Came here specifically for prescription goggles, great for those who hate contact lenses. $25 for a 2 week goggle rental, $10 additional for the prescription version. Amy helped us find the right strength, with her "Dr Amy" visual chart, just like an optometrist. She had great humour, and suggested some snorkel spots in North Maui we hadn't visited previously as we usually go south to The Dumps. The Snorkel Store also has live beach cams, and each morning at 0800h will email with snorkel conditions. Pretty sweet! Cody was so nice and super helpful, good guy! He offered tons of great tips on family friendly snorkel spots. He also provided a map and let us know about their daily newsletter which gives you the latest weather conditions for popular spots each morning, including live cams. They have high quality gear and offer great deals on snorkel gear as well as beach toys. The only issue I ran into was that my new fins caused a painful blister. Even after I came back to buy the thin socks the next day, it still hurt probably because it was too late after already getting a blister. I wish they had boot rentals to go with the fins. Another bonus was that you could go there to refill your water jugs with their high quality water filtration system for free, which saves money from having to buy water from the store and good for the earth. I would definitely return, but next time bring my own thick dive boots to snorkel with. read more

Wow! We had a group of 12 and the guys at The Snorkel Store were able to accommodate us. They set us all up with complete snorkel gear including prescription goggles for those who needed it. We also got a free beach item I.e. chair, cooler etc. for each person. AND you get to keep your stuff for the duration of your stay. The prices were awesome although I can't remember what we paid. He talked with us for just over an hour told us about all the best snorkeling spots Told us the best times to get out there set us up so we had live view cameras of most of the snorkel spots also set me up on a reoccurring membership for free that sends me the live snorkel report every morning gave me a bunch of coupons to some of the best restaurants on the island and just overall an amazing Guy, I had such an amazing experience which ended up to me going back when I came back on island just recently And had another amazing experience. The only reason I decided to use this place was because I was looking at the beach I had originally planned on going to that day on google maps and saw this place right across the street. Booking online was super easy. They were running a promotion for 50% off + a freebie. For $67 dollars i was able to rent 2 chairs, an umbrella, 2 full snorkeling sets (mask, mouth piece and flippers), a cooler and I chose a boogie board as my freebie! I'm used to the New Jersey beaches where you'll pay $100 for just the umbrella and chairs! When we arrived at the store, pick up was super easy and staff was incredibly friendly AND informative! We took the advice of Cynthia and went a couple miles down the road to a different beach than the one we had originally planned and had an excellent snorkeling experience! Everything was fitted perfectly! And the reef was just as beautiful and full of life as she had described! Will be recommending this place to anyone who will listen! 10/10 experience! We had been debating buying versus renting like so many others, and had wandered into three or so other stores before lunch and were still ambivalent. Then we wandered in here Rob greeted us warmly and charmed us into rentals there. What really sold us was how he outlined sites and routes and gave us all kinds of recommendations for places to snorkel on a map. He asked what hotel we were at and quoted a price that he said was half off, but I'll bet they have relationships with all the hotels so I don't know if basically everyone gets 50% off. He threw in some floaty things we didn't end up using, as well as a 20% coupon for Three's (which has a 20% off with checkin on yelp anyway) that we did end up using. He gives out his cell number with assurances you can call and was just so super friendly and efficient it was easy to go with the flow. That kind of salesmanship you'd expect to see for something way more pricey than $80 of rentals, or whatever it ended up being. We were honestly impressed. Prices are comparable or competitive with other places. Drop off of the equipment was a breeze. Highly recommend. read more

