I had my pick of companies and did a lot of research, literally agents begging for my listings. One property was going to be an easy sell, nice home, good condition. The other home was in need of some repairs. Things started out well, good communication and such. What can I say, Shannon rocks. After nearly a year with another realtor in LA who had to be chased down, was never available, never sent new properties and on rare occasion actually showed up to show houses (as opposed to telling us to just go to open houses) seemed as if he was more interested in evaluating properties for his own side business flipping homes, Shannon was a welcome reprieve. My girl and I are both extremely busy professionals with very little free time and Shannon made the whole process easy for us. I did not work with Shannon Jones, but I did interview her. Her first words when entering our condo were "This is.......cute." The minute she said that I knew she was not the one. I was surprised by the way she conducted herself because I have read nothing but good things about her online. We sat down and went over all the updates we had done and were going to complete before listing our condo. We were not even looking for profit but instead to just sell it free and clear. She expressed to us that we were not going to be able to get what we owed and that we should just short sell it. She also ensured us that short selling would NOT affect us buying another property (Which is not true). She said that the comps were not good and she couldn't list our place for more just because it was decorated nicely. She also told us she handles A LOT of short sales so she knows what she is doing. She also told us: 1. She doesn't do her own open houses and probably wouldn't do one for us because we wouldn't get a good response. 2. She doesn't do her own showings So what will you be doing for us then? She seemed very uninterested and did not see the potential we could get. We thanked her and continued to interview. We met with Christy Di Leo from Coldwater Banker. She immediately saw the potential saying that our place was great and could be sold for well over what we owed. We told her about the upgrades we were going to do and suggested we only do a few and stage it well to get what we could. She handles her own open houses and showings and is the one person working to sell our place. We trusted her, like her energy and decided to go with her. Long story short, she pulled the right comps, listed it at over $20K than we owed and sold our place at full asking price within 2 weeks. The appraiser came through at our asking price as well. We were so lucky we chose to go with someone who believed in our property and was willing to put in the work necessary to sell it. Shannon Jones may be a top seller in Long Beach but I wonder if she only sells a lot because she lies to clients about short sales. Telling your potential clients that the only way a property is going to sell is to short sell without looking for the silver lining left her with a lost sale and two very unimpressed potential clients.
