The band was awesome, Bettye Lavette's performance was great singing songs from her latest album. However, in my opinion, Bettye Lavette's vocal was not clear and not loud enough. It's good to know that my alma mater has built such a beautiful performance hall in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. The exterior of the building looks amazing and the surrounding gardens add to the look. The interior acoustics and seating was well done. I went to a folkorico performance and I was blown away. Make sure you see the small art gallery on the second level. My only critique: there are ventilation fans below every seat. It can get chilly, so come prepared. read more

One of the perks of being a faculty member at CSUN is that I get 20 percent off tickets at the VPAC. Recently, my wife and I took in a show - and we had a delightful time. The venue is quite large - I'd guess over 2200 seats. We sat in Parterre - the second of four seating zones. It was a great view! The seats are a bit cramped - for a 6'1" guy - I found them to be pretty close together... not a ton of aisle space. Also, the ushers are more pushy than they are helpful. I mean, they do a good job but they won't win any awards for friendliness. The lobby is glamorous and massive. And the building, overall, is quite beautiful. Do yourself a favor and catch a show at the VPAC - you won't be sorry. read more

My darling husband got us tickets to see the Moscow Festival Ballet on Valentine's Day. He's golden but this review isn't about him so let me proceed. We got to the CSUN campus with half an hour until show time. We parked on the street on Darby to avoid having to pay the $6.00 parking fee. If you don't mind paying the parking fee, park in lot B1. There's a bit of a walk from the lot to the Arts Center so, ladies, bring some flats to walk in, which you can later stash in your purse when you reach the building. Apparently, there's a shuttle that picks you up from Lot B1 and takes you to the Arts Building, but we didn't use it. Anyhow, the actual building itself is impressive. It's got nothing but windows and you can see all the floors lit up at night. There are benches outside if you're waiting for someone (or changing your shoes) that you can sit on. At the entrance, theater personnel will scan your tickets and direct you to the floor you will be on and you will be allowed into the lobby. There is an area to your right where they were serving beverages, looked like alcohol; lots of schmoozing was going on. There are plenty of theater employees around to guide you in the right direction. We took the elevators up, checked out the restrooms, which were nice and clean, and took our seats. Upon sitting down, we realized the rows were tight. We were sitting in the balcony and had seats right at the beginning of the row. After standing up 3 or 4 times to let people through, we just walked up to the top of the balcony and waiting until they announced the show would be starting. It was a little annoying, but not enough to ruin my mood. The ushers were really fantastic and even volunteer to take your picture if they notice you attempting awkward couple selfies during intermission. The show was fantastic, the sound-great, the view-okay, considering we were high up in the balcony. I say you'd have a pretty good view from anywhere in this theater. And if you're there to listen to live music, I'd buy the balcony seats and save some money because it sounded fine up there but that's just me. After the show, it took a while to catch the elevator to get down. In retrospect, as able bodied, young adults we should have just taken the stairs. Getting out of the place was not an issue as we didn't park in the lot. Just as a note, there is no food or drink allowed in the theater. The only gripe was the tight rows. Other than that, we had a nice evening overall. I hope to come see more ballets here. read more

Beautiful performing arts center. I came here for the mayoral address and was seated near the front and in center. This is my first time at CSUN and this campus is beautiful. The performing arts center is nice, cozy and supports a large amount of people. It looks brand new and I like the wooden color touches inside. The Veteran's Day performances by Diavolo Architecture in Motion and the Diavolo Veteran's Project on November 11th were nothing short of spectacular!!!! Both my parents and my guests unanimously concluded that it was the most meaningful Veteran's Day of their life... and that means a lot since they are a combination of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans. Thor Steingraber and the leadership of the Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts deserve recognition for having the courage to combine a day of festivities with two dramatic performances by Diavolo and an absolutely heart and show stopping performance by Desert Storm and Afghanistan veterans that have struggled reintegrating into civilian life after being asked by their country to do and see things we are all grateful we have not had to see or do. The venue is great! The staff is great! The parking is easy! The programming is visionary! And, I can't wait to see what they come up with next! Assuming they bring back Diavolo and the Veteran's Project, I know where I am going to be on Veteran's Day next year and the year after that and the year after that.... read more

