This is a classy store. For the items I shop for, there is a range of options at different prices. They have the brands I want. Everything is nicely displayed, there are staffers on hand to help me find things (it's a big store), and they have a very nice, clean restroom. Prices are good, and there are often sales. I've ordered things online and picked them up, and as well I come to the store to see what they have (they have a variety). Always a good experience shopping here. read more

Bought Evercare, a roller on a stick, with sticky-paper (like fly paper) to collect dust. Avoid!! the manufacturer makes it impossible to peel off the dirty layer and get to a clean one-- literally takes five minutes of prying with fingernail, scissors, etc. Surprised that The Container Store sells such an item. read more

There's so much containers in there store that I have no idea what I need. So I decided to start small and get a display case for my anime figures and a carry box for my tool kits when working on model kits. I think the prices are hit or miss. Some items I felt were too expensive. The staff were very helpful, they made rounds to check in on customers, some were revisited a bit much. Definitely coming back once I measure my room and personal items. Would like to show it to staff and see if I can get ideas on how to organize it better with shelving and such. read more

Great store, the only complaint is actually FINDING the door to get in! Their previous location (next to the old theatre) was so easy... walk right in without walking around thinking "the store directory map shows it is here, so where the **** is the door??!!". The door is in the underhang area, so unless you are actually in that area, you won't see it. Anyhow.... Nicely laid out store (aren't all of their locations this way?), take your time to look around because even if you don't find the storage basket/bin/box of your dreams in the storage section, you might find something in another section (desk organizer, something in laundry, etc). Very nice girl at the register too Besides the odd entrance, only other negative is the ladies restroom, I would just love water and soap to come out without requiring a dance and waving my hands to get it to work (same with the paper towel dispenser). read more

Neat and very tidy, I noticed that they were having a "travel sale" on stuff today and so I checked out the various things to see if it would make my own heavy travel any easier. Suitcases, of course. Squeezy tubes for various liquids that are up to the TSA compliant size. Carabiners for hooking stuff. Wallets and other things for holding travel documents. Small first aid kits. Neat stuff. Of course, the rest of the store is dedicated not just to containers but also closet organizers and kitchen organizers and desk organizers and all sorts of other stuff for getting your stuff organized. And yes, the store is very well organized. My only complaint with the Container Store was trying to find the entrance. You'll find it from inside the parking deck area facing the lake. read more

I really like the container store. I mean if your kitchen drawer, office desk, closet, laundry room etc need help, they have solutions. So definitely recommend on that account. This location is a bit weird, it's in a mall but doesn't have the usual storefront, but rather seems hidden in a covered parking area. That eliminates the easy pickup most have. You have to go up and down elevator or an escalator to get there and back. Just an FYI. I placed an online order and was told it would be ready at 5:15. I get to the store and am told I have to wait for it to be retrieved, totally normal. When I got to the car I noticed not all of items were as advertised online (Aka my reusable lunch flatware was missing pieces and had obviously been opened). I was definitely disappointed in the online site to store shopping experience. The store is highly organized (but very picked through) and staff were friendly, I just didn't like that pickup here was not easy and in fact cost me more time because I had to walk in to return several items that were missing pieces. read more

It's ironic that this place is the prime shopping spot for people who love organizing things because the store is always disorganized with product boxes in the middle of aisles and items not where they are supposed to be. "In stock" it says on the website, but good luck finding it. I LOVE this company, but really dislike going to this store. I'm reviewing this as someone who had never been to The Container Store until a week ago when we arrived as new Boston residents, desperately in need of space-saving organization solutions to help us downsize from a large house to a relatively-small apartment. From that perspective, The Container Store is AWESOME! Our apartment came pre-equipped with the Elfa system, which is really great, but can quickly take all of your money, and feels a bit like an empty purchase unless you're going to have the same system in the future. Regardless, the system is functional, and they've got various price points within the system to make every customer happy, regardless of budget. Their iron folding shelves are great for people that are planning on renting and moving a bit over a few years. No assembly or disassembly required. Simply unbox and unfold. Done. Beware, though...you'll go in with the intention of buying one item and come across 10 things you a) didn't know existed, and b) didn't realize you need. You'll likely leave with all 10, so I wouldn't recommend for tight budgets if this is your first visit to the store. The staff is quick to help, and can point in the right direction quickly. They'll pull your stuff together in a flash and everyone has been nice every time we've gone. The Container Store should be a staple for any apartment/condo dweller. read more

