Being a 70 year old BBQ connasuer from the South, who stops at any BBQ restaurant I see, anywhere in the world, I was fortunate to find this place & Joe, yesterday. 10 out of 10!!!

Don't sleep on Uncle Andre's! Everything is GREAT and can't beat the prices. Portions are nice size. They have lunch specials daily Monday to Friday from 12-2.

Half rack of baby backs, Mac and cheese, and candied yams

Finally tried this place after having it on my list for probably about a year. Ordered two half rack baby back plates. Both with Mac and cheese, one with corn, one with yams (because they were all out of beans, sadly). It took close to 20 minutes from when I ordered to when I was out the door with our food and then about another 20 minutes until I was home and our food was still really hot. Mac and cheese was tasty and had a homemade feel. Yams were good but could have been a little sweeter, but that's just a personal preference. I was actually taken aback when I opened the box and saw how much meat was on those rib bones! The bark was on point! The meat was perfectly tender (not quite falling off the bone but close) and cooked well. I personally prefer a little more of a sweet saucy bbq rib, though. These are definitely not sweet at all and are only ever so slightly sticky. Again, personal preference and could be remedied by just having a little of my own bbq sauce on hand. Overall, it was tasty and the guy who took my order was super friendly. And for the price, you can't beat it! (21 dollars for a half slab and two sides). They take cash and zelle. Which I knew the zelle part before I ordered because I wanted to try the peach cobbler but didn't have enough cash on me to add that on. Will definitely be back to try some other items like the brisket and the fried catfish!

(Took Out 02/13/24 TU @ 4:00pm): Uncle Dre's BBQ for Fat Tuesday! For my carnivore fix before the start of Lent season that resulted in my annual cleanse of no alcohol and meat, I sought out Uncle Andre's BBQ as a new BBQ place for me to try. The pictures and reviews on Yelp sold me, and coincidently I was working in the area which made it very convenient. I always harped on the fact that there were no BBQ joints in my Silver Lake hipsterhood (I guess it wasn't healthy enough), but the San Fernando Valley had ample choices. Would Uncle Andre send me into BBQ bliss!? PURCHASE 6pc Half Baby Back Ribs Dinner w/Mac & Cheese & Macaroni Salad Sides ($20.95): Each rib was meaty, sizable, and very tender as everything fell off the bone. The sauce was slightly sweet and tangy and just enough to cover the meat. Under normal conditions, I would've ordered a full rack and had some leftovers the next night, but I couldn't do that this time around. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1ja-2fKFckizb62h4gL-5Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side Mac & Cheese (Included): Creamy, gooey, hearty, and peppery this was a lovely meal in itself with plenty of extra cheese. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=SBjW5iisuhgPMHv0Ooft4g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side Macaroni Salad (Included): Wonderfully firm pasta with barely any mayonnaise (a plus!) but it seriously needed some pineapple (that's how I liked it). https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HKyS_A5EKXvQ3YXRCrK70g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw 2pc Chicken BBQ Dinner w/Baked Beans & Cole Slaw Sides ($14.95): A gigantic breast and thigh were the parts I received, and I couldn't be happier! The meat was so moist and tender while the sauce was the same as the ribs. I stuffed myself with all of this goodness. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HL0zPtcUP_l3F7kxmeQrXQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side Cole Slaw (Included): I usually wasn't a cole slaw fan, this was actually nice, crunchy, a tad peppery, some spice, and not very soupy - well done! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=9HMOggUkSnmncimtCaMYBQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side BBQ Baked Beans (Included): Soft beans simmered in the lovely aforementioned barbecue sauce, I was tooting my own horn a couple of hours later. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CPI6t7VI5YsnL7fZI-IztQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Peach Cobbler ($5.00): An enjoyable dessert with chunks of crust and peach, plenty of cinnamon, served warm, and all of the gooey juices was simply soothing. I wished I had an entire pie or leftovers. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uB-B0JkdIOeXccsQcQLUUA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Credit Card Fee ($1.00): It was all good! SERVICE I was greeted by two gentlemen behind the tiny order counter. I quickly knew what I wanted and placed my order. I took a seat and relaxed while I watched the constant flow of customers who picked up their orders. About 15 minutes later, my order was packed and ready to go. Everything was easy and straightforward - greatly appreciated! PARKING (FREE) They shared a small parking lot with a handful of other businesses in a tiny strip mall. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drags of Moorpark St. (where I parked), Colfax Ave., and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quaint eatery that was mainly a takeout restaurant with a couple of booths and chairs/tables https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1pSwMsDTkPAZ5iWHN53iKg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw to enjoy your meal onsite. Many framed celebrity photos hung on peach-colored walls. Easily legible menus https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rCCBmMjUjmRnUu8TMJZCqw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw hung above the order counter. A decent amount of natural light came through the large glass wall windows and doors while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There was one TV while disco, hip-hop, and soul music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mHuL2svdIenqHwmNjVxR1A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Uncle Andre's BBQ happily led me into Lent, and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their Southern food and varied menu. I loved the portion sizes and service, while I felt the prices were maybe a tad high (but dammit, the food was good!). And of course, I was happy to support another small mom & pop local business! I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $46.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... Uncle Andre..... where you been all my life?? This place is small with 4 tables for dining. I ordered combo platter with greens and mac and cheese and the piece of chicken fried. I must say this is the best bbq I have had since moving to Los Angeles. Finally a place that uses seasoning. The fried chicken, seasoned well while being crispy and juicy. Brisket was thinly sliced and tasty. Hot link.... I'm mad I didn't order two of them I'm wanting more. Babybackribs are good, but I enjoyed the other meats better. those greens though....so flavorful. Mac and cheese was also good. We have a peach cobbler that we have not tried yet but I am sure I won't be disappointed. Parking was my biggest complaint about this restaurant. I would bring someone with you so they can run in and grab your order.