It is just a pleasure to come to see a show here. First, there are plenty of cheap eateries in Reseda and Northridge for a pre-show bite or a post-show nosh. I prefer ramen. Next, access is quite simple, with parking not terribly pricey and a reasonable walk from the facility. Then, there's the facility itself. Large enough to be meaningful, small enough not to be overwhelming, and significant enough to attract excellent talent. In the last year have seen... * Bobby McFerrin * a Bollywood dance show that was far-flicking-out * The Klezmatics And there's probably a bunch of stuff I missed that I should have attended. There is plenty of kind help at the door, and it's impossible to get lost. We're lucky to have this in the SFV. read more

I'd been avoiding crowds since the latest COVID surge, but was willing to trust that the Soraya's efforts would make for a safe setting and I wasn't disappointed. This is a beautiful space doing a great job of managing COVID precautions. I was thrilled to see Stewart Copeland performing here recently. The staff were very efficient but thorough in checking for vaccination proof and directed into the theater where the concessions had been moved to a lovely outdoor courtyard. I appreciated not having to wade through a maskless crowd to get to the show. They did not allow folks to bring drinks back into the auditorium and this was great because it didn't give people the excuse to keep their masks off at their seats while clutching a drink (like they do at the Kavali theater). At one point a group directly behind us just took their masks completely off of their faces. Since I didn't want them to be breathing their potentially COVID infected breath over me, literally, I went out to the hall and found an usher. The usher immediately responded, the folks put their masks back on, and the other ushers stationed at the doorways made sure they stayed on for the safety of everyone there. As usual, the performance was fantastic, the place is spotless, the staff is courteous and efficient, and the venue is gorgeous. I recently attended a concert event at VPAC -- my second visit there -- and cannot rave enough about how much I enjoy this venue. It is a jewel in the San Fernando Valley, and I would wholeheartedly recommend seeing a performance there. THE BUILDING It is beautiful, inside and out. If you're a fan of architecture or a design fan, there's much to take in here. Arrive early to your performance and explore. There is a gallery on the loge level featuring rotating artists. There is also a patio cafe on the balcony level. Even without these additional destinations within the building, there is still much to see and soak in. The tiled walls, the grand staircase, the glass-planked balcony overhangs -- it's simply a fantastically designed space. THE HALL It is a thing of beauty. Once you enter into the performance hall, you will be surrounded by wood. Wood accents on the chairs. Curving wood on the walls. Curved wood clouds suspended from above. These are likely acoustical treatments that serve a specific function to amplify or tune sound, but they also make the space very inviting. SOUND Exemplary SEATING & TICKETING The great hall is actually deceptively small -- only 1,700 seats though it looks twice the size since much of the seating on the floor and parterre levels are open to the ceiling four floors above. (The rear portion of the parterre section does have the loge overhang above it, and the loge level has the balcony level above it.) The parterre, loge and balcony levels also each have a row of single seats that straddle both sides of the hall, approaching the stage. These chairs swivel and angle toward the stage, so the view from them is quite good though they are on the sides of the hall. If you attend a show solo, as I enjoy doing, I recommend these seats. How nice to not have to stand to let someone out of your row or have someone sitting right next to you. I have seen concerts on the balcony and loge levels. The balcony level was quite high, but I found the viewing from the loge level to be very nice. I suspect that the side seats on the parterre level are the best in the