Just leaving another 5 star review because this is probably one of the most consistent spots for good BBQ in LA.

Valley Village, Ca Located on the corner of Colfax Avenue and Moorpark St in a small plaza. Limited parking and no public facility. It's mostly pick up and go. We ordered the Combo Plate - which is comprised with Brisket, Sausage, Chicken, and Ribs. And 2 sides. The food was okay. I have tried better ones. The ribs were tough and not falling off the bones. The sides we got were Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad. They were both okay as well. My SO and I are planning to comeback for the sausages. It was the meat the we liked most from the combo plate that we ordered. It is self service. No free tap water. They charge $1 for card payments. The place was empty when we came. It was pretty hot that day and no fan, so we sat down near the door to feel some airflow coming from outside. *ATM machine available inside. read more

I would say this place is merely mediocre, especially compared with others in the area (Swinging Door, Hoggly Woggly). The warm brisket sandwich came on a cold roll, which made the whole thing lukewarm, the meat was good but not great, the coleslaw was way over sweet, and the fries were plentiful but just okay. Got some 1/2 chicken dinners BBQ and fried, and wow! Not a bad bite in our order. The Mac n cheese was amazing, I don't think I've ever had Mac n cheese that I wouldn't change until last night it was a perfect bite! The red beans n rice was the best I ever had, full of flavor just enough spice and I could not quit eating until my dish was empty. Now let's talk about these greens, I was a little nervous I didn't see any meat pieces in there, I think they might be vegan so I approached cautiously, but after that first bite my mind was at ease. If you read my original review you'll see that I clearly say I'll be back for sure. Well, true to my word, I've ordered from Uncle Andre's regularly - mostly the catfish with potato salad for both sides, even though they have excellent other sides - their potato salad is addictive. I've had their excellent pulled pork sandwich, and I'll eventually get around to the ribs, but I just love that fried catfish. Great tartar sauce, too, and I cannot tell you how much lousy tartar sauce there is in LA. If you haven't been to Uncle Andre's, take a chance - you can thank me later. read more

Finally tried this place after having it on my list for probably about a year. Ordered two half rack baby back plates. Both with Mac and cheese, one with corn, one with yams (because they were all out of beans, sadly). It took close to 20 minutes from when I ordered to when I was out the door with our food and then about another 20 minutes until I was home and our food was still really hot. Mac and cheese was tasty and had a homemade feel. Yams were good but could have been a little sweeter, but that's just a personal preference. I was actually taken aback when I opened the box and saw how much meat was on those rib bones! The bark was on point! The meat was perfectly tender (not quite falling off the bone but close) and cooked well. I personally prefer a little more of a sweet saucy bbq rib, though. These are definitely not sweet at all and are only ever so slightly sticky. Again, personal preference and could be remedied by just having a little of my own bbq sauce on hand. Overall, it was tasty and the guy who took my order was super friendly. And for the price, you can't beat it! (21 dollars for a half slab and two sides). They take cash and zelle. Which I knew the zelle part before I ordered because I wanted to try the peach cobbler but didn't have enough cash on me to add that on. Will definitely be back to try some other items like the brisket and the fried catfish! read more

Uncle Andre..... where you been all my life?? This place is small with 4 tables for dining. I ordered combo platter with greens and mac and cheese and the piece of chicken fried. I must say this is the best bbq I have had since moving to Los Angeles. Finally a place that uses seasoning. The fried chicken, seasoned well while being crispy and juicy. Brisket was thinly sliced and tasty. Hot link.... I'm mad I didn't order two of them I'm wanting more. Babybackribs are good, but I enjoyed the other meats better. those greens though....so flavorful. Mac and cheese was also good. Uncle Andre's BBQ is in my "Big 3" of BBQ places in the Valley. I would categorize it as backyard bbq. The type of bbq you would get at your Uncle Andre's house or the bbq at the park from a family reunion. The food tastes like home. My go to is the combo bbq plate so that I can get a taste of everything. Comes with ribs, bbq or fried chicken, brisket, and hot links with two sides. I would recommend the greens and mac & cheese. Hands down, the best Soulfood in the San Fernando Valley. Uncle Andre's has been in this same location for over 30 years and serves up the best crispy fried catfish, fried chicken you can find in #SFV. Everything is made from scratch! They have Gumbo on Fridays! Prices are good. Portions are solid! There is a shared parking lot and at times it can get full. It's small inside but does have some seating. Most people go for takeout. My wife and I had a poolside party for 50 people last night. Uncle andre's bbq provided the ribs and cornbread for the party. People could not stop talking about the ribs and the cornbread! And I found both of them over the top! Some of the tastiest ribs ever, and incredibly moist cornbread. I almost never eat cornbread because it's so dry, but oh my God, it was exquisite. We do this party once a year, and we'll continue to use them. And i'm sure the other items on their menu are equally as good. read more

This place is Amazing! As soon as I walked in and smelled the barbecue I knew it was going to be good. I'm pescatarian so I had the catfish. I can't remember the last time I had catfish that good! I usually pour hot sauce all over. I didn't do that, it was great without it. I also had the greens and Mac and cheese. Both were so damn good. I was humming and dancing... that's how you know the food is good. The guy I was with had the ribs, brisket and chicken with Mac and cheese and beans... he enjoyed it thoroughly, that he ordered the same plate to go...lol. The only thing I was mad at is that I just found this place and it's been there since the 90's! One more thing I was mad at is that they ran out of the peach cobbler and banana pudding. The bbq shredded chicken sandwich is so good! It's juicy and flavorful ! Pair it with the seasoned thick cut fries it comes with it' so yum! But get a side of their collard greens wow so flavorful mixture of sweet and spice and everything nice! I would say go for lunch tho cause they have amazing specials and I think by the evening they are out of a lot! I had a hankering for ribs and ordered from Uncle Andre's`...I'm happy to say that Joseph is still the cook extraordinaire cooking up a B-B-Q delight! Everything was prepared to perfection. The baby back ribs were tender and juicy, the fries were utterly delicious and the cole slaw had just the right amount of flavor...I ate every single morsel. I have been wanting to come to Uncle Andre's BBQ for a very long time. Finally, yesterday I tried this place. Didn't meat my expectation. Food was good, not the best, customer service was semi friendly. They could have tried to be more personable, approachable and friendly. Place was very clean, including the kitchen. A bit pricy for my taste and pocket. For the price that they charge for 2 meat combo plus 2 side orders ($26.95) plus a dollar for a credit card charge. Not to mention they only take credit card during the week. Weekends is CASH ONLY!! They charged me $1.00 for a regular 16.9 oz water w/out telling me. The employee said they didn't have tap water and no ice. Especially being super hot outside. What kind of restaurant does NOT have tap water and ice?? Plastic utensils only. How are you supposed to cut your meat with a plastic knife? Joseph said if they use real utensils the cost will go up. WHAT?? I may return to give them a 2nd chance to improve themselves or I may go back to 4 of my favorite bbq places such as Smokehouse, Tam O'Shanter, Lala's Argentine Grill, Damon's Steak House. Just to name a few. They also have all types of food. Not only bbq, and charge maybe couple of dollars more. But it is SO WORTH IT!!! This place is overrated! read more