Ordered a few items for an upcoming trip of mine. When I arrived at the store I parked and clicked the "I have arrived at the store" button from my email. They're supposed to bring your things out to you car but I waited for 15 mins and that never happened. The screen, on my phone, never budged from the "processing" state.... Likewise, I walked in and went up to the order pick-up area and was greeted in about a minute. The associate asked what my name was, for my pick-up order, but then was unable to find my order on the computer. I told her I chose the bring to car option and the screen was stuck on processing. Really organized store. I wanted to buy everything lol Only knocked down a star because the entrance was a little confusing to find but other than that, it's a great store. I went there for something specific and couldn't find it. I asked one of the employees for help and he knew exactly where the item was. The person who rung me up was very pleasant as well. I was so excited for this store. I gaze adoringly at the catalog and couldn't wait for the type-A storage nut that I am to get colour coordinated boxes! Why boxes? I don't know! I just NEED boxes! Well, this place just plain sucks, folks. Overpriced, boring as hell, the screaming children will make your uterus spontaniously erupt out of your body and run away in terror, and the lighting burns into my orbs in pain even now. Its more like Staples than a utopia of storage desires. I did enjoy the rainbow display of plastic hangers, but studied it more like I was at MOMA or some pretentious exhibit at the ICA, but everything else left me unimpressed. I prefer IKEA-cheaper, more designs, different levels of cheap to expensive, more malleable and far more pleasant to deal with. Hell, even Kmart or Target is better for your storage needs! If you ever visit one of these places, it is like walking into paradise for the organized. This location is set up pretty nice tucked away behind the Macy's. There is pretty much every single type of storage and container product you could imagine in this store. There is everything from clothing and shoe storage to kitchen, bathroom, entertainment and living room storage. They even have custom designed systems for your closets and garages. Added to this they have all the storage and packing for moving, from boxes to bubble wrap etc. The place is so packed with items it will take you a while to see it all. The customer service is very helpful and there are plenty of staff around to assist. read more

Being the uber-organized gal that I am, I was totally fascinated by the sheer magnitude of the "stuff to put other stuff in." I also lament in the gluttonous way we Americans hoard merchandise (i.e. a tonna crap), but if I must be a hoarder, at least I'll be able to find everything. I recommend pretty much anything, but definitely check out the 'elfa' collection I found the other day. Try the "Pick Up in Store" option. I'm starting to use this more regularly, and it saves so much time and stops you from impulse buying once you're in the store. Just go online to their website, put things in your cart as normal, but choose Pick Up in Store and enter your zip code. It saves on shipping too! Plus a lot of times, they have things in the store that you can't get online or are backordered. The only thing they could improve on is having a waiting area in the store while they are getting your things. read more

LOVE this place - we ordered the Elfa closet solutions for our home. I thought I'd be a smart-face and extend the recommended dimensions to better fit our kitchen pantry. Low-and-behold, when I got it all home, the system was right and I was wrong - bitch wouldn't fit! So, we went back and they were super cool with helping me get all the right sized parts and easily returned the stuff I bought that I'd bungled. Got it all home and 15 minutes later, our closet is actually usable. And, BTW, the Elfa solution is SO much better than the ghetto Home Depot wire shelf crap. Best part is that the employees (both in the store and on the phone) are kind, quick, and intelligent - they're the antonym for Best Buy. read more

