I first saw Yum Bunnies on UberEats and was intrigued. When I came to the store today, the first thing that stood out to me was how friendly the staff was. They were very patient, answered all our questions, and overall were delightful to talk to. The interior of the shop is also something that needs it's own appreciation post because the decorations make the shop look so much cooler too! As for the desserts -- in the dessert case, they had a series of "cakes in a jar," which is also what motivated me to come to the store. They had some seasonal flavors like Apple Cider, Pumpkin, Butterbeer, etc., and some standard flavors (Oreo, Earl Grey, Funfetti, etc.). Given that fall is in full swing, I opted to try the Butterbeer Cake in a Jar and honestly, I loved it! The frosting is a bit on the sweeter side (I am a huge fan of frosting, so no complaints from me). Both the cake and the frosting had a really nice butterbeer (butterscotch) flavor which wasn't overpowering, but it was very pleasant. Because the cake is kinda squished into the jar, it is a little "crumble-y" but the frosting really holds it together. I will definitely be coming back and I'm excited to try more flavors! read more

If I could give this place 3 1/2 stars, I would. This is nice bakery that creates handcrafted cupcakes and cakes. They do various designs and bright colors, which is really attention grabbing to the eye. Their prices are a little bit steep. They should update their site with their availability changes. For example, they were closed the entire week of Fourth of July, but it was not on your auto call system either when you called. If you place the order, we sure to check your spam box as it may go to your spam folder. This is very common apparently, but you don't find out until you don't hear a response from them. They should also post it's information on their website. Some of the cakes were good from the cake jars in some were okay. We have also use this place to order a specialty design cakes for my niece's birthday. The design on her birthday cake was amazing. The cake was OK. It's nice to try if you have a sweet tooth and want a great design, but be prepare to battle mis communication of information and maybe okay cake. read more

I've always wanted to try the cake jars I've seen on their Instagram page and I was finally able to visit after a trip to In A Pickle (only 15 minutes away!) Parking is available on the street. There is no lot. Yum Bunnies Cakery does custom cake orders, but also sells cake jars for walk ins. I walked in and was surprised by the size. The cakery is definitely small. The majority of the space holds the kitchen. The front section has room for a handful of visitors to stand or sit at one table. The room felt more intimate without feeling cramped. Since the Cakery focuses on custom orders, the customer space feels rightly sized. The owner Jessa is SUPER nice and funny! I loved talking to her about her 11 years (!!!) in this location and the history behind the cakery name. Now what you want to read about: the cake jars. They are kept in the fridge to be fresh. I chose the Unicorn Cake Jar and Cookie Monster Cake Jar. The Unicorn Cake Jar is vanilla cake with colored frosting. The Cookie Monster is blue dyed cake, vanilla frosting, and heat treated cookie dough. I let the cakes stay out for a couple of hours to be room temperature. When I dug into the Unicorn Cake Jar.... Oh my gosh! The softest and fluffiest cake I've ever tried. It was soft like angel food cake, but even fluffier when you bit into it. The texture was perfect. I can say honestly I'm not a big frosting person, but I licked up every last piece of this frosting. It wasn't chalky or crunchy. The frosting was smooth and sweet. And Cookie Monster? First time ordering a cake from Yum Bunnies. Ordering process was smooth. All communications were done via email. They were flexible on the pick up date. Ordered one red velvet cake picking up on Friday (2/11). The cake presentation was cute. The picking up process was good. The taste/flavor was very disappointing. The cake itself was very dry and crumbly. Overall too sweet and too dry. None of us could finish even one small slice. I have read & heard so many good things about Yum Bunnies so maybe my expectations were too high. However, $60 red velvet cake was not meeting anyone's expectation. Maybe we chose a wrong timing to order a cake for the first time ever from them, considering they might have been really busy with all of the Valentine's orders. Yum Bunnies is so delicious! The employees are also kind, professional, and funny. They are also FANTASTIC at making yummy things look like art! Seriously things look so beautiful you don't want to even touch them, so you take a ton of photographs and videos before eating! They also have so many flavors to choose from, for cake and also for frosting. Mine happens to be Funfetti with Buttercream. If you can imagine it they can create it. One word - AMAZING! Background: I'm in DC but planning a bridal shower in Boston. 1.5 weeks before the event, the other bakery who I booked with cancelled on me due to lack of manpower. While perusing (or frantically searching) through Yelp to find bakeries nearby, I came across Yum Bunnies. Running out of time, I give them a call and have a great conversation with Jessa who calms me down and is able to translate my loosely formed idea to reality. I told her that the theme was "Bridal Runway" and wanted something related to sewing as my sister, the bride, was making the BMs dresses and her own gown. Planning: Jessa works within my budget and tells me her ideas. Working together on what items to include, Jessa creates THE perfect cake, which I have included in the pics (it's the one that reads "Lisa" with the sewing items and "wicker" exterior). Jessa finished the cake and was completely professional. Even more so, Jessa was completely understanding and kind especially when we had to drive back 2x to fix the cake as the drive home was a bit bumpy and the cake got a tad damaged. Final Thoughts: The cake was not only beautifully designed - I still get compliments from guests to this day - but tasted delicious! We opted with the red velvet. About 8 years ago, I got my friend's birthday cake from Yum Bunnies. It was really well done and delicious (red velvet). Today I was in the neighborhood and had a hankering for red velvet, so I decided to stop in to feed the beast. The cupcake was perfection - moist, deep red color with that super dark cocoa taste, and the BEST cream cheese frosting. Yum Bunnies offers