So every time we have attempted to go to skybox, the line has been out the door. This time we were able to get in and sit at the bar. There weren't many people there, so it was a relaxed vibe. The bartenders were great in sharing what we needed to know on our first visit. So the spinach queso was our favorite. I didn't care for the chicken tenders as it didn't taste like it had much seasoning on it, but the fries were really good. The mimosa was a highlight of the meal. It was a "manmosa" and you really only need one. Overall, pretty standard food. Not sure what the fuss is in regards to there being a line during the times we have rode by previously. The food is pretty decent and there were a number of tvs present, so that's really all anyone needs. read more

Our family goes a couple times a month on what we call "French fry Friday." We've never had a bad meal here. The food is always excellent. Some go-to's are the steak fajita tacos, steak burger, house salad with blackened salmon and wings (sweet and spicy sauce is so good and mirrors honey hot sauce). Get fries as a side. They're delicious! The kids menu has a wide variety and our daughters love everything. The skillet cookie is a great dessert option! Good place for watching sports as well. She was on her phone while taking our order and was very rude. Went back about three weeks later and she was our server. I've been to this restaurant several times for a beer and burger on the weekend and it's spot on every time. This time I stopped in for lunch. Ordered a grilled ground ribeye patty with black-eyed peas and Caesar salad. Plus, a really good local IPA 901 Hoplar). Honestly, this was not only a great lunch, the beef patty was incredible. Served medium with perfect char and grill marks and the unmistakably right steak blend of pepper, garlic and salt grilled in. Black-eyed peas were spot on with a bit of bacon and well-cooked but not mushy. The Caesar salad was fresh and lightly dressed with a homemade dressing (just the right balance of oil, lemon and anchovy). Skybox is set up as a place for locals to come, watch the game, have some good eats and watch the game. We went to the bar on Saturday, December 21, 2024. The wait staff is fantastic. I ordered the cold smoke pork chop. The pork chop tasted like a salty piece of ham. We sent the pork chop back. Later the kitchen manager (?) gave us a stern and unpleasant talk. He said the owner does not like it when customers send food back. We told him what the pork chop tasted like, he said its all pork! This is hands down my favorite place in the greater Memphis area. Food is good. Service is good. But what's great is the atmosphere. This local joint is truly local. The owner will come up and introduce himself by name. And he knows your name the next time you come. Servers are the same. Good for families, friends or just hanging out watching a game. I hadn't planned on choosing a burger, but when I read the toppings for the Deep South burger with pimento cheese, they got me with the fried green tomato and garlic onion jam. We initially planned to support another restaurant only to find it was not allowing dine in service. I opened the Yelp app and stumbled upon this restaurant. I've passed it a few times but never stopped it. We called ahead and was informed dine in was allowed, and there was no wait at the time. Upon arrival, the parking lot was very crowded. Immediately upon entrance, we were greeted and led to a table. The menus were very easy to read. We provided drink orders. I chose a mimosa, but before I could note I wanted cranberry juice, our waitress had bounced away from the table (she was moving pretty fast all day, lol). She came back a short while later and apologized for the issue. I took the regular mimosa, which was still delicious. I ordered the chicken and waffles with breakfast potatoes. Omg the waffles were so delicious. I think they add the powdered sugar to the batter. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We ordered several drinks at our table including a Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Spicy Margarita and the Cherry Limeade drinks. To say not only was the Manhattan and Old Fashioned were two of the worst we've ever had at any establishment. When we brought the Manhattan to the attention of our waitress, she told whom I'm guessing was a manager. He came over to the table and said rather rudely, we don't take drinks back and I can add some club soda to it. Well adding club soda to a drink that is already not appetizing was a slap in the face. Not once did he apologize or even offer to remake the drink. We even asked him to get a straw to taste the drink which he refused. If making certain drinks aren't in your wheelhouse, then don't offer them on your menu. