They each came with two corn tortillas, which were a little stuck together as if microwaved. It was definitely my mistake because they are definitely not a Mexican restaurant. I went to give Horses on a Saturday at 1pm during the winter for just a casual lunch with a friend. We didn't have a reservation but were able to sit down right away. Stopped in for brunch with a friend. Cozy place. We shared the cornbread- yum! My friend ordered chicken fingers- huge serving. She enjoyed it and took home leftovers. I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuit after asking the server about that option vs the tater tot option. He told me the biscuit was very good. I'm going to assume it was an off day. The biscuit was chewy- hard to cut with fork and knife. The sausage gravy had no taste- bland. I didn't eat it. One of my go to places when visiting from Buffalo! The food is always creative, and absolutely delicious. Their standard fare is also great (Especially the fish and chips and the Sammy sandwich). I keep forgetting this place exists. I mean, I tend to forget Davis square in general, but this place specifically I forget is there. And while forgetting Davis square is kind of understandable, I think it's a shame I forget this place. Came into town and needed to find a place that was central and could accommodate a dozen people. This looked like a good location and they were able to take my reservation on a lovely Saturday late morning with no problem. A good portion of the crew enjoy an alcoholic beverage with their meals and when I selected 5 Horses, I got a lot of positive shout outs for it. We had great service, especially for a large party. I ordered the Southern Comfort to split with the bf, which included eggs, fried chicken, a thyme biscut with a hearty sausage gravy along with a Honey Crisp Cider from Carlson Orchard. Oh my... what a fantastic dish! The eggs were cooked perfectly (medium over), the chicken was flavorful and crispy, the biscuit was also really tasty and they poured a delicious, savory sausage gravy over it to boot! My tastebuds were in heaven! The cider was sweet and also crisp and definitely a great compliment to the meal. The bf maybe ate a third of it since his stomach doesn't wake up until the afternoon but even he couldn't stop eating! I've taken my time to write this review, for no reason in particular, other than forgetting... and even after 5 months, I still think about this breakfast and can't wait to get back here sometime! There was a World Cup game on that we weren't watching, but everyone else was interested in. I was interested in their mimosa flight - and it was PHENOMENAL. 4 different freshly squeezed juices with bubbles. Delightful. The staff had great suggestions about beer for my husband (he tried a few local options and enjoyed them), and helped me decide on a delicious taco to snack on. Posting a little late from back when it was still warm enough to eat outside, but I'm definitely pumped for the next time I can come back! This place has stayed at the top of my brunch list after a few visits to both the Somerville and South End locations. The mimosa flight always has fun unique flavors and is fun to share or drink alone. The breakfast pizza is a LARGE breakfast so I usually have leftovers but the flavors are really good and the eggs are perfectly gooey so all the flavors mingle perfectly on top of the crispy crust. The pulled pork eggs benedict was also a unique spin on a classic breakfast and did not disappoint! One small issue with the outdoor seating at the South End location was the lack of umbrellas to shield the direct brunch-time sunlight, but I think I was just at an unlucky table and with the need for social distancing I understand why we weren't able to relocate. read more

Mixed bag here. I really liked my shrimp taco's, great flavor and cooked well. I'm told the fish n chips, loaded nachos, and Shepard's pie were all good. My son's wings were honestly some of the worst I've EVER had. They were rubbery and had no flavor whatsoever. The drunken had no flavor and the Korean had very little sauce or flavor. I just wish that there were more plant-based/vegan food options. As far as I could tell, they had two vegan options, a hummus dip and "powerbowl". The fact that they even have items marked with a vegan label is great, but I wish they could have had something under the pizza or burger section too. That being said, there's nothing holding me back from going here for drinks alone. And with how busy they can get (it was pretty packed on a Thursday night), squeezing in at the bar for some drinks might be your best option.