house, though admittedly I have not tried them yet. Of course, the higher you go, the cheaper the seats. I purchased my tickets AND parking permit online, printed both at home, and had no issues. The seating chart at VPAC's website is pretty easy to navigate. Just remember, the floor level is obviously the lowest and closest; the parterre level is slightly elevated and BEHIND the floor level, with a row of single seats along the sides of the hall ABOVE the floor. The loge level can be considered the third floor. Think of the balcony level as the fourth floor. CONCESSIONS I did not try the concessions at either show I attended, but here's what I know. There are refreshment tables on each level. You can actually pre-purchase food online. There is also a small cafe with mostly pre-made items on the balcony level of the venue. Additionally, there is Orange Grove Bistro, an on-campus restaurant a short walk away with a pre-fixe menu that friends have enjoyed. Reservations for the bistro would be recommended as it is not large. SERVICE It appears many of the ushers and attendants are CSUN students who go the extra mile to be helpful. I was offered an escort to not only my seat...but also to the restroom. :-) BOOKINGS The performers are quite varied -- Broadway stars, dance companies, lectures, symphonies, ballet, opera. CONS... LOBBY SEATING There is not a lot of seating in the lobby or on the other levels outside of the main hall, so if you arrive early for your show, prepare to stand for a while before seating in the hall begins twenty minutes before the show. (Or use the time to explore the gallery.) NARROW ROWS Not a lot of leg room in the balcony, so everyone will be standing to let someone out of the row. PARKING This will not be a con for those who would enjoy a bit of a trek from the car to the venue, but if you expect to park "near" the venue, you'll be out of luck. Let me be clear that there is ample parking available for $6 in a few lots on the CSUN campus. It's not a struggle to find a spot; the issue is that the spot will not be very close to the venue, and the walk may be a concern for those with ambulatory issues, or those in heels, or if the event falls on a rainy night. VPAC has tried to mitigate the inconvenience by providing a free shuttle from CSUN's Lot B to the venue. If it's raining, or you're in heels or with someone who is, you might consider using it. Both times I attended, I just parked in the Lot G parking garage (where there is no shuttle service) and hoofed it -- once in the rain. NUTSHELL First class venue with unique performers. I love that there is a performing arts center of this caliber in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. I hope valley residents will support it and the varied acts they have been booking. Absolutely beautiful venue with stunning architecture! I came here for a David Sedaris performance and I was blown away by the building. The outside looks like a beautiful piece of art and the inside of the theatre is so aesthetically pleasing. It is so spacious inside too and they had an area for drinks, food, etc. The night was that much more enjoyable simply based on the beauty of the venue. Just back from my first event here at the new Valley Performing Arts Center, a CSUN fashion show combined with dancing interludes. First the venue, if it is your first time here, go to the information booth on Nordhoff & Lindley for a campus map and a parking pass. Should you need to pick up tickets at will call, it is located on the north side of the building. The interior auditorium space is a hidden gem, warm, intimate & woodsy. The sound tonight was recorded, can't wait to hear some live music in the future. The CSUN College of Health and Human Development's Family and Consumer Science Department offers studies in Apparel Design & Production and Apparel Merchandising. These two overlapping student groups combine talents to host an annual student show in the spring. Many of the scheduled events here will be professional, however this show, similar to those held at other universities, is a great way to get a feel for the quality of work coming out of the program. read more

