When it comes to smog stations - they are ask essentially the same. A state sponsored business that makes sure your car is not a menace to society. I think their prices are probably set by the state as well. What that means, is that service and availability are the real differentiators. In this case, I highly recommend Kat at The Smog Center. I had to find a STAR certified shop to smog my truck this year, and the place I had been going couldn't do the STAR inspection. Kat was great. She got me in on a walk in, and had me back on the road so fast, I went home and got my car that needed a smog check too. She was friendly, professional, and made the whole process painless. She is on top of how to smog and getting cars to pass with "flying colors". She often can put you in the "queue" and because she is so fast it's like you're in and out in no time. No appointment needed and staff is incredibly friendly. I stopped by last week to get my car smogged. I was what looked like the 3rd person there waiting. Even then it maybe took 15-20 minutes. After my car passed, I paid and they took car of the rest. All the information got sent to the DMV. I came gone, went online and paid for my registration and received my tags in the mail (a few weeks later). I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing to get their car smogged. read more

Dont go here if your car has been lowered. The person working there asked if my car has been lowered and when I affirmatively replied I was told to go to another business nearby instead. I dont know why the inspection couldn't be done, as I wasn't given an explanation. None of the emission components that need to be seen during the visual inspection are located underneath the car (it's all visible from the engine bay) and as an automotive service provider I find it odd the business doesn't have the means or desire to jack up a vehicle. I went to a different shop where the smog inspection was completed quickly without the need to lift the vehicle. I'm all for a business owner's right to refuse service where permitted by law, but due to the fact that this business makes no mention of this obnoxious no lowered car policy - anywhere - I'm leaving this review in hopes that others in a similar position dont have to waste their time or gas driving to this business. read more

So I lost the smoke shop in Windsor. I have been going to for the last six years. I don't know what happened but the scary part is opening the phone to look for somebody new there are so many people out there but found the Smog Center, made an appointment for 11 o'clock today. Walked in short little wait. Two minutes took my keys. I literally sat down on the couch when I heard my car start up and she had told me it's gonna be an hour I was good with that, but before I knew it. She was done 20 minutes in and out. As a female I liked going in and seeing a woman working on a car and then coming to the counter to help me. Sometimes when you take your car in as a female places you can feel taken advantage of or flat out ignored, but not here. I really like this smog place. Not only is the owner a woman, but she is also one of the smog tech's! The place is clean, and even better, the bathroom is spotless. I have had 3 smogs done here now and this is the only place I go to for smog's. As a woman, it can be a little overwhelming to walk in to car repair places. I never felt that way with with this place. I was treated with respect, the smog didn't take too long, and I wasn't made to feed dumb because I had questions. Overall a good experience. Kat was amazing. She was incredibly kind on the phone and even nicer in person. I flunked my smog since I had auto body work done and she told exactly what to do. Essentially I just needed to drive it because it sat in the shop. She allowed me to bring it back and retest for free. She was so fantastic and her advice did the trick. I passed!
