Their hot Cheetos Mac & cheese is *chefs kiss*

The best BBQ place I've been to in the SFV, it's about time that I write a review for The Smokey Cow. I can't tell you how incredible this BBQ place is, it honestly has become our favorite place to go to on Fridays when we're craving BBQ (sometimes we go every Friday, no shame lol) The brisket is amazing!! The beef ribs are juicy, tender, and full of flavor & their BBQ sauces are soo good! My favorite one is the spicy one! 10/10 would recommend you to try this place for a Friday night dinner. Customer service is also 10/10 and you can't beat that. We've been going for a good while now when they used to be in front of their house. Now that they moved location, we're still here!

Happened to see the Smokey Cow on Yelp and I just have to review. Everything about it is amazing! Location: The Smokey Cow is located on Sherman Way. The cross street is Costello Ave. it's a pop up tent in front of the elementary school. The food: we ordered the brisket and pull pork sandwich with a side order of mac n cheese. Each sandwich comes with coleslaws, pickles, chips, bbq sauce, and lots of meat! The meats are amazing, they are very well cooked! It was soo good that it just melt in your mouth! The food assembly was very well balanced and flavorful. Even their chips taste amazing. The service: the owner was extremely friendly! He even let us try the meat before we order and each sample was huge! They were very accommodating, which said a lot about their business! Overall: The Smokey Cow is truly a hole in the wall. The pop up tent looks doubtful with everything in coolers...BUT don't judge its exterior. If you're a meat lover, you gotta try this place. Everything about this place is amazing. I'm a fan of supporting local businesses and I will definitely support the Smokey Cow again!

A solid spot to pick up some BBQ! He's parked up on the side of the road under a canopy/tent along with a helper. We've tried everything on the menu and everything was pretty darn tasty! Everything was flavored/spiced nicely and juicy. My fav is the ribs! The pull pork is my second fav. You can taste the TLC he puts into his food. The mac and cheese topped with beef is worth checking out too if you're okay with going a little heavy. The coleslaw isn't my style so we usually ask for double chips when we get a plate. The pickles on the side are the salty, sour kind and not the sweet kind. You can tell he's a hard worker and super kind as well as his worker. They seem happy and appreciative of your business. A line forms pretty early on and he sells out on the popular items, so get there early!

Beautiful baby back ribs! Smoked to perfection.

The most amazing pop-up I have ever seen! The Smokey Cow is very unique in that they make their own smokers, they only use the best wood and they use high quality meats for their operation. There's nothing here from Restaurant Dépôt or other restaurant supply shops, this is a top grade pop-up!!! I sampled the baby back, beef ribs and brisket that are all made using a in-house dry-rub and are smoked for 12 hours! Trust me when I tell you that it's worth waiting for them every Friday evening. This is a pop-up so you will have to follow them on Instagram to get the dates and times. While you're at it, enjoy the great pics of all their meats. I love this place!!!

Yay! Finally good BBQ! I'll m from Oklahoma and understand good meat. I mean it. The BBQ in CA normally is trash but these guys know what they are doing. I can't always make it to every Friday session but I normally try to make it a thing. There is usually a small line and a few minute wait time. They sell out around 9pm at the time of this writing so get their early. The sandwiches are legit. Just stack up some pulled pork and call it a day. The ribs are solid as well. Brisket is a winner. Looking forward to seeing these guys make it.

Fall off the bone Beef Ribs

Our order: 1. Beef Ribs 2. Brisket Sandwich 3. Pulled Pork plate 4. Macaroni and Cheese 1. Beef ribs were amazing! Tender and literally fell off the bone right in front our eyes when he placed them on the scale. 2. Brisket Sandwich was piled high with slices of meat. So juicy and delicious. 3. Pulled Pork was just pulled pork. 4. Macaroni and Cheese was not as cheesy as I had hoped. Tasted better with BBQ sauce drizzled over it. Their spicy BBQ sauce is really good. Just the right amount of heat. Great customer service.

Finally got to try this place today after a long wait and it was totally worth it. My wife is a complete Beef Rib snob and she said these were the best ribs she's ever had. I made a point to go today as they were giving out free Mac and cheese for their anniversary which was an extra bonus on top of the amazing ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Both sauces they gave me were great as well. Luckily I was the second person in line so once they opened up it was fairly quick. If you don't look closely enough you'll drive right past it as I did. Literally just a small tent setup on a sidewalk in Van Nuys. Harry, the owner, was extremely friendly and even let me sample the meat before buying. They only accept cash or Venmo so make sure you've got one or the other before making the trek. Highly recommend!

Wow ! This place is absolutely delicious, it's a small pop up tent and you can definitely miss it on your way there so you gotta keep an eye out for the banner & tent. They have some amazing bbq! It is absolutely juicy and delicious. I tried the pork, brisket, & ribs. I was not a fan of the pork, was a bit dry for me but the other two were fantastic! They sell out sometime super early so it's best to get there when they open. Everyone should try this place!