Nice, friendly, family oriented restaurant and the food speaks for itself!! This is one of my favorite BBQ places to go!! Highly recommended to all!! Service is great! There's several options when it comes to BBQ, and the sides are amazing!!

The sides in my opinion were okayyy.. However, 4 stars to Uncle Andre's because they have a niche that cannot be found elsewhere. Their bbq is the type of bbq you only find at cookouts. The bbq immediately transported me to a summer day at the park with friends and family.

A bit on the sweeter side but moist and delicious. Potato salad? A no, a big no, way too bland. Then I tried the Mac & cheese, something most BBQ spots never seem to get quite right. That was the verdict for this very dry side here as well. So what about the Tri-tip? They were completely out of their Brisket by the way, other than their burnt ends. And that wasn't much to speak of. Nor was the Tri-tip minus the sauce which is given on the side. The sauce was up to par. The only protein that was pretty decent was the chicken, even the breast was moist and tender. But the cornbread, sauce and chicken weren't enough to save this sinking ship. The wife and I also shared a side of their way too watered down, and poorly seasoned yams. Rather mushy with we guessed way too much maple syrup, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and who knows what else. I don't believe we finished any more than half of our sides. Just all around disappointing and we definitely won't be back.

We hadn't visited since February, 2020. Before the pandemic might as well have been 10 years ago, if the world shut down 6 years ago. We were overdue for a followup visit. Judging by how the food went down, we were sore for it. We ordered the Big Tex: four meats and four sides - tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork and links; kale greens, bbq beans, mac and cheese and fries. We opted for the cornbread in the roll slot. It should be the top meats in your order, by premium scale and availability, but more often than they should be, the brisket/tri-tip selections are, 90%, obligatory orders. I think I have a love/hate relationship with the way LA treats the pepperoni pizza of bbq meats. Swinging Door broke us off proper though. Not too fatty. Great tenderism. And the accompanying sauce complemented the smoked all stars, rather than compensated for lack of flavor. Didn't stop me from loving their Whiskey bbq sauce though. The beans were a true bbq side, swimming in a mild sauce and containing lovely chunks of link. And the kale greens - sheesh - I think they might've switched to kale since our first visit. An effective exercise in alternative ruffage that holds seasoning and jucies for a similar bbq/soulfoud bite. We live further away now. Took the food to go, to prevent the intermittent rain from foiling more of our plans. It traveled well. And since I'm using our leftover bbq sauce on every other meal I cook, I'd say we successfully made do with our lunch substitute.

Thankfully we finally caved in because we've been sleeping on this place for years! It's located off of Lankershim Blvd & Academy Way, basically next to the Laemmle Noho 7 and the Saban Media Center. Bruxie was kind of hard to gauge on how to order - there's a walk-up window for ordering and pick-up orders, but employees can also walk right up to you and place your order for you. You can also order online ahead, so yeah slightly confusing but as long as you put your order in you're golden. They have four big tables outside along with counter seating on the sidewalk. If it gets too hot or cold, they also have seating inside an old train car that is purely counters only. We sat inside the train car, but the only caveat is that people are constantly going in/out and they sometimes leave the door open. They also have a water station inside the train car if you want to cool off. My wife and I both ordered the Kickin' "Nashville" Hot Chicken Sandwich and we shared the Loaded Waffle-Cut Fries. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time - if you're dining there, the employees bring out your food wherever you are and provide plastic utensils along with sauces. The hot chicken sandos live up to their namesake, packing quite a kick! The loaded waffle fries hit the spot. If you're in NoHo looking for some good chicken & waffles, Bruxie will satisfy! We can't wait to come back and try more of their menu! They're open late too if you have some late night cravings (they close at midnight Thurs, Fri & Sat). There's street parking or you can park at the garage of the Saban Media Center.
