THE SHAFT SHOP IS A RIPOFF!!!! 3/3/25 I contacted the shaft shop and spoke with Mike letting them know I needed a new carrier bearing and u-joint replaced. Mikes quote was $600 for the service and said he would only charge me $450. Right off the bat I felt this was drastically overpriced but I was desperate to get my truck running again and nothing else was local. Mind you carrier bearings are $30 and u joints are $15 average online. I took a chance with them and proceeded. 3/4/25 mike calls me and assured me the driveshaft would be ready for pickup later that day and they would still be present at the shop. I arrived at 4:20 pm and to my surprise the shop was closed. After sitting around for about 30 minutes trying to get in contact with Mike he finally answered and said his mechanics were not answering the phones and the shop shouldn't have been closed. For the inconvenience Mike said the service would be free of charge since it was only a carrier bearing and u-joint! Of course I'm not gonna argue with no charge so I said sounds good and I'll be back the following day. 3/5/25 mike gave me a call early morning and said that the driveshaft was in fact not ready and apologized AGAIN reassuring me it would STILL be free of charge for the inconvenience and said he would make sure they had it ready by the end of day. Well I arrived at 4:30pm and spoke to a Brian in the shop who I'm assuming is the hard laborer of the shop and told him Mike said the service was free. Brian who was confused about what I just said called Mike and said the service would still be $450. Now you can imagine I'm upset so I decided to call Mike back myself and figure out the confusion. Mike claimed on the phone that he in fact NEVER told me the service would be free and proceeded to tell me I owe him $450 for the driveshaft. He also reassured me that he charges $600 and I was "lucky" he is even taking $200 off. Mike also claimed he called me 4 times the day before after I just left the shop due to them being closed and said Brian had just got back to the shop and it was my fault for not answering. Well Mike for 1 sorry I do not talk on the phone while I'm driving across town back home. If there was a missed call I would have gladly retuned the call once I was home. And 2 Mike how was I supposed to go back and pickup the driveshaft if you called me the morning after and notified me the driveshaft still wasn't ready ?????? Make that make sense! The level of unprofessionalism and rudeness expressed by Mike was enough for me to feel it's necessary to share this experience. I do not recommend anyone deal with this shop and i definitely will not be returning for further service. A word of advice MIKE don't tell someone something is free of charge and then demand the payment after giving them the run around! Luckily I'm a nice guy and didn't want to give Brian any more problems or I would have taken off with my driveshaft FREE OF CHARGE AS MIKE STATED ! WHAT A JOKE ! read more

I called and explained what I wanted over the phone and was quoted a price. I asked do I just take you the drive shaft and Mike told me if you can drive the truck down that's even better I'll waive the (something something) fee for you. The next day I drop off the truck, again explain what I want done and the price I was quoted. The guy at the shop said sure no problem we will take a look at it and then give you a call before we start any work on it. I get a call back from Mike and now I am being quoted three times the original price. I try to pick up my truck and the driveshaft is already out and I'm being told I have to pay a diagnostic fee (Something that was never disclosed upfront). The center bearing they were now recommending to replace wasn't confirmed damaged just assumed and recommended to be replaced at the same time to ensure things worked out properly. I feel like this is something they could have told me just by looking at the truck and being transparent upfront rather than pulling a bait and switch. read more

Incredibly rude, quoted 300$ for balancing a 2 piece driveshaft, then owner said...I have a 60k balancer and someone has to pay for it! And stated "you can ask all day if the price is right " it is what it is! Then hung up on me. Called Monrovia driveshaft... 90$ for balance and incredibly friendly.... We brought a classic car to get some much needed work done. While we had agreed on a set price (everything included), the price kept increasing because of supplemental work, which was already an issue. After several months of waiting, the car could not be completed, so we finally agreed on a price. Most damaging of all, the car lost a wheel on the drive back. Having almost caused a collision on a packed intersection was stressful to say the least, though luckily no one was injured. When asked about it, the shop insisted they did not touch the wheels, and refused to pay for damages. Glad others have gotten better service here, but it's a hard pass for me. read more

Where to start... Mike, the owner, is a true car professional. And continued looking for the best parts for my truck at a very reasonable price. Initially, he came to my house to look at my 71 Ford F100, since then I just let him take the reins and he with his outstanding team did a phenomenal job restoring my truck. They understood the sentimental value that my family and I have in the vehicle and as they considered our wants and needs they produced a beautiful product. I am happy with my decision and the end result. Danny is a mechanical wizard and long time friend that took extra care of the electrical wiring which I greatly appreciate. Awesome dude! My husband and I were under the impression this was a legitimate business. I purchased a 1990 Ford F150 Larit 4x4 I steering column inoperable, brakes inoperable, oversized gas tank that did not register the proper amount of gas. This man Mike is very dishonest I have not found out his last name but I will be suing him. I almost lost my life I barley made it home with \my life. I called Mike to inform him and he picked up the truck the following day. We discuss the remedy and decided on a refund. When my wife and I returned on Monday as agreed he tried to keep $400. out of our $1000. deposit. Do not do business with this shop they are complete crooks. Everyone was booked way out and didn't have the time to take in an emergency fix. When I called the Shaft Shop, Mike was so kind and willing to take a look and see what he could do and figure out. The quality control at this business is not good. I took my drive shaft there to be refurbished and was told it would be just like new after the work was complete. The owner installed the wrong bearings. Claimed the other shaft got my expensive parts and I got his cheap parts. Hmmmmm I wonder how many vintage drive shafts came in that day?? Took it back for the correct ones. I requested the part be wired brushed to remove dirt build up so it would look like 'new'. That never happened so I'll do it myself. I told him not to paint the part...I'll do it myself. The Shaft shop effort was not worth the $375 I paid. read more

I was recommended to the shaft shop from Tony at AV transmission. They balanced my driveshaft on my 2006 Dodge 2500 and it hasn't run that smooth in years. I hope one day the owner Mike will learn to respect himself so that he can respect people who are giving him business and care about the work he does. We had to take our vehicle back 3 times because there kept being issue with the breaks. 1st time barely made it down the street and had to turn around. This last time he was to bring our vehicle back to our home. Well Wednesday passed, that's didn't happen so it was set up for Thursday. My husband is calling Thursday to reconfirm the time when Mike states he can't get to it. Besides the numerous amount of times we had to call when we had to get our car there again, mind you we had to arrange a tow because we could it drive it, this guy then flakes on his agreement. He should have arranged the tow, have some common sense and courtesy. He's put us in a bind so often with having to arrange pick ups and drop offs. While driving my daughters on the way to a car show and my husband following on our motorcycle, the car the breaks went out and we got stranded on the highway. I can't imagine this guy being any type of family man, definitely NOT a stand up dude for sure. You can never get a hold of him on the phone, he is rarely at the shop and his communication is pathetic. I'd be ever embarrassed of myself if I did something like this to a family who gave me business. At least make it right somehow, throw in a gas card when we go aaaaagain for pick up after you flake on us. read more

These guys are great! Fixed (re-tubed) and balanced a drive shaft for us. They also had to cut and weld a new pinion yoke onto this thing and the work was quality and their prices were very fair. Mike was excellent. My 2000 Maxima had been down for over two years. Because I had spent so much on troubleshooting it I was not ready to junk it. The car is extremely nice. Alter talking with Mike I knew if anyone could fix it, he could. And he even said it's probably something very simple. Sure enough he found it and it was.
