    Seafood Platter

Excellent food and a great new location right next to the interstate at Exit 96. Staff is super friendly, we were sat quickly. Great menu with seafood, burgers, sandwiches, and some special creations. Even hand dipped Hershey's ice cream for the kids. Delicious BBQ - the nachos are a great starter too. Bar area with plenty of big TVs to watch. I hear they are getting pizza added at this location soon too. A great stop between Montgomery and Mobile! Highly recommend.

Stopped here on the way to NOLA with our baby. Solid pick with good food. We ordered the lumpia rolls and the meat platter. The bbq sauce on the table is on the sweeter side. All of the meats were delish. The Brunswick stew was in the more tomato-y side. All in all would stop by again.

First and foremost, the food was great! Secondly service was slow we had gotten in at 12:04 on a Sunday afternoon, I get it church crowds and didn't leave til 1:00pm and it was a party of two. Thirdly prices are great for the quality of food. And last but not least, I am not happy when we left the cook got corrected by a waitress and he started yelling and cursing as we head out the door he go more belligerent and I was happy we where leaving cause I felt he was ether going to walk out or spit in my food. It's a okay place. Probably would not go back. I got the ladies pulled pork fries, it did not come with BBq sauce on it I had to add my own came with a side of Ranch. The top of the meal was cokes like they had the meat in the refrigerator then put it on the fries. The need to make sure to through it in an oven for a quick meat warming a cheese melting and then it would have been the best. The chocolate mousse cake was ok I have had better. So yeah.

Brisket, green beans, pork ribs, slaw.

1pm on a Monday not crazy busy, seated right away. Friendly wait staff, got our drinks fast, ordered and food was on the table in probably 5 minutes! Ordered: brisket, ribs, green beans, salad, slaw. Pros: our favorite were the ribs, tender falling off the bone. The brisket had great flavor but more tough in contrast to the ribs and we got more fat than meat in our portion. Green beans were amazing, fresh and cooked like french green beans, salad great as well! Cons: Don't get the unsweetened tea, not good, very watered down. The slaw was ok, a little too much water mayo and sugar for our preferences. Would definitely come back and get the ribs again!

Disappointing Blackened shrimp wrap with fried okra
    Meredith G.

Cute place with faux rustic decor. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the blackened shrimp wrap with Fried okra as a side. The shrimp were tiny and definitely not blackened, undercooked if anything. There was so much sauce the whole thing was kinda slimy. I ate some of the shrimp out of it but left the rest. The fried okra was great so I filled up on that and had some of my husband's fried shrimp which was so much better but his French fries were cold and unseasoned. I didn't complain to management because we were traveling and ready to be back on the road.

Stopped in, like most, while traveling 65. In a nutshell the chicken was great, the beans were very good and the potatoes and onions could use a little work. Overall, it was a great dinner. I had the pork skins appetizer and they were nothing special from others but did come to the table fresh out of the grease and still popping. They were very large and there was a lot of them. I couldn't finish them by myself. As mentioned, for my entree I had the 1/2 smoked chicken (house white sauce on the side) with beans and potatoes & onions. The chicken only comes in dark and white. They will not do all dark or all white. I'm not a big smoked white meat chicken fan since it's typically dry and chalky. However, this was very moist and paired well with the white sauce. I didn't really care for their red sauce with it but it may pair better with their pork and beef bbq. Next time I'm traveling 65 and need to stop for a bite this will be where I choose.

I was recently traveling to Destin with my daughter for spring break and stopped by The Shack for lunch. Cora was working the bar area and was super attentive, a great multi-tasked and an extremely hard worker! She has a pleasant personality and made my overall experience enjoyable. I ordered the catfish dinner with baked beans and potato salad. I give the catfish a 9 out of 10, I prefer my catfish a bit crispy, so next time, I'll request it crispy. The baked beans were a 9 and the potato salad was a 8 The entrance to the restaurant is super cute! It has some vintage decor (see the photos to view the images) I'd definitely recommend the restaurant! Cora was simply amazing!

Great service and good food! We stopped her in a drive from ATL and were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress, Isabella, was awesome!

Sweet Christmas, I wish we had one of these where I live, because MY GAHHHH. When we arrived, the hostess pre-warned me that things were taking longer than usual but they were going as fast as they could. I've never been, so I didn't know what the usual was but we were in no hurry anyway. I don't know what their time goals are, but the food came out fast and mannn it was amazing. Every single thing I put in my mouth was literal perfection. The pulled pork on my sandwich was the most tender and juicy pork I've ever had. The fries were great. My husband's burger was huge and the meat was thick. I took a bite and it tasted as good as it looked. I can't remember what my daughter got, but I remember she loved it as well. Service was fantastic and the prices were good. 10/10, definitely recommend if you're in the area.

