I haven't been to this mall in forever. I made my return after almost 20 years probably. I didn't realize how small it was! It's two stories but the stores and the mall itself probably need somewhat of a modern upgrade. It was very quiet on a Friday night. I bought some items from Bloomingdale's and they were all friendly. I will say some shops are upscale and the mall itself is quiet and located on a busy street with lots of restaurants and entertainment.

Very nice but very limited. Higher end. A quick shopping experience at The Shops. It's definitely a higher-end mall and does not have a huge number of shops. The shops they do have, I would say that they cater to a bigger budget than I would usually spend. Bloomingdale's, Brooks Brothers, Apple, Crate & Barrel, Kate Spade, Sephora. Great shops, definitely. The mall is clean, is well lit, is well occupied and is a pleasant shopping experience.

    How about this little chestnut

For Xmas shopping, I prefer the shops at Chipmunk Hill because they sing carols to me in high-pitched voices. But nobody sang carols like the Carpenters, not even Carol King. I believe that all carols were written by Lewis Carol. But I've been wrong before. This is an extremely, extraordinarily, shockingly expensive mall, but then aren't most malls these days? However, this one is so pricey that I can't bring myself to give it 5 stars. Otherwise, I absolutely would. Partly because it's gorgeous, and in a lovely part of town, and a well-designed mall on a hill that overlooks the area and is easy-ish to get to (though not close enough to the highway for convenience). It is, though, right on a high-speed East-West main road and that helps. There are a small selection of stores, not like a mega-mall, but it's a lot of high-end and exciting stores that rich folk and nearly rich folk and someday-rich-but-window-shopping folk, will enjoy. In other words, everyone in America and tourists too. But the main reason I give TSACH (I love making acronyms, and I heard that YLMA too) a 5-star-minus-1-for-prices, is that it is the only location on earth - other than Dartmouth University, no less - where there is a Morano Gelato. And Morano Gelato, in case you didn't know, is probably the best gelato outside Italy, and certainly outside Europe, that has ever been created or tasted. It's just that damn good. And I mean pretty much all the flavours. And when you have a gem like that (which is the only reason I keep coming to this mall), then the mall itself deserves a high rating. So I hope you enjoyed that little chestnut.

A sexist mall, oh yeah..... Given that my brother probably likes to shop more than I do, and we were there for over an hour trying to take full advantage of that no tax on clothes/shoes deal, there were only TWO stores for men: Lucky Brand and Bloomies men. But score for the women!!!!! Not only is this small, pristine, uppity mall one of the most beautiful ones that I've ever been to, but the fresh flower displays, lighting, furniture, and cleanliness, as well as the nice upper-scale boutiques and department stores would definitely keep a female shopper occupied for hours. It's small.... read that again....but it's definitely highfalutin' scootin' here. examples: Cusp by Neiman M., Coach, BCBG, Eileen Fischer, J Jill, Bloomies, Crate and Barrel.... Great coffee at the cafe across from Charley's steakhouse--Cafe Vanille PS An APPLE store here; we tried to buy my Dad an iPad2 (6.25% tax is pretteeeee attractive), but the 3Gs + wifi were all sold out... no dice, Dad!

15 minutes to pay. They only had 1 cashier. It was 2 minutes to check out next door at Uniqlo

Bloomingdale's has added a casual small restaurant called Forty Carrots which I've been told is really good.

I was really hoping for a warm and supportive experience at Anthropologie Weddings in Chestnut…read moreHill, especially since I already feel anxious about shopping. Unfortunately, it felt more rushed than I expected. I didn't feel very heard during the appointment, and the overall tone came across as a bit judgmental rather than empathetic. Wedding dress shopping is such a personal experience, and I was hoping for more guidance and reassurance. That said, if you know exactly what you're looking for, they do have a decent amount of options. For someone who doesn't love shopping, though, it ended up feeling more stressful than special.

Despite nearly three weeks advance time, she was notified two days before the appointment that several of her selections weren't available. For this, and for having only a small part of the online options actually in the store, I'm deducting one star. Aside from that, our experience here was great! Her bridal consultant (Ashley?) walked her through the racks pulling out dresses she thought might work, and listening closely to my daughter's likes and dislikes. She did focus mainly on "bridal" options, but my daughter also picked out a few from the less formal "reception" collection that were viable choices. We liked the wide price ranges to pick from to try on, but we're a bit disappointed that there were more polyester and fewer silk dresses in the mix. We (me, mother of the bride and the maid of honor/sister of the bride) appreciated the offer of prosecco at 10:30am! It was so fun watching the consultant cinch and pin the dresses to give us all a sense of how each dress would look. And of course to begin to imagine our baby in any one of these! After the hour & a half appointment, the bride got only a little pressure to buy, and left with a card listing the 2 dresses she really liked and was still considering. Since the wedding shop is housed within a "regular" Anthropologie, on the way out my elder daughter and I stopped to try on options for us - and we each bought the dress we'll be wearing on the big day! What a fun first wedding dress shopping experience!
