As I've gotten older, I've learned that there are some things in life that you shouldn't compromise on. One of those things is a good night's sleep. After 13 years sharing a full size bed, the wife and I were finally able to upgrade to a queen. We were inclined towards Casper since our old Casper mattress had served us well. So we visited The Sleep Shoppe in order to narrow down options. The salesman, Michael, was friendly and helpful. He gave us recommendations for Casper and other brands based on the features we were looking for, and we were able to rest on a bunch of different mattresses without feeling rushed or pressured to buy. We finally decided on the Casper Snow Max since it had the level of comfort and cooling that we wanted. Casper was doing a discount for the holidays, and the in-store price was the same as on Casper's website, so we felt good about purchasing from the store. Michael even threw in a free quality mattress topper that has its own cooling that pairs well with the Snow Max. Delivery was completed within a reasonable time frame. Buyer beware... that is what they say. Just know that iF your problem is with a $7,773.03 Aireloom split king ___you're not going to get any help from the Sleep Shoppe. They made their $$. Purchased on 03/2024. After 3 months I noticed my back and shoulders were burning when i got up in the morning, but never in my wildest dreams did i think it was our new, very expensive, locally made mattresses that were the culprit. Another month goes by and I can't stand it. We stripped everything down and woah! I'm sleeping in a hammock. Called Michael, we were a month outside the trial period, no matter he says. IF it is a factory defect the buyer is basically on their own. Us and the big insurance company Aireloom hires. You have to fill out a form to complain about one of the XLT beds breaking down after only 4 months. A man will come out and put a cardboard circle with lines drawn on it on the bed and from that, determine if your bed is defective. He compares the two beds, one has sides so squishy that I slip off when i get up. HOWEVER according to the cardboard ring, it isn't enough for the E.S. KLUFT Warranty company for Aireloom in Rancho Cucamonga CA. They denied our request and want us to wait 6 months before we can file another claim. I have no clue what we are going to do! None. I am angry and upset and I see no way forward. THey should have taken a picture with me on the hammock. I do know I won't be shopping at our local mattress shoppe ever again and we bought from them several times in the past. ALSO we do not recommend buying the Aireloom mattresses, they do not stand behind their product. read more

I explained it was not within my budget. He did not like that. When I began asking questions about a mattress, he became rude as if I waste his time. Great customer service and excellent selection of high quality mattresses! We were in need of a new mattress and started our search on last Sunday afternoon. Most other mattress stores closed early and we ended up at the Sleep Shoppe as it was the only mattress store available at the time. Located in Newbury Park right next to La Quinta hotel, this mattress store has a wide variety of mattress sets available, from mid range to ultra high end. When we arrived, Peter greeted us warmly. We were overwhelmed by the wide selection of mattresses, and Peter suggested us trying the soft, medium, firm mattresses first to gauge our preference. This helped us eliminated many mattresses right off the bat. Afterwards, Peter showed us mattresses of different price ranges ($1,300 to $10,000) of our desired firmness, and explained to us the qualities that differentiated between high vs. low quality mattresses. At the end, we picked Stearn and Foster Euro top mattresses ($3,300) which was high quality but worth every penny. We were grateful that Peter took the time to educate us on what to look for in quality and durable mattresses. I highly recommend the Sleep Shoppe. Recently I stopped in at the Sleep Shoppe on Newbury Road in Newbury Park to begin shopping for a new bed. As I entered the store, I was greeted by a gentleman who identified himself as Tom. Tom had this smile on his face as if we had known each other for years. I guess that's why I didn't give him the immediate "I'm just looking" response, as I guess most of us do in that situation. In the next two or three minutes following Tom's greeting, Tom knew what size bed I was looking for, what room of the house the new bed was intended for, who would be sleeping on the new bed, and what my preference was for the sleeping surface such as firm, plush, pillow-top and so on. So, at this point, I had no intention of sending Tom away so I said, "Show me what you've got." Tom also seemed more like an interior designer than a salesman. But boy did he know his mattresses. He not only knew how the beds were made, but more importantly he