Super service. Pitti was friendly and attentive. Originally we were going to get our food to go then we saw the patio. It was a little dusty but we had Huckleberry with us and he could join us. Our waitress was very nice. She made a special effort to bring water for Huck. Our food was great! I had the chopped brisket with collard greens and coleslaw. The brisket was moist and flavorful. The greens were spicy. The slaw was crunchy. Hubby had the sliced brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage with beans and slaw. His brisket tender and moist and very tasty. The sausage was good but it didn't have much heat. The beans were spicy and the slaw was good. The serving sizes were generous. We also got spicy pickles. I would definitely recommend the Shack BBQ to anyone who asked.

Loved the live music out on the patio. It was warm but the music was fun. The deviled eggs with brisket was my favorite dish tonight. Good flavor plus's brisket! The meat in our main dishes was a bit dry, both the brisket and turkey. The pork ribs and both types of sausage were delicious. The potato salad and Mac n cheese were good. Skip the coleslaw unless you really love pepper.

Wow what a find! I love BBQ and when I travel and find a BBQ gem I feel like I hit lottery. This place hits the lottery. I had the opportunity to try the amazing beef rib. Most folks fail miserably on the beef rib. Not these guys it was incredible. A great smokey exterior and a moist meaty interior. This thing rocks! Can't wait to come back and try other meats. OMG!!!! The BBQ here is sooo good. At first i was scared to drive here bc it's in a middle of no where but so worth the drive. Good brisket not dry but super moist. Ribs are yummy with their seasoning which is sweet. The bbq sauce is very good. 4 different kinds to try. Service was excellent and super fast. Atmosphere is cozy and nice.

I've had a lot of BBQ, and this place came through. The potato salad was spot on: creamy but not too heavy, with just the right tang. The slaw balanced it out with a fresh crunch and light sweetness, not the overly mayo-drenched kind you usually get. Good palette cleansers but nothing game changing. The brisket. This wasn't just good brisket, this was the best brisket I've had to date. Perfect bark, deep smoke ring, juicy as hell with that buttery texture that melts in your mouth. Every bite hit well. If you're serious about BBQ, this brisket should be on your bucket list. Service and ambiance was good too. Portion sizes were respectable.

This may be some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. No joke, I'm from Texas, and had many friends in BBQ competition, so I've tasted a lot. We were here for family weekend and loved so much about The Shack BBQ. The beef ribs were a great surprise. Most beef ribs are a little tough. These dinosaur size ~3 pounders were stunningly tender and juicy to the core. The plate had two sides with it and the Mac and cheese was off the hook rich and cheesy. The loaded baked potato salad was perfection! The collard greens were the best we've ever had and the leaves were not as chopped as most and it had a little kick of heat built in. The turkey was moist and the Jalapeño sausage was remarkably good! It was a great atmosphere for a Texas BBQ place and well worth driving outside the ring. My hat goes off to other Yelpers who complemented this stunning BBQ and drew us in! The service was exceptional and it was an all-around great meal! One funny bit was our nephew, who is a freshman at Tech got a small side of ranch and on his first taste, his eyes shot open and mouth gaped and he yelled that's a very hot ranch dressing!! Later, we asked Brandy the owner about it, and she said they must have grabbed the "flaming A## ranch by mistake" they are marked FA, but right beside the normal ranch in the cooler. That was so funny. Try it, you'll love it!

Been here a couple of times now since I started traveling to Lubbock (from San Diego). I've had the brisket before, and it is as good as any well known bbq spots in TX. What really made me want to comment this time, finally, is their beef ribs! Tender, juicy... melt in your mouth kind of thing. I've spent about a quarter of my life living in TX, and this is definitely an epitome of great shack like bbq spot that delivers quality smoked meat! What's more important is that the beef rib plate didn't break past my meal per diem! read more

The Shack has been my favorite place for barbecue for the last probably 10 years. It used to be wonderful. I've been there twice recently and both times the barbecue was horrible! They were out most of the sides both times. I ordered lean meat and it was covered in fat. It was the worst barbecue I've ever had. As not to mention how filthy the restaurant was!!! It was beyond dirty. I don't know why the health department has not closed them down. I went to the restroom just to wash my hands, and I could not believe how nasty it was. The corners of the floors have not been cleaned in forever, not to mention everything else. I was very disappointed at how this place has gone down. I understand it's different owners, but they are not taking care of it. read more

I would give this place more stars if I could. This is my first time being in Texas and now I know what they say about Texas hospitality! Steven the manager was the KINDEST person I have ever met, went above and beyond every step of the way even though we came in 15 minutes before closing. The meats were incredible but I have to say the collard greens were the BEST I've ever had! I wish The Shack BBQ was in my hometown because I would make this a weekly stop. read more

