This brings into the question Carechoices overall leadership and adherence with their own mission statements, so you may want to research other companies before making such an important choice. Additionally, it created a lack of trust and comfort on both sides---theirs and ours---which should not be a factor when your loved one is dying. Lastly, communications and supplies sometimes lagged, as did follow-through with the social worker we were assigned, but never heard from to schedule our meetings.

Originally I had used a national service that advertises on tv a lot and they referred me to a home that he only stayed 8 days. It was not a good place and they didn't do anything they promised. Their consultants simply look online and direct you. With CareChoice you can be sure they are giving you a good quality place for your loved one. Also, Rachael has been very helpful when I have called her since the placement. She is very compassionate and friendly, and calls back quickly. We brought my mom to live here after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She did not come willingly…read morebecause she didn't understand her illness and was a handful when she arrived. Suzanne and Chuck went out of their way to make the adjustment as smooth as possible. After a few short weeks, she loved it there. All the workers were extremely kind to her. We had a few minor hiccups with her medications, but that is to be excepted and they were quick to fix the problems. Eventually my mom was placed in their memory care and I was happy with the care she was given. They helped get my mom on hospice and kept me aware of the hospice staff and how they were doing. The biggest gratefulness I have towards Benton House is when my mom fell and fractured her back. We thought for sure she would have to be placed in a nursing home. They were wonderful to accept her back and told me this was her home. She died a few weeks later, but happy and grateful that she was able to live her final days in a place she eventually fell in love with.

They are hiring all the old staff who was fired under Darlene, I mean they were fired for a reason. Do not bring your love ones here if you care about their well being. I came in,…read morewheelchair bound and within a year (with therapy) I graduated to a walker and now I am completely independent. I walk and do all the steps every morning and in good weather, I walk outside. I also use the elliptical machine in the fitness room a couple of times a week. The staff have been very kind and the administration has responded to specific concerns of mine and residents as a whole. My book club enjoys coming here monthly for our meetings.

But let me tell you, they will not even do the bare minimum that is part of the rental contract because they are always "under-staffed". The weekly cleanings, laundry and sheet changes do not happen regularly if at all! If and when they do clean, it's mediocre at best. The food is inedible. Several occasions they lost our family members medications and spent days trying to locate them while she was left without her diabetic monitors among other crucial medications. And you will be charged a ridiculous amount for a "care plan" and within weeks to months they will do another assessment without any communication and double the monthly care plan, this is how they make their money. Charging lower rent and ridiculous amounts for "care plans" that are bogus and unwarranted. AND, they won't even do the additional items they claim they need assistance with like showering and dressing. and God help your loved one if they push the "panic button" they are given to wear around their neck because they have an emergency, the staff is not coming to help at any type of pace that would be acceptable in a true emergency. I could go on forever about the unscrupulous practices happening in the place. The management team, accounting and care team will not respond to emails and will hide from you in their offices. Absolute incompetence. Stay away, so many other great options in this area of town.
