Horrible service and experience. I love going to Jiffy Lube for the convenience, quality, and car but this specific location is far from it. I was visiting my parents and my car battery was acting up. So my step dad wanted to get it fixed before I drove two and half hours home to Merced. I called ahead to see if they could change my car battery with the one I just bought, they shared that they could change the battery but store policy is that they would need to use their battery. While on the phone I confirm that they had my car battery, the person said yes. Confirmed the car and that my car is a hybrid and so it also needs a car scan after switching the batteries with them and they asked some near then confirmed that they would do the car scan. From this, I returned the battery I just purchased at O'reilly and went to this jiffy lube for service. It started off well and then they pulled out the battery with was much bigger in size, specifically longer than my current battery. I let them know that the battery looks a bigger to me and questioned if it was the right one, they said it was and the car has two different batteries listed as compatible. I signed off on it based on that. Shortly after I sat down, they called another employee over about the product number being different on the computer screen and the other person said it would be fine and that it's not checked. I watched them try to change my battery. My car is a hybrid meaning my battery is in the trunk. There is a small panel to access the terminals (I.e to test or jump) but to change the battery you have to remove the two panels to do so. They literally tried to change the battery through the small panel. Eventually they loosen one panel and pulled and shoved the batteries through there. During checkout, I attempted to confirm they did a car scan afterwards and the associate looked at me confused. So I explained that it needs a car scan afterwards for the cars computer, he then told me that the car turned on fine and that it wasn't needed. I then asked once more if it was done or not and he said yeah. I paid and left. Once at my parents I opened my trunk to put my stuff away to find the secure bracket just in the middle of my trunk and the installed battery tilted up and the strap not buckled. Intensely not secured or safe. I immediately went back and luckily it was Ty e manager who noticed that I was just there and asked what was wrong. I showed him the bracket in my hand and he said oh shoot and we checked the battery in the trunk together. He explained that it was the wrong size and that it can sit securely there because the bracket is off by more than two inches (no duh)... he then shared that he doesn't have it in stock and that the best he could do was Monday. I shared I was visiting and live in Merced. He then went inside to "see what he could do". He said he emailed the Jiffy Lube in Merced( which is the one I love and trust going to) and that it would just be a 1:1 trade, so I could just get it switched out. He then said he would also give them a call. My step dad worries about the safety of me driving the car asked if it's safe for me to drive a long distance with the battery that size and tilted. Manager said it would be fine and I drove to Merced. In Merced, they did not receive any email or phone call and the Santa Cruz Manager did not check about the franchise vs National store policy. Meaning he sent me to a store that I could not do the switch. Luckily the Jiffy Lube in Merced is way better and nicer, they switched the battery for me. It was also significantly cheaper than the SC price ($30 difference) as well as they gave a discount for my trouble. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get a refund from the Santa Cruz location and how/when I can take this wrong car battery back to Santa Cruz. For Santa Cruz, they have horrible service, and management needs to clean up their issues and be more knowledgeable and responsible. read more