We were charged $30 per person, which felt very reasonable given current California pricing. Pickup was smooth and well organized. We ordered a variety of items including pork and beef ribs, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw--everything was flavorful and well prepared, and the food was a hit with the entire group. The staff was a pleasure to work with--friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout the process. We visited the Burbank location on Glenoaks and ordered the 2 Piece White plate ($19) which comes with baked beans and coleslaw, along with sweet teas. We went medium spice and it was the perfect call -- enough heat to let you know it's there without overwhelming the incredible flavor of the chicken itself. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat was extraordinarily juicy -- this is some of the best fried chicken in the city, full stop. Fresh, never frozen, natural and hormone-free chicken fried in peanut oil -- and you can taste the difference. The baked beans were sweet and comforting -- a perfect Southern companion to the chicken. The coleslaw rounded out the plate nicely and the sweet tea was exactly what you want in a spot like this. Our waitress was exceptionally accommodating and made excellent recommendations that guided us in the right direction -- that kind of attentive, knowledgeable service makes the whole experience feel special. The atmosphere is old school diner all the way -- checkered tablecloths, no frills, just great food and genuine Southern hospitality. The whole experience felt like a step back in time in the best possible way. At $19 for a two piece white meat plate with two sides this is outstanding value for the quality you're getting. As a loyal customer of this establishment for over two decades, I have consistently visited the…read moredeli and meats department at least once a month. However, I am compelled to rate this establishment one star due to a particularly unpleasant experience with a female deli employee whose first name begins with the letter "J." Despite my frequent visits, the overall customer service in the deli and meats department has declined. The season butchers have been replaced with individuals lacking the necessary experience and customer courtesy that were previously present. Over the past three months, I have encountered the same issues with this particular employee. It is important to note that the fee charged for slicing a Tri Tip into a carton container is not the primary concern. The issue lies in the employee's behavior and attitude, specifically their unwillingness to properly wrap the sliced meat. This has occurred on multiple occasions, most recently at the checkout counter when the cashier pull the foil-wrapped package from the plastic bag causing the juices of the meat to spill all over the counter. This has happened to me every time this employee has served me. The Tri Tip sliced meat is dry and devoid of juices due to this careless employee's failure to wrap the meat carefully. It is imperative that this situation be addressed. Management should provide this employee, "J," with proper training on how to wrap sliced food correctly. Additionally, it is crucial the ambiance that all employees, including the deli and butcher employees, maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor. A salutation is always appreciated. Despite these concerns, the BBQ remains outstanding as always.

I'll go one by one as I really didn't skimp on any of it..... First off, the brisket was so tender I couldn't even get it on to my plate originally. I had to keep stabbing at it with a fork and it just kept falling into pieces it was magical. The flavor was amazing with the perfect combination of that smokey and fire grilled taste. Didn't even need to use any sauce, but don't sleep on their BBQ sauce it had the perfect flavor of not too acidic and not too sugary. It's hard to stop eating it. I had to follow it up with the brisket quesadillas because.... well because they were staring at me and I had to show them who was boss.... Again, insane flavor combo and pleasantly addicting. Next move I had to throw down on a couple of hot wings to make sure my taste buds were still jumping and ready for the upcoming situation. Just for reference purposes, nice little kick with a bit of smokey flavor. Could've eaten 20 in one sitting but was continuing on my path of BBQ destruction. We now veered over to the baby back ribs .... I think I ate 10 before I realized what was going on. Yet again, the flavor was perfect and the meat was cooked to perfection. It didn't need any sauce, but I was a big fan of loading up on the BBQ sauce for these bad boys..... Next I shifted my fat eyed focus over to the tri-tip. It had that perfect pink center looking like a medium rare meaty super model. I went a different route here and dipped it into this horseradish sauce concoction that I never seen or heard of in my life. I don't know what was in that sauce, but it was phenomenal. I could have literally eaten this stuff by itself, but everyone was looking so I didn't want to make it weird. The tri-tip itself didn't even need any sauce and was super juicy, but that sauce just elevated the taste to another level. Now we decided to go a different location on the farm pay tribute to some smoked chicken. I had to dabble with both the BBQ sauce and the horseradish sauce as my dipping/smothering choices for this tasty bird. Couldn't even tell you how great it was without the sauce, since my mind was already fading trying to fight off my meat sweat coma. Lastly for our protein portion of the evening, I had to top it off with some of that pulled pork. Now this was extremely flavorful and some of the best I've had in quite some time. I did however enjoy lathering it up with that BBQ sauce like some of his fellow plate mates I already devoured. I will give a shout out to the sides, even though I only had a brief taste of each as I was going hard on the proteins. High fives to the potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, street corn, corn bread, tator tots and collard greens. I may have possibly missed one or 2, but after gorging on disgusting amounts of food, you tend to forget things. Had to make sure to sneak some of those greens in there so my heart didn't give out.... I however did not indulge in the chips and salsa that were there since I didn't want to come off as a pig..... So instead (as I forgot to mention previously), I took the queso and poured it over some pulled pork because that's what needed to happen at that moment.... Boom! For the grand finale, we had this banana pudding dessert that literally put me over the top. If I could openly cuss on this platform, I genuinely would.... It was absolutely orgasmic. That's right, you read that correctly. I don't know what they put in that thing, but to call it amazing would be an understatement. Pretty sure I blacked out at some point while finishing my bowl of dessert. As you can read, I was not a fan of any of the food in any way shape or form.(Sarcasm ...) I look forward to going back, but I will need to wait until I awake from this painful food coma I've been fighting off since the ending of the World Cup match watching USA beat the breaks off of Bosnia with one man down. Much love on the food and I happily dedicate this extra fat fold on my stomach and the 8lb weight gain to AJ's BBQ.