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat! I stopped in on a Saturday night and this place was SLAMMED! I had no problem finding a seat at the bar, and was taken care of by Morgan. I had Joanie's fried pickles (amazing), and the Cajun pasta. It was creamy, just the right amount of spice, and the shrimp me crawfish were cooked perfectly. We went with friends last night to have ribeyes. My wife ordered the redfish. I ordered a burger. The ribeyes were every bit as good as our friends said they would be. My burger was perfect - I like them pink in the center and that's exactly what I got. Very flavorful. My wife's fish turned out to be two very thin overcooked filets. She couldn't eat it and we sent it back. Her dinner was still on the bill when it arrived and the manager happened to walk by as we discussed this with our server. To be fair we did not ask for it to be taken off our bill but normally a restaurant will do that if you had to send a dinner back. My wife told the manager about her fish and his response was "I'll mention it to the cook but I've never had a complaint before." His almost condescending manner made us think that he thought it impossible for his restaurant to over cook something. Wow. How about "I'm very sorry your meal wasn't satisfactory and please let us make it up to you" like a normal restaurant would. To sum up the evening - stick to the steaks and burgers (which were awesome) and don't order grilled fish from a sports bar. How have I not reviewed this place? This is a great family night out. It's casual dining but the food is elevated above normal bar food. It's really good! Every time I go, I get something different and it's all good. My favorites are the shrimp and grits, the Cajun pasta, and the grilled pimento cheese sandwich. My husband rotates between a burger, the cubano sandwich, and the chicken Philly. The general manager is a great guy and you can always find him working the restaurant and checking on his patrons. This place was 3 stars based on the food! If I were my wife I bet it was a 4 star kind of place. She has wanted to come here since it opened. She is already mad at me because as she states "I know you will never come here again with me". She knows me all too well... I assured her I would give them another chance. We will see, I'm pretty annoyed by shitty service and this visit was a shining example. We walked into the left door. All outside windows are tinted with mirror tint so it's impossible to see into the business. They aren't labeled and so we walked into a dead dismal room with no TV's. There was one couple seated, they were finishing up Greeted right away by a very nice lady that was laying down a plate of her own food down to eat. We were told we could sit anywhere. After looking around we could see the entrance into the bar side and decided to venture over there. We chose the bar side, it had a much livelier feel. There were several folks and lots of televisions. The nice lady followed us over and set up the table for us. She took our bev orders and shouted them to the bartender (who had a training person following her). Her name is Dana K. on the receipt. Bartender pours our beers and arrives for apps orders. We order the crawfish dip, "good choice she says". She arrives with the dip and is all like "Are you ready to order Dinner?" Chill; let me eat my dip... We had two hours to kill waiting on our youngest two children at a birthday party. We were in no rush at all but she for some reason was. She comes back again for orders and we order this time. I just ordered Wings with nothing else and the babe has a Shrimp BLT with fries. Food arrives and we dig in. The fries were awesome! Hands down best I have had in a good long while! Wifey loved the SBLT and let me continue the fry snatching. I ordered "seasoned wings" with no side. The wings were cooked well, nice and crispy, but the seasoning was weak. No real flavor other than saltiness. The crawfish dip was edible but not that good. The tortillas were too thick and I didn't care for the crostini. Oh, wait here is my server?!?! What does she want? I finished one wing and she comes up with her follower and says "I know this isn't very convenient but we are having shift change and I need to settle up with you before we go" Are you shitting me? Really? It is like 4:40 in the afternoon? She didn't even offer another drink before we tabbed out. She hands me the check and kind of hovers waiting for me to get my wallet out. So, I am eating wings, with my hands, I have to get my wallet, grab the check out of the nasty check holding thing, grab my card, and then use her nasty pen, all while just receiving my food and watching it get cold. I signed and tipped her 20% even though I really shouldn't have. I get up to go wash my hands and leave my food there chilling because my hands are now all contaminated and stuff. There wasn't much said at dinner after that. My wife knew I was beside myself and she has been around long enough to just let me chill. She wanted to order another beer and hang out for a bit, but just as she was trying to convince me the bartender takes over for my Bar/Server. My server and her trainer sit down at the bar and order a beer. I will be damned! It was still before 5:00. I could see if she had to rush out and take care of something, but to force me to settle 20 minutes before your help is taking over just to sit at the bar and drink in front of me takes some real balls and a strong case of screw the guest.