I am appalled by the practices of this location. My mom came in for a simple oil change on her old Prius and left with a $200+ bill. They offered to replace her windshield wipers for $30, and then charged her $30 for EACH SIDE. My mom is a stage 4 cancer patient who lives off of disability. Would give 0 stars if I could. Every single thing they said they would fix, ended up less than a week later being a huge problem. I went in on 8/5 for an oil change and by 8/8 my car was having major issues. I will never be going back. I don't trust them to even fix the mistakes they made. They would just make it worse. I listed out the services they said they would provide and what went wrong below. 1. I went in for an oil change. Well, they didn't put the oil cap back on right so once I started driving around, my car started leaking oil. Making a horrible smell and oils has sprayed out and caused the serpentine belt to loosen and shake. 2. They said they were going to do a radiator flush and add coolant. Well, they maybe did the flush but they didn't refill the coolant so I had to go out and buy new coolant and replace it myself. 3. They didn't even replace the cap to the windshield wiper fluid. So while I was driving, it spilled out and made me think my car was breaking down because of "smoke". I spent an hour in the median of the freeway terrified for my life. I wish I had read reviews before going here. It seems like this is a common occurrence. Horrible horrible service. I paid $200 for my service and was literally the biggest waste of money. I went in for an oil change. They serviced my car with the most expensive package (about $140). About a week later I check out my oil and see that the oil cap hasn't even been opened in months (since my last oil change at Oil Stop). The oil was black and very dirty. It was clear they did not even change my oil, only replaced the filter. Now, my car is also leaking oil, which they did not catch during their inspection. They also assured me that they filled my wiper fluid but it is also empty. The customer service was not good. Did not offer me any sort of understanding or apology when I let them know about my experience. If you take your car here, check to ensure that they did the services you paid for. They will probably scam you if they think you're not gonna check their work. I'll be contacting them in hopes of a refund. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Clearly Jiffy Lube has no competency standards for hiring. I brought my car for an oil change and 2 days later it started smoking under the hood. I brought it to an auto mechanic who said that it looked like a bomb had gone off under the hood. He said someone had overfilled the coolant AND the oil reservoir and there was oil mixed into the cooling system. Ended up costing 4K in repairs. These guys aren't just unprofessional, they're dangerous. I took my daughter's SUV here for an oil change. Later that same day, my daughter was driving and her car started surging and jerking. She pulled over and had it towed to a local auto shop. It turned out the Jiffy Lube tech didn't latch the air filter cover and the intake hose was loose from the throttle body. They also hadn't replaced the filter, which was very dirty. I contacted the manager, David, who was rude and condescending. I asked for his manager's name and contact information. David would only say that his manager's name was Saul, and he refused to give me Saul's contact info, because "he was in charge". I asked to have Saul contact me directly. To date, I have not heard from Saul. We were very lucky my daughter wasn't driving Hecker Pass (which she does regularly), and I am grateful that Jiffy Lube did such a terrible job that it was caught quickly and no one was hurt. I would not trust David and his team with my family's vehicles again. Stay away. read more

I use to come here and was satisfied with the service. However, my most recent visit was met with fiasco. I left with an oil leak that did not exist when I got there. I went back to have it dealt with. Although their manager is nice, their workers are a bunch of punks. I was met with bad attitudes and was told the manager wasn't there after I had just spoken with him on the phone and he said he would be there. I told them this is the last time I'd ever come there and the whole "gang" said, "good", as they flashed their little gestures. Nobody else was around to witness this and they took full advantage. My grandson was visiting here from out of state and needed to get an oil change on a Sunday before leaving for home early on Monday. Jiffy Lube on Soquel Ave is one of only two places open on Sunday. I've always had good service at Jiffy Lubes in other areas, but recent Yelp reviews weren't very good for this one. I called and spoke with Roman, who explained the various levels of service they provide and we went. Started off a bit shaky as the other fellow in the office was curt and rushed in taking the order. Later Roman came out to give us a very thorough explanation about the various types of oil they offer and how each one is best for a specific purpose/engine type. He also described Jiffy Lube's policies of free fluids top offs between regular services and free oil top offs within 3000 miles. Roman is very passionate about his business. When I mentioned the poor reviews, he explained that most of the former employees have been replaced and he was brought in from another store a couple of months ago to get things back in shape. I highly recommend this Jiffy Lube location as long as Roman is in charge. read more

