We hired Smokin' Burrito for our wedding reception of about 40 people. They were already set-up with apps by the time we arrived to our reception space, and everything looked so beautiful. They provided our cucumbers and hummus, what could be an easy tray, in such a lovely platter and formation. Our dinner was a fajita bar and it was spectacular. What a great choice for wedding food!! My partner and I actually ate dinner and we got a lot of compliments on the food. They made our cake as well and nailed it. This is an email I wrote to Caroline after our wedding last year in April. She's so nice but the food she brought to the wedding was awful. After having tacos and apps at a few other weddings, we got screwed. And I never heard back from Caroline and no refunds were given. Dear Caroline, Given the circumstances and quality of services provided at our wedding, we find you in breach of contract. We are prepared to seek legal counsel if we do not hear from you. Starting off with a $200 fee for the tasting and a final bill of $3943.94, we expected punctuality, professionalism, a beautiful display, and amazing food. Unfortunately, we were greatly disappointed with our experience. We also received feedback from family and friends who were witness to some seriously inappropriate behavior from your staff. 1. The Smokin' Burrito staff arrived extremely late 2. Security and venue staff were served before our guests and were not even contracted to be served during our event 3. Your staff ate food from the serving trays with their hands on the floor during dinner 4. Two of your staff helped themselves to our dessert table DURING the dinner, desserts were not even open to guests at that point 5. Family and guests were told they were limited to 2 tacos per serving, although we budgeted for 130 guests and only had 100 guests in attendance 6. Family and guests were denied the amount of food requested (beans, rice, etc.) 7. There was no menu making clear what everything was, as promised, and guests were not told what they were being served 8. The quality of the food was not satisfactory, we had such a great experience during our tasting but we did not eat the same meal at our wedding 9. Many of our guests left the event hungry, and went out to get food after because they were still hungry and did not feel inclined to eat anymore of what was leftover 10. A family member tried to have plates prepared for Brennen's grandparents and were told they were not allowed to 11. Serving trays were basic aluminum trays I, myself, did not eat my plate of food. The tortillas were dry, the meats did not have the same delicious flavor as they did during the tasting. And while you and your staff were happy to get Brennen and I everything we needed, our guests did not have the luxury of the same experience. For the grand expense of your services, these things should not have been an issue. We were expecting an outstanding and exciting meal. Our guests should have been served whatever they wanted without being regulated, there should have been a menu on the table so guests knew what they were being served, and your staff should have been properly trained and prepared to act professionally while on site at our event. We are not expecting to discuss what staff was paid, but we need some kind of refund for the money we spent on the actual product as it was ultimately not what we paid for; it was not a $4000 meal. We feel that it would be fair to receive a refund as services rendered were very poor and the quality and amount of food was not commensurate with what we paid for. You also said the price would be adjusted per head which was not done and our guest count was 30 people less than what we paid for. We should at least be refunded for the tasting fee which is normally waived when a vendor is hired for an event. read more

Mmmmm....... For my 600th review, I chose The Smokin Burrito!!! It's 9am and I am thinking about their burritos for lunch... I typically find this food truck on Friday's near the water tower downtown (across from the courthouse). Out of ALL of the wonderful food trucks displayed on Fridays, I consistently come back to The Smokin' Burrito. You WILL wait a little bit for your food. Be patient. Anticipate at least 10 minutes. Go take a walk. Eat a chip. Mingle with the community. Read a book. Check your social media. Get your napkins. Call your mom. Just find a way to distract yourself in anticipation for what you're about to eat. I've ordered the catfish taco with mango salsa and it is so damn good. I could eat 42 of these. It's so good. A tad pricy and this is the ONLY reason I'm not ordering 42. I have no self control. But my FAVORITE is the mac daddy burrito. Is so big and just taste like everything you want it to taste like!!! It has big smoky chunks of tri tip, gooey cheesy noodles... it's glorious. Anticipate to wait and pay more than you typically do for food trucks, but this place makes it worth it!!! read more