I'm very happy with the food. Some of the best ribs we've had. Smoked turkey was also very tender and tasty. I'm not a fan of their sour cream potato salad. We'll try the mustard potato salad pulled pork or brisket next time. Certainly have the ribs again. They're killer! read more

Visited The Shack BBQ for the 1s time and OMG!! Best ribs I've ever eaten...better than Franklin's in Austin! They were so tender and perfectly seasoned...the hubby was craving smoked turkey and he was extremely happy with his selection but he couldn't stop munching on those ribs. the smoked turkey was also tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. This is a cute lil place! I feel the meat is the star, as it should be, but the sides were lacking very much so. The Mac n' Cheese was just all thickening agent and no cheese, the "traditional" potato salad was far from tradition as it was so mustard heavy (which I like mustard in potato salad but not that much), and the coleslaw just lacked flavor. It was very basic and had nothing to set it apart. On the other hand, the meat is to die for. The all beef sausage had good flavor, the pulled pork had a decent ratio of fat to muscle, and the sliced brisket was probably 10/10 in my book. The meat made the meal. read more

I will say the brisket was a bit drier than I remember but I will chalk that up to us arriving thirty minutes before they closed. Ribs were excellent - smokey sweet and moist. We got the Jalapeño Cheese sausage which was a wonderfully spicy and cheesy with a a nice snap to the casing. We also had the Cheesy Grits and Potato Salad which were wonderful. The pint of cheesy grits were completely gone. We also picked up a couple of the homemade cakes to complement our leftovers. Oh, did I mention the free beer too? That always accentuates the BBQ experience. The restaurant is still as warm and inviting as before. Parking is easy. The staff took good care of us and were still in good spirits before closing. The first time we were there we got to meet Mallory Armis who sold us on the Green Chile cheesy grits and we aren't big fans of grits. We look forward to there grits. While we briefly saw Mallory this time she was busy. Hoping to meet Armis next time we're back. Hat's off to the pitmasters and staff at Evie Mae's BBQ. We'll be back.

Once our meals arrived, it was time to dig in. The food was hot, prepared exactly as expected, and in typical Texas fashion there was more than we could expect to eat in a single sitting. At Chopped and Sliced BBQ, you will never leave hungry. Honorable mention to the fried Okra. I became the star of the night as almost everyone at the table couldn't get enough of it. Also, not sure if it was a regular or one-off, but the night we were dining in there was a man playing traditional Americana folk songs on guitar just inside by the entrance. It ruins the process of eating the potato in a simple enjoyable fashion as a knife is actually needed to carve out bite size pieces of potato. An unfortunate result of this method is butter etc seeps out of the potato and into your general eating space. I got this order to go and had to mop my kitchen floor from the mess it created before I could actually eat it. Messy BBQ may be niche yall are trying to pitch but I do not think it is cute. The potato was semi hard and quite bland. After around 5-8 bites all I was left with was half of a plain unflavored potato I suggest cooking staff and management ensure their potatoes are properly cooked to the point that the potato feels like a ripe avocado . Kitchen staff should gently yet firmly push down the properly cooked potato to change the texture and create a reservoir to properly hold the toppings. Food gets zero stars, as I mentioned. I will give 2 stars because order was ready fast and the employee expediting to go orders was really nice. A theme of many of my reviews is "do it right or don't do it all". It is my opinion Rudy's should not sell baked potatoes until they overhaul their process.

Finally, the evening started with drinks- my choice, an espresso martini. At the bar, the lady asked if I wanted "creamy and sweet" and I said "neither"-- what she gave me was AMAZING! She said if I reordered at the table later to say the same to our waiter, with my name. I did, and ... yikes- not even close to the same flavor. Overall, we love coming here for the atmosphere and waitstaff, but the consistency in quality of food keeps regressing. It truly makes me sad.

The absolute very best barbecue on the planet. I grew up in the Texas hill country where if a person had a BBQ place and if it wasn't good, they may have well moved away or live in shame for the rest of their days. Kyle, Kelly and the gang are just out and out great folks to hang with besides being amazing cooks. I love to just spend time out there and chill besides stuffing my yapper with the smoked meat delights that is creating a lake in my mouth as I write this. Ain't much better than a great plate of that melt in your mouth brisket or ribs!! Sauce isn't necessary but I must say it is a nice compliment once in a while. The beef ribs and brisket here are as good as it gets, but make sure you get there early (sometimes they run out, if there's high demand). Definitely worth the drive! I would definitely recommend in the ribs and dessert. A must when coming through Lubbock. They are a little slow on service, but it's worth the wait. read more
