) were super nice and did an awesome job (they work super clean). Within 2 days they ran the new gas lines and installed the new tankless water heater. Everything has been working great now (its been a few months). I will be having them come out to install a Gas Pool water heater as well in the near future, cant wait to get that done and report back.

I sent their boss a pic of a glob of roots in the tank and he said it was not an issue, but pictures are not a substitute for onsite 3D visuals and when I went back outside the glob was gone but I don't know where it went. I was left wondering if there was an issue with the tank. I just complained to their boss Nathaniel and he glossed it over saying they would have told him if there was an issue. Not good enough. You'd be a fool to trust second hand communication. The crew could have been covering up an issue they could have resolved if they'd spoken English, or didn't know how to deal with the roots, or even cared. Even worse, the crew drove their heavy gigantic tanker truck over the edge of my drainfield, possibly crushing it. What's so outrageous about this is this is a septic company. They're supposed to know. The crew, or Nathaniel, never inquired about the location of the drainfield; not even in Spanish. They just drove the truck across my front yard. All of this indicates incompetent management that is oblivious to American born households and vetting and training crew to avoid drain fields. But go ahead, take your chances with them. Im going to have to put in an entirely new system at my expense again. The cottage that this septic system installed by Southern Septic does not work. The company won't help me. My cottage is uninhabitable when it rains heavily. Unable to breathe those horrid fumes coming from the drains.
