Whoops... review years overdue. Best vegan/vegetarian tacos in all of fresno. Hands down. Try the al pastor. It tastes like a good ol' fashioned taco. The red salsa is spicy. I love spicy. They also have all kindsa other options like burritos, fries, etc. Oh yea, the vegan nacho fries are killer too. The fries are fresh and hot. So delicious! My friends who eat meat have really liked them. They used to have combo plates years ago with rice and beans but they are no more. I can't ever pass up tacos from Gonzalez. They're just so good! Decided to come back for a second visit so soon! Pros: Service was quicker; there were two people working. Horchata was yummy. Cons: We ordered the same thing (except tacos without pico de gallo so that's why those look different). My food came in a completely different container. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but in this case, my rice and beans portions were smaller. The burrito isn't pictured, but it looked the same on the outside. The first time we got this burrito it was great, but this time there were a lot of burnt pieces of meat and a lot of fatty pieces as well. Went to this truck last night with the family and ordered some tacos and burritos. We tried carne asada, carnitas, chicken, and al pastor. The truck had "mariscos" boldly displayed on it but no seafood on the menu. The young lady taking my order was kind enough to ask if I wanted my tacos in separate containers and if I wanted pineapple on my al pastor tacos. I replied yes to both, but my tacos all came in one container and there was no pineapple on my tacos. The chicken was forgettable and the carnitas seemed to be from a cut of pork foreign to me, made up of a lot of gristle and funny bits. I wonder if it was actually carnitas at all...but the carne asada and al pastor were excellent. The composition of the burritos was nothing special, with the exception of the fact that they were griddled on top of a bit of cheese. That was delicious. The tacos were excellent. The tortillas were on the thicker side, which some people may not enjoy, but I quite liked them, especially because they were warmed in oil and slightly crisp. The best part of the whole experience was the crisp they got on the meats for the tacos. They also gave two salsas, a red and a green. He forgot the actual time of service and was not going to serve my guests until 2:00pm. According to Luis, he was late to my event because he booked a last minute event prior to mine. I was furious!!! He promised a Mexican theme display with Mexican pottery on a table. I received no display, no table for condiments. He promised shade for my guests, although my family were having to wait in the sun to order food. He promised two aqua frescas placed on a table. Instead he had a small igloo located inside taco truck My family was not even aware aqua frescas were available. I honestly think he served left over flavored water from his previous event which is reason why he did not have enough for my guests. He said he would save left over food for me to take home yet no extra food at the end was available, although him and his staff were seen eating the food I paid for in the taco truck. He took too long to serve all my guests. He took no accountability of what he promised prior to my event. Very disappointed in service received and I do not recommend Gonzalez Tequeria for future events. Luis made our grad/bday party the perfect event! We had tried several businesses with no luck after our first guy cancelled. Luis moved his reservations around and was very accommodating. He even changed the time when I asked. We had 70 people at our family party and they all loved the food! We get tacos regularly at Chuckchansi during Grizzlies games. I went to a birthday party last night, and this taco truck was parked in the driveway and had catered the event. They left such a good impression, I made it a point to ask for their business card. The owner said he had left them at home, so I snapped a picture of his truck so I'd remember to look for him (in this case, add him) on Yelp. Anyway, this was a party full of "my people" and I just have to add this little tidbit in my review before I proceed. When the father of the birthday girl introduces himself to me, he gives me a big hug and the first words he says to me other than "hello" are (in Armenian,) "do you like vodka?" That's actually my least favorite hard liquor, my Armenian family members typically drink brandy but it's impolite to decline and I loved the man's passion for the sport, so of course I gave him an enthusiastic "YES." He practically bowled me over pushing aside the plastic shotglasses set out for the guests as he runs to the kitchen and busts out the old country ones. We practically became besties taking shots together until everyone else got there and he kinda went upstairs and went to bed, I guess. :( So back to the food. I KNOW it wasn't just because I had been drinking, but this guy's tacos were the business. He served al pastor tacos with freshly sliced pineapple- never had that combination before, but it was very delicious. The asada tacos were delicious as well, as was the piece of my friend's quesadilla I had. They had a little toppings bar set up on a separate table with onions, cilantro, lime, cabbage, and salsas. If I wasn't drinking the good stuff that night, I would have definitely checked out the horchata, as well. As the truck states, they cater any and all events. The vegan options are good but unfortunately, the service is not. They do not communicate well and seem to be all over the place. The owner was rude both times I purchased from them. The first time, I ordered a vegan horchata and asked for it when I went up to get my food. The owner responded, you should have got it where you ordered, don't you see I'm busy making food. I thought that was rude especially since the younger girl working the register obviously forgot to give it to me. I waited another 15 mins and went back up to the pick-up window to ask about my food. The owner said it had been sitting there and I was buzzed for it. But I was never buzzed because I received a buzzer with NO battery life and then I asked him why the woman who took my order had said it wasn't ready. He again responded in an extremely rude tone, ignored my question, and never apologized for their mistakes. It is clear that the staff does not communicate well and the owner does not care to provide (at minimum) good customer service. I was so excited to support a business that offers so many vegan options but disappointed with the attitude of the owner.
