Took a pair of red wing 10877 to get re-soled. Chose this place based on the reviews. Picked up my boots and within a week sole started to fall apart. Took them back and the gentleman said he can fix it. Second time sole started to fall apart again. Decided to take them back to red wing and get a second opinion to see what was wrong. Problem was these types of boots have stitching that attaches to the sole as well. Champ shoe repair was only gluing my soles to the boots and not stitching them back properly. I found this place on yelp. It has great reviews so I figured I'd give them a try. I dropped my shoes off at the beginning of May, the owner said it would cost $75 for steam clean and polish. To me that seemed high, but I paid them and left my shoes. I came to pick them up May 12th, the white soles were clean, but the shoe was not polished. I took it to the Beverly Center Prada store and they told me it would take 3-18 weeks since they need to send it to New York (the only repair center in the U.S.) so I started yelping shoe and handbag repair shops. In December I took my Colehan boots in because the front outsoles came unglued and the heels needed replacing. Owner's son helped and said he would glue them. I wore them twice since the repair and the outsole began to chip away. I went back greeted by the owner and his wife while the son was at the rear working. I Explained the repair. Owner said I would have to replace the entire outsole because obviously the boot deteriorated because of age and that it would be $140. My issue is that outsole was not an issue I know the glue ate up the outsole. Additional the son did not tell me or give me the option to replace the outsole because again the outsole was not the issue - it was simply gluing the top cap to outsole. I should have been given that option in December not after the fact I had spent $60 for the gluing and replacement of heels. My other concern is the son did not bother coming up to the front and rebut or explain why he didn't give the option. He listened while his father explain almost like he knew he took my money. The outsole was fine when I took them these are Colehan not Payless. It was upsetting With all the great business they have it wouldn't have cost them but to lose a customer and get this poor review. I brought in a leather pouch that attaches in my briefcase for my iPhone. The way the Velcro was sewn on originally by the manufacturer, it did not accommodate my phone size. I brought in a $250 pair of Blundstones because this was the only place that said they could clean it. I should have known better because none of the other shoe places I called said they could do it but I drove 45 minutes one way to drop these off based on the stellar Yelp reviews. As you can see from the pictures, my shoes lost their color/texture and I was incredibly disappointed. I wish they were upfront like the other shoe cleaning stores and said from the start they could not clean it without discoloring it and changing the texture. That would have saved me time and money. But the worse part is that Sam's lack of professionalism made the whole experience very cringey and uncomfortable. I dropped my shoes off on a Monday and said I would pick them up on Saturday. I gave Sam $40 as a "down payment" and agreed to pay the other $55 when I came to pick it up. He then texted me on Wednesday asking me if I could Cashapp him the rest of the balance right away, since both pairs of shoes I dropped off were cleaned by then and he sent me pictures. I pointed out that the Blundstones were significantly lighter than when I dropped them off. To which he said he could add mink oil to darken it. I said that's fine. Then he said he would charge $10 extra. To fix the mistake he made. Umm sure, I'll pay you $10 more in order to restore the color of my shoes back to what they were when I first brought them in.... I gave his message a thumbs up as you can see from the screenshot. Then he asked me if I had Cashapp and if I could send him the rest of the money right away since he was going through "hard times." I was honestly confused. I'm a first time customer and the shoes weren't even cleaned to my satisfaction. And I had told him upfront I'd pay the rest when I came to pick them up. I said I'd feel more comfortable paying the balance when I picked up the shoes. To which he passive-aggressively replied "I guess my pictures are no good" When I went to pick them up on Saturday I was even more disappointed. The texture of the shoes are different and rough, like he took sandpaper and just scrubbed it out. The original stain on the shoes were still there. And it wasn't any darker than in the pictures Sam sent me on Wednesday. I paid the balance to Sam's parents (Sam wasn't there) and took the shoes and left. Thinking back on it, I believe that Sam cut some corners and quickly did my shoes because he needed the money right away. He didn't put the effort needed to treat my shoes properly and that is why it looks the way it does now. Two stars because Sam and his parents seemed like nice people. Also they washed my sneakers just fine. Just didn't do the job I was hoping for on my Blundstones. I told him on Wednesday 9/20 that I'd pick up the shoes on Saturday 9/23. Not only that, I told him on Monday 9/18 (when I dropped off the shoes) that I'd pick them up on Saturday 9/23. The problem was Sam prematurely thought he had finished the job in hopes of me Cashapping him the balance right away. So yes. My mistake. I assumed that the shoes would have been done on Saturday 9/23. Why would I make such an assumption? This shop is run by a very sweet Asian couple. I needed a pair of rhinestone heels adjusted. The strap and buckle around my ankle did not have holes to make it tight enough. They removed a few rows of the original rhinestone, refinished the strap, and added multiple holes for me to adjust. I am very happy with how my shoes look and fit now. They only charged me $16! Do not reach out in yelp for a quote, go directly into the location. The man (Sam K.) running the Yelp is rude and provides misleading quotes/poor feedback. As you can see from other comments below, he not only doesn't know how to use the quote feature in yelp (quoting multiple people, including myself $123k flat rate), but also is disrespectful in general. I removed my other comment/rating because I realized my mistake, HOWEVER his actions/the way he speaks to people are still a 1-star to me. The older GENTLEMAN actually doing the work in shop is incredibly sweet and can help immediately with your request. They were not able to help me with my needs (replacing a zipper on a backpack nor fixing a tear of the zipper on my golf bag) so I cannot account for their work/quality, but they shouldn't lose business because the person running their yelp has no clue how to interact with people with grace. I'm so glad I brought my shoes here to be fixed! I had two pairs that needed repairs, one a pretty standard fix for most cobblers - the plastic/rubber tip on bottom of high heel had cracked in half due to age and needed replacement. I brought both the right and left in to have replaced so they matched. Very reasonable charge and a great job! They are well balanced and hand-shaped nicely on both. My second pair of shoes I wasn't sure could be fixed. They were a nearly $200 pair of SAS brand T-strap handmade leather sandals that the leather toe posts had fallen apart on after nearly 3 years of almost constant wear (I love these shoes as you can see in the photos, and other than the break in the leather toe post, they are still perfectly comfortable and look good once my foot hides the footbed lol). Kim, the owner, took one look at them, played with the buckle toe-strap the post was attached too and how it was assembled into the footbed and was slightly skeptical about being able to fix it, but said he would try...for $30 I was totally willing for him to try because I love these shoes so much. He told me to come back in a week. One week later and both my shoes were waiting for me - FIXED!! The pink heels he fixed looked great, and were hand shaped. They are balanced and feel great. The real test though were my SAS shoes...and Kim delivered! He hand made new leather posts and stitched them JUST like the originals were handmade and was able to reattach them to the original gold polkadot buckle beautifully! Can't even tell he opened my shoes up to run the post all the way through the footbed. Beautiful work! I slipped these on right in front of him and they feel just like new! I was so happy I high fived him. His beaming smile at how pleased I was made my day even better. He takes pride in his work and loves to see his customers happy. He was a joy to do business with.
