If I could give this wedding venue zero stars, I would…read more As the groom, I was involved in every part of planning our wedding at The Havens, and there are things about this experience that still genuinely bother me. First, what wedding venue asks for a deposit before giving you a contract? We had to put our money down before we could even read the terms because, at the time, we simply didn't know any better. When my now-wife later asked what would happen if we decided not to sign, we were told we would not get our money back. That is an incredibly unfair position to put a couple in, especially when you are planning one of the biggest and most expensive days of your life. The rental situation is where things really started to feel wrong. During our tour, we were given the impression that the ballroom could comfortably accommodate 300 guests. After signing, we were told that our 200 guests would actually be "too tight" with their chairs and that we would need narrower chairs through their rental process. We were told they handled rentals because they wanted to help us get the best prices. We trusted that. Instead, we were given rental prices significantly higher than what we were finding elsewhere, with charges presented as things like "delivery and tax." When we asked if The Havens took a cut of the rentals, they said no. We then asked for the actual rental company invoices, and they refused to provide them. If you aren't taking a cut, why hide the invoice? After we cancelled, we pushed for an honest answer and they finally admitted that they do take a cut, something that was never disclosed in our contract. And on top of that, they wanted to charge us nearly two thousand dollars to store their own chairs! At that point, it was hard not to feel like we had been maneuvered into a system that financially benefited The Havens while we were left paying the price. When we raised our concerns, they took no accountability. They were also incredibly unprofessional with our wedding planner, who was simply trying to advocate for us. The hardest part was watching what all of this did to my wife. There were too many nights filled with stress, frustration, and tears over something that should have been one of the happiest times of our lives. I watched her excitement about being a bride turn into anxiety about dealing with The Havens. I ultimately knew this was not what I wanted for our wedding, and it certainly was not what I wanted for my bride. Walking away was the best decision we made for our wedding, but I cannot reconcile the emotional and financial toll this experience put us through. I am a business owner myself, and I cannot imagine treating a customer this way. When someone brings a legitimate concern to me, I work to make it right. I have refunded customers plenty of times because doing the right thing matters more than keeping the money. I genuinely do not understand how The Havens can continue defending what happened instead of taking accountability and making things right. I sincerely hope The Havens takes a moment to reflect on what this experience has put my wife, myself, and our families through and chooses to do the right thing by finally giving us the resolution and closure we deserve.

I hate leaving anything less than a positive review because I've actually enjoyed coming to Ocean's…read moreEleven over the years. Even though I somehow manage to lose almost every time I visit (the players always seem to beat me! ), I've always had a good time overall. The atmosphere is usually fun, the staff has generally been friendly, and I have to give credit where it's due--the house chow mein is phenomenal and honestly one of my favorite things to order whenever I'm there. Unfortunately, my experience on August 4th between approximately 7:30 and 8:00 PM completely changed the tone of the evening. The dealer working Table 19, Matt, was incredibly rude and came across as if he didn't want to be there. It wasn't just directed at me either--it seemed like everyone at the table noticed his attitude. You could tell by the reactions from the other players that they were just as surprised by how he was interacting with guests. As a General Manager of a restaurant, I understand better than most that customer service isn't always easy. We all have stressful days, difficult guests, and moments where we'd rather be anywhere else. Hospitality can be exhausting. But at the end of the day, whether you're serving food or dealing cards, you're still in the hospitality industry. Guests are choosing to spend their money at your business, and your attitude can completely shape their experience. I'm not expecting someone to be overly energetic or fake, but a smile, some professionalism, and basic courtesy go a long way--especially in a position where tips are part of the job. I would encourage management to review the camera footage from Table 19 during that time frame. It should give a clear picture of the interactions that took place. If possible, speaking with some of the players who were at that table may also provide valuable feedback, as it definitely didn't seem like I was the only one who felt uncomfortable with the experience. This review isn't meant to attack the casino as a whole because I've genuinely had many enjoyable visits here. It's simply disappointing when one employee's attitude overshadows what has otherwise been a place I've enjoyed coming back to. I'm giving 2 stars because I still like Ocean's Eleven overall, the food is excellent, and I've had plenty of great experiences in the past. I just hope management addresses situations like this so future guests receive the welcoming experience that keeps people coming back.

I honestly don't understand who is making decisions at Ocean's Eleven Casino, but it feels like…read morethey go out of their way to make things *harder* for players. They used to have a simple, perfectly fine system where you could call in and put your name on the board for poker games. Easy. Convenient. Player-friendly. Now? That's gone. Instead, they're forcing everyone to download an app just to get on a list. Why? Not everyone wants to download another app. Some people don't have the space. Some people don't trust giving random third-party apps access to their phone. And believe it or not, some people *don't even have smartphones*. So what, those players just don't matter anymore? That's not innovation--that's exclusion. If you want to OFFER an app, great. Give people options. But completely removing the ability to call in is just lazy and tone-deaf. It shows zero consideration for your actual customer base. And this isn't the first time management has ignored players. The chip color change on the 4/8 table from blue to pink? Almost nobody liked it. Players spoke up. And just like now--nothing. No listening, no adjustments, no care. At this point, the place feels like our current government--quick to take your money, but not interested in listening to the people who actually keep the lights on. The players are the ones funding this place, and yet their voices couldn't matter less. It really feels like the people making these decisions don't play here, don't talk to players, and frankly don't care. There's no focus on improving the player experience--just unnecessary changes that frustrate everyone. Heartless, out-of-touch management. If you're going to make changes, at least make ones that *help* your customers, not push them away. If I see any changes or improvement, I will remove this comment.

We wanted to stop by for a restroom break and to stretch our legs and eat some of our snacks before making our final voyage to San Diego and we saw the welcome center when we turned out of the freeway. Definitely stop here over a regular rest stop or fast food joint. We came in around 15-20 minutes before they had to close and all the ladies working there were super friendly, welcoming, answered all of our questions. Restrooms are super clean and smells nice too. They have a sign in sheet for visitors, lots of brochures for nearby attractions, an entire car inside for photos, lots of neat bits and pieces of history of the area and sights to see including info about pro-skater Tony Hawk, the surfboard museum or something nearby, and much more. Lots of neat gifts and trinkets for you to take back on your trip too. There's also books, and goods made by local artists. My friend from Texas got a cute kitchen towel with the art of all the animals and such from California. Cute! There's a discount corner and everything is reasonable and affordable. At the side there's also someone posted there to assist you with booking hotels and I'm sure other things like tickets to events or attractions, I'm sure. Going here has inspired me to eventually visit the other Welcome Centers too!

Yippee! The last one I went to was in Ventura and that was also fabulous! This Welcome Center is smaller than the one in Ventura but it was very solid! The two ladies that helped me today were sweet and knowledgeable. Since it's gonna hella rain the next couple of days, I asked for some indoor suggestions and they both were well prepared to answer my questions! One lady even pulled out a handout that had many rainy day activity sessions! I was pointed to go visit the Mission San Luis Rey, which I promptly did later and it did not disappoint but also got plenty of indoor suggestions like a vintage market to check out, go to the mall and go to the movies (I will probably do all of these things and more!). I also loved that they had very informative magazines, brochures for North Coast, and all of Cali and other states too! I was in heaven with all this information! Definitely give this place a visit if you like doing research on your travels! I loved it!