Beautiful venue - the auditorium is warm and pretty. The building itself is a wonderful architectural design. We saw Sarah McLachlan last night. The sound of her voice and the accompanying instruments were amazing. We sat closer to the stage and the seats were very comfortable. The seats were appropriately leveled though my seven year old had a hard time seeing around the person in front of her. She was able to check in her big fluffy pink elephant at the coat check in which she thought was the best thing in the world - the gal at the coat check-in was very sweet. The people who worked at the venue were very very nice and helpful. Our friends sat in another section and loved their seats and the venue. Some points I would make are on the practical side: 1. Women - there are bathrooms on all floor levels so do not get stuck on the first floor in that long line during intermission. 2. Do not go to event hungry - there are not a lot of food options outside of a few snacks. 3. IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE BE PREPARED FOR PARKING!! We got a parking ticket inside the designated parking structure!!!! The parking attendants were not helpful, we got lost a few times even trying to find parking - no signage or anyone helping past the start of the street. We again got lost finding the actual performance building - again no signage - we had to stop students along the way to ask for help. I still cannot believe we ended such a wonderful night with a parking ticket in the parking structure. There was no signage where we parked that it was designated for faculty or anything else. That is why I am taking what otherwise would have been a 5+ experience down to a 4 start rating. read more

Tickets are phenomenally inexpensive for this remarkable performance by the virtuosic and legendary patriarch of Flamenco. Orchestra, row B, center was only $55.00 on a 20% discount. Unbelievable! Up until last season, you had to purchase 8 shows on a Flex Pack in order to get the 20% off if you wanted to choose your own and didn't want to go w/ the other set performance packages. A free Music Knows No Borders performance of your choice was included w/ the Flex 8. This season, you only need to purchase 5 shows, and you still get 20% off and ticket exchanges up to two days prior to the performance date. Parking is included w/ the price of the ticket packages. Additional shows are granted at 20% off, should you decide to see more shows after your order has been processed. (Last season it was only 10% off ). Easy to order double the amount of shows for the 2019-20 season since the Soraya is bringing my favorite productions, including three full-fledged ballets: (first time ever!): Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, and the Nutcracker; the Yamato drummers from Japan; Bollywood, Step Afrika, Farruquito, Joshua Bell and Pinchas Zucherman! It will be a wonderful treat to see Pinky Zuckerman for the first time at the Soraya and not have to travel to the Disney Concert Hall to see him. Joshua bell will be performing the Paganini Violin Concerto w/ the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields; and Pinchas Zucherman will be playing the Bruch Violin Concerto. Itzhak Perlman will perform on opening night. It will also be Perlman's first time at the Soraya. Way out of my price range for that concert, but it's exciting that he is finally coming to the Great Hall. Pinky Zuckerman and Joshua Bell, as always, will be extraordinary enough for me. Love Joshua Bell; can't wait to see Pinchas Zuckerman. A special showcasing of the Violin's of Hope; instruments rescued from the Holocaust will be highlighted next season. It is going to be a remarkable year! Renewed my ticket subscription and added on a good number of shows on the day after Thor Steingraber announced at Ballet Prelocaj that subscriptions were on sale and that the legendary FARRUQUITO was coming to the Soraya! Had to do a double-take from disbelief and couldn't help suddenly yelling "Thank YOU!" from the Parterre upon hearing the news about Farruquito. No one dances like Farruquito; noble, virtuosic, charismatic, exciting, and beautiful to watch. When Farruquito's brother, "Farru," Antonio Fernandez-Montoya danced as a surprise guest w/ the Flamenco Legends; Paco de Lucia Project in 2017, it felt as if I had witnessed a flamenco resurrection of the electrifying and riveting, modern-day Michael Jackson from up close. Nearly fell off my seat in awe, I was so shocked by the magnificence of Farru's riveting technique and earthy style. Had never seen anything like it in my life. Been spoiled by that performance, since then. Los Farruco - Farruquito and Farru - are incomparable, stunning phenomenons. As Thor Steingraber said of Farru at the Flamenco Legends; Paco de Lucia Project, "If you haven't been to Spain to see flamenco, you have not seen Flamenco at all." Now the Soraya is bringing Jerez de La Frontera, the cradle of flamenco, to the Great Hall on Nov. 9! Get Ready! Prepare once again to be shocked and stunned. Can't wait! Orchestra seats are great; boxes are perfect; Parterre is wonderful; Loge is terrific. Ticket prices on subscription packages are unbelievable for all of these wonderful productions. If you are anything like I am, you won't be able to do without them. read more

