Where to even begin? I LOVE Dr B and his office crew. Dr Bermudez is not only exceptionally skilled at his craft, his practice is run with an exceptional level of integrity andd transparency. He leans just a bit more conservative and natural in his aesthetic sensibilities vs that average already very conservative and natural approach in the Bay Area and he has a sculptors eye, in addition to being an excellent plastic surgeon he is also an artist and created all of the sculptures adorning his office! I met Dr B when my infant son needed earwells and the wait at UCSF was too long to get in within the recommended treatment window - little did I know what a stroke of luck this was for my family. I'd done my research ahead of time and watched countless videos of earwell treatment (a non surgical ear reshaping procedure for newborns) where a doctor just pops the mold on real quick so that was my expectation. Not Dr B, he took time consulting with me and assessing my son's ears and their symmetry, I think he sensed that I was a little nervous and he told me that he had done his own daughter's earwells which I found very comforting. Then I watched as he very carefully and precisely used the earwell components to sculpt and shape my son's ears into a perfect shape being careful that both sides would come out the same. The level of care and attention that Dr B gave to the procedure was like nothing I'd seen in all my research. Quality was top notch for sure but then his office worked their magic on the billing and I was able to get my son this treatment at no out of pocket cost which was an extremely pleasant surprise. I decided to see Dr Bermudez for injectables when I started noticing some issues that needed a careful eye and Dr B came through for me again. It wasn't my first time getting Botox but I'd never gotten this level of care or patient education. Dr B first talked with me about options for the issue I wanted to address including risks/benefits/long v short term cost - he followed my lead but offered his opinion when asked. Then he took a look at my face and walked me through his thinking as well as a cliffs notes in facial musculature and anatomy. I have never felt so comfortable. The injections were super easy too thanks to his super powerful numbing cream and the results are truly extraordinary. You pay more per unit with Dr B but it is so worth it. Most of my friends get Botox and even so they were shocked to learn that my refreshed look was thanks to the tox too. It just looks like my face reverse aged with none of the telltale frozen cheer mom look, IYKYK. I will never let anyone else touch my face with injectables again. Finally, when I first went to see Dr B I read his reviews and saw folks mentioning bringing their family members to Dr Bermudez and I admit I thought that was weird but then I brought a family member in because when you trust someone like I trust Dr B you just don't want your family going anywhere else. Anyways Dr Bermudez won over my family member with his bedside manner and talked them out of a cosmetic procedure they were considering (this guy is the real deal with the integrity). They ended up deciding to see him for injectables and got some great aesthetic and medical advice in their consult and walked away feeling confident in their next steps. I had CO2 laser of face, neck and chest over a year ago and still dealing with redness around eyes and chest area that wasn't blended to have less of a demarcation to skin that wasn't lasered . The eye redness he noted was from something I did (false, I followed his post-op regimen) and he had no remedy for it . I sought outside opinions and most noted it was a bit excessive and to wait and if the eye redness didn't fade to then try to laser it with a laser specifically for red or get an injection 5fu to help the deep red scarring. The chest after a year still doesn't match and was told if I'm lucky the pigment may come back . He also took an additional Hour of OR time which cost me another $1000 at Hayes valley surgery center in SF. I've been told by several laser experts it should have taken less Then 1 hour if equipment and skill were correct. So as a retired OR nurse I've never spoke poorly of a surgeon but as they say there's a first for everything ! I'm hoping this saves others from the anguish and cost of a poorly done procedure ! My husband was referred to Dr. Bermudez by his orthopedic surgeon. after he developed a cystoma at the incision site after back surgery. Dr. Bermudez was incredibly kind and patient . He treated him methodically and did not jump into surgery. He saw him weekly a few times hoping it would resolve with minimal intervention which we appreciated. But, he did end up doing a procedure and the procedure was smooth and the drain he placed did its job well. The area has healed well and is smooth and causes me no further trouble. I have had Dr. Bermudez do a few procedures on me in the past, but after my recent facelift experience, I will not be seeing him again. Dr. B. has a reputation for being conservative in his approach, which can be fine as you don't want to look overdone (i.e. like you permanently have a too-tight ponytail). But after spending in excess of $20k on my facelift, not only did it not look like I never had a facelift, I now had a head full of scars. His facelift approach was so conservative that, after healing, neither friends nor I could not tell the difference. Isn't the whole idea of a facelift that you're left with obvious improvement? I had specifically asked to have my naso-labial and marionette lines reduced, my jowls tightened so they would no longer be droopy, and my double chin reduced. Now I still have the lines, my jowls are not only still droopy but now they are