I love this place, it makes me feel infinitely more organized and at peace with the world every time I walk in -- simply because I know it's possible to have such a life. Big fan of the container store. We live in a small apartment, so this store was a godsend to us - we were able to organize well and make the best use of the space we have. The bins and containers are excellent. The larger furniture based shelving etc are way overpriced. No question about it - unfinished furniture stores or IKEA are waaaaay cheaper. I have a set of white Elfa shelves set perpendicular to the white Elfa desk I am typing this review on My shelves are decorated with platinum mesh accessories that exactly match the platinum of the Elfa, and coincidentally, my MacBook Pro. You get the drift, I've spent a lot of money here. The store itself is very organized. I've never had to wander around aimlessly trying to find exactly what I needed. There are a ton of helpful people walking around as well, but I prefer to shop on my own. When shopping for the shelving, everything you need is in the same area. It makes it easy to customize exactly what you want and not have to worry about missing pieces. The downside to this perfectly organized place is the cost. The store is in Chestnut Hill, so of course it's targeted to those with a lot of dispensable income. Yes, you can find very similar items at Ikea or Home Depot, but they won't match exactly or look as nice as what you can find here. If you're paying $300 for a set of shelves, obviously appearance is what matters to you, not price. read more

I don't organize well. I start with the best of intentions, but usually things go south pretty quickly. That being said, the Container Store is a bit like the north star; the guide for people like me who try really, really hard to put everything in its right place, but inevitably end up with things strewn here and there without the proper organizational tools. I went here for a set of Elfa shelves and was impressed by the customer service. Given that I'm easily impressed by the slightest ounce of politeness in retail, I was bowled over by the attentiveness and patience of the team here. They also offer complimentary closet design service (online and in house)! Once you agree on a design, you just go in, give them your name, they pull up your design, and they pull everything for your order together and load it into your car for you. As someone who's really organized at heart but totally unorganized in the flesh, this place was a nocturnal emission come true. Good quality and mostly attractive solution for storing EVERYTHING in every way, shape, form, and fold possible. From little boxes with topses to massive shelving units, to cubes this place has everything you need to get your place (and life) organized. Of course it helps if you have a little creativity, but if you lack it you can ask any of the super-friendly (and really, they went out of theeir way to be helpful and nice, it was almost kinda weird) staff members or make an appointment with one of their design consultants. I wish I could be more snarky or crazy on this, but the store was just so utilitarian and awesome that, at the moment, I can't! Great store with a great idea staffed by great people. So I decided that my Christmas present this year would be a new closet system. Love organization...love clothes...love home improvements, it just makes sense. Having friends that have Elfa systems I knew immediately that is what I wanted...and this is just where I got it! One cold snowy morning I grabbed my zipcard and drove my ass out to Chestnut Hill. First, I think that they are spiking the water with something for these associates. They are VERY friendly and helpful, which is not expected after living downtown for too long. There was a great greeter who asked what I was shopping for, found someone to help me, and touched base with me on my way out to make sure I was happy. Second, associates actually care about you as a customer! I was ready to buy the system when I first went out. After we designed the system I was asked if I could wait a week to buy....which I thought odd. It turns out that there was going to be a 30% off sale and the associate wanted me to have the option of waiting and saving money! Thank you... Three stars only, you say? Yes....While the people are friendly I feel like I'm shopping at costco. The store is huge and filled with everything that you never knew you didn't need. It's so hard to not impulse buy here! My husband and I are moving in May so we are starting to get organized and packed. This was our first trip to this particular Container Store - even my husband, who usually hates anything to do with "home" shopping, was gleefully examining all the gadgets and storage solutions they have. I find the staff to be friendly but a little pushy. And it's a little hard to find if you're not coming from the direction of Chestnut Hill Mall - it's kind of in this weird ally of other stores, including a Shaw's, not part of the mall itself. So keep that in mind. But the parking lot was plenty big and free. The prices were better than BB&B, I thought. It's a little far from us so we won't be making frequent trips, which will be good for my wallet - I saw so many things I never knew I needed! read more