explained how I could benefit from the different manufacturing designs. After about 45 minutes or so, I settled on what I considered the perfect choice. At this point, Tom showed me the "Sleep Shoppe Price Guarantee" which simply states, if you can find the same item anywhere else for less within 30 days following your purchase, the Sleep Shoppe will refund you the difference plus 10 percent. So looking at my imaginary checklist, I've checked off, bought locally, bought from a reputable company, bought from a helpful/qualified salesperson, bought for the best price. Andrew worked closely with us throughout the process, guiding, helping, and advising, and ensuring we got just the right replacement mattress.He made sure that our return process was smooth, and was a 100% accountable to us. This store is a sea of beds. Other than lying down on each one, we had no idea how to navigate it, to pluck out the perfect one for our needs. Enter Peter, who took on the task like a yeoman. I must admire a good salesman, which he is. I suspect he can sell anything... but let's not digress. He took control and quickly identified the firmness, cushion, size, features and thickness that we needed. What a relief not to have to test each and every mattress in the store! He directed us to try a line of 5 mattresses that roughly met our criteria. From there he directed us to the remaining offerings in the store, which fit our needs. Within an hour we had narrowed it down to two beds! We didn't want to have to order and wait for a bed, so we opted to buy a floor model on sale. Bam, like magic we drove home with a beautiful new mattress! We might be an anomaly -- most people probably take delivery -- but we wanted to wrap it up that day and sleep on it that night. We drove our pickup truck to the store. Though our shopping experience was exceptional, even more so is the product. We told Peter we were waking up with hip pain. Guess what? No more! Needless to say, he solved our problem, we are pain free and sleeping well! Don't waste your time on a store with poorly trained sales people. Its been about 12 years since we've mattress shopped. When we went in, we were promptly greeted by Genesis. We couldn't even say what we were looking for so she started by educating us on the different styles and comforts. She was patient the entire time as we jumped from mattress to mattress searching for the perfect one. After a while we found it. Delivery was scheduled & 1 week later we are now sleeping on it. My husband and I purchased a split Cal King adjustable bed and two Stearns and Foster mattresses for it. Peter was very nice through the purchase. When the delivery came they took the adjustable base out of the packaging and immediately my room filled with an awful smell. At first I just thought that it needed to air out because it was sealed in plastic. After several days the smell was still there and it was so bad I slept downstairs. I brought it to their attention and they said the had never had that happen. I asked for a new one and they exchanged it no problem. A few months later, I decided to turn the mattresses because they were bending funny when raising the head of the bed. After turning one of the mattresses, I noticed a significant hole on the edging (welting) on one of the mattresses. That particular side was in the inside/center of the bed, so it wasn't noticeable, even when changing sheets. I called the store and spoke to Peter and he immediately asked me to read the warranty. They said that because it was a few months since purchase that the hole could have happened after the delivery. I told him that that wasn't satisfactory and he had his Stearns and Foster rep call me and he said the same thing. The store and Sterns and Foster did not stand by their product(s). We paid $6,000. for the set. They didn't even offer to repair it. Be careful when you purchase from them. Look thoroughly at your mattresses when you purchase from them. The delivery person put the mattress on the bed with the hole on the inside so it wasn't noticeable. Very disappointed..... read more

After 30 years of exclusive use of the Sleep Shoppe and a dozen beds, these guys simply don't care any more. I bought a bed for my mother moving into senior living a full month before she moved and had to have this bed. Day before they call to push delivery out a week, the computer was showing it in the warehouse but it wasn't. When I got upset with the idea that my mother has no bed, the salesman who contacted me cops an attitude like he is doing me a favor by calling me on Friday before the Saturday delivery date. OK mistakes happen, the computer wasn't updated... I go back in April and buy another bed for my new home, delivery in 3 weeks (today) I get called yesterday, there is a problem it will be another week, the computer shows it in... I worked with the same guy as before. I reminded him of what happened. He remembered what happened. Did anyone place one ounce of extra care for a long time loyal customer that you already failed? No they don't care. I will never go back to Sleep Shoppe. read more