uneven, and there was minimal difference to the "double chin" area. Additionally, in describing the surgery to me he never mentioned I would have a scar under my chin. But after my bandages came off I was horrified to discover there was a 1.5-2" scar there, and the sutures were not the nice, neat ones I would have expected from a cosmetic surgery; there were just a few widely-spaced sutures that left the skin puckered. The scar healed that way, and now almost 1.5 years later, the scar is still puckered and stands proud of the skin in such a way that it is visible when looking at me head on. (See photo.) When I saw Dr. B. in person and expressed my concerns he was dismissive of them. He stated he saw improvement in my face so as far as he was concerned, the surgery was successful. When I complained that he never told me about the under-chin incision he said I must have forgotten. (I myself am a medical professional and I would have remembered about something as significant as an additional facial scar.) When I complained about the very obvious chin scar, he stated (as he was standing above me while I was seated) that he could not see it. I feel that the facelift surgery he performed on me was a complete waste of a large amount of money, and his dismissive attitude towards my concerns means I will neither go back to him nor recommend him to any of my friends. read more

I am hesitant to write this review as I myself am a small business owner and value others in the same position. However, I feel it is important to share my experience with Dr. Bermudez, whom I hired to perform my 360 lipo, arms lipo, and fat transfer to my buttocks in November 2022, based on his positive reviews. Unfortunately, I missed one review with a one-star rating, and I ended up with a BOTCHED surgery. As a result, I have indentations on my stomach due to the garment and foam provided by his office, and it is not evident that I underwent lipo. See attached photos. As a gesture of good faith, Dr. Bermudez offered to perform a tummy tuck, but I would have to pay for the hospitalization. However, after consulting with several other plastic surgeons, I was advised against this as I didn't have enough excess skin to stretch, and a noticeable scar would be left behind. Furthermore, the recovery process would be much longer. The plastic surgeons who reviewed the operative report noted that not much fat was removed from the liposuction. Dr. Bermudez lacks compassion, he does not care about his patients and has a condescending and hot-tempered personality. Patients do not have access to him directly, and he never checks in on them. He simply takes your money and leaves you on your own. His staff is friendly but disorganized, and the instructions provided are confusing. read more

I am very blessed to have met Dr Bermudez! He is an amazing surgeon and cares for his patients very much. This was my first time getting plastic surgery (breast augmentation) and when I was ready, I did my research with all of the surgeons in SF and in the Bay Area. I didn't feel good about the consultations that I was having with the surgeons that I met and it was frustrating. That all changed when I met Dr Bermudez. I was pleasantly surprised at how completely transparent he was with me, and explained step by step what will be happening before, during and after my procedure. He took his time with me, answered all of my questions and was straight forward about what would compliment my body frame vs what I thought would look good on me. When it's time for plastic surgery, you want someone who is a perfectionist! And that's what Dr Bermudez is. Combined with his lovely bedside manner and genuine interest in his patients, he was fantastic to work with. My surgical drains had to stay in for 5 weeks, which was unexpected and unpleasant, but he kept a watchful eye on me and thoughtfully determined when they could be safely removed. His main goal is safety but he also has a great aesthetic eye. As a result, I'm totally happy with my results and glad I chose him. (I interview 3 other plastic surgeons and he was the only one who truly impressed me with his knowledge and approach.) I was recommended to Dr Bermudez to help me address a surgical dropout issue that occurred in combination with a completely unexpected intraop injury (both complications were originally from another surgeon/facility/procedure). I was in quite a lot of pain from the surgical dropout. Dr Bermudez was thorough in his evaluation and recommended treatment that would not only address the pain but correct the issue aesthetically. I felt very supported through the entire process from consult to surgery to postop follow up. It may sound quite strange but I vividly remember waking up from surgery and being in less pain than when I went in. Now that I am over a year out from the corrective surgery by Dr Bermudez I am happy to say I remain pain free and the aesthetic is very natural. I had an arm lift by Dr. Bermudez last summer, and I wish that I had done it years ago. I was the unfortunate victim of a bad surgeon who did liposuction on my arms years ago and was left with arms that looked like a deflated balloon. I worked out with weights everyday and had great muscle tone, but the sagging skin made me look like I was a centenarian. I have not worn sleeveless shirts in years, and I am thrilled to say that I wear sleeveless shirts every day and am extremely proud of my arms. So, as mentioned in a past review, if I had to do any other surgery I would choose Dr. Bermudez. I went in to talk about a butt lift and thigh lift. I didn't have enough body fat to do the butt lift, but we went forward with the thigh lift. I wanted to get rid of some sagging skin that makes wearing shorts, um, not so pretty. We talked over the procedure and the two surgical options, 1 with a scar down the thigh, 1 with a scar in the groin area, I chose the groin area. Everything went well for the surgery (btw, I had the best anesthesiologist - she was awesome). 