I saw some chocolate alfajores (my fave), and some other alfajores with what looked like a fruit filling. I asked her what the filling was, and her response was, "Um, I don't know." That is an unacceptable response. She works there, and she should be able to answer questions about every item they sell. To me, that question would be a pretty common one, so "Let me find out" would have been a better response. I bought a few things and I'm sure they'll be good. But I hope they'll train their folks more thoroughly.

Since 2011, they've created hand-made artisanal truffles, bark, and wrapped chocolates just twenty miles west of Boston. We saw them being promoted on a television news show, and since we both have a weakness for chocolate, decided to give their "Trio Nut Bark" a go. It came in a pretty boxed gift set with three different chocolate barks in generously portioned 3" X 3" squares. There were four squares of each of the three flavors for a total of twelve yummy squares. Here are the over-the-top descriptions from their website: 1) Rich Dark Chocolate Almond bark sprinkled with delicate French grey sea salt 2) Creamy White Chocolate Bark with the satisfying crunch of green hued slightly sweet pistachios 3) Smooth Milk Chocolate Bark with the delightful crunch of roasted buttery Cashews So how did our $24.50 + shipping chocolates taste? The Rich Dark Chocolate Almond bark was top notch. Excellent dark chocolate flavor, plenty of big almond pieces, and that light touch of sea salt really finished it off. The Creamy White Chocolate Bark was excellent, and I was impressed by the large amount of full-sized pistachio nuts in the square. The Milk Chocolate Bark was fantastic -smooth, creamy, and sweet with plenty of crushed cashews to boost up the taste and add to the texture. They were all so good, I really can't say I had a favorite. In summary, their chocolates are magnificent. BTW, their website advertises a very cool experience for ten or more - a Virtual Chocolate Tasting, with chocolate kits for your guests, a lesson on how chocolate is made, and chocolate tastings along each step of the process.

It was like they were lazy and couldn't be bothered making an acai bowl (bowl containers?) with the toppings already on top and bowl sealed. For the amount of money charged, I would expect a nicely made acai bowl instead of the DIY. The acai with the two toppings tasted very sweet, which was expected. I've been to other places which specialize in acai bowls and for similar prices or less, I can get a custom made nice looking acai bowl with lots of interesting toppings included, not just 2 ordinary toppings. Look up Playa Bowls, which set the bar on how acai bowls should be made. This place really needs to put forth some effort in making acai bowls nicely for takeout customers. DIY acai with minimal toppings is not acceptable.

Our Swirls Around the World Family is so beyond blessed and grateful to have connected with the incredible Liz (aka The Sleepy Baker!). An important and special part of our Swirls Around the World Mission is paying it forward through Swirls Warrior Days for pediatric and young adult cancer fighters and families. On Monday, we were contacted by a warrior family to assist in finding a special cake to celebrate their warrior's 3rd birthday that upcoming Friday. After searching for bakeries in the area, we came upon Liz and The Sleepy Baker and sent an email to ask if she would be willing to team up with Swirls to help make a warrior's birthday extra special. Not even 5 minutes after sending the email we received a response from Liz more than willing and happy to make this possible. Not only did Liz offer to make the cake on such short notice, but she also offered to deliver the cake herself. Liz created the most perfect 3rd birthday cake, leaving us speechless. She capture the warrior's favorite characters (Thomas the Train and Lighting McQueen) AND his favorite flavor! Lis brought all of the the magic, smiles, and blessings - and helped create the most special birthday for a child and family who have been through so much together. Liz is a true angel on Earth. I have now had the opportunity to purchase many of my children's birthday cakes from the Sleepy Baker and have never been disappointed. She is truly talented and lovely to work with. She is always up for a challenge. For example just recently for my 5 year old's Starwars themed party he wanted a Luke Skywalkers X-wing plane cake. I tried to convince my son to have a Darth Vader or R2D2 cake which I thought would already be hard but perhaps a little easier but she insisted she was up for the challenge of it. The cake was spectacular. What was equally as impressive was how incredible it tasted. This was not your typical kids cake but truly gourmet. It was layered and filled with a dark chocolate swiss meringue butter cream! The frosting, the filling, and the cake part were heavenly. I heard many of our grown-up guests say it was the best cake they had ever tasted. It was fabulous to be able to please both the younger and older set! I originally met Liz when she made mini-cupcakes for a charity auction I helped plan. The cupcakes were amazing so when my Mom mentioned she was getting the cake for my cousins baby shower I told her I had a great baker to use and immediately contacted The Sleepy Baker. Liz was fabulous to work with - so easy going and ready to make tons of suggestions since I wasn't really sure what I wanted. I gave her the shower invitation and she created a replica of it on the cake. The cake looked amazing but tasted even better. I am not normally a huge fan of frosting but Liz''s lemon swiss meringue frosting was by far one of the greatest things I have ever tasted. All the women at the shower were practically licking their plates clean!! I will definitely be using The Sleepy Baker for all future bakery needs!!! read more