Their staff was absolutely awesome, and they gave us an easy-to-read map with all their best spots for snorkeling detailed and specified to what we were looking for. Their map often lead us south to Kihei or Wailea, which had the best conditions during the weeks we were there. Their staff was super friendly (I needed to exchange fin sizes) and they also rented us WAY nicer quality than the resorts or snorkel trips would provide. We were comtemplating renting or buying our own snorkel gear in Maui. We purchased some cheaper ones before and they just never worked out well. We decided to give the Snorkel Store a shot because of their good reviews. We also wanted high quality gear. We worked with Rob and he was awesome, so knowledgeable. He mapped out every spot for us to go to. It just so happens that that morning was bad for snorkeling in Kihei/Wailea, so he recommended a spot in the north west zone that was perfect for us (Honolua Bay). All of our gear fit perfectly with no issues the entire trip. I think the best part of the Snorkel Store is the daily report they release that lets you know the conditions of the snorkel spots. We subscribed via email and it was so valuable everyday in Maui. It took about 20 minutes to get our gear, and drop off in Kaanapali a week later took 1 minute. If we ever come back, we will come here no doubt. read more

Saw this shop on yelp amongst many other places and decided to give it a try since it had really good ratings. We came in right when it opened at 8am and Josh was there to help us. First off, he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. He answered all of our questions, outlined which beaches would be best to go to for snorkeling to see the turtles, and gave great instructions. Their yelp currently has a "2-for-1" deal on snorkeling gear, which also reflects on their website. We paid $15 each and got a free umbrella rental on the side. So ~$30 for the whole day was worth it because their equipment was extremely clean and the customer service was awesome. We were able to stay around Kihei with his recommendations and return everything with no stress. Definitely recommend, we even got to see the turtles! read more

Robert was awesome! My hubs had found a great deal online to get snorkel gear, and floaties. We had already gone on a guided tour before so decided that we'd like to just get our own equipment and explore. The gear was REALLY nice, much better than when we had gone out with another company. The goggle fit, mouth piece were really comfortable, and the snorkel pipe (?) automatically filters some water out if you happen to get any. Our flippers were also very nice and functional. They lend you a de-fogger, and a mesh backpack that you can also swim with so you can keep all your stuff together. We also ended up coming back to rent an umbrella and a couple of chairs, they were all Tommy Bahama, in great shape. The chairs especially had super functional pockets on the sides, had varying levels of recline, a little head pillow and could be worn like a backpack! Rob was kind enough to go through a map outlining the best places to snorkel and insider tips which were super helpful. They also have a daily "snorkel" report on their IG account (The Snorkel Store) which I checked each day and was informative. They sell quite a lot of equipment that you would need too, like reef friendly sunscreen, after sun aloe, phone/tablet waterproof cases, rash guards, aloha wear, etc. The renting and returning process was very easy and straight forward, they also have a lot and parking right in front of their store which was never full. The best customer service experience we had while visiting Maui. Friendly, thoughtful, patient. And they give a great deal on the gear. We had tried the Aria full-face masks a few days ago -- it was problematic. This time we tried the normal type -- goggles and breathing tube -- and had a much better snorkeling experience. They suggested fins and we're glad we got those too. They provided a map to show us the best places to snorkel. I also bought one of their "Hana Tonics" (ginger drink) for my Road to Hana windy drive the following day, and was glad I did! Worth trying if you get motion sickness. The customer service here is A+, their gear is great, and they also serve ono shave ice! We rented snorkel gear for 5, including a prescription mask for my father-in-law which worked out wonderfully. The gear is clean, like new, and comfortable. We were fitted for everything properly. We had it for a week and used the great maps provided by the shop to scope out great snorkel spots. Yelped a snorkel rental near us at the Grand Wailea, this was the first to pop up. Signed up for for a 2 for 1 rental deal and reserved our snorkel gear on my phone. 5 minutes later Lisa (the owner) I believe called us to confirm and told us our gear will be ready! We popped in the shop an hour later, got fitted for our gear, signed a waiver to promise we wouldn't touch any sea turtles and we were on our merry way. Quick, easy, painless and good quality gear for a fair price! We rented 2 snorkel sets for a week for $56 and we got a bougie board to go with it. The sets come in a mesh carrying bag and also a bottle of that fog free solution. Best ever, the snorkels were great! read more