So we had to eat before arriving on Friday (we had a late lunch at David's Catfish House and it was very good). On Saturday we drive out of town and found South Forty on our way back to Mobile. It was about 10:45 am and a little early for a burger, but after reading the reviews decided to go for it. I showed her my ADA card, and she went and called the owner who told her that he/she was going to post on their website that no animals are allowed including service animals. I told her that was illegal and they are breaking the law, and she became quite nasty and said "We have the right to refuse service to anyone." Again I attempted to educate her on the legalities regarding service animals and she said to me "Are you going to stop talking and listen to me?" When I asked to let us eat in peace and please get away from our table, she became irate and told us to leave that she was going to call the owner. I'm very well aware of my rights regarding my service animal and that she will hear from my attorney. As I was leaving and she had the owner on the phone, she then tried to tell us we didn't have to leave. After she had been rude, non compliant with federal laws, and called attention to my elder sister and I, staying was not conducive to her ugly attitude. She NOR the owner obviously seem to feel federal laws protecting people with disabilities apply to them. Perhaps a bit of insight will keep them from discriminating against someone else. I WILL indeed be contacting my attorney as well as the Justice Department, and the State of Alabama's ACLU. Under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), private businesses that serve the public must allow service dogs to accompany their handlers into all areas where customers are normally allowed. What Businesses Must Do Allow Access Everywhere: Service animals must be permitted in public areas, including restaurants, grocery stores, and hotels, overriding standard "no pets" or health department food-service rules. Treat Equally: Businesses cannot isolate customers with service dogs, charge extra fees, or demand pet deposits. Accept Only Dogs (and Miniature Horses): Under the federal ADA, only dogs (and in specific guidelines, miniature horses) trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability qualify as service animals. Emotional support animals are not protected. What Businesses Can Ask When it is not obvious what service the animal provides, staff may only ask two questions: Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff cannot ask about the person's disability, require medical documentation, require a special ID card or certification, or ask the dog to demonstrate its task. I called back at closing time to obtain the owner's name and phone number, she refused to give me either and told me I had to call back in the morning. She then proceeded to tell me "I'm the rude woman that spoke to you and when I once again attempted to explain that service dogs are protected by Article 3 of the American Disability Act, she started again arguing. At this point, I played the phone down and walked away not wanting to argue with her or to be rude and hang up on her. Its unfortunate that this lady feels she can not follow the laws she doesn't want to, and that the owner seems to feel their business is exempt from federal laws. Robyn Belknap 8/24/2026

But, that would not be a fair description of this tradition: BBQ is an incredible style of cooking and spots like this represent this tradition well. BBQ 65 is conveniently located right off the interstate in a gas station in a saloon like building that has a beautiful character from the outside. Open since 2010s, this spot has started to earn its place in the BBQ world, albeit being newer to it. There is an indoor seating inside near the gas station shop aisles. The ribs are cooked well with a nice wood profile, but neither very delicate nor particularly notable for their flavor of the meat itself, with smoke notes dominating. The quality of pork itself and the slightly tougher preparation could be better to rival Alabama's best. The BBQ sauce is loaded up with vinegar, completely overpowering the meat if consumed together, although to be fair, this may be a matter of preference for some BBQ lovers. The star of the show is potato salad which was perfectly balanced on its acidity, sweetness and overall flavor. As a whole, BBQ 65 is a pleasant stop to experience some traditional southern cooking and support a local business instead of tossing money into another "by the exit" fast food chain.

The grass was high and the landscape beds were full of weeds. There was no "open" sign on the outside of the building. I walked in and the place was empty other than a lady who greeted me and sat me at a table. The floor was dirty and felt greasy. The menu she handed me felt dirty also. She was friendly, and asked what I'd like to drink. I ordered a water and a cup of seafood gumbo and a butterfly fried shrimp plate with fried okra and red beans and rice. She brought out the gumbo, but with no crackers, then disappeared. I got up to look for her with no luck. So I waited. The next time I saw her she was carrying out my shrimp platter. I asked her for crackers and she immediately retrieved some. She asked if I needed anything else, and I said no. The shrimp tasted fresh like it had come from the gulf. I asked her the shrimps country of origin and she went to ask the chef. She came back out and said it was gulf shrimp, which I could tell. The gumbo was very good, but a cup wasn't worth the $8.99 I paid for it. The okra was just frozen breaded okra. The hushpuppies were thick and heavy, not very good. The red beans and rice was tasty and made with alot of sausage in it. Small portion. During the meal I asked to see a menu again, and again it felt greasy and dirty. I ordered the appetizer crab cakes. When they came out, they looked bulky and the outside was hard. I'd say they were from a frozen bag and deep fried. I took one bite and it did not taste good, so I didn't eat them. I ordered the bread pudding for dessert and was disappointed. It was thick and hard, and not very good as bread puddings go. It certainly wasn't made recently. All in all I was disappointed with my meal and experience. I'd eaten at a Winzells Oyster house in Guntersville, AL before (delicious) and it just seemed like this Greenville, AL location was subpar in store presentation and cleanliness, food quality, and service. I would not recommend it unless positive changes were made across the board. My total cost was $60.98. I've included some photos.
