This was my second or third visit to The Southern Grind at The Wharf, and I absolutely love this place. It's so much more than just a coffee shop. The entire shop is beautiful and filled with the cutest coastal décor, artwork, jewelry, purses, gifts and unique little finds. There are so many beautiful pieces made with or inspired by shells, oysters and coastal life that you could spend quite a while just looking around. The shop actually reminds me of my late mother because this is exactly the kind of place and the kind of beautiful, unique things she would have absolutely loved. That makes visiting it a little extra special for me. They also have a great selection of coffees and specialty drinks, a full gelato area, and some seriously tempting desserts. I had a hot caramel macchiato, and it was delicious. I also had the chocolate fudge cheesecake brownie, or something very close to that name, and it was DIVINE! It's incredibly rich, so I couldn't finish it all at once--I brought the rest home and happily finished it later. The two young ladies working when we visited were wonderful. Both were so sweet, outgoing, informative and genuinely helpful, which made an already great experience even better. There's outdoor and indoor seating as well, which is perfect for The Wharf. Between the coffee, desserts, beautiful shop and wonderful service, I don't have a single negative thing to say. Definitely five stars and absolutely worth stopping in! read more

This location of The Southern Grind Coffee House is in The Wharf and I've been here several times. They have decent food and a good selection of gelato. They also obviously have coffee which VERY sadly they don't offer whole cream as an option and only have the weak and pathetic half and half so you have to bring your own whole cream if you want a real coffee experience. This place is also full to the brim with lots of retail items so you can shop, drink coffee and eat all in the same space. read more

The place is exactly what I would expect if you asked me to define a coastal coffee shop. The Coffee Shop is owned by Jim and Jaime McPhillip. Jim does the cooking and Jaime does the decorating and designing. She created most of the pieces you see in the store and can purchase. I love love love the decor they have! I mean seriously I wanted to bring Jaime home so she could decorate my house. I asked her. She just laughed. I don't think she realized how serious I was I could go on and on about their decor, but I did have food too and it was really good. First off they're a coffee house. I'm not really a coffee drinker, but I did get a fantastic vanilla chai tea. The waitress recommended the jalapeño potato scramble and I took her advice. It was so good! I ordered the cheesy grits. Always a fan favorite for us. The coffee is really good. My go to is the Lavander honey coffee. I did try the banana foster which was good but their cold foam is way too heavy and they added way too much for my small coffee. Cream brûlée iced coffee is really good too. First off my family likes this place and the awesome vacation vibe it provides. However the quality of drinks for the price can be inconsistent and the customer service was extremely poor. One example was them refusing to give my daughter a glass of tap water. Which most coffee places have already out and complimentary. I was shocked and decided to verify, yes they refused and told her if she wanted water she have to buy a bottle for $3. I don't inherently get upset about it and I didn't but thought I would write this review to inform others of my experience. Had an early lunch to escape the electrical work in my home. This is a laid back beachy coffee shop that serves breakfast, lunch, baked goods and ice cream in addition to coffee drinks, smoothies and tea. Today was super quiet with school back in session! Staff accommodated my request for a light toast on the panini since I just had a root canal. I love looking at all the beachy decor and gain inspiration each time I relax here. This Wharf location is super busy in summer but has outside porch seating with umbrellas when its cool and for those with doggos! This is the cutest coffee shop, and they have food! We stopped in just looking for some caffeine and breakfast and were delighted with everything we had. First, the atmosphere was adorable and welcoming. To my delight, they had several sugar free flavors for coffee. My sugar free iced vanilla latte was so good that we went back later that afternoon for another! My husband's cold brew was delicious as well and he got not one but two later that day. For food, I had the protein toast and it was delicious. The seasoning was right and the wheat toast had that perfect crunch. My son got the waffles with strawberries and cream, and the teal whipped cream was an adorable surprise. My husband had a bowl with biscuits and gravy and liked his as well. Decided to give this place a try because of all the positive review, but unfortunately the reviews didn't match the quality of the food. You don't have a waiter or waitress. You order at the front counter, and find an available seat after. Luckily we went around 9-10 on a Sunday so there were not many people. If you order drinks. They call your name and you have to get it from the counter. The drinks and food are not cheap, and I have to get my own drink! They do bring your food to you. If you ask for ketchup or hot sauce they give you small packets. Jalapeño potato scrambler - basically an omelet. Not spicy at all. Mainly just cheese. The Belgian waffle was extremely hard. Wasn't that good. My salted caramel drink was awful. Tasted like syrup and sugar. Way to sweet. It's a nice area that the restaurant is in. Plenty of shops to walk around and go shopping. Overall, I wouldn't come back. Overpriced for the quality that you get. One of those restaurants that you try one time and that's it. read more

We usually stop in and get food on our trips. We tell people to get coffee here in our rental guidebooks. We ordered food for our family (on our second visit this week) and asked for ice waters to go with them from the person ringing us up that was drinking iced water from a branded cup. We were told they "can't let us have any water. It's company policy. We can only have ice." We've never been to a coffee shop that doesn't have this available for free or a minimal charge to cover the cost of the cup. I get that they want to charge $2+ per water, but as a large family, that would be almost $20 with tax for waters. That's just silly. Ironically, they give out free water for dogs.. just not humans. We'll frequent Beach Girl coffee from here on out and take advantage of their rewards program, free waters, and free stickers for kids. read more
