We stopped at West Beach Coffee Co. on our way out of Gulf Shores before heading back home. It's located inside a grocery store and upstairs, which we weren't expecting. One thing to be aware of--the location was not handicap accessible from what we could see, either getting into the building or getting upstairs to the coffee shop. We tried the Sandy and the pound cake. The pound cake was amazing--light, fluffy, and had a delicious lemon flavor. The Sandy was also really good! It wasn't overly sweet and had the perfect blend of flavors. They don't take your name when you order, so make sure you remember the name of your coffee when they call it out! I believe that if they hired snails, they would make my drink faster than these young ladies. They were too concerned with chatting and snap chatting. We stood in the attic of a gas station for these drinks. My 98 year old mother was waiting in the car since she could not climb the stairs. My drink was mainly ice and tasted like wet cardboard ( yes I know what that taste like). We bought a clearance longjohn and regretted immediately. There was a huge line, but it seemed to move quickly. I was able to get a lotus drink, which I loved. And my husband's sugar free coffee was good! They had so many pastries, that I couldn't eat, BUT they did have some gluten free protein bars/snacks, so I wasn't completely out. Let it be known if ur going here that if u plan to tip it will not be received. I worked here and was told the cash tips were put onto our checks (still not legal) and then when i received the check notice it was only my hourly wages i asked and was told that its included in base pay, However in Alabama (and most any other place) CASH tips are not to even be allowed to be taken as they are supposed to be split up at the end of the shift to the employees that were working said shift so if you go here jsut know the tip u planned on giving the employees will jsut be going straight to the owner and it would be better for u to just keep the tip. read more

Available upstairs it's a cute spot service was friendly and a lot more to offer in shop then just coffee. Have gotten coffee here multiple times because it's walking distance from my parents house. Very neat. Located on the second floor. The first floor is a convenience store that carries THC and unique beers with beach supplies. The second floor has one couch and several tables if you want to enjoy your coffee inside. There are multiple specials both iced and hot with LOTS of flavors to choose from. I recently got the witches hot latte that has coconut and toffee, but it was not my favorite. The drink did not have much flavor for the amount of sugar and calories I'm assuming it had. But I will say a plain latte is pretty okay for a convenience store coffee place. Will definitely have more coffee here, but if you're looking for a good coffee and higher scale experience, then you may be better served going to somewhere closer to the Hangout or orange beach area. It's the same price as other nicer coffee shops with nice seating and quality coffee. read more

Cute interior but don't recommend the coffee from here at all. The latte did not taste like a latte, it tasted like drip coffee on ice with syrup. For the price of this, I expected way more. If you like sweet coffee you found your place! If you do not love sweet coffee I would recommend asking how much sweetener is used and ask for modifications. I personally ordered the S'mores specialty coffee and ordered half sweet and was the perfect sweetness! I did have to be specific on my sweetness level was the only downside! They have plenty of "fun" coffee flavors and names with descriptions of each. The staff was very friendly and helpful to explain the flavor of the specialty coffees! We checked this place out this morning because it was walking distance from our condo and had good reviews. The coffee shop is located on the second floor of the convenience store which wasn't obvious when we walked in. The people working there were all really friendly but the coffee was horrible. I got an iced Witch's brew and my husband got the peppermint mocha. The coffee tasted watered down with no flavor. Neither of us could taste any of the flavors we requested. It was like drip coffee with milk. We also purchased muffins and they were decent at best. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more

When I travel, I love finding a locally-owned coffee shop. West Beach Coffee House is located right in the heart of Gulf Shores, Alabama inside Pier 33 convenience store. The barista greeted me warmly when I arrived and was very helpful as I made my selection. This place is not fancy at all, but honestly, that's what made me love it even more. It's a charming little coffee shop that was cozy and inviting and served its purpose. I enjoyed freshly brewed coffee and a warm pastry. It was served fast and friendly. Good morning Gulf Shores! I have never been blessed to be able to stay ON the beach, until now. I didn't even think about having to bring my own coffee... Holiday Inn always provides it... sooooo we were in desperate need of fuel, in the way of coffee! I am not a fan and avoid at all cost!! We lucked out to have a local coffee shop across from the condo we were staying in! The ladies (mom and daughter team) working were spot on and on top of everything! The line was at least 8 deep but the 2 ladies kicked into high gear and we were out the door in less than 15 minutes. The coffee didn't have that bitter back note some coffees have and is not a heavy pour! No creamer needed! The cinnamon roll was moist and delicious with just enough frosting that wasn't crazy tooth itching sweet. read more

First time trying West Beach this morning and they need their baristas energy to match their business. Cute little place and our coffee tasted good but the girl working there was incredibly off putting. I walked in (only one in there) and said "hey" she ignored me, I said "how are you?" She says "fine". She then walks away and I have to basically keep following her, I order, she makes it, doesn't say anything else to me. To preface this review, I did not get to go in the store itself. My friend went in and got a drink for me, so my review is only about the drink itself. I ordered a vanilla cold brew with alt milk. I usually get almond or oat. I always get either a vanilla cold brew or iced latte my first time somewhere to kind of compare my base favorite drinks at places. It helps me see where it sits on my scales. The coffee had a good robust base like I expected, but it was just a teeny more sweet than I typically prefer. I would put it in a Dunkin direction of sweet, but not necessarily as intense. If that makes sense I would definitely try other drinks they had in the future. read more

Cute spot. Tucked away which is nice as it's quieter than some of the other spots nearby. When I was there, service was a bit slow in part because there was only one person working. The space is a little awkward for waiting to get a to-go order. I felt like I couldn't get out of the way of the other customers coming in. Coffee was good. One of my friends is a coffee snob and she pointed out that, with the iced drinks, they pour the hot coffee over the ice. So, the ice melts right away. If you love good coffee, this is not the place for you. The establishment is clean, orderly and the baked goods looked fine. They have WiFi. It is Christian themed with music and art, However, our mochas are sickly sweet and chemical tasting. It tastes like those fat free flavored creamers instead of almond milk, chocolate and coffee. I'm about to try to find another place in Gulf Shores, for coffee, because I can't drink this. BEST cinnamon rolls! I had an iced white chocolate mocha as well and it was delicious! They don't have soy milk but do have almond milk and coconut milk, if you need an alternative to cow's milk. The second time I came here I had the coffee shake. It was a bit too sweet for me, even as a sweets lover and I would've preferred it to taste more like coffee than it did, but it didn't stop me from drinking the whole thing! I would definitely recommend this place! I'm so thankful to have found it located inside Pier 33 Grocery store. It's upstairs, which can be a bit confusing at first since the grocery store is overwhelmingly chalk-full of things, but the coffee shop is not!