1 week later, I developed an infection on the right side. I called his office on a Saturday morning (the morning I noticed it) and he had me come in immediately. The sad news, he had to open up the wound to clean it out. For three months I was dressing an open wound, in the groin area, but he was by my side the entire time. He had me come to his office weekly so that he could inspect how the wound was healing. We even went over some options for treatment but came to the conclusion that we should let time heal the area until he could go back and fix it. Three months after the infection, he was able to do reconstruction surgery on me, didn't charge me, only the fee for the surgery center and anesthesiologist. This time, we had a small issue, which was frustrating for both of us, but it healed over within a month, and I couldn't be happier with how the thighs look and with how the scaring looks. Complications can happen after surgery, but Dr. Bermudez will stand by you and not desert you. I will always feel safe in his hands. Also, his office staff is stellar. Annalee and Yesenia will treat you like a long time friend (we've been on this journey for 10 years) but I've seen how they interact with everyone. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Bermudez for over a decade. He performed rhinoplasty on me in 2007 (along with an ENT for internal work) and I was pretty happy. After most of the healing - I could see a small bump that I wasn't stoked about. Any kind of plastic surgery isn't cookie cutter. Everyone's body is different and sometimes you don't get the exact outcome you were looking for. Dr. Bermudez fixed what was bothering me at no additional cost. I visited him again in 2018. I had gone through a weight loss program and managed to lose 80lbs. I didn't have any really bad sagging and absolutely no stretch marks. He said that my skin has some really good memory (elasticity). I wanted to get a breast lift along with a FUPA lift and a few areas liposuctioned. After all was said and done (healing) I was ECSTATIC with the results! My breasts look totally natural and you wouldn't even know they had been worked on. Make sure that if you do have your breasts done or any other procedure that will have noticeable scarring that you use the scar reducing stickers called Embrace. They work MAGIC! Just came home from my 1 year follow-up visit after a Belt Lipectomy procedure performed by Dr. Bermudez and we both were very happy with the results. I had lost 80 or so pounds all on my own and decided to have a consultation with Dr. B about 3-4 months after losing the weight. I had done some online research as to what general procedures were out there, but I went into the consultation with next to no expectation of if I would even being worked with. I went into my first encounter with Dr. B wanting to see what he would suggest are the options for the conditions weight loss left me and my body in. From the initiation of scheduling a consultation with his staff all the way through the very end (today), communication, both in person and in between appointments/surgery/etc., was always clear and easy. If I needed to call in about something or if the office needed to call me for scheduling shifts it was always very accessible to do so and they were always very prompt in doing whatever needed to be done. At each and every pre- and post-surgery appointment, Dr. B would clearly lay out what needed to be said and advised on so you could weigh the options and make an informed decision. During the initial consultation he layed out a handful of different surgical (and even the do nothing at all is always an option) pathways and then proceeded to "rank" them in the order he recommended would be best for me and my body based on how impactful in producing the best possible results they would be. Even though I did experience a few post-surgery events (NONE of which were caused by surgical mishaps or the like) in the 2-3 weeks following my surgery, Dr. B and his team were very helpful and responsive in a professional and prompt manner. Whether it was reaching out to his office staff during a hospital visit for information the hospital wanted (to be better informed about my surgery and meds) or having to call Dr. B at practically midnight on Christmas Eve cause something was happening relating to recovery, communications were prompt, readily available, and got the job done. Overall good experience and great results. The post-surgery events I experienced were not at all out of the realm of the list of potential post-surgery experiences. And I repeat that they were NOT related to the performance and quality of the performance of the surgery. These events jist had to do with how my body reacted to recovery needs of such a big surgery (such as body fluid maintainence after the big loss of fluid that occurs during bigger surgeries). Before I met Dr. Bermudez, I had done months of research for my breast augmentation and the doctors that were reputable in the Bay Area. I knew that I wanted a natural result and a surgeon that could meet my expectations. When you are choosing your doctor, it's never certain what your end results will be. I could only trust from what I saw from the pictures on his websites and my first meeting with Dr. Bermudez. From my first consultation, I knew Dr. Bermudez was going to be my doctor. He didn't try and convince me or paint me a perfect picture but instead educated me about the risks involved and the pros and cons, depending on the route I took. He gave