Aaron, D'Amber, and thier crew did a fantastic job catering our wedding. We did a little bit of searching for a caterer, but when we met them, we didn't have to search anywhere else. The price was great, and the food was better. My wife and I did not get to try any appetizers due to the fast moving pace before and after our ceremony, but almost every one of our guests went out of their way to praised them. The main course was outstanding. It's been over a week and some of our family and friends are still talking about how great the food was. After visiting a local brewery, I was finally able to try The Smokin Burrito. Their menu consists of a variety of options from tacos, burritos, loaded nachos, loaded fries and chicken options. On this occasion, I tried the McDaddy Burrito and the Cali burrito. The McDaddy burrito was a HUGE burrito filled with the yummiest of things. It had barbecued, yummy smoky meat with lots of cheesy mac and cheese. The meat tasted so fresh and flavorful and the mac and cheese made the burrito even better. It was topped with a spicy sauce which was just perfect. It wasn't too overwhelming spicy, it was just right. The other burrito, the Cali burrito, was just as yummy but it includes French fries inside. It really wasn't the typical burrito specially when it came to flavor. Your usual burrito has meat which usually just blends in, but the smokey flavor of this one was just so different. Prices were very very reasonable for the amount of food that is given. As far as service, service was excellent at the food truck. The girls who were serving were very attentive. Overall, I'm giving this place five stars since everything was so great. Food truck plus mexican barbeque fusion how could you go wrong? i decided on the taco truck throw dowm combo which came with smoked catfish taco, mac daddy, and spicy serrano chicken taco. I was most excited about the catfish taco, but was dissapointed in the taste. The mango over powered all the other flavors. The mac Daddy was next on my list because it was tri tip topped with mac and cheese; how could you go wrong? Mac and cheese was plain with no flavor which was a dissapointment. The Smoken Burrito was our first choice to cater our wedding reception and we're not sorry we chose them. Although we had never been there they had so many good reviews we thought we'd give them a shot. They did have a few bad reviews as well so we knew it was a bit of a gamble because we didn't have time to do a taste testing, but we soon found out that those reviews couldn't have been further from the truth. Their food was amazing! A few people told us not to care if the food was bad because its wedding food and it wasn't suppose to be good, but that didn't sit well with me. So much of our lives consists of fellowshipping with good friends and family over food. Food is important and it meant a lot to us to have our guests enjoy it. We were shooting for good at best but this establishment went far beyond that with more than just food. Firstly, their communication was excellent; I can't tell you how frustrating bad communication can be if you've never experienced it yourselves. Next, the prices were a steal, I would expected to pay way for the quality of the food but it was amazingly affordable. We rented a coffee maker/dispenser and they brought coffee, cups, and other stuff just incase we forgot... who does that? Our original venue for the ceremony got flooded and we had to make a few last minute changes in the time schedule and location, they were completely fine with it and they were extremely flexible with everything. In fact, they came with extra supplies for anything we might have needed and forgot because they know how chaotic weddings can be, and I'll tell you our was CHAOTIC. They were so helpful and they went above and beyond what they really needed to to ensure that we had an amazing wedding reception. They even provided extra vegetarian meals because we weren't completely sure how many of our guests were vegetarian and/or had food allergies to meat/gluten. Our minds were blown by their kindness and consideration, we really can't fully express how thankful we are that we chose this place and they were able to do it. I would recommend this place to anyone and so would our 70 guests because everyone raved about the food and service. They even put food aside for us because we left at the beginning of the reception for about an hour for photography and they didn't want us to come back and all the food be gone. We hired Caroline at Smokin Burrito to cater our wedding last August in Oakhurst and overall it was a disappointing experience. We were looking for some good solid BBQ that also had some unique elements so we thought Caroline's food would be a good fit. We're not BBQ snobs but we're also not BBQ newbies so we definitely know good BBQ when we taste it! We drove 10 hours round-trip to do a tasting as we wanted to make sure the food was good. She charged us $300 for a couple bites of a few different selections and it was very "hit or miss". Some things were tasty and some were really bad. The smoked chicken, for example, was so overly smokey that it tasted like it just came from an ashtray. But the crab cakes were delicious...again, very inconsistent quality of the dishes. We gave her very specific feedback and choices for the wedding day meal after the tasting, to which she agreed to, like apple butter pulled chicken instead of smoked, but on wedding day, the chicken and the tri-tip were both dry, flavorless, and the beef was so tough that most of our guests struggled to eat it! Some of the sides and appetizers were good but she really doesn't know how to do BBQ for the main meal proteins, which were supposed to be the stars of the meal. Also the closer we got to the wedding day with the finer details to figure out, the more her responses got colder and she actually seemed annoyed by our necessary questions about timings of the day and details of the food and service. This was a $4000 meal on one of the most important days of our lives so of course there's a lot more details that go into it than your average everyday dinner. On a positive note, she and her staff were very friendly and professional to us and all of our guests on the wedding day. But when we tried to give her balanced feedback afterwards about what was good and what wasn't so good and asked about how to send a tip for her staff, she ghosted us completely and we haven't heard from her since. In hindsight, we would have definitely chosen another caterer with a more steady, proven track record of delicious food and good customer service throughout the whole process so we do not recommend Smokin' Burrito to other couples. read more