While in this auditorium, I would never guess that it was on a state-run university campus. It's not blocky and dingy like the classroom-flanked Royce Hall. VPAC is clean, bright, open, and airy. The seats in the front of the parterre which is the rear orchestra and the center loge were a little on the tight side. It's a fairly narrow auditorium so the side seats aren't too far off the center axis and are still good seats. The very outer row of seats in the side boxes swivel which ensures the chair faces the stage. The side box seats are much more comfortable with plenty of elbow and leg room. There's also no getting up for others or view-blocking heads. Acoustically, the room was bright for both amplified spoken word (David Sedaris, Nov '11) and unamplified orchestra (Academy of St. Martin, Apr '12). It wasn't as bright for amplified jazz (Chick Corea, Oct '12), but that was because I sat in a side box which clouds the overhead reverb. While sitting in the orchestra level, an unamplified violin and piano recital (Anne-Sophie Mutter, Mar '13) had a soft hollow sound with an overly long reverb time from sound rising to the top of the auditorium and coming back down. Crowd noise was a problem for all three seats. In the loge, the narrowness of the hall creates a "mono" effect where the orchestra sound doesn't disperse. Typical of a campus auditorium, parking is not close (except for the handicapped parking - appropriately so). The theater is on Nordhoff, but I parked in structure G3 on Zelzah. I felt foolish paying $6 for parking. I mean, who pays for parking anywhere in Northridge? The lobby is thankfully quiet, but could use more signage to help find the correct seating section (which some has been added since they opened). There is a tiny gift shop on the main level and a nifty little art gallery on the loge level lobby. Although conveniently located for Valley Girls and Guys, the location offers highly limited dining choices for a big night out. As a know-it-all foodie, it pains me to say I have no good nearby suggestions for pre or post theater dining. Beverage and snacks inside the lobby were also limited. PS-There was a PROBLEM WITH THE ACOUSTICS for the London Philharmonic concert on 10/10/14. From our main floor seats, there was an intermittent high-pitched squeak coming from overhead. I couldn't figure out the source of the noise, but another Yelper wrote that it was feedback from the loge speakers which is highly plausible even though this should be an unamplified concert. I originally gave VPAC 4-stars, but have lowered them to 3-stars due to this awful error. read more

Tonight was our first time here and we saw the London Phil. Our tickets were in the Loge but I figured the sound would still be good. Man, was I wrong. This was an orchestral concert of Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak, so you would think that no amplification would be needed, but it seems for some reason, there are speakers in the walls back there, and they were emitting a low level, high pitched feedback squeal very regularly. I couldn't believe it. Was something being mic'ed? I wasn't hearing any orchestra coming out of them, just a high pitched ringing feedback intermittently. Now I'm an easy going guy but this was ridiculously annoying, especially during the pianissimos. Never done this before but I went out at intermission to let somebody know - couldn't find anybody, so I went back up to my seat and spoke to two ushers. One said they were aware of the problem and were "working on it". So I figured they could fix it by the second half, hey, just turn off the speakers. Nope. Still ringing away. My wife and I got up and moved to some empty seats way up on the left side away from the speakers and managed to enjoy the rest of Tchaikovsky's 6th, but I could still hear it back there. Unbelievable. A concert by a major orchestra and ringing feedback for ENTIRE thing. I spoke to a woman on our way out who looked to be in management, and she said she was sitting in the Orch section and was totally unaware of the problem. So the people who run this place don't know what is going on sonically during a concert. I love the idea of a venue in the Valley for great classical music, but whoever was running the show here on Oct 10 2014, really blew it. read more

