I spotted a pair of kids' Converse shoes in the Clearance section - marked down to $40. But the tag on the box listed suggested retail at $40. That didn't seem like a "clearance" price to me. Limited styles and choices for children, which is what I came here for. I was in and out in a flash, it seemed. Once I saw the selection and the prices, I knew there was nothing here for me. Didn't check out the women's shoes, but as I walked to the exit I noticed that the prices on men's shoes weren't anything to sing about, either. Disappointing.

Nice selection of quite a variety of women's shoes. Questionable whether the prices are really a bargain. But with so many shoes from which to choose, you're bound to find something that will either tickle your fancy (and your toes) or give you a good idea of what is available. Nice options for other accessories like socks, belts and purses. Look carefully, as some of these items are scattered throughout the store. My one gripe: when you check out, I feel like you're berated for your phone number and/or your email. "We need this!" That's what you're told so that you can get the best savings available. To me that is a message: yes, we're going to spam your inbox or inundate you with text messages. I decline every time, but every visit prompts the same forceful prompt to divulge your phone number or email address. A rejection once should do it. But apparently that doesn't do it for DSW. It took four different declines for the sales associate to finally let me buy the items I wanted without disclosing who I was or where to contact me. Grr.

DSW always seems to have an extremely good selection of shoes, especially for me since I take a wide width, they have plenty in wide. One thing to keep in mind is that if your selection is not in the store, they will ship the shoes to you as well. This is my go to shoe store. I must also add that the employees here were very friendly when it came to me figuring out what rewards I had on my frequent flyer account.

Striking out everywhere, I thought I'd stop in here since I was in the area. Knowing I was going to be in this general vicinity, I pulled up their website prior to my venturing out to see the style and potential collection of clothing (specifically dresses) that they carry. Looked promising, so I was hopeful when I walked in the door. Meh. Nothing that I saw on the website was on any rack, and what was on the rack was extremely dull -- styles were odd, fabrics and patterns were not flattering. I didn't even find one item to try on, as I was completely unimpressed with everything I saw (including some pretty steep prices considering the garment). It didn't help that not one of the three employees in the store that day even greeted me when I walked in. I didn't hear one word out of any of them, as I walked back and forth through the store for at least 15 minutes (and, mind you, I was the ONLY customer in the store at the time). Move on. Nice enough Famous Footwear storefront in Tomball Marketplace…read more I guess I haven't been to a Famous Footwear in awhile, but the inventory is about 80% athletic shoes and 20% dress--not what I remember. I've shopped Famous Footwear since the early 1980s, but it's been a few years. I wanted a new pair of dress shoes for a wedding that evening, so Air Jordan's weren't on the menu. Their selection in dress was limited, especially in wide width and sizes above 10. With assistance, I found a pair that I liked that came oh so close, but they were too long. They were also reboxed in a generic Famous Footwear box, and showed signs of break-in (but not wear). They also weren't discounted for not being brand-spanking new. The very helpful sales assistant--who seemed to be running the store by herself--offered to check other stores or order the shoes, but my time was too limited for those heroics. They're A-OK--that is, if you have the time to wait for shoes in your size. I didn't, so I went away empty-handed, but not truly disappointed.

Very poor customer service…read more It is understandable if there is inclement weather or a sickness within the limited amount of staff however when the MANAGER shows up FOUR hours late and have customers + a FedEx delivery waiting on her that's just about ridiculous. Not only did she miss the shipment but whenever she finally arrived instead of informing customers that the location was closed she brought her son into The store, lock the doors and had us outside knocking for several minutes to get her response from the inside. If you have the spare time to choose another location do so because this treatment is disgusting and a waste of time.
