It was the best decision I made for my health, and that's 36 years of being in the dark, ha! I came with specific goals to debloat/regulate my menstruation cycle, heal from the aftermath of two abdominal surgeries, and to better my relationship with food and my body. Having almost completed my 6 months of being under Benny's care and advice, I've not only looked better--my old clothes fit again, I'm sleepy at the right times, I'm radiant, I've gotten rid of the bloat and my cycle is thrivingly on-time--and I feel amazing. She totally personalized my routine to match my doshas, while also continuing to adapt it to my changing work and travel schedule, as well as providing plenty of alternatives or accommodations so that I'm still prioritizing feeling my best. She's always available to chat in-between our meetings, and it's clear she cares so much for her clients. I've never felt rushed, belittled, or shamed for any of my decisions or when parking is hard around this area. She's proven to me that Ayurveda (diet, movement, listening to your body) works, if you follow her recommendations. If it's not working, let her know kindly, because she will definitely find a way that will. I'm grateful she introduced me to a new, softer, and more intuitive way of being and I'm grateful for what I'm blessed with and the possibilities of my body. If you're wondering whether to see her, count it as one of the best investments you can make for your help, with exactly the best person for it.

And because I wasn't moving much, the toll on my mental health was spiraling downward. In less than a year, Benny has helped me out of this pickle by setting up a practical health plan informed by ancient Ayurvedic health practices and easy-to-implement exercise + diet routines. I have lost some weight, gained back some muscle and most importantly, feeling better in my mind. We started with a robust health consultation where we discussed all areas of my life and health history. It was like therapy! From there, Benny made some initial recommendations to address some immediate health concerns like allergies! I started with an Ayurvedic nasal drops and I don't have as nearly as many symptoms since. She also prescribed some Ayurvedic tea to help promote healthier digestion, which it has! I kept a food journal for a couple of weeks and she provided some feedback on what I could consider modifying without totally disrupting the meal plan I have for my family (you know how some diet plans are like, here's lettuce and unseasoned chicken with cayenne pepper lemon water for all of your meals and your kid is like, yeah right). We decided to meet once a week for a 45-minute exercise session to keep me on track. This has helped greatly because without it, I find it hard to get the motivation up on my own. She also gives me exercise plans I can do during the week and so I have a rather low-cost, effective fitness plan (I loathe gyms, so this is something I can do from home). She checks in to give me nudges during the week which I really appreciate because left to my own devices, well, that's just it -- iphone, tv, couch. I am so grateful to have Benny in my life. She has a really calming energy, but don't let that deceive you! just when you think you're going to have it easy, she insists on a minute-long plank and mountain climbers. I highly recommend Benny as a health coach. You'll be glad you have her in your corner.

RN Kaynaz at the Cow Hollow location has been amazing and made me feel so at ease. She didn't rush, and understood the need for lots of ice! I have a low pain tolerance and was grateful she took such great care with pain management. Such a small detail made a huge difference in my comfort level. I went back for my follow up today and my experience was just as great (and I'm so happy with the results!). Kaynaz has a clear dedication towards enhancing natural features and seeing each face as unique. As for the clinic itself, it's super clean, gorgeously designed, and front staff is very welcoming. I've been very happy with my experience so far and highly recommend!

Where to even begin? I LOVE Dr B and his office crew. Dr Bermudez is not only exceptionally skilled…read moreat his craft, his practice is run with an exceptional level of integrity andd transparency. He leans just a bit more conservative and natural in his aesthetic sensibilities vs that average already very conservative and natural approach in the Bay Area and he has a sculptors eye, in addition to being an excellent plastic surgeon he is also an artist and created all of the sculptures adorning his office! I met Dr B when my infant son needed earwells and the wait at UCSF was too long to get in within the recommended treatment window - little did I know what a stroke of luck this was for my family. I'd done my research ahead of time and watched countless videos of earwell treatment (a non surgical ear reshaping procedure for newborns) where a doctor just pops the mold on real quick so that was my expectation. Not Dr B, he took time consulting with me and assessing my son's ears and their symmetry, I think he sensed that I was a little nervous and he told me that he had done his own daughter's earwells which I found very comforting. Then I watched as he very carefully and precisely used the earwell components to sculpt and shape my son's ears into a perfect shape being careful that both sides would come out the same. The level of care and attention that Dr B gave to the procedure was like nothing I'd seen in all my research. Quality was top notch for sure but then his office worked their magic on the billing and I was able to get my son this treatment at no out of pocket cost which was an extremely pleasant surprise. I decided to see Dr Bermudez for injectables when I started noticing some issues that needed a careful eye and Dr B came through for me again. It wasn't my first time getting Botox but I'd never gotten this level of care or patient education. Dr B first talked with me about options for the issue I wanted to address including risks/benefits/long v short term cost - he followed my lead but offered his opinion when asked. Then he took a look at my face and walked me through his thinking as well as a cliffs notes in facial musculature and anatomy. I have never felt so comfortable. The injections were super easy too thanks to his super powerful numbing cream and the results are truly extraordinary. You pay more per unit with Dr B but it is so worth it. Most of my friends get Botox and even so they were shocked to learn that my refreshed look was thanks to the tox too. It just looks like my face reverse aged with none of the telltale frozen cheer mom look, IYKYK. I will never let anyone else touch my face with injectables again. Finally, when I first went to see Dr B I read his reviews and saw folks mentioning bringing their family members to Dr Bermudez and I admit I thought that was weird but then I brought a family member in because when you trust someone like I trust Dr B you just don't want your family going anywhere else. Anyways Dr Bermudez won over my family member with his bedside manner and talked them out of a cosmetic procedure they were considering (this guy is the real deal with the integrity). They ended up deciding to see him for injectables and got some great aesthetic and medical advice in their consult and walked away feeling confident in their next steps. Dr Bermudez and his team are the best.