me realistic expectations and also addressed many of my concerns. For my sizing, I wanted a full but most importantly I really wanted Natural. One of the things that made me more confident in choosing Dr. Bermudez was that he will not choose implants that will look unnatural. Even if you had all the money in the world, he will not do the gargantuan look that some women do like. This procedure was my first time I ever had surgery and anesthesia, so I was a bit nervous. My whole experience in the hospital exceeded my expectations from beginning to end and I left with very little pain. Fast forward 5 months, I have seen Dr. B for a few follow ups and is closely monitoring my progress. The front desk ladies are always as friendly and will address any questions I may have. I can't give more than 5 stars so I'm Writing a second review.. I've had multiple services by dr Bermudez. A breast lift and augmentation, Botox .. I loved him and his staff so much that I came back a year later for a tummy tuck and lip fillers .. I've seen some of the negative reviews ( only 2 I think) and I'm blown away .. I don't think we're reviewing the same dr ? One of my breasts didn't drop and dr Bermudez had no issue whatsoever fixing the issue ( which had nothing to do with his work it's a healing issue ) , and getting FREE of charge a new implant when he could've use the original but chose not to considering my health .. . Also I understood that I'd have to pay for anesthesia to fix my breast but that is a given as the anesthesiologist is a separate entity!!! I would absolutely send friends or family to him . He's professional and gracious . I strongly DISAGREE with what one disgruntled woman said about him caring only for money .. total BS . Reading that review made me angry its an unjust attack... In closing I'll say there are many choices out there but if you want excellent work and you have realistic expectations ( you're not looking to be "fixed ") then he's the one .. he's the best .. I made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. B to discuss breast reduction surgery and never looked back. My motivation for surgery was to alleviate pain in my shoulders. Dr. B and I had a frank discussion about what was involved and the ramifications of that surgery. He answered all of my questions in an honest and thoughtful manner, never made me feel silly for asking them, and spent as much time with me as I needed to feel comfortable about having the surgery. He was also instrumental in helping me receive approval for the surgery from my insurance company. At my last appointment before surgery, when I was having last minute "cold feet," Dr. B calmly reminded me why I wanted the surgery in the first place. I will forever be grateful for his understanding and patience. My surgery went well as did my follow-up. When I needed two additional procedures, he was able to perform them in his office, saving me the additional cost of an OR. Dr. B also has the best office staff! Annalee and Brianna have always patiently answered my questions and are knowledgeable, unfailingly warm and welcoming, and sensitive to my needs. I playfully refer to them as my new BFFs. All of my life I've had a fear of going to the doctor, and I can honestly admit that I look forward to my appointments here. Let me begin with a ringing shout out, I LOVE MY NEW BREASTS!!! Not once in my life have those words come out of my mouth. From the moment they exploded out of my chest at 12 to when they started getting way-out-of-proportion huge as I entered my 50's. It's sad, but true, my breasts have always been a burden. And now? I am exercising like crazy, really enjoying hot yoga, (I know you can't say that with large breasts impeding and weighing you down!), walking the SF hills and swimming. And not going to the chiropractor every week! My life has changed and my spine feels like it's been re-born. And I thank Dr. Bermudez for REALLY listening to me, hearing my concerns and for giving me the breasts I wish God had given me. My only regret? Waiting too long! I'm a smart consumer. I did my homework and read and researched everything. The best piece of advice I received was to make sure I saw pictures of the doctors' work. I interviewed 4 doctors and some of the pictures were very, very bad, or even non-existent! Dr. Bermudez's pictures were great. I was also very concerned about loss of nipple sensitivity and had one doctor point out that I was over 50, like that shouldn't matter to me anymore...yep, that's the truth, she said that. This review is long overdue. I went to Dr. Bermudez about a year ago for a breast reduction and I have to say that I LOVE MY NEW BREASTS!! They are a beautiful natural shape and I have no more back pain! Dr. Bermudez is not only a wonderfully skilled surgeon, but made me feel so comfortable from the very beginning. He really cares about you! I was of course nervous about the procedure and he was so thorough in explaining the process and answering all of my questions. I went from a 36 DDD/E to a nice 32 D. One issue I had was that my left breast was larger than the right one and he's made them nearly perfectly symmetrical. Of course there are some scars, but they are fading and will continue to fade over time. Thank you, Dr. Bermudez!! As of April 2010, I only see Dr. Bermudez for check ups and monitoring of my healing, but it is great to know who I'd go to if I ever needed any elective work done! Breast cancer wasn't exactly how I thought I was going to spend 2008, but Dr. Bermudez made it a lot easier to handle. The breast reconstruction he did is beautiful. Only a pro could tell I had a double mastectomy. My breasts match my body's curves and I feel whole again. I am grateful he is the doctor I get to follow up with, too.