I had such a nice experience working with Sleepy Baker for my daughter's 1st birthday! It was super easy to get in touch and coordinate everything over email, which made the whole process stress-free. She created the most adorable personalized smash cake that perfectly matched my daughter's birthday theme. To meet her order minimum, I added cupcakes, which turned out to be a great decision because they were just as beautiful and delicious! While the price was on the higher side for a four-inch cake, it was clear that extra care and attention went into every detail. She genuinely cared about my experience and went above and beyond to ensure the cake stayed intact during the drive home. Plus, she was so sweet and thoughtful throughout the process. I will never forget the first time I tried one of Liz's cakes. It was at a party and the cake was gorgeous- so gorgeous that I figured it would be one of those "gorgeous, but tasteless cakes". The cake that I out into my mouth blew my mind. It was so delicious! I kept saying to people, "Oh my god! Did you try the cake? It's amazing!" Had my mom's 70th birthday. We asked the sleepy baker to include all of her favorite things on the cake... A cake shaped like a slot machine!!! They even added a working lever on the side of the slot machine. All we had to do is just give them a few thoughts and their creativity did the rest. Can you say banana pudding? It's so delicious, I want some right now so badly. Layers of pudding, vanilla wafers, and banana. They sell out quite often, especially during the holidays. Given that fall is in full swing, I opted to try the Butterbeer Cake in a Jar and honestly, I loved it! The frosting is a bit on the sweeter side (I am a huge fan of frosting, so no complaints from me). Both the cake and the frosting had a really nice butterbeer (butterscotch) flavor which wasn't overpowering, but it was very pleasant. Because the cake is kinda squished into the jar, it is a little "crumble-y" but the frosting really holds it together. I will definitely be coming back and I'm excited to try more flavors!

We can't say enough good things about our experience with Milly Ramsey. She responds quickly to emails, respects customers and those being honored with her cake, and asks all the right questions. A first-rate professional. My mom is a retired university professor, and also a dealer of rare books. Milly created a cake with two extremely realistic books as its base. If you looked at the edges, you could even see the appearance of individual pages! Gold decorated the bindings, which had the appearance of rich leather. We told Milly that mom had hand-made several quilts. Milly requested some photos, and then created a faithful miniature replica of a quilt mom had made for my brother, draping this decorative element artfully over the books. As a final touch, the writing on the cake was presented on a replica of an old-fashioned library book withdrawal sheet! AND everything was not only edible, but mouthwateringly delicious. This was not just an "all show" cake! It looked AND tasted superb, and everyone raved. Some guests even asked me for Milly's contact info... that's how impressive this cake was.

I went for three dozen "simple" cupcakes (red velvet with buttercream, vanilla and chocolate (both with espresso buttercream). Paige (the woman who owns the business) was prompt to confirm my order, sent me an invoice via email later in the week and was very flexible when scheduling my pickup. I cannot, CANNOT, tell you how much people LOVED those cupcakes. I saved a few of them from the party to bring to a BBQ the next day and people were raving about them even a day later. More people talked about the cupcakes than the smoked and grilled meats! It's a bit of a hike (the business is near Honey Pot Hill Orchards) but you can't go wrong with these treats!
