I use The Shade Company exclusively for all my units. Firstly they are significantly more cost-effective than other providers I have dealt with in the past. Secondly, they are also more reliable with communication + service - I work with Oren the installer and Iris in sales consistently, who have been great for every install (4 time for 8 units). UPDATE - After 6 months of having poorly made and horribly installed Graber blinds with numerous remakes only to receive damaged and inferior quality replacements which we only decided to purchase because of a promotion that Costco was running, The Shade Company along with Costco decided instead of doing the right thing and providing an alternative better quality product, that cancelling the order was best for them. Leaving us to start the entire process all over again. We have been more than patient, understanding, cooperative and willing to look for a solution. Now they want to have them removed before we have a chance to have them replaced leaving us with nothing. Strange since they were in no rush to correct the issues but now there is an urgency to have them uninstalled. The one star goes towards the actual shades, which seem to be serving the intended purpose. The experience working with this company was very frustrating and disappointing. Eran came in the last 5 minutes of the scheduled appointment window, quoting me an installation of 10 days from that day. He specifically mentioned this date multiple times stating it was the soonest he could GUARANTEE. Then after we agreed and paid, I get an email saying 15-25 days for production to be completed. Yet, we specifically stated in our email that we were agreeing to work with this company under the pretense that the shades would be installed by said date (10 days). I spoke with Iris, who was very crass and rude telling me that I definitely misheard and there was no way they would be able to do it that quickly. She was unaccommodating and defensive throughout the entire process. She very begrudgingly said she would to try to speed up the production time. I continued to follow up as our initial date came and went, 10 days past the originally "guaranteed" date from Eran, we were getting no responses and my husband had to write an aggressively, strong email just to get a response from them. I do not recommend them based on the stressful, poor experience. The shades are fine, though I did have some scraps of metal fall as I was closing them the first night. LOOK ELSEWHERE. Customer experience matters, especially when you're talking about a project that will take several weeks. You want people who are communicative and provide a trusting, positive experience - not ones that take your money under false pretenses and leave you on pins and needles for weeks feeling scammed. read more

Roy was great to guide me in the process, I needed 2 motorized so he installed this very nice system that works on long autonomy battery with a very slick remote that works great. Loving my new unique color shades! Great experience in general -fast appointment to get an estimate. they were very flexible with my schedule. -had so many options that it took me time to choose - estimator was very patient and helpful with the choice. I ended up with something completely different based on recommendation and absolutely loving it! It wouldn't look as good if I would get what I originally had in mind. -time between estimate and delivery/installation was very reasonable - I've heard from other people (using different vendors) that it could take more than a month. Over a year ago had blinds installed. Requested a quote for replacing them with a different color shade. I was upset that the price of the install the second time around was significantly more than the first install. Granted, this was because of a previous discount that was no longer available. The Shade Company went completely out of their way to ensure I had a really positive experience interacting with them through email and some calls. They went above and beyond, and helped take care of me. I was a little skeptical about their appreciation of clients but they have fully demonstrated they care about their customers. I'm very happy with the new shades and would recommend new and repeat customers to let them handle the installations. Read fine print! Trusted rep wrote down black out shades for our baby room. Didn't read fine print when signed. They delivered sheer for our baby room. Who in their right mind would want light coming into their baby room. Also note... Room is Positioned so people can't see in. Just light comes in. Now why would i pay for a shade to let light in? I want to block light. They refused to refund and want me to pay for new shade. Also note: They said it would be ready in 2 weeks. We ordered on June 17 and we got it July 24. I worked with The Shade Company through Costco and it's been a good experience. I wanted some cellular shades and the rep who came to measure my windows accidentally entered my order wrong. So when the installer came with my shades, one of my windows didn't have the correct size shades but the company quickly sent in a corrected order for it. The replacement installation was done as promised. At every step of the way, the office called and emailed me to keep me informed of where my order was. The installer came exactly on time and he was very friendly, courteous and did a clean job. The Graber shades look like they're good quality products and I got a great deal on them. I found them in YELP and decided to call them for a quote for a new apartment we moved into, it was around the holidays but they were very responsive and accommodating to come and take measurements right away; after we decided to move ahead, their execution was impressive, they contacted us to obtain the insurance requirements of the building with enough time ahead and kept our order on track and within the promised timeframe. i had a very good experience with the shade company. for a long time (like 20 years) i had bamboo/paper shades that weren't long enough for my loft windows. this time, for a number of reasons, i decided to get custom shades. i went to several places looking for the right thing. finally settled on honeycomb shades. i chose the shade company because i liked dealing with a store that specialized in just window coverings. they were a bit more expensive then say home depot or bed, bath & beyond BUT they had lots of choices and worked with me. i live in brooklyn and the company they used to do the installation here was fantastic. the man who came out to do the measuring and give me a price was pretty much on time (my neighborhood is hell to park in), very pleasant and efficient. he told me the shades would be ready in a couple of weeks and they were. the installer was also here on time and a real professional. my building is very ornery about a contractor providing proof of insurance. the shade company made me provide the info (building manager's name & ## etc.) and got all their ducks in a row before the installation. i realize that they use different installation companies for different areas so perhaps i was just lucky. read more

I was very impressed with their professional manner from the initial estimates, to the follow up calls and schedules, and the installation. Short version: we went with them over cheaper options because of a promise of stellar service and a hope that we'd have an installer who did things like cleaning up afterwards; we were disappointed. In retrospect I'd go with Blinds To Go or some alternative like that...at least in this case, we didn't get much for the extra price. Here's our story: - Had a guy come out to measure windows etc. Requested single-cell blinds. - Initially received quota for (more expensive) double-cell blinds - Clarified that we wanted single-cell; they confirmed (incorrectly) that's what the quote was for. - Installer came and put in double-cell blinds. They're fine, though we specifically wanted single-cell (not for price, but for appearance). - Installer left screws and hardware on the floor for our 14-month-old to find (which she did!) - Followup email describing our disappointment received no reply; the "stellar" customer service ended as soon as they had our money. Surprise! The end result wasn't terrible, but cost about 30% more than a reasonable-looking alternative for no clear gain. read more

I screwed up and told them my building didn't require a Certificate of Insurance to install the shades. They turn up to install the shades, the building balks. They worked it out with the building and installed the shades the same day regardless, even though it meant their installation guy would be late for his next appointment. The only negative was that it took on the longer side of their estimate to have the shades actually manufactured. But given the above, five stars. read more

I inherited a set of motorized shades that The Shade Company installed when I moved into my new apartment. In the 4 months that I have had these shades, they've broken 3 times and each time, I am appalled at their customer service. It takes more than 2 weeks to get a repair tech out to look at them (I have just been told that I need to wait a month to replace a broken chain) but on top of that, it takes almost 2 weeks to get an appointment scheduled because they always promise to "call me right back" and I have to chase them down for days. To anyone thinking about using this company, I suggest you think twice. Once they've done the initial installation, they have absolutely no interest in the follow-up. In fact, I'm almost convinced that they want me to find another company. I wish that I had just ripped these motorized shades out when I had the chance. read more

These guys did a decent job on the first job, but when I tried to get them to do a second job their customer service was terrible. Scheduled a guy, he cancelled day before. Rescheduled - then he doesn't show up. They say "he called you, I emailed you to confirm" but of course there is no email, there was no call. 4 hours of my life I can't get back. We have had nothing but problems with this company from the onset. The quality, the service, the communication - all sub-par. Blinds arrived in the wrong size, after their incompetent workers came twice to measure. One shade had a pin hole in it and they said it was a fabric defect (that clearly their QC department thought was fine). They let emails go days and/or weeks with no response.