I had driven by this place a number of times and was looking forward to attending a show sometime...it looked impressive from the outside. Last night I finally made it there and attended a concert version of Jerry Herman's "Dear World" starring Tyne Daly. While not a problem of the theater, it took forever to get there in Friday night traffic from the Studio City area, close to 45 minutes, even though it's only about 13 miles. Being non-freeway adjacent makes it hard to get to when there's any kind of traffic. What? Traffic in L.A.?? Once we got to the corner of Zelzah and Nordhoff, I had no idea where to go to park....there were no signs. So I turned right onto Zelzah and actually found free street parking right away. It was a bit of a walk to the theater but I can use the exercise. As we neared the theater, there was one flashing sign that went between "Tyne Daly" and "Parking." I wasn't sure if they were pointing people toward a public parking lot or if it was a sign specifically to let Ms. Daly know where she was supposed to park. When we got amidst the crowd, there was a lot of rumbling about parking issues; people not knowing where to park, people who didn't pay to park wondering whether they were going to get a ticket, etc. There's an entrance to the theater right on the Nordhoff side, but we didn't have our tickets yet. Again, there were no signs pointing to a box office of any kind. I had to ask someone at the door where the box office was, which turned out to be a LONG walk around the building to the other side. When we got to the other side, there still was no indication of where the box office was, so we had to again ask someone at the theater. It turns out it's an adjacent building across a cemented area, and the box office doesn't face the theater, it's on the complete opposite side to the theater. Who designed this place?? There was one very small sign near the box office pointing to it. Once you saw the sign, it's likely you already knew where the box office was. We get to the box office and there's two huge, long lines of people. We were surprised because it was already 15 minutes until showtime. Again, no signs marking what each line was for; was there a special line for will-call and another for ticket sales? People waiting in line were wondering the same thing. The lines moved very slowly. Show-time came and went and there were probably still close to 50 people in line. The girl behind the window in my line seemed cheerful enough but was slower than molasses, typing with one finger to pull up people's ticket requests. Finally another guy came outside and was trying to gather people's driver's licenses to take back in and pull their tickets. The two people in front of me did that and then I got called to the one-finger-typing-employee. I sighed and handed her my driver's license. She actually very quickly stood up and got my tickets and handed them to me. The people who were in front of me still hadn't gotten their tickets by the time I walked away. Then during the curtain speech (and oh, how I loathe curtain speeches from producers!) he seemed to blame the ticketing problem on Ticketmaster. From what I saw in line, there was a bigger problem with the long lines than just Ticketmaster. The employees themselves seemed incompetent. We ended up with tickets in the Loge, not my favorite place to sit, but it was ok. HOWEVER, they designed this theater (and it's not that old) with tiny seats crammed together. Where I was sitting was 5 fairly large men sitting together and we were literally forced to sit with our arms pulled close to our sides or we'd have been rubbing each other's arms all night long. I've seen narrow seats in older theaters, but why a new theater would choose to use them is beyond me...except of course to cram as many ticket-buyers into the building. One last problem: there was an air conditioning vent, right above me somewhere and it blew down my back all night. I'll be surprised if I don't end up with pleurisy from it. It would cycle on and off and when it was off, it did get a little warm. But when it was on, it was icy-cold. This experience doesn't make me want to be a regular attendee of this venue. read more

I was forced to see Kenny R. (Rogers) here since I made hubby go see Kenny G. last month. I guess we are even now. We had been here once before last year to see a ballet. It's a beautiful building with plenty of room to sit outside or inside in the spacious lobby. There are small concession stands outside and inside the building. Inside the theatre, the seats are fairly comfortable and hubby had some leg room so he didn't bang his knees against the seat in front of him. Parking structure is a little bit of hike, but it's a nice campus with good lighting. Overall, a nice venue. Just a little farther from home than I like. read more

Its so great to have a nice performing arts center in the valley. This venue is very pretty and clean. They don't keep the theater too cold which is nice. The auditorium is not that big, so no matter where you sit, you will have a decent view of the stage. Parking for events is only $6, and close enough yo walk OR they offer shuttles. They offer concessions of snacks and drinks, but DO NOT allow you to take it into the theater, so if you purchase a beverage before the show, be prepared to chug it. My only complaint about the venue is that the entire time since it has opened, they don't really offer a great selection of shows here. I have only had (mild) interest in two performances here, and wish they would offer a wider range and better options, as the venue is convenient and it is nice. read more

This place is fantastic. The lines are never long and the entertainment is amazing. The acoustics of the auditorium are truly magnificent. The seating arrangement is so that everyone can see the stage from every angle. Bottom line, if you're into the arts, this is a place you'll want to visit for sure. read more