I got an oil change a few months ago here and they forgot to put an o ring on my filter. I drove about 60 miles and lost 3/4 of my oil which I can only assume did at least some long term damage to my engine. They came out to my house to put a new one on and said I had two free oil changes to repay me for the potential damage. I just went in for an oil change and they said I was "deleted" from the system for an unknown reason. The guy that forgot to put my o ring in was there and remembered me but only said I could get a 30 dollar one time discount on a $160 oil change. The manager said the same thing. I will never get an oil change from jiffy lube again and will not be recommending them to anyone. If I ever hear someone say they're going to jiffy lube I will try to convince them to go elsewhere. Dude must have been having a bad day. Was pretty difficult to work with - pretty similar to the experience you get with retail workers post-pandemic. And I worked retail for 10 years including the pandemic... Jacob (the guy I worked with) made it incredibly difficult and kind of awkward / aggro when I showed him an online coupon for an oil change. He made me keep looking for different coupons because their store wouldn't honor them. Finally, I went in with my tire pressure being equal on all tires. If I could leave a zero star review, I would. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HEED MY WARNING AND AVOID THIS JIFFY LUBE LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. If you don't believe me, just check out all of the other one star reviews... Here is my complaint I submitted through Jiffy Lube's online portal (with certain personal information redacted for Yelp): "I brought in my 2004 Ford Ranger to the Soquel Service Center (2334) for a "Signature Service Oil Change". According to the staff, all fluid levels were checked - I double checked with Jacob, who was assisting me at the front desk to confirm that the transmission fluid was filled and in good condition and he assured me that it was. The next day I drove roughly 300 miles away for an event where my car was parked until I left on Sunday, where I then drove roughly 30 miles before my transmission failed. Upon talking to the mechanic who is now installing a "scrapyard" transmission - he informed me that there was little to no transmission fluid in the vehicle and the little bit of fluid that was there was unacceptable. Essentially, the mechanic informed me that the transmission ultimately failed due to too little transmission fluid and that the transmission fluid left in the vehicle was "cooked". The mechanic servicing my vehicle let me know that there is no possible way that "perfectly good" transmission fluid could become this bad after a 300 mile drive - which leads me to believe that my transmission fluid levels and quality was never actually checked by the Jiffy Lube technicians.I returned today (4/19/24) to reprint an invoice and talk to the technicians on duty. James helped me at the front desk and I informed him of the situation. Jacob returned to the front desk and re-iterated that he personally "checked my transmission fluid" and that everything looked fine during service." After submitting this complaint through the official Jiffy Lube corporate online portal, this location's franchisee (David Beltran) reached out to me directly and stated "...we would not be able to help him out with his transmission issue, the service provided by us was just a signature service and had nothing to do with his transmission. (Nick) is trying to say that just because we checked the level at the time of the service back on 4/11 and check off that it was okay at that time, that cause his transmission to have problems hundreds of miles later." Please keep in mind that "transmission fluid" checks are a key part of Jiffy Lube's "Signature Oil Change Service". I've had two trusted, independent mechanics tell me that the transmission failed directly due to lack of transmission fluid and both mechanics placed blame on the negligence associated with my recent Jiffy Lube service. I have given Jiffy Lube the ability to help reimburse the damages incurred, but have been met with nothing short of profound unprofessionalism and a total lack of basic accountability. Not only would David Beltran not provide information regarding his contact information, but he was also unwilling to provide me with contact information with any other point of contact through Jiffy Lube corporate. The icing on the cake was David's extremely demeaning tone of voice and overall unprofessionalism over the phone. I've submitted a claim through the Better Business Bureau and imagine I might need to take this case to small claims court in order to ever have any of the associated damages incurred reimbursed by Jiffy Lube. This entire experience has been incredibly time-consuming, expensive and mind-numbingly stressful - let me reiterate, AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. read more

Jiffy Lube - The "perfectly fine" transmission fluid in question. - Auto Repair Near Me - Santa Cruz, California