The eye redness he noted was from something I did (false, I followed his post-op regimen) and he had no remedy for it . I sought outside opinions and most noted it was a bit excessive and to wait and if the eye redness didn't fade to then try to laser it with a laser specifically for red or get an injection 5fu to help the deep red scarring. The chest after a year still doesn't match and was told if I'm lucky the pigment may come back . He also took an additional Hour of OR time which cost me another $1000 at Hayes valley surgery center in SF. I've been told by several laser experts it should have taken less Then 1 hour if equipment and skill were correct. So as a retired OR nurse I've never spoke poorly of a surgeon but as they say there's a first for everything ! I'm hoping this saves others from the anguish and cost of a poorly done procedure ! Do your homework - I should have done more !

This is a follow-up review about the laser damage caused by Andrea Austin and nurse Mary Krempa in…read moreMarch 2024.  After I posted my review in March 2025, I saw a few other prominent dermatologists, including Dr. Timothy Berger at UCSF and Dr. Matt Lewis at Stanford, last year. They are both recommended by another patient who wrote a critical Yelp review of Andrea Austin. I reached out to her through Yelp because she wrote that her doctor told her that half of his patients with neurogenic rosacea are a result of laser damage, and I suspected that it was my case as well.  Dr. Berger at UCSF confirmed that the dense tissue in my cheeks is facial edema caused by Vbeam (Mary Krempa did so many passes with a high setting meant for blood vessels next to my nose on my delicate cheeks; also, I don't think my skin could tolerate 6 Vbeam in such a short period of time). As a result, I now have neurogenic rosacea, which I never had before seeing Andrea Austin. I hardly had any rosacea symptoms even before I saw Andrea Austin (no flushing, no pain, or nothing really, just slight pinkness on my cheeks, never had to worry about the heat or coldness or whatever).   As I wrote in my previous review, I saw Andrea Austin three times after the botched Vbeam. She STILL recommended to continue Vbeam during the two appts AFTER the botched treatment, and recommended me a hydro facial after learning that I would not do any more laser at the 3rd last appt.  I saw seven other reputable dermatologists between June 2024 and December 2025 because I was determined to find out what had happened to my face. All of them acknowledged the dense tissue (diagnosed as facial edema by Dr. Berger, Dr. MacGregor --my current derm, and Dr. Lewis), and almost all of them are very sympathetic to me about what had happened to my cheeks, and they all warned me to be extremely careful with my skin.  I also reached out to Andrea Austin through the online portal after seeing a PR reply to my previous Yelp review last year, and she literally messaged me that what I have now is NOT a result of the laser under her care, and she suggested a different skin condition, which was flatly denied by Dr. Berger.  I decided to share my horrendous experience so that other people who have very sensitive skin will think twice before they choose to go BACD. Having pain and discomfort in my cheeks and not knowing what happened to my face destroyed my mental health. Even after 2 years, I can still pinch and move the dense tissue under my cheeks, which I never had before Andrea Austin. I ended up taking 2 months+ off from work, as I no longer could function due to the extreme anxiety and insomnia caused by the harm Andrea Austin and Mary Krempa inflicted on me. I never experienced insomnia or mental illnesses in my whole life until THIS. Dr. Berger told me that the nerve damage could last 7-10 years, and he told me that even he couldn't tell exactly when my skin would be back to normal. He told me the best is not to disturb the damaged nerves on my cheeks. So, please be very careful if you have laser treatment at BACD. Dr. Berger trained most of the current derms at UCSF, and he was even the interim chair of the dermatology dept at UCSF (there are 70+ derms there). He was extremely kind and knowledgeable, and took so much time to explain and answer all my questions. The experience was a stark contrast to Andrea Austin, who refused to take any responsibility for what they had done to my face. Both my current derm, Dr. MacGregor, and Dr. Lewis at Stanford highly think of Dr. Berger, and Dr. Lewis even suggested sending Dr. Berger's notes to Andrea.  I blindly trusted Andrea Austin based on my positive previous experience with Dr. Welsh, and I am paying a hefty price for the biggest mistake of my life. Andrea Austin is so sure of herself (if you see her, you will know what I mean), but what she did to me is BEYOND unethical and comprehensible. Had I continued to listen to her, she would have further destroyed and damaged my skin.  If you decide to go to Andrea Austin, you MUST keep in mind that you will never get any help from this practice when things go wrong, no matter what PR employees say.

He thinks about the long term health of your skin and therefore isn't going to suggest extreme procedures right out the gate. He's going to advocate for the overall health of your skin and will gladly explain the facts (not feelings) behind his suggestions. You also aren't going to get generic treatment. Over time, he learns your skin and how it reacts, and he adjusts accordingly. As many of you know, the product/procedure is only part of the puzzle, a deft hand is what makes the difference. He is quick but so skilled and it shows. I have never had any complications from any of the treatments I have gotten from him. I have gotten the Lamprobe which is basically a lost art. Problem pores and spots that I've had for years are no longer on my face. I have also gotten the Plasma and Microneedling treatments both of which were well worth the money. You are made well aware of what happens if you don't put the effort in to do the process properly. He has sat with me to go step by step, product by product and come up with a weekly regimen to make sure that I am walking away for the best results. It really takes all the guesswork out of it for me. Scheduling is easy, and there is always parking nearby when I go. If you want someone who truly understands skin, this is THE place to go.