I just attended my second event at this venue and once again it was a good experience. The acoustics in this theater are excellent, the building attractive and there are no bad seats. Eye line is amazing regardless where you are sitting. Only one downfall is that the rows are on the tight side so keep that in mind when choosing a seat. The VPAC is located on the CSUN campus and has been a wonderful addition. I had classes at VPAC and the lecture rooms were spacious, modern, and clean; same goes for the actual center itself. The center is gorgeous and has a nice vibe to it. Tons of big windows and lights making the center feel open and fresh. Parking There isn't an actual parking structure right next to the VPAC. However, I would recommend paying $6 to park at the G3 parking lot. The parking lot is probably the closest structure to VPAC and actually has a nice paved pathway to walk through. You'll end up passing the Orange Grove that houses orange trees and looks lovely at night. Tickets Last year I saw the Monterey Jazz Company and got an amazing discount. Tickets are cheaper to CSUN students which is definitely a perk because tickets can be pretty pricey. Overall Nice center that has a lot to offer to the community. Tip They have drinks for purchase but don't let you bring it into the performance room. Note They have amazing design when it comes to sound (according to my nerdy musician boyfriend) We did notice that it was hard to see over other people because the seats were not off-set and were directly behind one another. read more

On Saturday, January 26 I had the pleasure of visiting the Valley Performing Arts Center to see the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. I was impressed with every aspect of my visit. The facility is modern, spacious and inviting. The staff was well-dressed, friendly and courteous. Parking was $6, although there is street parking if you don't mind a bit of a walk. The concert hall was incredible. The acoustics were amazing, which resulted in a warm, high-quality musical experience. My seat was comfortable and I had an excellent view, This is one of those rare venues where nearly every seat is excellent. The line for concessions was reasonable and there is even free coffee. I am so happy that I found this Valley gem! read more

When one of my favorite artist was performing here, I pounced- concert at CSUN?? Hell yes. Not only is driving there a breeze, but you can easily avoid the $6 parking fee by parking on Zelzah or Darby. The new venue itself is at the corner of Lindley and Nordhoff, nice building with a fountain on its side. Inside they serve wine and beer but they don't allow you to take it in. I had balcony seating. Every seat has a great view! I had a middle seat though and the aisles were very thin, probably annoyed people to come through... but the acoustics were great. read more

Theater itself is ok. The show we saw was beyond horrible. It was an illusion show with dancing and magic tricks. I had a big head in front of me. However after intermission I had to go on my phone. I couldn't pretended anymore to enjoy the show. Don't go. Save your money. read more

First time seeing a performance here and it was fantastic! We were in the balcony and could still clearly see the stage and performance. The seats are well appointed and the line to enter the venue was perfect for a sold out show! I did not try the concessions so can't comment on that. I saw the Dream Girls musical here last week and it was a great performance. I was in awe of the venue! The architect and design was so beautiful made. I was fortunate enough to have seats on the second row of the orchestra seating...so close I could see many details on the performers! As a CSUN alum from a period of when the campus had classroom trailers and no parking structure (post earthquake), it such a delightful addition. And as an advocate for more arts in the valley, I am so proud to support. I will be watching the calendar to attend future events. read more

I've seen sever performances here now and the space is amazing. The acoustics are great and most of the seats have good sight lines. I recommend you don't get seats in the way way back unless that is all you can afford. You should spend another $25 to move up to the next section. Trust me! read more

Beautiful venue, very very reasonable ticket price. We came to see Spanish Harlem Orchestra and had a wonderful experience from parking, getting tickets at will call, and ushers guiding us to our seats. Audience base are educated and polite, more of a mature crowd for this performance. The outdoor landscape is beautiful and quite serene. I love the lighting and trees that compliment each other. For those who park in the further parking, they got free shuttle service:) read more

At last, a beautiful place to go hear live music in the valley. We have seen jazz and classical performances here and always enjoyed ourselves. The Soraya offers a great selection of variety. The parking is convenient and plentiful. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. By the time I gotten home each time, I have been looking forward to buying more tickets.