different frosting options for the red velvet, but everyone knows it ain't real red velvet unless it has cream cheese frosting. I went here with a super vague idea of what I wanted for my husband's 30th birthday cake. I just knew I wanted it to be Simpsons themed but a little more detailed than just a picture of Homer or Bart. I just rambled names of some fave characters, she wrote them down & told me when I could pick up the cake. I had the chocolate and vanilla cupcake and quite honestly I think a two year old can make better cupcakes than this, but I might be offending two year olds with this comparison. I apologize. This was m fourth attempt to find this cakery open in the last two weeks. Two of those days I missed the closing time by five minutes and one day I made sure to come by during business hours and it was closed! There are three sea lions at the foot of the cake, me taking a paraglide in the sky, the eternity river on the courtyard, and even the solar panels on top of the building! The cake is AMAZING! Yum Bunnies made us an amazing Firefly/Serenity cake that for our rehearsal dinner. I wanted to do something special for my groom and decided on a cake for him after we did a tasting at Jessa's shop. I could NOT believe what they had created when my father-in-law picked up and brought home the cake! Jessa and I agreed on a price and I sent her my thoughts on design early on. As we got closer she confirmed a few more things with me and we both decided I should be surprised along with my groom. The final product was incredible! Not only was the cake delicious (spice cake with salted caramel buttercream), but it was also a total replica of the ship from the television series Firefly! Five Stars for this place is an understatement! I am a big fan of anything cake so it is no surprise that I am pretty hard on cakerys. There is nothing worse then when you see a beautiful cake and cut a slice and the taste is lacking. I actually don't live any where near Yum Bunnies but have made the well worth it trip, multiple times for the assurance that I am going to get my money's worth. 95% of the time I am asked where these delicious and creative cakes come from, so it is no surprise that Yum Bunnies has a large following now on the South Shore (and we have plenty of cakerys around here) So to me that is saying a lot. Jessa (the owner) has a true love for what she does. She takes the time and works with you to ensure that you will be happy with her product. There have actually been times where I have given her a theme with little instruction and I have yet to be disappointed. The store is always clean and well maintained (sometimes I can be a germaphobe)! So a clean store is a good store! I highly recommend that you stop in and pay Jessa a visit. SIMPLE AMAZING! I have gotten three cakes there, and the quality, presentation and taste was top notch i would recommend her carrot cake to anyone. It is moist, with just the right taste. One word of 'warning' (if you can call it that). If ordering cupcakes, make sure you know what you are getting. I ordered a dozen cupcakes, mix of vanilla, chocolate and carrot. The frosting was great, she decorated them all different in sports themes (tennis call one one, baseball on another, etc). The carrot cake was amazing, just like the larger cakes The other two cupcake flavors, vanilla and chocolate, were almost like angel food cake. Light, airy and still moist (versus the heavy, dense carrot cake). This is not to say they were bad, they were still VERY tasty, just not what I was expecting. I was expecting the same heavy consistency as the carrot cake. So just a 'warning', make sure to ask questions when ordering - BUT, make sure to order something! Her work is amazing. creative, refreshing, colorful, and most important, TASTY! (if she has a picture book of other cakes, ask her to see it. She had one in the fridge there when I went, that was an elephant sitting up, and anotehr that looked like a boquet of flowers. I was walking up and down Belmont Street today, reveling in the sauna like conditions when I saw this store. I love the name, how can you not say Yum Bunnies without smiling? Come on, I dare you? You can't, can you? I went in and the first thing that caught my eye was that the kitchen was in plain sight. That's something I love about any deli/bakery, where you can see things being made...always a vote of confidence. They were short on stock (also I gather it isn't that much of a walk-in type place anyway) so I ordered two cupcakes (one vanilla, on chocolate) and asked the owner if she wouldn't mind either putting wax paper between the cupcakes or putting them in separate bags, as I am allergic to chocolate (yeah, I win bigtime). Not only did she put them in separate bags, but she put on different gloves when she applied the frosting to the cupcakes. That's right, the cupcakes were freshly frosted for me and she went the extra step of changing gloves to ensure that my cupcake didn't get any chocolate on it. That to me is awesome. I'm very aware about my food allergies, and I wouldn't have even requested that. My husband had his cupcake, and loved it. Light airy angelfood cake quality with rich flavored chocolate icing. If I were little and didn't know what it was I would ask my mom to take me here everyday as it relates to yumminess, bunnies and cakes..some of my favorite things in life. The red velvet was the best one. It was evenly moist with a delicious cream cheese frosting. The color was bold. The vanilla with vanilla frosting was second best. It had a very light texture, almost angel food like. The frosting on top was very sweet, not sure I would say it was butter cream but more like a whipped cream. The chocolate/chocolate was the driest of the bunch. It didn't have a big chocolate taste to it. Frosting was a whipped type also. All the cupcakes had minimal amount of frosting on them, which for me was good cause I tend to take off too much excess most bakeries give. The ladies running the shop were pleasant. They were preparing some good looking cakes ready for pickup. They were very skilled in fondant. I think all the cakes I saw had some crazy design with it. Besides the cakes to go they had about a couple dozen cupcakes in stock. It seems the type of place to pick up an order or perhaps get a cupcake to try before buying a big cake.The cupcakes were only $1.25 each. I don't know what it is about the cake-decorating industry that makes it mandatory to serve tasteless cake at events like weddings, etc, but this place doesn't listen to that noise.