The setting for the tasting was very nice and a combination of the food and the personality of the owner, Aaron Hanson, convinced us to book this catering company. At the wedding reception, the food was so delicious! I had guests commenting to me after dinner about how great the food was! Aaron and his staff were friendly, relaxed and very professional. Since we had an outdoor ceremony and reception on a ranch, having the smoker sending yummy aromas through the air before dinner was an added atmospheric bonus and made it fun! Frustration, anger, ridiculous, disappointing..........these are the words coming from fellow customers today. The smoking burrito was down in Visalia for the Sequoia nature conservancy fundraiser. We were forced to wait over 1.5 hours....... yes 1.5 hours, not a typo for the lame ass fusion tacos. My wife and I were not the only ones in this predicament as I counted between 20-40 people waiting for their food with us. Only one cook, with one other female taking orders. How could they take orders in good conscience where they already had an hour wait for food? Well, it didn't and they kept taking orders. Many of us felt bad for the folks getting in line to order and told them about our wait. Many of them walked away. It should not have to be said that it is a bad business practice to continue taking orders when previous customers had already been waiting for their food for over an hour. This information should have been provided by the counter help, but was not. Let's call this for what it really is......FRAUD! When we finally received the food, it was disappointing. It looks lacked any type of luster and looked like it was whipped up in 30 seconds or so. Many of the folks ahead of us had the same disappointing looks on their faces when they received there's as well. I for one will not be doing business with this company, nor should anyone else. I understand that for whatever reason, there have been some positive reviews for this company. Don't believe them and consider yourself warned. read more

Came here tonight while taking the family to the pumpkin patch. Ok, I REALLY wanted to like this place. Bbq, mexican, Mac and cheese- pretty much 3 of my favorite things! Oh and a food truck! What's not to like? Right? We ordered 1 each of the 3 tacos- pulled pork, Asada, Mac and cheese fusion for $2 each and an order of the Tri tip nachos for $7. That's when it all went down hill. I should've taken pictures is the food, but alas I had already gone camera crazy taking pics of the boys at the pumpkin patch. The tacos were tiny, with probably a tablespoon of filling each, all 3 tacos for almost spread flat on those tiny plates that hold a small square of cake. The nachos were ridiculous. I come from a food industry background and I would be completely embarrassed to send these out and pretend like they are an order of nachos, let alone charge $7. Total meat on the nachos was about 4-5 chex size pieces. There were less than 10-12 round tortilla chips and the entire order of nachos fit in a cup of soup size styrofoam bowl. $7 dollars! I wondered why they didn't have a line and the other truck had 20 people in line waiting to order at any given time. I figured they didn't want something unique, but I found out they didn't want to get smoked by the smoking burrito. All in all, the concept was great, the flavors weren't bad, but the portion and presentation was beyond ridiculous. read more

I had The Smokin Burrito deliver food for my son's 1st birthday and we couldn't have been happier with what was delivered! The process was so easy in coordinating what the menu would be and for delivery. Our guests were excited to try this take on BBQ/Mexican fusion and they loved it! The day of the party we had to add some additional guests to the original headcount and they were able to accommodate us on such short notice. Set up on delivery was great too, with plenty of condiments to go with the food. BTW, their salsa is amazing! They were great to work with and the food was delicious! After attending many a graduation party with the same fare, we decided to go with The Smokin Burrito for my son's party. The mac and cheese and grilled corn were a hit. In addition, they helped with set up and choosing the amount to purchase. I was worried about not having enough, and though they could have padded the sale by playing on that fear, they helped me to order the right amount. Yes--that's right-they were honest and told me I didn't need as much as I thought I did( and they were right!). Everyone raved about the food and I raved about the customer service. I ordered The Smokin' Burrito for my son's first birthday last weekend. The food was amazing! We ordered traditional chicken tacos and the mac daddy tacos with refried beans and rice. They came and set everything up for us (drop set up, extra $10 per tray but well worth the money during a stressful party set up) and I really liked that they brought all the toppings separate so people could make their tacos exactly how they wanted. They were on time, professional and super friendly. I did order churros that didn't turn out very well, but before the owner even showed them to me she told me that they didn't turn out up to her standards and I would be refunded for them. They even brought a gift for my son. The owners are a husband and wife team and they are really nice. I would definitely recommend them and if I ever have another party catered I would definitely consider using them again. Also, we ordered about $300 worth of food for about 50 people and we had tons left over. I felt like it was a really good price for the amount of food we got. read more
