Truly's is a small, charming ice cream shop right in the heart of Wellesley that stays open into the later hours, which is great for a late-night treat. We visited about an hour before closing on a surprisingly cold evening, and the place was still bustling with people, always a good sign for an ice cream spot. They have a nice selection of seasonal flavors available in froyo, hard scoop, or soft serve. We decided to try a milkshake and the blueberry pie flavor. The blueberry pie ice cream was good, a little sweet but not overly so, with a genuine fruit taste. The milkshake was of the thicker, more substantial variety, but wasn't so thick that it was hard to drink. The price felt right for the generous portions, and we left feeling satisfied. Just a friendly heads-up for those sensitive to dairy: we did need to take lactaid pills afterward, so it might be something to watch out for if you're lactose intolerant. Overall, Truly's is a solid, popular local spot that clearly draws a crowd for good reason, even on chilly nights.

Excellent ice cream. Excellent ownership , and my go to for a great ice cream sundae. Employees all great ... different flavors of the day .

Prefect ice cream spot! They have a ton of soft serve favors - the day we went they had a cookie/oreo flavor in addition to the classic chocolate vanilla or twist (The menu is always changing) I got classic vanilla soft serve because I was in the mood for a classic and it really hit the spot. They have some tables inside, and lots of outdoor seating. Will be back again!

I'm weak for trulys. Me and my friends always try to make an excuse to come. THE SOFT SERVE IS PERFECT!!. Service is so quick. Ambiance is fast, not really any seating inside but most people eat their ice cream in their car or the outside tables:)

Licks. Living in Connecticut, I was unfamiliar with J.P. Licks. I found out it's a Massachusetts ice cream chain with locations in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville, Newton, Wellesley, Andover, Lynnfield, and Dedham. When you walk into their colorful store, you'll see the big menu board highlighting their frozen treats - Ice Cream & Hard Yogurt Flavors, Soft & Tart Yogurt Flavors, Frappes, Smoothies, Dairy Free Drinks, Toppings, Sundaes, Splits, and more. We saw ice cream cakes and pies, ice cream sandwiches, cupcakes and so much more. They even have a coffee bar with hot breakfast & snacks like oatmeal, waffles, croissant and egg sandwiches, etc. I went into their Feature Flavors menu and was delighted to find a personal favorite - Orange Chocolate Chip "Creamy orange ice cream with soft, dark chocolate chips". It was outstanding. My wife went with a dish of Coconut Almond Chip - "Ultra coconut creamy ice cream with sweet, shredded coconut, roasted salted almonds, and semisweet chocolate chips in this chewy-crunchy textural delight". I sampled it and enjoyed it more than mine! Small cups ran over $5 apiece, so be forewarned. The young crew working at J.P. Licks was friendly and fun to chat with. We took one of their tables at the front of the store and the six of us enjoyed our excellent ice cream.

We walked up to a simple, casual setup that is more of a quick stop for a treat rather than a place to sit and spend a long time, but the location adds a little extra charm with trains passing by while you enjoy your cone. The shop is compact and unpretentious, the kind of place that feels rooted in the community. The biggest highlight for us was the portion size and value. The servings are generous for the price, especially compared to many other ice cream shops where portions can feel smaller. The ice cream itself is satisfying, with a creamy texture and flavors that cover the classics without trying to reinvent the wheel. We appreciated the variety of regular ice cream options, which gave us enough choices to find something that fit our mood. The soft serve selection is a little more limited, so we would not come specifically expecting a huge range of soft serve combinations, but the regular ice cream options make up for it with their quality and portion size. The shop can get crowded during busy summer evenings, especially when families and people from the neighborhood stop by. Since it is a smaller setup, the line can build up quickly, but the service moves along at a reasonable pace. The staff handled the steady flow efficiently, and even with a queue, the wait did not feel excessive. Parking and the surrounding area can also feel a little hectic during peak times, so walking over or visiting during a quieter time can make the experience easier. The train passing by adds a nice sense of place, and the outdoor seating, though limited, gives you a spot to enjoy your treat before heading off. Needham Junction Ice Cream is a fun local spot that delivers exactly what you would expect from a neighborhood ice cream stand. The combination of good portions, fair pricing, and the train station atmosphere makes it a nice summer stop, even if the soft serve options are not as extensive as some other places. It is the kind of place that fits naturally into a warm evening walk or a quick treat after a day out.

The black raspberry had good notes of raspberry flavor to it - a little bit sweet and a little bit tart, very refreshing on a hot summer day. Then the campfire s'mores was great! It tasted exactly like s'mores but in ice cream form, marshmallow and chocolate and a bit a a graham cracker flavor to it. They don't have much outdoor seating however as it is next to a train station.

We walked into a small, clean space with the feel of a longtime local favorite, the kind of place where the display case is filled with a mix of familiar classics and more adventurous offerings that make it hard to choose just one. The shop had a warm, unpretentious energy with a steady flow of customers coming in for a scoop, and the option to sample flavors before deciding made the decision process feel more interactive. The menu goes beyond the standard selections with unique flavors alongside classic favorites, making it easy to find something whether we were looking for a familiar scoop or something more adventurous. We tried a few options and found the Cocoa Joel standing out as a rich, chocolate-forward flavor that felt indulgent without being too heavy. The basil chocolate chip was another highlight, with a subtle herbal note that made it feel distinct from a typical chocolate chip scoop. Other popular choices like kulfi, sea salt caramel, mango, pistachio, and cookies and cream gave us plenty of variety to explore across multiple visits. The shop also serves milkshakes, sundaes, and customizable ice cream cakes, with generous portions that made even the smaller cup sizes feel satisfying. The quality of the ice cream was consistent, with a smooth, creamy texture that held up well against the flavors. The staff were friendly and patient throughout our visit, creating a welcoming atmosphere whether we were stopping in alone, with friends, or bringing the whole family. They offered samples without hesitation and guided us through the rotating selection without making the experience feel rushed. The shop itself is small and cozy, more focused on the ice cream than the seating, and it works best as a quick stop for a scoop rather than a place to linger for a long time. Overall, Rancatore's Ice Cream and Yogurt is an easy place to return to for homemade ice cream with a mix of classic and creative flavors. The quality of the ice cream, rotating flavor selection, and neighborhood atmosphere have helped make it a local staple for years, offering a dependable stop for a satisfying scoop whenever we are in the area.
