Wow!!! Every now and then, you have an experience that you want to shout from the rooftops, and I had that experience with the Shade Doctor today. To give a bit of background, we purchased a new south facing home in Silverthorne and it's exposed to extreme high altitude sun. We needed 33 blinds to meet our diverse needs and it was going to be outrageously expensive to go the conventional route. I investigated purchasing online and it ended up being a substantial savings, but I had no idea who to use for the installation. I called a local property management company and they referred me to The Shade Doctor. The experience I've had with Clark and his partner, Nick was better than I could ever imagine.. They've been prompt, knowledgeable, professional, quick and extremely affordable. Plus, when the roman blinds I ordered for the bedroom didn't work, they consulted with me on the best alternative and even did the measurements (on an extremely high bank of windows) so I could simply call the online blind company and reorder. (Even with this mistake, I still came out way ahead ordering online.) I've been extremely impressed with my experience with The Shade Doctor. and I highly recommend them to anyone! Thanks Clark and Nick for taking such good care of me and saving me a fortune on my window treatments. June 26, 2019: this is an update to my previous review. I'm even more impressed with Clark and Nick! They came out to finish the install once my replacement roman shades came in. First of all, these replacement shades were re-made in an unusual manner and a big metal tube at the top prevented Clark from being able to install the "L" brackets. After getting no help from the online customer support, Clark, instead of telling me that they simply couldn't be installed, disassembled the entire three blinds (and these are huge blinds no less!), taking the metal tube out, drilling the bracket in and putting the whole shade back together. Then, after the shades were installed, because of a corner window issue, there's a huge gap because of the two intersecting valences (hard to explain, but bottom line, it looked ridiculous and about 4" of light was coming through). I couldn't see any solution whatsoever and was about to chalk it up to a very costly mistake.. Clark, pondered for a few minutes and came up with a solution. It turns out his mother had a custom drapery business and not only does Clark know how to fix blinds, but he also knows how to sew. He took the blind home, cut off a portion of the metal tube and cut out a notch in the top of the blind and sewed it back together so that one corner butts up to the other and the shades themselves won't be compromised by the valences. I was a bit skeptical, thinking "how in the world is this going to look okay?" Well, Clark came by today and installed the retrofitted blind and it looks absolutely amazing!!! He salvaged what I thought was a very costly mistake and the window treatments went from looking ridiculous to looking great. Clark is also looking into a way to motorize the huge solar shades in my living room, telling me that worse case, he can order new tubes to fit a larger motor. My project has been a nightmare for them, but Clark and Nick are always cheerful and willing and they get the job done in a quick and efficient manner. This was the second time we had to ask them to come. One of our guests jerked the blind chords and hurt the mechanisms, after we had them repaired the first time. They were awfully busy, but made time for us and did their great job again. They were masked the first time they came, but we were not there the second. I needed to have a Hunter Douglas top-down-bottom-up blind repaired as the mechanism had failed. The Shade Doctor was recommended by an individual I had used previously (he was booked for several weeks). At first call, I was not able to get directly in touch with the owner of the business, but he responded promptly. I had already removed the device so I could drop it by his business. He informed me that the part I likely needed was no longer being manufactured but he was trying to obtain as many as he could. He was obviously successful since a few days later the blind was ready. I reinstalled it and now have a Hunter Douglas blind that works like new. Kudos all the way around! The only thing that was curious to me was I thought his labor would cost more. I mean, the guy hardly charged anything for the effort he went through; I think he felt bad that the part was rather pricey; but hey, it's Hunter Douglas and it's 11 years old and cheaper than getting a whole new window blind. Recommended? Heck yes!! These guys are great. read more