I wish I had read all the terrible reviews before going here. Lesson learned. Never again. It was quick. That's about all I can say. Waiting with no one acknowledging my presence for some time. They asked for my keys and walked away ... no paperwork, quote, etc. Finished oil change and they brought out my interior cabin air filter and said they wanted to change it. This means they went through and took everything out of my glove box - basically, went through my personal things to pull something out of my car that I did't authorize them to do. They also pulled my car air filter ... I had a brand new one sitting on my back seat already. So, I had topped up my tires a couple days prior to 35-36 psi. After the oil change they said they topped up my tires. Huh? The following day my air pressure alarm came on in my car. They didn't look low. But I checked. Three tires had been overinflated to 42 psi and each of these three had the air nozzle cap barely screwed back on. I was amazed they hadn't fallen off. The third tire, which had the air cap fully tightened had 35psi. So they checked only 3 tires, overinflated them, and didn't screw the caps back down. Seriously? Now that I'm writing this, I think I better go check the oil level to make sure they put enough in. Incompetence, invasion of privacy, and pulling things out of my car that I didn't request. Nope. My girlfriend had an oil change before taking her mom to SJC Airport. She couldn't make it back over the hill without something coming loose and her oil leaking out on the 17. Jiffy Lube reimbursed us for everything including the tow truck. The payment was made on my girlfriend's mom's credit card which we could not provide while she was IN THE AIR. There is something wrong with the workers because they could not understand that we couldn't provide the card info. WE CANT GET THE NUMBERS OK WE CANT SET UP APPLE PAY?!? No there wasn't a language barrier. It is like the only person capable of thinking a logical thought was the manager. If you take the risk they will reimburse you but I would not take the risk because this has been such a hassle. I feel like there is nothing more Jiffy Lube can do for me, but I will never be a customer there EVER again. Update: we got a second opinion and the motor is fucked. The entire engine needs to be replaced all because the workers at jiffy lube couldn't tighten a little plug. They lied. We are going to take legal action if this is not fixed. Update: Jiffy Lube has caused $7,400 worth of damage and the car is essentially totaled as this costs more than the car itself. Thanks Jiffy Lube! Terrible! Can't trust them. Engine light went on 2 weeks after service. Car began stalling. My mechanic said oil was over filled and they used wrong oil. They did a new oil change and that fixed the problem. Jiffy lube will not refund my money even with documentation that it was oil change that created my problem. They also didn't perform services such as wash windows or vacuum. I also had to return to get sticker on windshield they didn't put on. I'd give negative star if possible. GO TO SANTA CRUZ TIRE AND AUTO. They were awesome with diagnostics and saving me money and same price. read more

Not a place I'll return to. We showed up at 12:10 and all workers were just lounging around. We were informed that the manager was on lunch and that we'd need to come back in 20 min. He happened to be around and offered us $25 off an oil change and air filter change. This all took about 15 min, but then when we picked up the car my husband went to pay and didn't notice that the discount wasn't applied and then when we got my sticker to tell us when to come back... it said to come bad at 123k... my car went in with 171k. I am really disappointed in this place. I started going here years ago, and was more than willing to pay a premium for a chain because they are consistent and always provide the services they say they do. Check my fluids and top them off if needed, put air in my tires if needed, and even vacuum my floor. I change my oil every 3000 miles and always come to this location. The last four or five times, I noticed that my fluids were lower than they should've been given that I just went to Jiffy Lube. I always meant to take note, but never did because I forgot. This time when I went. I took note of all levels and service before leaving so that I could confirm what was being done or not being done. This time I dropped off my car and waited for them to complete my service. After about a half hour which is typical they were done. When I got home I made sure I checked everything related to the receipt that they gave me. The air pressure in my tires was completely inconsistent, I was completely empty on windshield fluid even though on the receipt they said they added it, they said they checked my lights, but I had a headlight out, my coolant was dangerously low, and they said that I declined to vacuum my floors even though no one had bothered to ask me. It seems like over the last year this staff has grown completely uncaring about their customer base. I always came here and paid a little more because of the service, but if there's no service, I'm never coming back. I'm really sad that they let it get to this point. read more

Don't trust them to check any levels. For my previous oil change, they didn't check the washer fluid level (it was completely empty before the service, and after the service too). This time, they didn't check the tire pressure: the front left tire was reporting low air when I brought it in; after the service, it was still reporting low air and when we checked it, it was 28 instead of 35. Clearly they didn't check the air at all. Pretty sure none of the other levels were checked. I hope they actually changed the oil but who knows? read more