Last July (2019), I bought 2 mattress sets at the Newbury Park location. I wanted an inexpensive one for an upstairs guest room, and told him I would pay more for the one for myself downstairs. My bed was not that comfortable with my back problem. My old one went upstairs to a 2nd guest room. I told him I need a very plush/soft bed. He sold me the one for the 2nd upstairs guest room for $329 and the one for myself at $850 saying that it would get softer after sleeping in it for a month. He said he had almost the same bed, and it gets softer. He sold me a foundation which was 9" high...way too high for my antique bed. I could barely "climb" into it. That wasnt the worst of it. The bed was way harder than my old one and I had a hard time sleeping it it. I called to return it, and he then told me that there was a 15% restocking fee and I had to get something at the same price or more. The one I got in the guest room was way more comfortable, but I didnt want to take it upstairs after paying so much. The next softer bed was a little more than double the price at over $1,700. I am a senior on social security and could not afford that plus the 15% fee on top of it, and charging a $75 delivery fee. He then convinced me to exchange the tall foundation, and sent a 2" bunkie board. This was so exceptionally low that I couldnt get in and out of the bed without having something near to pull myself out. I also had a terrible time making the bed because the mattress was way below the bedframe and I couldnt get my hands down there. After almost 4 months of sleeping on this incredibly uncomfortable mattress, a neighbor came over and exchange it with my old one which we had put in another upstairs bedroom. My old one had the original box springs (not a wood slab foundatation like they are selling now). What relief to sleep on my old one, and what a waste to have an $850 bed upstairs not even being used. Altogether, I spent $1,594.98 there, and can't even sleep on their beds. All that money for nothing. No more aches and pains after putting my old bed back. To sum it up....I could have paid around $350 at Big Lots for a Serta or a Sealy that would have been much more comfortable that the beds they sell in this store!! If you want a good quality soft bed from the Sleep Shop, be prepared to spend $700 to almost $4000. read more

Peter is simply the best! He helped us pick the best mattress despite our very different sleep needs, had it delivered quickly and took away the old bed. So easy... until we realized that WE made a mistake in our measurements and discovered that we couldn't keep the brand new box springs we got with our new mattress. Despite this being completely our fault, Peter and the team there helped us out big time by coming back and taking the unused box springs. Honestly, we thought we would have to just toss them since we couldn't seem to offload them, but Peter was so helpful and responsive in picking them up it was such a relief. At first my experience at The Sleep Shoppe was great, the service in the store was nice enough, they had a good selection..Everything seemed fine, until 2 days before my bed and bed set were to be delivered I received a phone call that my bed set was no longer available and I had to choose another. This moved my delivery wait out another week. The day before my bed set was to be delivered when I called to confirm the time it would arrive the following day they said I wasn't even on the list for delivery. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Marie seems nice, but if any issues arise she's unwilling to compromise and help out the customer to ease their anxiety. As a consolation all l I got was a lame sheet set. I was in need of a Cal King foundation on a Sunday and was very pleased with Marie and her handling of a "not so big" transaction. It was affordable and in stock. She mentioned higher priced ones but did not push. The set I chose turned out to be too tall for our headboard, so I called them back a day later expecting to be out of luck as I had removed the plastic, but was pleasantly surprised when they agreed to exchange for a shorter foundation without charge. Warehouse guys were polite and prompt and I did not have to wait. For everyone here that may have whined or worried about getting "pressured" to buy please remember that the people here sell for a living. These mattresses are not cheap but they offer value and a long useful life. The reps will offer them to you.. it's how they eat.. have an open mind and just be realistic about your budget.. If you want a $200 king mattress, there are other places to go, but if you want a great mattress at a reasonable price along with a guarantee from a solid local firm, go see the Sleep Shoppe on Newbury Park..
